To know me is to love me. My identity begins with my name but makes a statement with my pen. I'm a mother of two and a wife of one. My love for writing began at the age of two. That's right I first wrote my name at the age of two and I've been writing ever since. Growing up I always felt invisible. I suffered from that 'Middle Child Syndrome', so when my voice wasn't heard, I made my own story. My journal and my pen became my companion. I would write stories where my characters looked like me (thick, tall, and pretty), they loved to read, was educated, and realistic. The older I got the more my imagination grew, which caused my stories to be more diverse. Becoming an author came about in an unintentional way. I've been through many things in my adult life. My husband, who's my backbone, has always admired my strength. We suffered a devastating loss, our daughter. My husband urged me to tell my story, to be a light for someone else. I took him up on his advice and wrote my pains and truths. I love weaving stories, touching readers with relatable characters and situations. I give life lessons, unconditional love, dedication, a little crazy, and a whole lot of truth. I have a saying that I live by; 'I don't just write books;I tell stories'.
Sooo... there aren't any Phoenix but there is some "rebirth"wtf🙈
Now, MS. Sumter is my girl, but this right here, she is all wrong for that... I couldn't understand what she was working with. I thought this was primarily about Phoenix aka Rebirth and Kyandra aka Yo-Yo, with a little bit of softening with Duke and Kenocha aka lil' baby, but was I wrong... This was truly the story of Duke and lil' baby then came the others. Phoenix "rebirth" was or should have been all man, bad ass and all that, but you MS. Sumter made him look so week and just as Yo-Yo though, a nerd playing at being tough and all. Then Kyandra "Yo-Yo" , had a wonderful background going on, where a lot of African American women are dealing with from the overweight, obese, independent, always making the bad choice, self confidence, self reassurance, haters specially from family, self esteem, but instead of making her and this an educated trip for a bunch of us, you litterarily switch it up, not take advantage of such diverse crowd, your readers, and drop this like it was an infected disease. This was the best platform for anything because it touched upon several things in Yo-Yo's life and everyday life. But all was not loss, as we ended up having a wonderful, cute, little romance story between Duke and Lil' baby. Duke was the bomb and the everything in there. That's what's up!!! Kevvin, Lazarus, Yvette and Vicky plus Triggah, as well as blocks, Quad and Carmen, all deserved everything that came their way... Thank god for miracles.... This was an ok read... Did not deserved a 5 because it had several grammatical errors, run on sentences and it was confusing much. Then it sped up and bamb, crack, clapp, everything happened....yeah, right!!!
Um.. yea.. I feel light I've lost a few of my brain cells trying to understand this novel. Although very interesting it's also kind of mind boggling. I thought yo yo and rebirth were the main attraction. It's just all over alot. 2.5 for the interest and 2.5 coz of the confusion and grammar errors. This is a new author for me so I'm still trying to figure her out. I will binge read her books and then come to my final conclusio. As far as this book. Its boring, yet interesting at the same time. A slow read I. The beginning then it picks up. Not really a bomb read but definitely not a trash one either, if that makes since.. you have to read this one yourself and form your own opinion because truthfully I really dont have one regarding recommending this book..
The storyline is fabulous! I love the complexity of the characters. The depth of the story is good. What caused this rating is the extremely poor use of grammar, poor editing and proofreading, and the “homemade slang” that was used. Not every thug or goon speaks the English language this poorly. I almost stopped reading this great story due to the grammatical errors. The imagination of the author is unbelievable. The editing and proofreading leave a lot to be desired. A story that should have earned a five-star rating received a generous three-star rating because of the poor grammar skills displayed. Find a better proofreader, and know that your career will grow even more.
After the many books I've read from this author, I can say this was a disappointment. The storyline really didn't follow like her usual books. This one seemed rushed and all over the place. The storyline just kept adding unnecessary characters and drama , that wasn't really needed. Other than Duke and Kennocha, Kyandra and Phoenix characters just didn't feel real. That whole Rebirth thing was just totally dumb, Keanu had more balls than Rebirth. Kyandra was just childish and immature. Loved me some Duke and Kennocha they were on their grown folks ish. You missed the mark on this one Kendra😴
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Shows that you can never judge a person, they might be just what you need. Exactly what happened with YoYo, she was looking for love and it was right in her face in the form of Phoenix. At some points she got on my nerves, but with his help she got there. Duke and Lol Baby was just right for each other. So glad all the snakes got exactly what they deserved. Glad the couples got their happy ending, they deserved it. Job well done Kendra Sumter.
In your stories I admire the values of the men character, because of their strength, their protective, supportive and nurturing side that they display towards the women in their lives and to other respectable females. Definitely not when they act like Yvette and Vickey. I love their display of affection because that's how Kings suppose to treat their Queens and vise versa. Everyone had growing up to do and that's what they did by trusting, forgiving, loving and making better and smart choices. Great Read! ReneeG 👍 I NEED AND WANT MORE!
I am so damn annoyed with this book. I get the author was trying to be unique with the names but it only took away from the book . Why did Kevvin name need two V’s and the female characters names was extra as hell I literally had to rename them in my mind so I could get through the book. Why give the female character a nickname that was barely used. I like the nickname better than her real name. Besides that the book was pretty good even with how extra the author was with the story at times. In this case less would have been better.
