Entertaining read

This is a fun book to read. The action is fast and the plot is original. It is nice to take a break every once in a while and just read for enjoyment. This series is just the ticket.

Reserving judgment

This writer uses fictitious places in the Florida Keys. Difficult for me to make a connection to the story. Other authors that I have enjoyed use actual places and I find that I create a real connection to the characters. With made up places it just gives me a sense of fakeness. I have lived in Florida all my life and like looking up the places on the map, photos of boats in the book. It just makes the story more interesting and "real" . I'll see how Book 2 goes.

While I am not into sci-fi books 📖, I am into mystery books, especially the Key West writings.

I found Wild Oceans, A Caribbean...., very well done. A very good base-line adventure carried out by a half dozen believable characters. Maybe it’s the dreams of being a real well trained CIA guy like Tyson but probably end up a softer image as JD, regardless I enjoyed this book.

Fun quick read.

After reading 4 of these books, I have found that the stories move along with action mixed with dialog and leave out pages and pages of boring introspection, and descriptive historical or philosophical mumbo jumbo. However, the stories are not overly imaginative and have predictable plots that don’t have a lot of twists and turns. I guess that’s what makes them quick, easy reads - which I like as a change from time to time after reading a bunch of more intricate imaginative tomes.

Having the guys become volunteer deputy sheriff’s with badges in book 2 is a bit unrealistic - don’t know of any law enforcement organization that doesn’t require some kind of training prerequisites, swearing in, tons of HR paperwork, and probationary breaking in period - but this is fiction after all so we must overlook that point and move on. At least Tyson sounds like he knows some correct law enforcement procedures and ways to handle searches, crime scenes, and interview discussions. While JD, on the other hand, sounds like a DA’s nightmare for making any case stick.

Kudos to the author for keeping the swearing to a minimum and only sprinkling it in here and there as the level of intensity of the action calls for it. Thank you for that.

Stories that build up a good sexual tension between characters are always enjoyable especially when they end with a climactic release at some point after the story and characters have had some time to develop. Unfortunately, these stories are not written that way. Instead the characters are all just looking for a quick lay with the next willing receptacle. Understandable for the male characters but surprisingly the females characters are written that way also. I’m not a prude but not really a fan of how the sexcapades are inserted so frequently throughout each story. Nor a fan of how Tyson and especially JD’s thoughts about women as boobs and lays is just way over done … unless of course your target audience are teenage boys with raging hormones, then writing this way makes more sense. For me it just detracts from the story, lowers my opinion of the author, and reduces the number of stars I’m willing to give.

I’ve read the first 4 books of the 48 book series. Will I continue to read more in the series or other books by this author? Since they are available through Kindle Unlimited - probably if I need a quick easy read. However, my expectations will be low and predict the plots and characters will all be very similar.

This is the third series of books that I have read (just starting this one) about a resident of the Florida Everglades. This one is very similar to the others, man returns to the place where he was raised, tries to settle down, and enjoy what he perceives as paradise. BUT, there are just too many things going on in paradise, for a man of their skills, to sit back and enjoy life -- trouble just finds them, or there is someone they know that brings trouble to them, or a past life keeps finding them. I don't suppose that is really good advertising for the tourist business in the Everglades. So far, I don't think this will be my favorite of the three, but it may be second (we will have to wait and see). If you just want to let your brain relax, pass some time, and enjoy a book just for the joy of reading -- I believe that I would recommend this series to you. Have fun!

Wild Ocean by Tripp Ellis

I really enjoyed this quick mystery book it is about Tyson Wild who works for a special operations team that does dangerous jobs which puts him in harms way. In this one the action is packed and so much going on Tyson is injured severely at the start of the book.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the story it was at some points over the top with how much Tyson can do and how easy he survives when put in dangerous situations he is almost like a cat with nine lives.

I did also like the character JD who is an old military buddy of Tyson. Tyson did get a love interest in the first installment of this series her name was Aria.

I recommend this book and I will continue reading this series.

Fast read with action!

