Nothing more adorable than these white fluffy babies with heart-shaped faces. A lifelong animal lover, Keta devotes her time and support to the local animal shelter. Emma LaPounce, a rescued feline, has been her furry companion for the last ten years.
Keta is an award-winning and best-selling author who writes in several genres: Western Romance, Historical Romance, Paranormal Romance and Contemporary Romance. In a past life, she wrote Gay Romance. Her books have received numerous accolades, including RWA contest finalist, Authors After Dark finalist, Top Pick of the Month and Recommended Review from top review sites, and Best Romance Finalist from The Independent Author Network.
Ps: For some strange reason, ghosts often show up in her stories, no matter the genre.
A Darker Shade of Evil is an anthology of fabulous authors and because the book is 15,061 pages on my Kindle and I am only at 6,205, I will be sharing four soul sucking novels and highly recommend these steamy reads for adult only.
Alone in the Dark by Khardine Gray – USA Today Bestselling Author
Forbidden love. I’m hooked. It seems to go hand in hand with the supernatural world that I love to get lost in. Some very hot, steamy sex, but the story takes priority. I quickly fell in loe with the characters and the supernatural world they live in. Witches, lycans, werewoves, fae, good and evil, battle as a war brews and the threat of Razal rising looms on the horizon. What more could I possibly ask for? Well, I was sad to see it end and that’s what I am asking for…MORE, because it ended all too soon. 4 Stars
The Devil Upstairs by Dariel Raye – USA Today Bestselling Author
He rose from his grave, after a very long time, and he knew that mean war was on the horizon. He was the last of his kind and that made me very curious about him. It’s Christmas and with it come memories of how he came to be. His mission has a name: revenge. Kat is unemployed, with no one to care but her best friend, Shell. What is she doing going out partying and rent is overdue? She felt pulled…and watched. I can relate to her inability to keep her mouth shut when angered Words came out without censor. She is naive and innocent, and she has no idea of what is coming. Forbidden love. Wow. Intense, hot sex and a love to last a lifetime….however long that may be. 4 Stars
Soul Bonded by Lori Titus – USA Today Bestselling Author
Natasha had been brought up to not be chasing demons. Well, obvious to me that’s gonna change. Christopher had become a drunk since leaving Special Ops. How will they come together? Enter: Victor Ramshead. Natasha cared for her mom, who has dementia, but couldn’t keep a caregiver because she would blurt out their psychic visions and scare them away. Her parents trained her about the supernatural world, but she is gonna need to bone up on it to face what is to come. When the demon wants you and makes an offer you can’t refuse, well…What price will be paid? It felt like a prequel and gave me just enough to want more of the good and evil characters and the fight to come. 3 Stars
Succubus Unleashed by Muffy Wilson – USA Today Bestselling Author
I knew the girl that would steal my heart would be different, but not this different.
Sapphira must find a mortal man to stand at her side and rule the clan as Queen Mother, all while perpetuating their species by producing children, being new blood into the fold. She marveled in her new body as I tried to figure out exactly what she is and when I did, I loved it! She is a water creature, and I am hooked right there. She has scales and wings, and now, two legs. The feelings Brock invoked in her were new to her. Is he the one? They would have to fight to together, and she was ready when he called. I was quickly caught up in her sweet innocence and couldn’t help but love her. I fell right into their insta love. It was magical and easy. Wow, just wow. Intense romance and hot sex, along with the lovin’. 4 Stars
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of A Darker Shade of Evil Anthology.
I find it very difficult to review a anthology, but I am going to try to put my feelings to words.
My journey into 1000+ pages
I started reading this book with the story whose teaser I had read way back in June. I truly wanted to know how it ended.
I Spy A Demon by Keta Diablo
The story started with twins Cecily and Calder staying with the Frost family after the death of their parents. She was best friends with the Frost's sons Marcel and Elliott, especially Marcel. She had to leave him when her brother begged her to. And years later Calder died, and Cecily returned to uncover the truth of her twin's death.
