The modern educational system is in a state of crisis, plagued by a virus characterized by excessive standardized testing, antiquated approaches to education, and expectations that value compliance and accountability over innovation and student engagement. An engaging read for educators that have to teach online now.

Zombies as a metaphor for students who have lost interest in learning, a battlefield as a classroom, trenchers as teachers who survived.

Padlet, Popplet, Sutori, Emaze, Flipgrid, Powtoon, Classcarft, Homeroom, TED-Ed, Breakout Edu... are among innovative, inspirational tools that Amanda Fox and Mary Ellen Weeks offer in their Teachingland book to address a zombie apocalypse|a classroom apocalypse.

The book is full of ideas and inspiration, resources, strategies, and tools for teachers at every level of digital literacy (Low Tech Zombie Tips vs High Tech App-etizers and Bytes).

I especially enjoyed:

Teachingland Survival Rules
Brain Stretchers
Tales from for the Trenchers
R.E.M.E.D.Y (good pedagogy)
Bug-out Lesson Planning Guide

You can read a book in one sitting or read the chapters that address your current concerns. Should you choose the second way, I would highly recommend a brilliant chapter 6 (with a list and description of Reach Them Apps and Bytes offered by level of your EdTech ability) and chapter 7 (ideas of assessment)

Hope you can get WARM BODIES!
