I thought the first two books of this series was good now to read the third book of the series it’s even better than the first two. Now I have to wait till the fourth book comes out which should be as good as the first three.
The book ended too soon. I enjoy apocalyptic stories that you can actually see happen if an event occurred. People are real. People live, die, get hurt, lie, betray.....and life goes on.
A question was asked recently about what is more important in a book. The characters or the storyline. I have to stay the storyline. Because if you write like this author, the characters dead or alive are engrained in the book and they never die because they made an impression. Definitely looking forward to reading Book Four!
Darkest Days is the third in the Still Surviving series, in this instalment things do get a bit darker as the title would indicate with our small group of survivors finding out that certain alliances aren't what they appear.
There's more action than the prior two books, and we get to know the characters involved in even greater detail, particularly Emily.
Once again, the author ends on a huge cliff hanger, so be prepared to commit to the fourth book as well if you're interested in reading this.
The fight for survival is in full swing. The opposition composed of ex military, most with dishonorable discharges, bikers and other lowlife are a much larger force and better equipped with military type equipment. Losses in Wes's group including his grandfather are mounting. They are managing to repel the mismatched group of traitors. Another excellent read in this series!! Enjoyed immensely!!
5 star review as very few authors can write a great story but also create good characters that allows the reader to become fond of. This story is a series and a great series! A lot of action and a great understanding of possibilities.
What I like; no vampires, werewolves, zombies or aliens!
There is a lot of action in this book and some decent character development. I do think they were all a little quick to let Linda off the hook. As always, the dogs are some of my favorite characters and I do like that their humans are not super hero types but make a lot of mistakes. This ends with a big cliffhanger.
Boyd Craven III is the King Of the Post Apoc hill!
3rd series and my favorite so far(at least until he HOPEFULLY adds to and FINISHES THE “geostorm” series and (I’m forgetting the name of the 2 book series I LOVED BUT IT MUST CARRY ON!)) Well developed characters and great storytelling that keep me up hrs after my bedtime! Keep it up Boyd!
I love the characters, They have a will of their own. I knew Grandpa was in pain. He didn't want his grandson to know. He was so busy trying to look out for everyone at the farm. He didn't want the women and children to get hurt. I love how he can be a male role for Mary and friend for Emily.
Non stop action, and the full gamut of emotions with this one!!!
OMG can't believe this series hasn't topped every best sellers list. I am so impressed by the quality of the story lines and character develpment! I want everyone I know to read these books. I'm definitely buying REAL books to put on my bookshelves to reread every few months!
A little darker and even more fast paced. A great third book with awesome characters, dialogue and action. I just reread books one and two before reading book 3. I can’t wait for book 4.
Once again Boyd has managed to put you right in the middle of this STORY! Wesley has managed to stay outside the group terrorizing his area, helped his neighbors to survive by providing what is needed. An excellent book!
This latest installment has your emotions going up, down, sideways; every which way. From the beginning you're on one emotional rollercoaster after another. This is the best one yet. I can't wait for the next book.
Boyd Craven has done it again! Questions are answered & new questions are brought forth. The characters are so well written that you are caught up in their struggles and their celebrations. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I thought Jessica was my favorite character in this series, along with Westley, but I LOVE EMILY! No one can write “dog” like Boyd Craven. And can you say cliffhanger? I am ready for the next book in the series.
After the last cliffhanger, I was keen to see what happened next. And the story only got more convoluted, and I can’t see where it’s going that’s awesome. I’m looking forward to e future books!
The first two books in this series grabbed good and took me for a check if a ride. The third installment was just as much of a roller coaster. Amazing storytelling skills. Impatiently awaiting Book Four now.
These books are my comfort books, when I pick one up I know I will like it, it will entertane me, it will make me want the next one even worse. I'm just crazy about them
This series just keeps getting better and better! The action alone will keep you on the edge. A lot of compassion, humor and just plain goodness abounds.
I don’t t know how he manages to make these books so interesting that I just want to keep reading one after the other and the scenes where they’re attacked is so descriptive it’s like I can see it in my mind eye
This is a fast moving series. I love the characters. They are so down to earth that you feel like you are right in there with them. Great Writer. The Best. .
Interesting story with a lot of action between the two main characters and the spurts of philosophy of a clueless young man trying to grow up.The interaction between the homestead group and the bad guys is not like I think it would be in reality.
Alright Boyd!!! That was one heck of a story there my friend!!! Started reading and couldn’t put it down till then end!!! Awesome story. Love all the characters.
