Morana Valdis has been arrested for the one murder she didn’t commit, as enemies from her past arrive in town.
A battle between The Reapers and the law begins while Morana finds herself missing for a second time. The guys will race against the clock to bring her home, and they’ll burn Sanorah to the ground to ensure her safety.
Relationships are strained, while trust is put to the test.
Will Morana pay for her past sins, or will The Reaper Queen get her happily ever after?
This book was everything I love about RH and dark romance tangled together with a FMC that has such darkness she thinks that's all there is to her. Luckily her guys see the light in her and aren't afraid of the dark.
Last book, we had a menage. Just two hotties and the hardcore femme fatale Morana. This book brought in another guy who goes against everything he thought he stood for to stand with her.
In the last book we learned Morana's father was murdered and she was being blamed for it. She quickly gets the charges dismissed and goes on the hint for the real killer.
Morana is slightly more fragile after the events of the previous book and understandably so. She doesn't believe she deserves happiness so she tends to push those closest to her away to run off to handle business on her own, trying to protect those she loves from having to do anything she fears they would choose not to if given a choice.
But as is always the case in life, stuff happens. She ends up righting a few wrongs done to her but we learn their is a bigger picture that Morana and the guys aren't able to see yet.
Someone is out for blood and things are bound to get messy.
This series is really really good. It's completely balanced. The plot and side storylines are full of adrenaline. There's a lot of heat and intensity with the guys. The usual petty BS relationship drama one sees in many other books is kept to a bare minimum. And mostly they work together as a unit, as a family should... except a couple times, but I can't give it all away!
Read it if you like dark romances and reverse harem. It's got blood, sex, and violence. It's got love and snowboarding. It's got drama and chemistry.
Don't read if you have triggers about darker themes like torture or if you want there to be clear cut good guys v. bad guys. This isn't that kind of story. It's so much more.
I know I loved the book one immensely, and I didn't think it would be possible to love a book more, but here I am after a sleepless night, loving book two so much it hurts. I have no idea how the author does it but she makes me fall in love with her story and the characters over and over again. Again this book comes with a warning about some hot and steamy scenes, and tons of seriously graphic violence. Not for the faint of heart, but then again, I have a feeling the author wrote this series with the rest of us in mind, the readers who actually love that kind of murderous stuff. Did I mention how much I loved it? Tons! So the book continues right where it stopped, from that shocking cliffhanger in the previous book, and if you think this books ends differently, think again. Anyway, the story continues, and gets more complicated. The relationships between and among characters evolve and develop further, although Morana is struggling a bit to let go of her secrets. She is still, this most perfect murderous bloody queen, who never loses her cool in front of strangers. And I love her so much. What is different in this book is that it is more romantic, it is more focused on the family and blossoming romance. Just as Morana, the romance is not really conventional. But the best part of this book is that we are getting closer to finding out who has it in for Morana, and there is a really unexpected addition to her family, which I loved to pieces. Characters were amazing, all of them, good and bed ones. Or should I say bad and worse? This is a fantastic amazing fabulous series and I love love love it. Since I have no idea what to do with myself until the next book comes out, I am reading the authors other series. She is so amazing, beyond words. The series makes sense only if read in order. The reading order is: Betrayal (The Reapers Series Book 1) , Deception (The Reapers #2), and A Reaper Halloween (The Reapers Series Novella), Bloodlines (The Reapers Series Book 3), and Redemption (The Reapers Series Book 4), have been announced.
There is something about an author who can write a character like Morana, The Reaper, who is a remorseless killer yet underneath the expressionless sociopathic exterior is a character that is so much more. Often, the second book of a series can be nothing more than an information dump, but that is not the case here. Reid keeps the story fresh and provides a unique plot to the RH genre.
The character development in this second installment was well done. Morana, rather than being a cold, selfish killer is in fact a self-deprecating woman who feels that she is unworthy of anyones love or affection. She is so much more than what is on the outside, and that works to her advantage. Reid provides a great deal of insight into what made Morana and her guys who they are. Their backstories, the glimpses provided through flashbacks, were well entwined within the present day and gave the reader a lot of good information.
