Again, typical 19th century British mystery fiction in which the crux of the tale is lean and simple; in fact too lean to generate any form of excitement or interest.
I am still on the search for 19th century writers who broke the trend and strayed from the beaten path to incorporate interesting characters or unusual settings or... just about anything apart from the norm.
2 1/2 stars. Supposedly the first mystery story that uses photographic evidence. A man disappears on his way to his fiancée's carrying a lot of money. Ok.
