The Up From the Depths series is his first venture into fictional writing.
8th book and I'm still reading. However, this series seems to be going way off into left field. Zombies leading zombies on a chain, advanced AI naval ships, psychic zombie whisperer, character watches whisperer talk to zombie and never even checks for zombies when he opens door to leave. I keep dreading what other weird stuff the author is going to throw into the book.
Sorry I haven't written earlier. I know these reviews mean a lot to independent authors. I've been reading your Up from the Depths series for several years and I'm continually impressed by the complexity of your writing. And this while keeping me in constant suspense. I actually tried to slow down my reading to make book 8 last longer. While the time between books 7 and 8 was unfortunate (I'm sure the loss of your dad was devastating) , there are many readers out there like me who are willing to wait patiently for each installment. While I'm here can you ask Tony Monchinski and Stephen Knight to get their s**t in gear and write another zombie epic? All kidding aside they are two awesome writers and maybe you could talk them into a few more books in the zombie apocalypse genre. This would be a great favor since holding my breath didn't seem to work. Thanx again - Mike M
A detailed realistic book about the apocalypse, maybe too detailed not enough action.
I enjoyed this book, and I enjoyed the series very much because I’m detailed oriented. I like to know what’s going on with military ordinance and the way they execute their plans. But most people do not like that. There was not enough action in this book, for example we wanted to see how the town was invaded by the infected not from a post perspective you. I.e. not from a Birdseye view but from those in the town who kicked the military out. What they saw how they felt when The infected got into the town. We need more situations like this as well as resolutions with people in the storyline. I personally want to see John meet up with Cassie and continue the relationship. Hopefully things will happen further in the next book.
Chokepoint is the eighth fast-paced post apocalyptic survival book in the Up From the Depths series written by author J. R. Jackson. Looking forward to reading book nine.
I have enjoyed this saga. This the first that failed to earn 5 stars. We have been shown how it started as a radical attempt to rapidly de-populate the planet. This book destroyed that and blamed Democrats. It has greatly tainted the series.
J.R. Jackson is a truly talented writer. His personal knowledge from his own service is quite evident. The way in which he has all these little components all over the map (like, literally all over the United States) who are working unilaterally toward the same overall goal is really interesting. The teasers about empty prepared sites are hopefully going to come into the good of things.