The plot itself was unexpected. I enjoyed the twists and turns that Reid took us on. Instead of rehashing the past events, we were introduced to a new scenario and set of players out to claim the Valdis territory for themselves. They were still part of Valdis past, and so they were part of Morana’s past and how Reid wove that in was very well done.
I am excited to see the third installment of The Reaper series. It isn’t often that you get to root for the girl who thrives on murder, but that is exactly what Bo Reid aka, the Murder Queen, has the reader doing.
Another great book by Bo!!! Morana isn’t quite the same ruthless, cold, and emotionless character in this book as she was in the first book. Her trauma from the first book has definitely carried over and you can see the toll it is taking on her. I like seeing that kind of development and change in the characters.
The addition of Emma and Talin into the family actually surprised me as well as Morana and her men’s trust in them. I’m glad they were brought into the fold but it still struck me as unlikely and hard to believe. I also thought Talin dropped the ILY bomb pretty quickly. And seriously, why are all these men becoming obsessed with Morana?! I can understand one maybe even 2 but that’s pushing it...
This book revolves around a new set of enemies trying to bring down The Valdis family which I guess is entirely plausible when you are heavily involved in the mob. This book has already set up for another new set of enemies to come after Morana and her family in the next installment.
No rape scenes in this book like the first one but there is sexual assault such as unwanted touches while she was handcuffed by the feds.
Overall it was a good book but some elements I found a little hard to believe but that isn’t enough to turn me off of a series.
Omg I think I died reading Deception! Technically this book isn’t out until August 19 but I was lucky enough to get my paws on an early copy and I couldn’t be more depressed about it. This book was such a great follow up to book 1, Betrayal, but the end literally killed me. I was waiting for that moment to happen, you know the one right after things start looking up, that shatters that false sense of happiness you have, and damn did it happen. I was really impressed with the character growth, plot twists, and of course the romance. Once again she masterfully crafted this balance between a murdering psychopath to be feared and a beautiful soul to be loved. I can’t even get over the juxtaposition and finesse that it takes to pull this off. Morgana is a character that isn’t easy to love but by the end you find yourself rooting for her all the way! There is so much more I want to say but in fear of spiking anything for anyone who hasn’t read either book I will stop here. Just make sure you get your hands on Betrayal (book 1) and then Deception( book 2) ASAP! Even if you think it’s not for I promise it is! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🖤
I loved loved loved the second book in this series. I of course love the harem of hotties and Morana is an unconventional goddess! I cannot express how much I love Bo Reid and this series. I have to admit the ending of the first book nearly killed me (not literally, emotionally). I was on the edge of my seat crying and screaming. It is truly amazing how Bo Reid the author has carried over from the initial story but also built on the relationships, intrigue and storyline! I find it all flows and the series is so amazing that it sucks you into the story so much that you feel you are apart of the story, that you know the characters and your 100% outraged at what Morana goes through. She is one KA woman and I love that no matter what she goes through she is still a bada**. Also can I just say Talin, feeling the love from when he enters alllll the hotties! Let’s be honest the vulnerable side makes us love her even more! I literally cannot wait until the next book and hands down one of my favourite authors! That ending though pretty sure its killed me more than Betrayal!!!!!!!! Read it... go on...