I liked the short chapters and the characters were engaging. The unfolding action was smooth. Maybe a little too smooth in the sense that things could have been a little harder on the MC, but it kept me reading all the way through to the end. I did think that the way the story started, it would carry that plot line throughout trying to getaway from the cartel, but the cartel ended up being secondary as Tyson investigated a murder in the keys. Overall, I liked the story and probably will read the next one.

Recommended by an acquaintance during a discussion about novels set in Florida. While a fast read, it is pretty formulaic and forgettable in terms of plot and skimpily written characters. The opening chapter though is a real departure in that the protagonist undergoes momentary death in a hospital and is convinced he was in hell for his sins committed as an operative for the government and then a private contractor. After this experience of intense agony he is brought back from the near death experience and vows to quit the organization.

Fun Book

What else would you expect in the Caribbean? Lots of action. Kind of a superhero status. Could do without the soft sex. But loved the loyalty to family and friends. No fowl language which is very nice. I am going to read another of Tyson's adventures, just think I might be the wrong sex and age for this series. Otherwise great job. Can t wait to find out what Isabelle wants him to do for the "I owe you one." Thank you.

"The Hunter Is Being Hunted"

This is an exciting murder mystery which takes place in the Florida Keys. A murderer, a secret, and the dark side of paradise. Former spy Tyson Wild lives on friend's boat. He wants to bury his history, but trouble and danger always finds him. A remarkable, captivating story I truly enjoyed! Great story line and very well written.

A Fun and Enjoyable Read

I enjoyed the book with its fun and interesting characters, set in beautiful, exotic location. Tyson’s background and his desire for a more peaceful future is an overused storyline, but the author’s development and diversity of characters made it well worth the read.

Good read

Enjoyed the adventure of Tyson Wild. Interestingly enough how one can move around without repercussions. Liked the story line as well as the sisters indirectly involved. Liked the actions and his ship board life. I decided to an end of book review since there are 21 books in the series.

Juvenile.

This is the first book from Tripp Ellis I’ve read. I doubt I will spend time reading any more. I found it to be a poor plot, poor character development, and banal. Gorgeous girls, manly men, brilliant and super skilled heroes, etc. You can guess the rest. Silly may be the best descriptive.

Action that drags you into the story

Great beginning hook into a story that will keep you reading until the end. The main character is a guy that has imperfections but trying to get his life on track. Great story that will keep you reading.

I'm on to the next one in the series. You will be right behind me after you finish the first book in the series.

very good

Good read. Sort of confusing first couple of pages but picked up very nicely after that. Could have used a little humor but that is not a show stopper. Why 4 and not 5 stars? Simple no one is perfect so this gives an incentive to make each story better than the last. I will be reading the next one.

very good and surprisingly complex

This is book #1 in a series. I’m glad that I read it because I originally started mid series and quit when JD became intolerably over the top. At that point the characters and the genre became like a TV repeat from the 70’s. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. I wish the author well and much success.

A nice quick and easy read. Nothing deep, just action, fun and sun. I liked it, but realize it's not complex, just an escape read taking place with beautiful women in a tropical location. Would have given it 4 stars, but that would be a disservice to much better books that I've given that many stars.

Really good, well written and intense

Tyson Wild is a believable character who is flawed but human in his reactions. No distracting typos, well thought out plot that carries well into the next book.

A fun read. I would grab a mojito, or some rum punch and sit back and enjoy. Lot’s of action and thrills with a like able cast of characters. Hold off on your Pulitzer expectations, this is not that kind of book. I read the entire series as they were fun and entertaining.

Fun adventure

Character development is a little sketchy so far, but the story, action and overall concepts are good. Will try the next in the series to see if the strengths continue to improve.

Fun read.

This was a fun, fast read. Read it in one afternoon and evening. Triggered all my adolescent fantasies and reminded me I "was growing older but not up" to quote a musical philosopher.

Not my usual choice

I am not usually a fan of first person books and my normal reaction would be to stop reading after the first page. However, not only did I finish this book in an afternoon, I really enjoyed it and I'm looking at getting the next book in the series.

For a first adventure read, thats setting the background, for getting to know the personality of the characters , this book will make you read the next just to see if Tyson survives the beatings in it.
