What lengths would you go to in order to save your marriage?
Broken trust. Bitter arguments. Burning secrets.
Their marriage in ruins, David and Shannon must alter their balance of power or risk losing everything important – including their love. There’s one alternative left. Domestic Discipline. While the intense change is amazing, both are left with fear and self-doubt. As old behaviors resurface, they’re forced to face secrets from the past.
Will the new dynamic be enough? Are they strong enough? Do they love each other enough?
Publisher’s Note: This steamy contemporary three-book set includes elements of angst, betrayal, and power exchange but guarantees an HEA. Experience the journey of a couple deeply in love, struggling to hold on to what they hold dear.
This book has me a hugely torn, to be honest, because there is a huge, glaring discrepancy that I can't believe wasn't picked up before it was published. I really loved the concept of a more mature couple, Shannon and David, fighting to save their marriage and when I got to part 2, I thought it was on target for a five star review. I was blown away my the realism of this couples struggle to attempt to connect through an alternative lifestyle and the fact that it wasn't all roses. It was refreshing to find a storyline where the couple don't just employ Domestic Discipline as a lifestyle choice and then live happily ever after, because let's face it, that's fairly unrealistic, so I was utterly engaged by reading about the way they each wrestled with the effort it involved and how difficult it was to maintain. I didn't really like the way the book was decided into three. I initially thought it must have been three separate books which had been previously released and then put together as a box set, but I can't actually find any evidence for that, and I did look. The three parts just served to make the overall flow of the story disjointed and I had trouble getting my head around what was going on when I started the next one, even while reading them all together Sadly the final part was a absolute let down. It almost felt like it had been written by a completely different person and the thing that killed it for me was the fact that a massive part of the storyline just changed as if the author didn't remember what she'd previously written and I can't believe that wasn't picked up by the publisher. Very poor indeed! *Spoiler Alert* At the end of book two we have a truly heartfelt scene where, after keeping it secret for over 10 years, Shannon finally comes clean about her ex husband, Mark. She tearfully admits how he lost his job, became drunken and abusive and wouldn't allow her to go anywhere except the library where she meets quiet, studious Jeffrey who she ends up having an affair with. Mark finds out, drags her home, beats her so badly she loses the baby she's carrying and apparently would have died if her friend Tina hadn't found her and taken her to hospital while Mark hunts down Jeffrey and beats him to death. Okay, now we have the back story and that would have been fine, except in part three the back story is no longer the same. Suddenly Mark is not an unemployed drunk but the wide receiver for the New England Patriots, and Jeffrey is no longer Jeffrey from the library but Wallace 'Jonesy' Jones, (or is it Walker as he is later referred to? Another discrepancy) Mark's close friend and the teams quarterback. Shannon is no longer the stereotypical abused and isolated wife, but a career woman who is pregnant with her lovers child. Mark goes berserk when he finds out, backhands Shannon into a wall and she falls again when she tries to intervene in the ensuing fight between the two men, losing the baby in the process. In this version of events Mark calls his manager afterwards and there is no mention of Tina at all. And David who has now been told both versions reacts as if this is the first time he's heard the story. No 'what about the story you told me the first time?' Just complete acceptance of a totally different scenario!! I mean REALLY? I actually went back and reread several parts of this book to see if I had misunderstood things somewhere along the line, but no. Finally the book drivels down to everything being unrealistically tied up in a neat bow. Mark and Shannon decide to put the past behind them and be 'friends' Seriously? After he killed her lover and her baby, ruined her life and left her with nightmares because she was terrified of him? David tracks down his ex wife and makes amends for his own shortcomings. Shannon gets her dream job and there's even a miracle just to add to the lack of realism. Shannon, who has been unable to have children after what happened to her, finds herself pregnant and they all live happily ever after.. Frankly if it wasn't for the fact that Part Two of this book was so strong, I'd only be giving it three stars... I'm still thinking that I should.

