2.5 Meh Stars – Somewhat indifferent
19-year-old Kingsley has just moved to a shifter town to live with her shifter dad, and she’s not having fun, since as Sheriff, her dad has warned all the men keep away, and boy are they - as soon as she smiles or tries to be friendly people turn away. She’s not happy, but her isolation doesn’t last long when one possessive bear shifter – Damon, gets a whiff of her scent, he knows she’s his mate and he won’t stop until he has her beside him and under him.
The hate Kingsley’s dad felt for Damon seems to subside a tad too quickly, it didn’t feel believable at all.
Before I could blink I was done with the read (but not because I devoured it, it was just that quick)!
Tropes used:
I was hoping for a short hot smutty shifter read, this was a quick read but it wasn’t the naughty little morsel I was hoping for. And honestly whilst there were moments that almost had me fanning myself, the chemistry between the main characters didn’t rise potently off the page.
I had downloaded the second book via KU to read, but after finishing this, I returned it.

He's gorgeous, but not in a leading man kind of way in a Hollywood movie. He looks more like the villain.
This was a steamy shifter romance between Kinsley and Damon with plenty of OTT moments of instalove and claiming. I wish there was more danger/action-filled moments, but if you're looking for an easy, HEA smut read then this is for you!

I haven’t read a shifter story in a while and this one was definitely OTT good. This story was everything it promised! Once Damon found his mate there was no stopping him claiming her. The passion was HOT between these two, scorching!

Completely safe! No ow drama and a tiny bit of om drama and her dad causes a little drama for the two of them. The H’s sexual history is not mentioned which bugs me and the h is a virgin. I was wondering he mentioned putting his cub into her when he wanted to breed her. But since her dad is a shifter and she is human will their kids be human too? Just something I was wondering about. No abuse either!

A sweet and hot shifter book.
This is the first book by this author that I read, and I really enjoyed it. Actually, I can't wait for the next one in this series, I want to see Damon's brothers find their mates as well.
This is a sweet book with an insta love and insta lust. But it made sense to the story, because when you think of shfters and mates and bonding, this is something you expect and, to be honest, it's something I kind of want in this kind of book.
Damon Ridge is a shifter and his bear is going crazy feeling that his mate is finally around. Kinsley has just moved to town to live with her over protective shifter father and, even though she is feeling lost in a city where no one can approach her, she feels that, for some reason, she is finally home.
The sexiness and the chemistry were really good and their feelings were intense but sweet.
Although there was an atempt to a fight between shifters over Kinsley, the main issue was her father warning and scaring every single man off from her.
But he couldn't stop a grizzly bear from claiming his mate. And when Damon finds Kinsley, they all realize that what it's happening is way bigger and stronger than they had antecipated.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a guilty pleasure, and it was so easy to read.
I guess I found again my fondness over shifters.

Shifter series
I really enjoyed the start of this shifter series. It’s our favorite OTT guy at work who just happens to be a bear shifter. Great chemistry,as usual, between Kingsley’s and Damon. A little bit of family drama and you have a fun story. Can’t wait for the next one!

This is the author’s first shifter book that I can see, and her signature OTT insta everything style is a perfect fit for the fated mates trope that is such a huge part of the genre. The heroine, Kinsley, moves to a remote shifter town in Montana to be with her estranged father who happens to be the town sheriff and a shifter himself. Damon, the hero, is a grizzly shifter whose inner beast is pushing him to find their mate.
The conflict in the book stems from Kinsley’s dad basically warning EVERY male to stay away from her and that going double for Damon due to a past incident involving the prior sheriff. I would have liked for the conflict to have been addressed a little more deeply as it was resolved rather quickly. I also would have liked for Damon and Kinsley’s relationship to have been explored more. I understand that the fated mate trope provides a sort of blanket explanation for the speed of the connection, but I would have like to watch the two of them use that as a starting point and come together more deeply.
I generally love this author’s work, but I was missing the intensity in this book that I normally can count on her for. That being said, it was an quick and enjoyable read and I loved the multiple epilogues as well as the quick glimpse into the next story in the series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Another great one by O.T.T.
Don't know why but my fav shifter to read about are bear shifters. I just really wished more shifter stories had both h/H as virgins. I guess in my mind, if your destined to have a fated mate, why be able to get your rocks off with someone who you know is not your mate? Now, it's not clearly stated that the H is a virgin but it's not stated that he isn't. There's no talk about his past at all. Which is great, I actually prefer that to reading about him with OW or being a man-ho. Most don't care about that stuff but my safety seeking friends do & I gotta watch out for my girls. 😃

This short story is absolutely ridiculous... and that’s exactly why you should read it. It’s fast, hot and seriously over the top, just like the author claims. An alpha male to beat all alpha males and a woman just begging to be claimed - it’s crude, totally rude and tropey enough to make you roll your eyes. I kinda loved it. Lol!
Pros:
- Tropes are good, when they are supposed to be there.
- So in your face it’s gag worthy, like it is supposed to be.
- Steamy.
Cons:
- Very short.
- Very crude. But eh, goes with the territory. Just know what you’re getting.