So, first off let me just say, I have read thousands of books in my life, but I have not ever related so much to a character in my life. Morana is an absolute badass. I love that she is so real. Don't get me wrong, for most people this is probably just a fun read, but not for me. I came up in a situation very similar to Morana's. Quite frequently you will come across books where the author has tired to create some badass fmc with a sordid past that goes through trial after trial and comes out of them all sunshine and rainbows. Those characters, for me, always lacked soul. I don't know how, but Bo has managed to create the perfect mix of dark and light, pain and pleasure, life and death, and it all comes together as prefect murdery goodness. I actually felt these characters. Needless to say, I'm in love💘 If you're looking for a book full of drama, heat, mystery, and mayhem, you've come to the right place. 100% Stabby Satisfaction Guaranteed 😈
you have done it again Bo Reid what a fantastic second book. i don't know were to start what a roll coaster off a ride Morana and her brothers have gone through in this book . Morana has not only had to deal with what happen to her in the first book she now has to deal with the factor that someone has killed her father and trying to pin it on her. Enter the FBI i was a bit unsure about Talin to start off with but i love how there relationship develops and that she final opens up to Nash , ranger and Hunter about her life so there are no more secrets. I have to say i wanted to bang there heads together when they all walked out on her and left her but it worked out in the end and OMG what a way to end the book was not expecting that to happen. I absolutely love these charters and the storline what an amazing writer Bo Reid is i cant wait to see what happens next
Book 2 picks up right where book 1 ends right in the middle of a bomb being dropped. Like wholly cow way to start a book.
We get to see Morana dealing with the aftermath of being kidnapped and the guys trying to help her. I love that we get to see another side to Morana than we did in the first book. The story gets more intense as it goes on and more mysteries to solve. The FBI shows up in town and that brings about a whole lot of unforseen complications. I did think that the guys could have been a tad bit more skeptical with Talin based off of what happend with the last guy.The reapers relationships are tested in this book. But what's stronger than blood and family, maybe the it's the secrets they hold.
I think I went through about every emotion out there as I read this book. Happy, sad, angry, shocked, devastated, joy, and even some throw your kindle moments! I loved Betrayal and Deception continued the story amazingly. You get to see them as they try to figure out their relationships and how everything will work and then how they navigate new challenges. So many things happen in this book and you won't be able to put it down unless maybe during one of those throw the kindle moments! Bo is a true genius in her characters and plots and I am amazed everytime I read one of her books! You won't be disappointed in this book, one click NOW! I can not wait until the next one and hopefully I don't get too stabby waiting!
Deception is the second book in The Reapers Series. This book hurts with the emotional rampage we find ourselves on. When the FBI arrests Marana for the one and only murder she actually didn't commit, things take a turn. The FBI is dead set on taking her down for this crime, but the question is why? Who is pulling the strings to make her look guilty and what do they have to gain from it?
While trying to find out what is going on, Marana's relationship also goes through the grinder with her guys. We gain some, and we lose some, but not in the way you're thinking. Secrets are eventually revealed, and pain and healing take their places. This book is everything. This series is everything. I cannot wait to dive straight into book 3.
Wow, This is a great sequel for Morana. Readers obviously have to start with the first book in the reaper series, Betrayal Morana is arrested under suspicion of her fathers murder. She struggles with her Ranger and hunter due to issues in the last book. Her newfound relationship with the members of the FBI are rife with strife. I love Morana and her men. These characters are so well written, although killers and murdered, you just cant help but love them. I cant wait to see what happens next with their family. This book has so many twists and turns that at one point I didn't know what was going to happen. Congratulations Bo on another fantastic read.
Bo has done it again! 5 stars for our murder queen. This was an amazing sequel to Betrayal, and honestly more than we could have asked for! There was mystery, suspense, romance, lies...could you really ask for more?? I’m not surprised, because Bonis quickly becoming a favorite author of mine and her writing just continues to become more amazing. She really keeps your interest throughout the entire book and your flipping pages (or fictional Kindle pages lol) so fast to continue to be entranced. All in all, I loved this book and 10/10 would recommend.
I did receive this as an ARC, but as usual all opinions are my own.
Once again another brilliant read! Book two of The Reapers has not been a disappointment. Bo has once again brought suspense, romance and violence mixing them all to cook up a storm in Deception. Morana is the monster with a heart, but a monster you cannot help but fall in love with! Bo's writing and story telling once again have taken her readers on an emotionally thrilling journey. This is a must read! And if you haven't started the series Betrayal is where you need to begin! I promise this book is not a disappointment.
This book kicks off right where we left Morana at the end of the first book so if you haven't read Betrayal go and do that now! I love this world that Bo has created and can't get enough of the way she creates and builds on her relationships. There are so many of those moments where I have to go back and read the sentence again so I can repeat the feelings it creates. Morana is an amazing and complex character and her men... hot... and caring, and totally devoted. I can't wait for the next one to be out so I can continue the journey!