I get marriage is hard. Like damn I have seen it first hand what it can do to people but I did not like this. I lost interest mid-book and skipped the rest. There was too much repetitive drama between husband and wife for me.
This does cover real life problems in a marriage such as temptation, affairs, betrayal, trust and peoples pasts. However I was just not able to connect with the characters and I found myself bored and felt like I wasted my time.
This book has BDSM in it in the form of domestic discipline. Did not fancy it, especially with the two character's personalities.
I felt like there was something missing and it could have been better. It started off well but just turned rather bland.
David and Shannon's story broke my heart and then put it back together again!!! The emotions and feelings I got from this story were overwhelming at times. I wanted to just reach through the book and shake them both so bad and then the next instant, give them a huge hug and cry with them. Yes, I cried and got upset with how the characters kept things to themselves instead of opening up to each other. Ms. Stone has a gift for making her readers feel every emotion that the characters are going through. It keeps you wanting to turn the pages and forget about everything else because you NEED to know what is going to happen next. This is a story I will read over and over!!!
I lost interest mid-book and skipped the rest; there was too much repetitive drama between husband and wife for me. Still I found it to be emotional seing a couple struggling to re-invente itself.
Ms. Piper Stone ranks as one of my all-time favorite authors with her uncanny ability to take her readers on a journey and how she weaves so many emotions into her stories. She throws in little things hinting that much more is to come, and you can’t help but keep the pages turning as you are immersed in her tales and the lives of her characters. She has never disappointed me with her amazing story-telling talent. This story was gut-wrenching and had me laughing, crying and groaning with the lives of Shannon and David Parker.
The story is the journey of a married couple, David and Shannon Parker; it is broken down into three sections. It is a very raw emotional journey to save a marriage of ten years. It isn’t something they enter in lightly, but with research, discussions, guidance, rules, and a trial period. The bickering has ended, no more name calling, accusations, and unhappiness—at least for a little while. The journey into a domestic discipline marriage starts as a way to save a marriage—for David and Shannon; it is a game changer, but it isn’t an easy journey. Secrets have a way of trying to sabotage their happiness.
ANTICIPATION
David and Shannon are a ticking time-bomb ready to detonate. They are both on edge with each other, name calling, bickering, and both extremely unhappy. Shannon has learned something about David that has shattered her world, making her even nastier. David will take a step away, going to stay with his business partner to give them a break. Is this the end of their marriage?
“She’s willful, mouthy, and opinionated. She even borders on rude. She calls me filthy names and loses control at least once a day. She tries my patience, and I swear to God, she’s trying to shove me out of her life.”
But Shannon will run into an old friend, Tina, who tells her about domestic discipline and how it helps and encourages her to do her own research. At this point, what does she have to lose?
“Where there is punishment, there is also absolution. And there is love.”
“If you truly love each other, you’ll do anything and everything it takes to find a way back to each other, no matter the obstacles and no matter how difficult the very aspect is for either of you. The people most in love are the ones who are selfless, as well as committed.”
“I’m terrified of disappointing you because I know what that’s going to mean.”
DECISION
The second part of the story has been the hardest, deepest, emotional roller-coaster ride to read. OMG, I felt physical as well as emotional pain for both David and Shannon. Both are struggling, with their jobs, with other people in their lives and with each other. What seemed to be going well with their foray into domestic discipline has hit a brick wall, and they are both floundering. And now, the bickering has started again.
“She was flat out lying to him. Why? Because you aren’t there for her.”
“This isn’t about trying. It’s about needing to the point you must live this way. You taught me that. You did.”
“They’d both crossed the line into another realm. What they did with the understanding now would shape or destroy them.”
When a potential client makes her moves on David, he is shocked, flattered, and unsure how to handle her. She will be so bold to make her moves on him in front of Shannon and in public. Then Shannon is hurt and just knows he is having an affair; he is back to working late, that she doesn’t trust him. What happens when her new intern is a hot, younger man, and he exudes sex appeal and makes it know he is interested in her?
“I don’t want you to give up on us. I haven’t. I refuse to.” –Shannon
“Just because we’re having problems doesn’t mean I’ll run into the arms of another woman. And just because you have concerns doesn’t mean you can act like a child. Am I clear?”
Will Tina be able to talk sense into Shannon before she goes too far and crosses the line? How far is a friend willing to go? Even if it will risk their friendship, to try and help? Shannon and David are both on the precipice of falling over the edge—and if either one does, it will end their marriage.
“Will you stop for one minute? You jump to conclusions about everything and always have. That’s part of the issue here. You aren’t giving David the benefit of the doubt. You aren’t allowing him to take control. From what I can tell and from what you’ve told me, you aren’t giving him the power. You’re usurping power from underneath. You have to turn over the reins to him, or this won’t work. My guess is, David is reeling from not knowing what to do, and you’re pushing him. If you don’t stop, you’re going to push him completely out of your life.” –Tina
Will a boot camp for DD and D/s help them? David is willing to try, and that will be their next journey to save their marriage. Secrets will be revealed, and now the healing can begin.
“As they held each other, David shivered and prayed to God he had the strength. The next chapter was going to be the most difficult of his life, but he was going to let nothing stand in the way of helping her heal. And in the end, maybe he could as well.”
DISCIPLINE
The more projects for David and Bruce to expand their business, the less time he has at home with Shannon and the doubts and insecurities start creeping in. Shannon fears he is having an affair and acts out. Will the DD boot camp be an answer to save their marriage? Will they learn and embrace Total Power Exchange? Will Stephen Robbins have the answers?
“Open—Honest—Giving—Truthful—Loving.”
“Remember, every relationship is about two people, two entities and two souls. Trust begins with communication, and communication begins with total honesty. The DD relationship is not something you can adapt to overnight. You’re going to make mistakes.”
Work for Shannon includes a major case she has been working on—but even with it, she is distracted, and when the board of directors summons her for a meeting, she believes this is the end, that she is being fired—but the news is exciting, frightening, and something that she must consider, but what will David say? What about his business? What about the moves Jameson is making towards her? What about their DD boot camp week? What happens when work, especially Jameson, interferes with her vacation time? Will David understand, or will he give her an ultimatum—and what will she do? When will David open up about his past and let Shannon in?
“Women need honesty more than anything. They don’t care, at the end of the day, how much money you make or how many bobbles you give them. They see so many gifts as an admittance of something, some betrayal. Just talk with her. Tell her what happened in your past. Just remember those deep feelings you have for her. Shannon may be a strong woman, but she must have a stronger man. The saddest aspect is, most men have no idea how to be as strong as they need to be. However, I have a very good feeling about you and about your marriage.”
Lot of intensive, emotional content but not really for me. This book describes an unusual approach to solving marital problems. Shannon and David have been happily married for over 10 years and theirs was a love match. However, 10 years down the line, they absolutely annoy the living daylights out of one another and are totally incapable of having a simple conversation without it ending in a shouting match filled with obscenities. Shannon's makes a suggestion after David walks out to put some distance between them so they could see the woods from the trees in their relationship. She suggests 'Domestic Discipline which is practically another name for a Dominant/Submissive scenario only between cohabiting people, married or otherwise. Personally I didn't appreciate the approach as David's character has doubts and fears but doesn't understand the physical limits he can go to in his punishment. However it was sad to see how far was Shannon was prepared to go to save her marriage. Would allowing your husband to beat you really provide the momentum for tipping a dying relationship onto it's happy conclusion?! Maybe. But for how long?!