My first book by this author where the writing was smooth. I liked Cecily, her determination made me admire her. Marcel was the typical alpha male who wanted to protect her and yet couldn't stay away from her. I loved the chemistry between them. The story was fast paced, and Cecily took active steps to avenge her brother's death, some were slightly foolhardy. But I understood her passion. The ending was a shocker, and the story ended in a HEA.
Hex by Gracen Miller
This book was everything I loved in an Urban Fantasy. The hero was Hex, the prince of hell, and the heroine was Nina, a kick-ass warrior who could fight the paranormal creatures.
The plot was intriguing. Nina had to kill every paranormal creature including Hex if she wanted to win the tournament of Oculus Tears to save her sister's life. I loved everything about this story, I savored every line. Each word produced a delicious bubble of excitement in me.
Nina was simply poetry in motion. She reminded me of me, not the real me but the me in my fantasy. Hex was arrogant, but something about him spoke to my feminity. Oh yeah, it was that kinda book.
And the passion, oh my, I needed a hand fan to cool me down. It sizzled and burned like a lava, rushing into my blood like a fire and causing my toes to curl. Something about the dialogues between them caught my fancy, and I imagined myself to be Nina... Ah well, I couldn't help the fan-girling. This story was downright my favorite!! Sigh...
The Demon’s Prisoner by Michelle Scott
This was a cute story between Harper, a veterinarian, and Bishop, a man who had escaped 10 years of Hell. I loved their first meeting occured between dog biscuits and the story moved on to the fight with the Lord of Hell.
The plot was straightforward, but this had magic in holy relics which was exciting. Harper was proactive, I loved how she thought up ideas to get out of Hell. I liked her swift intelligence and ability to think on her feet. It was sweet to see how Bishop trusted her with his life. There was passion and love and HEA.
The Devil Upstairs by Dariel Raye
An ancient being, Gateway, and a woman with anger issues, Kat who needed his protection. The two had to meet as the fates had ordained. And passion was bound to happen along with ancient rites. The plot was convoluted, could have been better defined. I would have love more action, but it was a different story filled with passion and fun.
Succubus Unleashed by Muffy Wilson
Sapphira and Brock's love story was fun. Sapphira was a shape-shifter and it was quite exciting to see her shifting into... No... you have to read it to know what she shifts into. Love and passion was quite instant. But she was a succubus, she knew who was her mate. But their love was forbidden, she was too different. Yet she had to answer his call for her. I loved her protectiveness for her love. The story was quite different and passion was hot and together with the action scenes, it was a fun read.
I did glance through the other stories, they seemed to be sweet and were quite different with siren mermaids and vampires and working for the demon.
I could honestly say, all the stories, though short had enough spiciness to take a bite into. The authors were a talented lot who came together to give a book which had something for everyone. I liked that I could pick and choose any according to my mood, and they were an hour's read approximately. The heat in them flared, each one was scorching. A completely enjoyable read.
A great little anthology full of twisted dark and delightful stories.
Alone in the Dark
A thrilling PNR about witches, werewolves, demons and second chances. I enjoyed the story but wanted to know more especially about the side characters.
The Devil Upstairs
Not sure what to think of this one. It wasn’t bad. The concept was interesting but wanted to see more depth to the characters.
Soul Bounded
I was a bit disappointed this one just ending without a real ending. It caught my interest in the beginning and I would like to know where it goes with the two characters and what the demon is really up to.
Succubus Unleashed
A fast paced instant love story between a human and an interesting succubus. I enjoyed the twists in the story.
I Spy a Demon
A fantastic story full of mystery, suspense and feisty romance. I really loved the concept. The story held my attention the whole way through.
Hex
Sassy and sexy! I really enjoyed how kickbutt it was. Action packed and fast paced. It was hard to put this one down.
The Demon’s Prisoner
A fun story full of intrigue. I liked the concept.
Alone in the Dark Khardine Gray has allot going on. There is two people seperated because of betrayal and lost love a betral by family and a Demon that wants to rise and a group intent on completing this task Pru and Lucien will have to battle his past and other people bent on taking control.
