Peakview, Colorado, nestled high in the Colorado Rockies is home to quirky characters we've all come to know and love. Jill Haymaker had bundled the first four books in her Peakview series. In book one, we arrive in Peakview with June Meyers as she looks for a new start in life and finds romance with the handsome widower, Jeff Walker, at his Walker Horse Ranch. In book two, Violet Woods, the owner of the town's café and self-appointed match-maker finds her own second chance at romance with Howard Crandall, the local mechanic. Although Violet is great at finding the perfect match for everyone else, can she find a happy ending for herself? In book three, we go back to Walker Ranch, where the handsome young cowboy, Luke Walker, is forced to confront his feelings when his high school sweetheart, Penny Anderson, returns for the summer. Having just finished college, Penny can't deny the feelings she still has for Luke, but can Peakview County provide a career for her? She's not willing to give up everything she's worked so hard to achieve. And finally in book four, Howard's daughter, Melanie Gentry, moves to Peakview to give herself and her daughter the chance to get to know the father she never knew. Little did she know, that she'd also have a chance at love with the dashing cowboy, Hank Dalton. Add a foster child and a rescue dog into the mix, and sparks are sure to fly. Can they all create a home and a family? Come home to Peakview, Colorado, where everyone has a chance at love.
Jill Haymaker writes contemporary romances centered in her home state of Colorado. After growing up in Indiana and Ohio, she moved to Colorado and feel in love with the beautiful mountains. She writes about adventurous women and the rugged cowboys they fall in love with. She currently has published 25 novels in her three series that take place in Peakview County, Colorado: The Peakview Series, The Aspen Ridge Series, and The Peaktop Dude Ranch Series. She is currently working on her new Montana Pines Series.
This, being a box set, has a little bit for everyone here. There's an older couple who have known each other for years and finally acknowledge their interest in each other, another couple who comes together after she comes to Peakview for a vacation after a divorce, a younger couple who were high school sweethearts finally agreeing they belong together, and a single mother showing up in Peakview looking for her father and finding more than she'd bargained for. All of these were good, but Melanie's story, the last one, was my favorite. She came with her teenage daughter, looking for her father, expecting him to be someone who didn't want anything to do with her, only to find he hadn't known she'd existed. She finds the family she never knew she had and so much more. This was a good start to what seems like an interesting series. Peakview is a small town, and the stories give you the feeling of coming back to your favorite vacation spot and seeing old friends.
Entertaining and enjoyable. A small community of likable characters. Four different love stories featuring four different age groups. A few editing mistakes.
I'm loving this series so far, and I'm looking forward to whatever happens next. The characters are very likeable, and even though things go much smoother than real life, you're happy that all works out for the best. I did only give it 4 stars, because they really need a proof reader. There's nothing that would make me stop finishing the series, but there was some missing punctuation, some words that should have been a different tense, and a character's name switched by mistake. I still loved all 4 books, and now I'm on to the next one!
Loved reading these 4 stories. They flowed together well and got you caught up in the town of Peakview and it’s people. I loved the characters and their passions to help others. There were several glaring errors throughout and needed better proofreading, but I just skipped over them. I recommend this series to everyone.
Loved all four stories. I had a read a couple of this series but hadn't read these. I still have a couple more to read. If you love good clean daily lives reads you will love these. I live in the part of Colorado where these stories take place and MS Haymaker does totally justice to it. Yes there is lots of romance also.
This was a wonderful collection of love stories set in a tiny town with ranchs and horses with no violence or bad things happening. Think Hallmark movie with some spice. I loved how it was about all the different people in a tiny town called Peakview and how each couple met and fell in love. I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories in this series.
The people who are in this story become your friends while you are reading this book. Down to earth people who are loving and caring. Happy ending for all. Can’t wait to read more from this talented writer.
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the people of Peakview. Through their trials and triumphs. Their love and respect for each other is so refreshing in this day and age. Can’t wait to read the next in the series!
I really enjoyed reading these love stories about such different charicters. Thank you for being a writer. If I were a writer i would use more flowery speach.but.alas, I'm not.
Heat warming, lovely and emotional stories all four in this series. I enjoyed very much. Could have been better if they were better edited and did not have tooooo many grammatical mistakes.
I just finished the Peakview Series and it was fun reading. I enjoyed each of the stories and the connections between the stories. Thank you for writing them. I'm off now for other stories by Jill Haymaker. She's very good
I loved the closeness of the people of Peakview and how they were always willing to be there for one another. This is something so important in the strange times we are currently experiencing. Now on to the rest of the series.
I read the series on KU. I loved them. As soon as I finish writing this review I am going to buy the series. A little romance and little passion and a whole lotta' love in this series.
I enjoyed reading the 4 stories set in Peakview. All 4 were well written and kept your interest. Carrying forward the various characters in all gave you a feeling of continuity.
This book of books was great. There wasn't any cliffhangers & every book was a great story. I finished every book before I put it down.I realized not start a book unless I time to finish the whole book.
These three books are very entertaining. These Cowboys are great guys. The girls they love are lovely , good people. Nice to read stories about families that are stable and stay together.
Parkview Series Box Set 1-4: WOW! Great stories and wonderful characters. I liked reading how each couple met and fell in love. Even with all the challenges that they each had it made the couple's stronger. Great stories!
Life in a small mountain town where neighbours are like family. In this set 4 dreams become reality despite the obstacles Semi sweet romance wrapped up in wishes
Enjoying this series. Really like how everyone’s lives entertained with all the books. I will continue reading this series. I hope there are more to come.
Book 1 Colorado Sunsets This is a story of two middle aged people, who appear to have been brought together by fate. They recognize that they were attracted to each other. However, it took a little manipulation from a family member to get them together fully. It's a sweet, poignant romance, one with past loves remembered and a future life dreamed off. I did enjoy this encounter, and look forward to more stories from Peakview.
Book 2 Breakfast for Two
Another great story of the folks that inhabit Peakville, Colorado. This mature aged pair have been friends forever. He had helped her through the death of her husband, eight years ago. Now, she was helping him with something he never dreamed off. Plus, along the way, they realize the true feelings they have for each other. A wonderful romantic tale, plus a story of community and love.
Book 3 Colorado Cabin in the Pines
She left the mountains to pursue a dream, that of helping underprivileged kids. She came back, for a summer holiday, before she started her teaching job in the city. She loved her wild mountain home, but couldn't reconcile her need for more in her life. He stayed and worked on the farm, eventually building the house that the two of them had dreamt of building. Her return put him in tail spin, as he still loved her, but wanted her to also fulfill her own dreams. This is what happens that summer. A very heartwarming tale.
Book 4 Colorado Wrangler
The brave young woman, Melanie, who we meet in an earlier episode, when she came to Peakville in search of her father. She now is settled, with her daughter Sophie, and is ready to share the love, further. We also meet Marissa in an earlier episode, as a young person on a visit to a camp for underprivileged children. Although Hank hasn't been front and center in other episodes, he finally has a starring role in this one. So, you know the main characters, I'm not going to ruin a great yarn, in telling you what happens in this wonderful tale. As the other books, in the series, it's an enjoyable experience.
