I want to start by saying that this book has some good information. My great-grandfather was in the CCC and I recently asked my aunt what he did. I was confused by her response but a sentence in the book helped me figure out what she meant/what my great-grandpa did.
That being said, this book is really repetitive, longer than it probably needs to be, and (at least for me) the structuring is weird. I kept putting it down because it wasn’t holding my attention.
I really enjoyed reading the history of the CCCs, but the best chapter is the accounts of men's stories. Everyone talked about hard work, good food, and responsibility that stayed with them for a lifetime.
