Still Crazy

Rate this book
Kevin Allen, a rich, handsome author and self-reformed ‘Mack’, is now suffering from writer’s block. Desperately in need of a great story in order to renegotiate with his publisher to maintain his extravagant life-style, Kevin decides to go back to his hometown of Chicago for inspiration. While in Chi-town, he gets reacquainted with an ex-love (Yolanda) that he’d last seen during their stormy relationship that violently came to an end. Unexpectedly, Yolanda appears at a book-event where Kevin is the star-attraction, looking every bit as stunningly beautiful as the picture he’s had frozen in his head for years. She still has the looks of music video model and almost makes him forget as to the reason he’d ever broken off their relationship. It’s no secret, Yolanda had always been the jealous type. And, Kevin’s explanation to his boyz, defending his decision for kicking a woman that fine to the curb was, "She’s Crazy!". The combination of Kevin’s vulnerable state in his career, along with the tantalizing opportunity to hit that again, causes Kevin to contemplate renewing his expired Players-Card, one last time. What harm could one night of passion create? Clouding his judgment even more is that Kevin feels like hooking-up with Yolanda might just be the rekindling needed to ignite the fire for his creativity in his writing career. But, there are just two problems. Kevin is married! ...And, Yolanda is Still Crazy!

Book Review for October

Everyone makes horrible decisions in life. These decisions either make you or break you. Before these decisions, you have a choice. You can either give in to temptation or you can simply walk away from the situation no matter how hard it is.
Situations like this applies to people like Kevin Allen. Kevin Allen is this rich, handsome author who is a retired player and starts to suffer from writers block. He is in need of a great story in order to renegotiate his deal with his publisher to continue with this dream lifestyle. He decides to visit his hometown, The Windy City, Chicago, to get some ideas for his new book, but while he’s there, he gets himself into a world of trouble with his beautiful but devious ex girlfriend, Yolanda Carter. While in Chi- Town, Kevin has a book event where he is the main attraction, and Yolanda shows up and supposedly “shows her support”. Instead she finds a way to talk Kevin into a one-night stand, but instead of it being just that, Yolanda catches more feelings for Kevin than she already had, and manages to not only ruin Kevin’s career but ruins his marriage with his drop dead gorgeous wife, Tamara Allen who has a trick up her sleeve for her.
The author, Darrin Lowery, definitely describes his characters from looks to personality. He also uses very little flashback moments , and he uses dialogue very well especially between characters. His only problem was that he didn’t proof read his work very well because I spotted a few errors in the book. This was a great book and I would definitely go out and get the sequel to this book if it exists.

Certifiably Good!

Bestselling author Kevin Allen is in a slump. A writing slump. His next book will be the last book of his current contract. He knows that if he wants a more lucrative deal he really needs to bring it with his latest book. His wife Tamara suggests that maybe he should go back home to Chicago to get those creative juices flowing. Never in her wildest dreams did she know that that suggestion would be the first link of a chain reaction as Kevin finds his old stomping grounds to be a muse for his writing as well as his libido.

Yolanda Carter is thrilled to learn that her former fiance Kevin is back in town. She figures this is the perfect opportunity for them to rekindle the love they once shared. A love that never stopped for her. She's not going to let a little thing like his wife get in her way. Kevin will be hers by any means necessary. And if she can't have him, then no one will.

Darrin does a fantastic job of weaving an intricate plot filled with drama, deceit, betrayal, lust and revenge. Reminiscent Lynn Whitfield in 'A Thin Line Between Love and Hate' Yolanda is off her rocker! I loved the character Gladys. Very much looking forward to the sequel. Would love to see many of the characters return in the sequel or books of their own.(hint...hint...hint) This is my second read by this author. He's 2-0.

Kevin Allen, an author with one book left on his current contract seems to be agonizing with writer's block. It could be because it's his hope to renegotiate in order to preserve his excessive lifestyle with his beautiful wife Tamara in Somerton, North Carolina.

In a dire need to find himself, and give him and Tamara a much needed break Kevin decides it's time to go home. CHICAGOING refueled and anticipating the streets he loves will readily turn out a much needed story. Kevin quickly reverts from that married in love country boy, to that thug down Chi-town Playa.

What's that Bell, Biv, and Devoe sang... That girl is P-O-I-S-O-N, never trust a big butt and a smile.

The worst thing that could happen while Kevin is enjoying himself in the Chi, is coming into contact with Yolanda "Yogi" Carter. Yes she's diva fine, a super freak, and extremely dysfunctional. Kevin + Yolanda= Disaster. With all of the people sounding off as to why not, the craving is too strong to defy. It'll only be this one time. A night of passion comes at a high price.

Sweltering excitement crammed with lessons, drama, and unfaithfulness. Darrin Lowery obviously has a very unique love for music. I can't hardly wait for the other installment.