Haven't read a shifter book in awhile and this one was pretty okay!!
I did have a problem with kinsley dad.. i can get being protective of your kid.. BUT HE SHOT HER MATE!! like dude as a shifter you know how mates are.. and you shot your daughters mate? Like wtff?? And she just gets angry and is like okay? When he takes her away from her mate? No fighting just listens to her dad? Maybe that did bother me more 🤣🤣🤣 but I wish she stood up to her father who she said has a eh relationship with.
Beside that mess.. i did enjoy Damon and his need to be with Kinsley even with her crazy father he didn't let that stop him. True alpha!! They were perfect together he made sure she was love, protected and well taken care of ;) i do wish it was atad longer to see these two grow more and i wanted to see her father say sorry to Damon.. cuz he needs to say sorry..

Kinglsey is new in town after her mum got her dream job she moved to live with her dad, who just happens to be a polar bear shifter and works as the town sheriff. Her only complaint is how protective he is of her he has warned everyone in town not to speak to her. But Damon is different and she knows where she belongs from the minute her eyes meet his but how will her father feel about her being his mate with the reputation that follows him?
Damon is one of the town bad boys and also the alpha of the Ridge brothers. Being a shifter town he aware of the fights for dominance but for the past few weeks his bear has been feeling anxious, once he spots Kingsley it becomes apparent the reason for his behaviour his mate is closer than he realised. But now he has found her he will not lose her all he needs to do is convince her father that his past is for a good reason and he will do anything to protect her.
Great chemistry, over the top alpha male and a furry HEA. Totally safe read.

Meh. Not that it was bad, I guess, but it was very much what it was - an OTT insta-love shifter romance. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for it, or maybe it was too much OTT for me, but it was between 1-2 stars for me.
Big age difference - 19 year old h and 32 year old H. And Kinsley certainly acted her 19 years old. Maybe that was what was getting to me - how young she sounded. Not the virgin aspect, but just the personality. And no spine. Her mom's a glaciologist, so 99% likely she has a PhD (i.e. a fairly motivated person), but Kinsley is 19, so out of high school, technically an adult, but isn't pushing for a job, school, anything - just looking to live with her parents. And do what? She seemed totally aimless. Not that everyone knows what they want to do at 19, but at least do something during the day, right?? And then when Kinsley meets Damon, he's gruff and crass and yet she's swooning. Just didn't do it for me. But then, if that's what you're looking for...
Alternating 1st person POV. No cheating. No OW/OM drama. Happily, although Kinsley was pretty young and naive, there wasn't a lot of immature pushing away or lack of communication as plot development. So that was a plus. Short story insta-love, so pretty much low drama, lots of sex. Could never see what the attraction was between them, and in a short story like this, there usually isn't space to find out. As long as you expect that and it's what you're looking for, you shouldn't be disappointed. HEA and no cliffhanger, though seeds were planted for book 2, Everett's story.
Would I read more in the series? Probably not. Not that it's badly written, but I'm not as much into the naive virgin, OTT insta-love romances. I like my romances with a little more spine and a lot more banter. But if you pick this up knowing what it is, it might hit the spot for you.
Big age difference - 19 year old h and 32 year old H. And Kinsley certainly acted her 19 years old. Maybe that was what was getting to me - how young she sounded. Not the virgin aspect, but just the personality. And no spine. Her mom's a glaciologist, so 99% likely she has a PhD (i.e. a fairly motivated person), but Kinsley is 19, so out of high school, technically an adult, but isn't pushing for a job, school, anything - just looking to live with her parents. And do what? She seemed totally aimless. Not that everyone knows what they want to do at 19, but at least do something during the day, right?? And then when Kinsley meets Damon, he's gruff and crass and yet she's swooning. Just didn't do it for me. But then, if that's what you're looking for...
Alternating 1st person POV. No cheating. No OW/OM drama. Happily, although Kinsley was pretty young and naive, there wasn't a lot of immature pushing away or lack of communication as plot development. So that was a plus.