This book is not an accurate depiction of dd and should not be read as such. What this is is a deeply unpleasant book about a deeply unpleasant couple who say and do deeply unpleasant things to each other. DD cannot fix a relationship that is broken (it takes too much trust and there's clearly no trust between David and Shannon). In addition, this book includes one of my pet peeves: while both are at fault (I would argue that David is more so since Shannon has very reasonable concerns about his fidelity), Shannon is the only one to pay the price.
If you're reading this as fantasy, well, go for it (though I still think it's unpleasant).
Also, I believe this book was published before? If so, the blurb should provide that disclaimer.
Piper Stone is fast becoming one of my favorite fet fiction writers. Her stuff can get off-the-charts arousing so given this is billed as a DD (my jam, baby!) story I had high exceptions for this entry.
I did like it but, holy frijole these two characters were exhausting. David and Shannon aren't cyborgs or oil rig workers or FBI agents or MC members, anything that I might have been used to---these two very real, individually flawed and emotionally damaged characters in a troubled marriage that hope domestic discipline can set their relationship to rights.
Their story is told in 3 independent segments, but with the two of them making the same mistakes at every juncture. That was what got exhausting, along with the presence in their lives of of other minor characters trying to break up their marriage and get into one of the spouse's pants. And...in a few cases those efforts met with a measure of success. So CW if the author doesn't indicate this beforehand for you: there is enough here to meet the definition of 'cheating'. I don't personally need stories certified as "SAFE", but I had built enough connection to these lovers that I felt a personal level of hurt and disappointment in their repeated misunderstandings and poor choices.
I'm impressed, again, at Piper Stone's level of talent, and I look forward to her further creative output.
This story is a very private view into a married couple's life as they try to commit to a DD relationship in order to save their marriage. The story shows how difficult such an undertaking can be. I believe that typically at least one partner has always had such a relationship in the back of their minds before attempting to introduce it to the other partner. But in this case Shannon finds out from a friend about DD and decides to investigate it. She does a lot of research, and then presents the idea to David. David's best friend has a brother that engages in DD in her marriage. A bit too convenient, but it allows David to feel that perhaps this DD thing isn't so weird. This couple says awful things to each other, and their fidelity to one another comes into question. Yet they profess deep love for one another. I don't think a couple who truly feel such love disparages each other the way they do. Nevertheless, the story does depict how difficult a DD relationship can be to not only establish, but to maintain. It requires a deep commitment from both parties. And both David and Shannon struggle with this. But overall a good realistic look at DD.