First, let me say that every book I read by Mrs. Kendra is a winner. But this right here is in my top 5. All your books are my fave but this one touches me on a deeper level. Phoenix and Duke bae all day. Nocha and Yoyo class acts. Jealousy is an in thing and it makes people do all kinds of hateful shiy. Keanu got what his looney ass deserved. Fantastic read.
The book was amazing!!! The book had me at the edge of my seat at work!!! Duke and Nocha (lil baby) love them together and separate they were made for each other!!! Phoenix and Yo-Yo they were made for each also!! Kevvin and Quad and Triggah SMH!!! They deserved everything. But duke n rebirth boys were a trip in a half lol !! But phenomenal book as always!! Pen game is sick!! #favoritealltimeauthor
Kendra did her thing with story. It was long enjoyable ride, loved it was a standalone. The characters were as diverse as they come. The idiots... Yvette, Lazarus, Keanu and Vicky were so sad individuals that met there Karma in the best ways!! The Keanu/Triggah thing threw me for a minute!! The build up of Yoyo and Phoenix loves was beautiful to watch. Duke and Lil baby were made for each other and it showed.
I know it says the end but I need a part 2 to this book. The way it ended left it open and I got no closure but the book was amazing. I love the fact that you had a plus size sister that had confidence. And she had a man who loved her. Now with Nocha I loved her attitude and the way she carry herself. I can't wait for your next book.
OMG! Where do I start? Entertaining! Had me cracking up at times! Kyandra and Nocha are some bad mamacitas! Duke and Phoenix got it going on! Twists and turns of this read had me hooked! Yvette, Vicky, Keanu and that Lazarus got what they deserved! Love these standalones!
As always Kendra you did an amazing job. Even through they had enemies come from everywhere they had nothing on Phoenix(Rebirth) and Duke. The relationship they had with Kyandra and Kennocha was so beautiful. They kept me laughing I'm going to miss them but was glad to meet them. Keep up the awesome work.
I will start with the negative, I really did not like the word youse. It was used so much, I'm assuming that is either east coast or down south thing. But overall it was a good read. I love Duke and noche. I'm glad yo yo start acting more mature. Phe was okay, i liked how he showed yoyo love
What we see 👀 people as, is just your assumption, until you get to know the whole person. Then you find out, that was needed and wanted could be the same. Phoenix and Duke was the real deal and Kyandra and Kennocha was young, real but still learning. But plagued by betrayal from all their pasts with danger brewing. They got the needed and wanted in the end.
I love this book . YoYo was definitely taught a lesson . I loved Rebirth 😘I want more even though it was a stand-alone This author is the bomb I have was all her books and look forward to the next release
You better do the damn thing! I'm not even surprised by this work of gold. You ALWAYS deliver a good story. I'm so sad to see it end. Now ill be stalking you for my next fix. Good job hunting.
This author NEVER disappoints ALL her books r 🔥🔥🔥🔥this books shows u can never judge a person from the outside Yo-Yo and Lil Baby deserved happiness and they found it.another book down job well done.✅✅✅✅
There was entirely too much going on for me in this book. I’m not a fan of this style of writing. Had the potential to be great but I wasn’t feeling it. I liked the relationship that nocha and duke had. It took a while for Kyiandra and Phoenix to get it together
Oooh Kendra this was so good... Phoenix and Duke is bae... Kyandra & Kennocha are loyal and real... I'm so glad that they got their happy ending... I'm so glad that Triggah, Yvette, and Lazarus got their KARMA... Sad to see the story end...
So glad Vicky, Yvette, Keanu, and Lazarus got what was coming to them. This story was well written and I couldn't put it down. Keep up the amazing work. I love me some duke and rebirth
It took a long ti.s to get to the excitement of the story but when it started it was worth the reading to get there I love the p!it great inaction with the couple's love your writing skills I hope the rest of the readers enjoy the book just as my n X I did
Yesss this was good...Storyline was on point..Kept me very interested and mind blowing...Them goons was the truth and straight savages!!? The ladies went through hell and come back on top and found true love...Really enjoyed this!!! Great job👏👏👏
We can chose our friends but sadly we can't choose our family. A mother is supposed to love their children unconditionaly. Jealousy can cause a person to not think straight and move carelessly. You want to get on a wild rollercoaster ride then read this book.
Well, I love all of Ms. Sumter book. I enjoyed the characters, but I was disappointed in the ending. I can’t believe I’m writing this but there should have been a part 2. The book was very rushed...
A great read that is well written with a steady flow. I enjoyed every page of this story. The characters are interesting and well developed. Drama filled with plenty of crazy characters.
I love the rawness and the passion that comes from Phoenix and Duke I just love them and they Relationships with the Girls this book was the fuckin Bomb keep up the GREAT work....
You have done it again! I love your writing style and your sense of humor! I can always count on you for a drama filled hilarious read. I loved all of the main characters in this story line, but Lil Baby/ Chocolate Chip was my favorite. Great job!
This was the Bomb💖...Keyandra got on My last nerves 😂 I loved her Cousin Kennosha...Oh My, Rebirth & Duke were My Favs...& I'm glad all the Trash got taken out...Cause honey they were something else lol..Great Read✔️