The Devil Upstairs by Dariel Raye. You get Demons Demigods ancient Egypt, Vampire's and a soul that needs saving. Gateway has many names but he is here for Kat he has been awoken to protect her he will battle evil, his own past and her fear with a ritual binding. Some answers will be given others left open I'm sure there are other books in this series that continue the story. But i found it interesting to read.
Soul Bonded by Lori Titus is interesting with its twists and turns leaving you wondering what going on why the main two characters Natasha and Chris they both made a deal he needed to let go of his personal trauma and she wanted to help someone but in the end the reasons may not matter what dose matter is they need each other. Because these demons may be playing for keeps. One other thing it ends in a bit of a cliffhanger so I would try and find other stories from this author.
Succubus Unleashed by Muffy Wilson. And ancient race could dye out is Sapphira cant find her destined mate a man of royal birth and human. Brock son of a king and protector. He is beguiled by a mysterious girl who is different from everything he knows he must protect his father and brother there is treachery in his kingdom and danger coming Sapphira will have to trust Brock with her secrets.
I Spy A Demon by Keta Diablo. There is the loss of people that both Marcel and Cecily love and Demon hunters in this short story. Marcel and Cecily have history both her and her twin brother are raised by The Frost after her parent's death. Marcel and Cecily grew up together and later grew to love each other. But things kept them apart when a tragedy brings Cecily home she will find out truthes about her brother, her family and the Frost's she will either stay or leave when its all over.
Hex by Gracen Miller. This one was my favorite out of all the stories in this collection you have a women who doesn't take crap of anyone Nina she will even go toe to toe with a super hot Demon and not and ordinary one Hex. There battle of wills and the fact that they can't keep there hands off each other keeps you reading to the very end and hating that there is no epilogue please make this a series of books these two deserve and encore. Back to the story Nina needs to help her sister she betrays some people and kills a whole lotta bad paranormal's. Hex knows her secret but he has his own and is willing to negotiate to keep Nina if he can.
The Demons Prisoner by Mitchelle Scott. Bishop is trying to get out of well the place were Demons live and Harper is trying to get away from her crazy ex and there is a conniving Demon trying to have his cake and eat it too. This book has some action and romance but it wasn't my favorite its still and okay read it felt to rushed.
Siren Descending by Katherine Smits. A demon who wants a siren and will even kidnap the mage she loves to get her and her power. Athenia will gobto the underworld to free Thorn he means everything to her and is all she has left she will meet and make many deals just to find him but it may not mean anything if the Devil has his way.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have only had a chance to read I Spy a Demon by Keta Diablo but if this story is indicative of the content held within this anthology, I will be moving A Darker Shade of Evil to the top of my reading list. Cecily’s story was one of sadness and deceit. She and her twin brother, Calder, lost their parents when they were young and moved in with the Frost family. A bit unconventional, but it works for the story. Growing up in the Frost household involved many hushed phone calls, secret meetings, and locked doors that the twins were not allowed to be involved. Cecily and one of the Frost sons, Marcel, become involved only to have Cecily’s brother Calder tell her to get as far away from the Frost’s as possible. One fateful day, Cecily receives a phone call that Calder was killed in an automobile accident and she’s suddenly trust back into the world Calder told her to escape. Only now, Cecily is older and refuses to be placated. She knows something is wrong with the stories surrounding Calder’s death and she will stay, and she will figure out what really happened.
The writing of this novel is smooth, conversational, and I found myself being easily immersed in the story. The chemistry between Cecily and Marcel is powerful and undeniable and loved how there was a magnetic pull that couldn’t keep them apart. The discovery of the truth behind Calder’s death was emotional, unbelievable, and shock-inducing to Cecily and the author captured her very well. There is a twist near the end that I did not really see coming and it made the journey to the end of the book very satisfying. I enjoyed I Spy a Demon and look forward to reading more stories from the anthology and from Keta Diablo.
I was provided a copy of the anthology to read and review.
Well written stories full of action, sass and steam
This was such a fun set of reads and they really gave a different spin on demons. Feel the sizzle of these characters! I think my fav story was Hex, by Gracen Miller. Action, twists and danger lead the way to a steamy story. Both characters were seriously kicka$$. Good fun! I definitely recommend this anthology for some unique fast paced stories.
