I thought I was strong enough to go along with the plan. Fake dating the heart throb, Cayden Rivers, seemed simple enough. Apparently not.
I am just trying to survive. Spending the summer with my loosey-goosey Dad in Hollywood, CA is just enough to send my OCD tendencies into superdrive. But Mom thinks it’s good for me. And my best friend Michelle has agreed to come along.
I should have known better than to get on the plane.
First Dad drops his soon-to-be wife on me. Then I run into Cayden Rivers, the player of Hollywood. He seems just as trapped in his life as I feel in mine. Which is weird. And the more I get to know him, the more I find out, maybe we’re not that different.
So when he asks me to fake date him to help his image, I stupidly agree. Everything goes according to plan until my feelings start to grow and I can’t tell if Cayden feels the same or if he’s just acting.
My life spirals out of control and the only person I want to turn to is Cayden. I just hope he my heart is the one he doesn’t break.
Anne-Marie Meyer is a USA Today Bestselling author who lives south of the Twin Cities in MN. She spends her days with her knight in shining armor, four princes, and a baby princess.
When she's not running after her kids, she's dreaming up romantic stories. She loves to take her favorite moments in the books and movies she loves and tries to figure out a way to make them new and fresh.
This was a cute idea. The story and relationship progressed really quickly though and I felt like some of the bigger issues were resolved too easily for them to be believable. And some weren't really resolved at all. Not my favorite from this author, but there were some very cute and swoony first love moments.
I liked this book. I really wish that these books were a little longer so that the plot could be stretched out more. They fell for each other rather fast and I wish they got to know each other more before saying the 3 words. I also wish that we got more of the conflict between the heroine and her father.
Scarlett suffers from anxiety, low self-esteem, and she’s never had a boyfriend, so there’s absolutely no way she could ever turn a superstar’s head now, could she? Anything can happen in Hollywood!
-‘“I’ll be here,” he said as he pulled away. “When you figure it out and are ready to talk, let me know.”’-
Toe-curling kisses, blue-eyed gorgeous guy who happens to be a Hollywood star... what’s not to love? As always, this author has written yet another great, clean YA romance. Definitely worth the read and highly recommended. Loved it.
I didn't finish the book. The relationship progressed way too quickly for me making it less interesting and realistic, for my own taste. I didn't get into it and I decided to not force myself to finish it.
***THERES NOT MANY SPOILERS JUST A FEW * IN BETWEEN EACH SECTION OF THIS REVIEW******
I can’t wait for the “Hamilton Prep School Series” to come out..... that’s one of the few books I’m waiting on the first book which is called “Quinn and the Wrong Boy”...
But anyway it took me a minute finish this book. I had to go ahead and read another book, then restart on rereading this book... from where I left off... then when I went back to start this book, I wanted to reread something different. But made myself go ahead and finish it FINALLY...
This book not really boring but I did get boring with reading it since it really pulls me in and wanted more after each chapter trying to find out what happened next... but I did like how Cayden didn’t care about what people thought about Scarlett, she clearly was different from other girls.., what I didn’t like was that Rosalie girl trying to ruin things for both Cayden and Scarlett... I knew she was full of it when she tried giving Scar that money and telling her a bunch of lies... I was glad Bryant told Cayden about what happen so he could get his girl which he did.
Other than that I want a book with “Michelle and Bryant” because I want to know if they will be together in the end since he on the east coast going to school while she’s in Chicago and will she end up in college with him...
welp— i think i’ve had a distorted impression of these books… maybe they ARE insta love? cause this book definitely is. meaning, i don’t like it as much 🥲.
very unfortunate, i agree. i love the concept, but it’s just the fact that things happened to quick and i was like: ew. again, concept is spectacular but the length was just way too short for anything real to be developed.
i liked cayden’s persona, but like it was overdone? there wasn’t enough meat to the story for me to be like ‘okay this guy is *blank*, *blank*, and *blank*’. i wish it was better and the character arc was more substantial, honestly.
i actually really liked scarlett’s character. hers felt more real to me even though the book was incredibly short. but again, good character could’ve been an amazing character had it been longer and more developed!
so basically, a high 2 star 👍.
but we’re not done… these books are so addicting so i can’t wait to get into the next one. plus, the fast-ish pace is really good, to be honest 😌.
Like yes, the speed of which they get together is bearable since the book is so short which doesn't make it as bothersome, it does still very much annoy me with idiotic miscommunication third-act-breakup, like damn bitch, you see one thing THAT PAPARAZZI DO (which as having a father in the industry you should know is almost always taken out of context.) and you suddenly lost all faith with your man so much so that you believe the fuck face who tried to steal your man from the start??? There is no way these two last, honestly the FMC gave me pick me vibes sometimes, she was just annoying in general and in my opinion the whole deal with her father was handled so irresponsibly both by her and her father. Even with how short this one was I still struggled to finish it. This thing was not my cup of tea..
