Gemma Marie was born and raised in Leeds, England. A passionate oncology nurse, in 2012 she decided to take a leap of faith that would see her move to the deserts of Saudi Arabia to pursue her dreams of travelling the world.
Always a keen writer, it was during her travels across the Middle East and spending time working and living on tropical islands that her debut poetry book 'screaming wings' was born.
Taking inspiration from her own fight against society's norms and expectations, today Gemma spends her time enjoying an eclectic life of travelling, writing and nursing. She hopes to inspire others with her poetry and prose telling her story of diversion from the world's rat race.
Along with her passion for poetry, over the years Gemma has worked as a freelance travel writer and continues to work in her role as an oncology nurse across the world.

This is a collection of poetry that I read on Kindle Unlimited which I first heard about on Beth's YT channel (BooksNest) and so, me being me, I had to borrow my copy to read. I enjoyed how fast-moving the writing and pacing were throughout. The poems themselves (all 180 in this collection) about what you really want from your life and having that motivational boost that you may just have been searching for. I really liked Gemma's writing style and hope to read more of her works soon!

I am a big fan of short powerful quotes, so this poetry collection was perfect for me. There are a lot of little gems in here, many of which I found myself highlighting and coming back to. I am excited to see what Gemma writes next.

Wake up and feast your eyes
the sky is clear blue
the sun seeps through the window pane
reflecting off the dew
remember every day is different
this morning is brand new
a chance to warm your heart again
after all you’ve put it through.
