When his little sister wanders away, Ralph, the soccer-loving rabbit, knows that she could be in danger and so must find her soon before dark sets upon them.
Nathan said he liked this book 4 stars. He also said that it reminded him of himself and his little sister. He thinks his baby sister gets messy all the time. Also, Nathan likes to help mommy out and keep and eye on lyla while they are playing but sometimes he gets distracted himself playing with toys! Nathan thinks Ralph was a bad boy for not listening to his mommy! He was just happy that the fox didn't find the Emily in the tall grass before her mom did!
Copyright 1989. A scholastic book. I tried to read this book at least once every Easter, but it was never a favorite. Very wordy. Mother bunny is too busy to watch her kids, so she puts the responsibility on older brother, Ralph. Ralph isn't a good babysitter, so Mother makes a big mistake. He hits his baby sister, then lets her wander off into the tall grass where there's a fox waiting.
Reading Level: Late Early or Beginning Transitional
Illustrations: Do a great job of depicting the story. Kids could get a kick out of some of the faces The brother makes.
Literary Elements: Dialogue
Thoughts: A good book about a troubled character, because the brother is told to watch his sister. He ends up hitting her, and not watching. She ends up wondering off, Ralph is panicked and in the end learns responsibility.
Ralph has been told by his mom that he needs to watch his sister Emily which is his LEAST favorite thing to do. When two little blue butterflies come floating by, Emily takes off, but was Ralph watching to see where she went?