Shannon and David had been married for ten years but now their marriage was in trouble. They were nasty to each other and even though they loved each other the couldn’t get together on anything. Shannon’s fiend Tina recommend they try Domestic Dominance. This trilogy is about their journey to become more intimate through DD. It is at times a bit erotic and they definitely have some very hot encounters. The author does a good job of explaining the benefits and pitfalls that a couple taking on this lifestyle would experience. The characters are flawed and multidimensional and develop and solidify their personalities as the story continues. At times it is a hard read because of the emotional trauma that they go through and the barriers to success they face. It seems like a realistic depiction of what life was like for them. The writer does a great job of telling their story and I had to read it all the way through to see how it was going to turn out. It is a compelling and complicated storyline worth exploring.

I am torn... Piper Stone is one of my favourite authors, and this should be 5*s but it trips up about a third of the way into the book. The story is great, the writing is great but.... this is not one book but three that have been issued as one book. The first book is good and sets the book up very well, the second reads as an extension into the book and you are invested as a reader, the third part reads as if the book was put on pause, then picked up and the author then catches up on the story before continuing the story. If I had know that the book would read that way, I would have expected it and accepted it, but I read this as an ARC with no other reviews at the time and literally tripped over it as I read the book.
Is this worth reading, yes. I hope that the book has an edit before the final publication, but do not be put off if it has not had a change, just pause before reading the third and last part of the book

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I loved it. This also brought me to a better understanding of Domestic Discipline which I personally always love to learn something new or learn more about a topic. The story is all about how a married couple, David and Shannon, whose marriage is struggling but neither one is ready to give up on it yet. David and Shannon take the reader through the journey of getting their marriage back on track and back to happiness. It is interesting how easy it is to make the same mistakes when you are not consciously or continually aware of what you say and do. We see that from both David and Shannon. I found this book to be very interesting, entertaining and one the realistic side where life and relationships are not all the hottest, steamiest sex and no problems to challenge you.

Wow...I was not prepared for the emotions this book made me fee from sadness, anger to sheer happiness and I even cried in places...If you think it would be a run of the mill romance then this will definitely change your mind. This is a story about a husband and wife who have hit rock bottom in their marriage... after the all the arguments, accusations, and fights about who’s doing/not doing things to having an affairs, you’d think divorce would be a definite thing but Shannon and David decide that their marriage is worth the effort to save so after some suggestions from friends to give DD or domestic discipline a go. And i like that you get to experience the point of views from both characters on how they’re feeling from the first punishment to the end, well worth the read and definitely 5 star worthy.
Donna L 4.0 out of 5 starsIntense May 23, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition What i loved about this book was how Ms Stone has written a story that is uncompromising in her depiction of a marriage that is in tatters. We learn of the internal struggles of both David and Shannon as they attempt to save their marriage. I doubted at times throughout all their fighting that their was anything worth left saving.I have read many books about domestic discipline relationships with all its issues, but few have been successfully at presenting the males reluctance and concerns as this book has.David and Shannon's journey of discovery through disharmony, desire, trust and ultimately love was filled with hope. The dichotomy of their emotions were raw, painful, fearful of failure, yet filled with a promise of a brighter future.Another well written story by Ms Stone
I love marriage romances but this one was filled with cheating and I had a hard time accepting it. David and Shannon are on the brink of a catastrophic breakup. They claimed to love each other but it turned out that they were emotionally damaged from previous relationships. The ups and downs, back and forth waffling in this story was frustrating. Combined with the cheating on both sides, well, it was a no for me. Bruce was an unbelievably wise and loyal friend to David and in a sense, to Shannon as well. It just accentuated the boneheaded personality of David. The whole scene with Anastasia, his new client, and the extent and excuses he made for her kind of sickened me. I mean, how many times did Bruce have to walk in on them? My heart hurt for them both.

This is the first book of Piper Stone's I've read and what an introduction to her work! We are given an up close and personal look of David and Shannon Parker's ten year marriage. For the past months there have been nothing but arguing, fighting, name calling, resentment, and borderline hatred of each other. Divorce appears to be on the immediate horizon until they decide to try changing their lifestyle using Domestic Discipline. Piper Stone has broken this story into three parts. All emotionally intense and sexually charged. But as more than half of today's population knows, fixing a relationship is hard work, regardless of the means used. An emotionally charged rollercoaster with flawed characters and a sexual chemistry that burns between them, this is one you don't want to miss.
It is definitely not fast read,so many emotions, ups and down on this journey that I was loosing hope foe any reconciliation. When you are married, you either grow together or apart. They definitely grow apart, lack of communication, bitter words. Can they get the spark back? Forgive and forget? She decided that is worth to fight, very unconventional way. After some help from friends they decides to try DD. A drastic change, but this was last chance. Will they use it ? As much I like the story, the infidelity took some stars away. It’s no,no for me

