I honest to god don't know what it is about this series and why it's getting worse with every new graphic novel that's getting published. I think everybody knows that the mean reason why I'm reading this series is Pricefield, and I'm being rewarded with none of that which is fucking disappointing.
Don't get me wrong I love Amberprice equally as much, but this story started as that of Max and Chloe so that's what I'm here for. It stings that in this alternate reality Max is nothing more than a thirdwheel and even fucking lives with Amber and Chloe in Los Angeles who are dating each other. How fucking stupid does that sound?
Clearly Max hates herself enough because she actually continues to live with them so that she can keep an eye on Chloe, who is not interested in her romantically. It's just ridiculous and it angers me because Max doesn't deserve to get hurt like that every single day.
And all of these new characters that are being introduced are just flat and boring. I couldn't give two shits about their backgrounds, and yet we receive all of that. It's just plain wrong.
Still I clearly hate myself enough as well to torment myself by continuing to read this series, only because I hope for improvement. But I've lost my faith somewhere along the road.
Tristan intrigues me. I personally think it's fascinating to have another character added to the universe with some kind of weird power/gift thing that they don't understand. It seems more probable than just Max being some sort of Chosen One or something. I'm curious to see where this storyline goes!
Waves #3 I write these reviews for my own memory so go ahead and skip on. I'm being nice giving this 2 stars. I'm over this. (Haha OK I was crazy impatient and frustrated here. I've finished it now and it is amazing!)
I'm really enjoying the suspense and intrigue in these comics, I love this issue a lot! They draw me in so well and leave me wanting to read more, this whole collection so far is great and I'm sure it'll just keep on getting better! The art in these comics are beautiful!
Really enjoyed it, even though this issue seemed strangely short. Still good, though! I love the character dynamics. They are spot-on with what I'd expect.
Tristan's backstory is revealed in this issue. Like Max, he spontaneously came into his powers after suffering an intense, traumatic moment in time. I'm on the fence about how that makes me feel. It was one thing to give Max time-traveling powers; it was all about her, it was her story. Now that other people gain powers spontaneously, which manifest in other ways, it's starting to feel more like The X-men and less like Life is Strange.
What I found most interesting in this issue was that the trio of girls goes to a fancy party with the rich kids in L.A. They get new outfits and Rachel Amber looks killer. I loved it!