Cute story with Scarlett and Cayden. Scarlett is an average girl who has control issues. She also has a hard time with trust. Her Dad left them when she was young but now wants to build a relationship with her. Her mother is insistent that she go and spend the summer with her dad. Cayden is a teenage heartthrob actor who is working on a movie with Scarlett’s dad who is the director. Cayden runs into Scarlett shortly after Scarlett arrives for the summer. Scarlett had just found out her dad was getting remarried. Scarlett needing an escape leaves the studio with Cayden. They are seen together. Creating the opportunity for Cayden to become Scarlett’s fake boyfriend to help Cayden’s bad boy image. This story is a sweet romance about gaining someone’s trust and about forgiveness.
This was a cute short story. I wish it were longer, it was too short and rushed. The characters got their HEA but I wanted to see it because it's so quick, how do they make it work? She still has another year of high school then what? I never really liked Scarlett because she has so much wishy washy feelings and is dramatic (I know she's a teenager and its YA). So her dad couldn't spend the day with her because work came up and yes she had been pushed aside before but to make plans to fly back without speaking to him?
What about Michelle? Is there a story for her? I've heard a lot about Meyer's work so I had to see. I'll read another but this left me unsatisfied.

This book was an easy read, super fast. In my opinion the author had the makings of a really good book. So much more could of been done. Honestly this was the cheesiest YA book I have read. I liked the premise, just wanted more in-depth look at the characters. It was about a fake summer romance turned real and it all happened in like a two week span. Summer is longer than that.
I was not expecting that much, it was a cliche love interest, but it was kinda cute. Once again, i'm amazed by how quickly the fall for each other, it was like in 3 days and at the week they were saying "I love you", that i didn't love. I need the story to be realistic, and this was not the case, but it's a short, cute summer love story. I don't have much to say, except that I wish the conflict didn't solved itself so quickly, like it lasted only 2 minutes and they were fine again and back together. I don't recommend this one that much.
This is the kind of book where the plot is good but the story is too short! I just wanted to read so much more, and see their story evolve a little slower than it did. I liked Cayden, I liked Michelle, Scarlett was a little annoying at times lol Also I don’t know about Trinity, it’s like there was more to the story behind her but unfortunately we didn’t get it. But again, the story was pretty good and I really liked it!
I really wished in the description of the book it told the potential reader it was about a 16 year old immature, self absorbed kid. I would not have gotten the book. For an adult I find it silly. Half way into the book I finally said forget this. I am sure if I was under 18 this would be a cute book.
So far in the series this one was my favorite. I love how he was famous but didn’t act all high and mighty when he met her. Sure he made some jokes but he definitely could have been worse. She was just so accepting of him and was determined to make everyone see what she saw in him. I loved it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very last. It has been very rare that I have been able to read a book in one day, but I was captivated by these characters instantaneously.
This book was better than previous ones in that I didn’t notice as many spelling or repetitive word choices, at least none that jumped out at me. I think I’m getting used to her signature phrases such as pinched lips. As for the story, it was a cute and clean YA romance.
If you don't have problems with your father then you would probably hate this book and think that Scarlett was being an overly dramatic teenager. But if you're like me and you 100% get how Scarlett is feeling then I'm sorry.
Everything happens so fast in these books. This book was about a summer vacation and she stuffs everything in what, 3 weeks? I want more. More backstory about the characters, more storytelling, just more.
Usually I’m a big fan of Meyers books. The rules of love books are supposed to be cutesy light reads, and I’m here for that! This one just fell flat. Didn’t care for the characters, and the whole story felt rushed. Just wasn’t for me
Absolutely riveting. I could not put the book down and stayed up way to late needing to know what happened with Summer, Erika and Allison. It was heart wrenching and you get all the feels for these three ladies. ❤️
I liked that this book moved quickly and liked how the relationship started. However, the conflicts all seemed very contrived and could've easily been resolved with a simple conversation. The story lacked any depth to the characters.
This is such a cute story! I love a sweet fake dating book, and this one is so good. Scarlet and Cayden are great together. I really enjoyed reading their love story. I know you will too, I definitely recommend it!
Cute and short, this book was a fast and they both fell and pretty hard. Really enjoyed this book. Cayden was so sweet but had a bad boy image and Scarlette is shy, quiet and has issues with crowds and people being close. They see each other for who they really are and that’s too cute.
I have read better from this author so it was not what I was expecting bit it was a cute little summer romance. I felt like there were too many problems for just 200 pages to cover but the guy and best friends where really fun.
Such cute fast reads. It's written for a young adult really. However, it was cute. I enjoyed the fact she gave them a chance. She also stepped out of her comfort zone, to enjoy life.