OMG how much angst and emotional turmoil can Piper Stone put her characters through in these three books. How could any marriage survive everything the author threw at them without breaking down emotionally and physically. The rawness and level of hurt and pain were off the charts as Shannon and David struggle to add DD to their lifestyle, without the knowledge or ability to make it really happen in the correct way. And, man oh man, does that cause a few problems for them along the way. This book has betrayal, jealousy, heartache, despair, hope, and most importantly, love. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Blushing Books.
I have read a number of other books by Piper Stone and loved them, but not this one. Both David and Shannon are very unhappy, and suffering from the problems of previous relationships, so that their marriage is in trouble. They try to solve the problems with Domestic Discipline and other issues crop up. The book is a long discussion of their personal problems and issues, and very little relief from the mental pain and suffering expressed by both characters, although at the end there is a HEA.
Ive got really mixed reviews about this book. I Loved the storyline but wanted so much more from the characters. I felt some chapters were just dull a bit too long winded. I loved the twists and turns till the last book were it just felt like Deja'vu I would like to think before you marry someone who you love you would know some of their history like being married before. But over all I did enjoy this book. I just feel it has so much more to give.

David and Shannon are both tired of the venomous arguments leaving them with a shell of a marriage. They are sure they are headed to divorce court when Shannon runs into a good friend that tells her about Domestic Discipline that has saved many marriages with the husband being the head of household and the wife agreeing to certain rules that the husband sets up. There are a lot of rough patches that they have to sail through. Will this save their marriage or will secrets they both harbor derail everything?
What is so well done about this book is Ms. Stone compels me through her words and plot-twists to care a great deal about the two main characters, Shannon and David even though I kept getting mad at them because of the stupid situations that they kept getting themselves into. This book deals with loyalty, love, risks, and conflicts with the storyline being intriguing, engaging, and well developed. This author truly knows how to pull her readers in and not let go.
Imperfect Consequences is a compilation of three stories. Piper Stone writes about the journey of David and Shannon. They both love each other very much, but there is some trust broken and a lot of wounded feelings. It is a long journey until Shannon and David are back on track. There were scenes where I felt as if I am riding a rollercoaster, my feelings were all over the place. Needless to say I enjoyed this long read very much.
A couples journey into domestic discipline... Shannon and David Parker’s relationship has been deteriorating for months. They’ve been unkind and disrespectful towards each other. They still love each other but agreed they couldn’t continue with their relationship the way it was. A friend of Shannon’s suggested a domestic discipline lifestyle and after researching the Parker’s decided to try. Their secrets and lies keep getting in the way of a happy healthy relationship.
This was a very emotional journey taken by David and Shannon. They have been married for ten years and each had baggage from previous relationships. Their marriage is i n trouble and after lengthy research they try domestic discipline. This seems to work for a while but then secrets and misunderstandings start to creep in. A very engrossing story and another great example of Piper Stone's writing ability.

3.5 stars I had mixed feelings about the book. I felt the history should may be have been revealed earlier because the story did make more sense. I did find their struggles a bit repetitive which I don't mind when it's showing relationship struggles but waiting ten yrs for some baggage to come out is too long in my opinion particularly when the struggles keep recurring. I did have a difficult time with DD to begin with which is totally a personal opinion.
This is not typical read for me so was not sure what to expect. The characters are well developed and the storyline flowed smoothly. There was so much hurt to this couple from page one that it took me through a roller coaster of emotions that I couldn’t decide who or what to cheer for. This definitely is not an insta happy ending I’m used to reading.

I had to look up Domestic Discipline because frankly I didn't believe it was real. I still can't. I made it through the first part of the book but then found myself disbelieving and bored. There was just too much. Too much fighting, too much spanking, and too much sex after the spankings. All I can really said is maybe this works for some, but I think it sets women back 100 years. Not for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. When you are married, you either grow together or apart. This story explores this problem. Can you get the spark back? Can you look at each other with love and not distain? Forgive and forget? Ot so eady. This couple decides to try DD. A drastic change, but maybe they need it. Hand, hairbrush.
This is a three-book set that tells the story of David and Shannon. David and Shannon’s marriage is in trouble and they try domestic discipline to try and safe it. Will it work? Will other’s try and break them up? This is an emotional ride with loads of drama and suspense. The characters really draw you into the read and you can feel their pain, hurt and angst. A good read!