There are few authors who could take a morally flexible killer, bloodthirsty and emotionally withdrawn, and make her your dearest confidante. She is savage, sweet, tortured and a torturer but you root for her, empathize with her and completely get why she is so well loved. You really need to read book 1 first. I can not wait for book 3, I’m actually stabby for it. *so many triggers both sexual assault and violence, but handled with respect and realism.
This is an outstanding addition to The Reapers Series. I love how much more you get to learn about Morana, Nash, Ranger and Hunter. The flashblack of the past are seamlessly integrated into the story. Deception has so many emotions involved especially dealing with the backlash of the happenings in book one. This book lives up to its title and is filled with deception, and suprises around every corner.
Bo Reid has done it again. I am not sure how you fall in love with an FMC that is so stabby but I sure did. In the continuation of the Reaper series we get a little more insight to our characters past. We are introduced to a few new characters and a lot more murder and mayhem. Mix in a little twist at the end and you have yourself a new favorite series.
I fell in love with Morana in the first book, and this book didn’t change that at all. Her character development was amazingly well done. The events of the first book have impacted her deeply, and I’ve enjoyed following along with her on the road to recovery. And I love the addition of Talin. I can’t wait to see how his story arc progresses. Excellent book full of unlikely characters. I can’t wait to see what Bo Reid has next in store.
This is another amazing book by this fantastic author. This book will suck you in and not let go. The story is amazing and you will not be able to put it down once you start. The characters are so real, that you feel as though your know them personally and no matter what you want to help them. See them succeed no matter what they need to do. It moves along at a great pace making this a nice relaxing read. This needs to be on your TBR list, no doubt about it.
Murder, Vengeance, Lies, Love and Family is the basis of this series and that continues in book 2. Except that outside influences want to destroy both Morana and her family - Ranger, Hunter and Nash. So you can guarantee that blood and violence will follow. There sure is plenty of that in this book. Dark RH romance at its best and a damn fine read
I absolutely devoured this book but what the heck with that cliffhanger?!?!? I almost threw my iPad across the room when I got to those last few sentences. I cannot WAIT for the next book in the series. It’s going to be so epic! If you are a fan of murder, true crime and general b.a.-ness you need to start this series yesterday!
I can see Bo smirking with a cliff hanger like that. Morana is being accused of a murder she didn’t commit, I mean she has committed many, but this one she didn’t. Her and her boys must fight through all the b.s and be Able to find out who wants to frame Morana and why. But as more things are uncovered, will this make or break Morana and her boys?
What can I say, this series just gets better and better. Bo has me hooked from book one and this book as number two did not disappoint. It’s still filled with head, blood and twists and turns that knock you off kilter. I cannot wait for the next one, and FYI the end to this book was one of a shock then what happened in the first one.
Bo you did it again dragging you in to your books is a work of art and I love every minute of it. This series is so good. I couldn’t put it down once I started. I’m so looking forward to more of your books.
Ahhhhh this was such a good second book in the series, the darkness, the drama and the light!!! Everything included to make it another great read!! Im so excited for the next installment hooked from the forst page to the last again!! Highly reccomended!!
This book was full of action and the story line is different from other books. This story is unlike anything else I have read and I love it. This is a must read for anyone that likes action and excitement and strange love. Read it, Bo Reid did an amazing job.
I love this series! Its completely out of the zone on what I'd normally read but I love that it is! Morana is a kick ass MC and everything I want to read when its been a long day! That cliffhanger nearly killed me though, I can't wait to read more!!
Great second addition! This series just keeps getting better. More twists, dark adventure and growth with our MC’s. When I wasn’t reading this, I was thinking about it- this twisted story will hold your attention and make you want more. Trigger warnings for sensitive readers.
I needed the next book like I need coffee and air. Bo Reid killed it again with this one. Morana's story is dark, twisty and so, so bloody and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.