I Spy A Demon - by Keta Diablo I started out reading this anthology with I Spy A Demon and it was such a great read. A story that is full of secrets and mistrust in the family that Cecily grew up in. She is determined to find out the truth amongst all the lies and deception. Cecily is a strong and independent character, a bit impulsive when she gets angry, and you can practically feel the anger radiating from her in the book. Even though this story is not considered a full length novel, it was long enough to get a good detailed read that grabbed me from the beginning and kept me fully engaged to the end. Great characters and plot with a smooth flow to the writing. It concluded with a HEA, no cliffhangers. I am looking forward to the rest of these stories. I just love the cover too, so dark, ominous and sexy.
I never thought I would find demons sexy until I read Hex.. I have a whole new outlook on demons now. Hex and Nina's story is exciting, intense and the interaction between them is very passionate..
This collection of stories were diabolically amazing I loved every story. I was introduced to authors I had never heard of before and I was glad that I have new authors to read now. I cannot wait to read more from the new authors that I discovered.
What a read! Absolutely loved getting everyone's perspective on the demons and devils. I really enjoyed Keta Diablo's take of demons - not only demons on the loose but also the internal demons we all must bear.
I think that the steam that came off Cecily’s and Marcel could burn you to your soul. She knows (with the deep-down bond that twins have) that something was off about how her brother Calder died, but no one would give her any information. It was up to her and she took the initiative to figure it out. She definitely wasn't expecting the answers that she got. I love how this story gripped me from the first page and kept me paging through to the end.
Thanks for a great read, not only from Keta but from all the authors, good job.
Hex - Gracen Miller: Oh Holy HELL! Well we are talking about demons after all. This story was AWESOME! I read Code Name Nina and the ending left me wanting... THIS is the more to Nina's story. Nina wants to save her sister, but in order to do that she needs to embark on what is basically a suicide mission. Compete and win the Oculus Tears Tournament, the paranormal death games. She is an assassin and can hold her on. Right? Hex is the reigning champion and there is no way Nina can beat him. There is more than meets the eyes on both sides of this little dance. It is heated and a little bloody. You may need a fan before the end of this story.
What an oh so hot and amazing book set by so many wonderful authors. i just love this set but here about one that was just an awesome getaway.
The Devil Upstairs by USA Today Bestselling Author Dariel Raye
In this story there is the oh so hot Getaway he has been a sleep for many years but now its time for him to help the chosen for the demons. Then there is Kat who life just sucks but she holds her head high and keeps going.
To know more about this story and the other in this set grab your copy today a so so so must read!!!!!
I read The Devil Upstairs by Dariel Raye so far what a unique story I really loved Kat and Gateway, Kat is a take no crap woman who I loved, it was nice to read how she learned to give up some of her control with Gateway but stay true to herself. I really hope there is more to their story in the future.
I read 4 of the 8 books and was charmed by the stories. So many mystical twists, magic and space for your own imagination. The first story I mainly remembered about Khardine Gray, perhaps also because I always appreciate witches and werewolf stories. In all the books I read, the women are powerful and stand their ground, I love that. The story "Alone in the Dark" tells you the story of betrayal, damnation and the power of unity. Around it the romance between Prudence and Lucian. As long as Pru can remember, she loves Lucian. He is a 750-year-old werewolf who does not want to and can admit to his feelings for Pru. He was once married and because of his actions his wife opted for suicide. That means that he does not dare to give in to his love for Pru, afraid that he will also lose her. But no matter how hard he tries, he cannot stay away. In their world full of disorder, they find each other and the sex scenes are steaming. The end is very open and that gives the reader room for a personal turn to a happy ending

Each book in this set is very unique from the others. The one thing in common is a darkness. Sometimes it comes in the form of a demon, a mysterious object or even within ourselves. Each story has a romance with different heat levels. You will find plenty of magic in some of them and a mystery in others. If you like some darkness in your romance then you will definitely find some new authors to love.
Oh heck yeah One stop shopping for all of your demon needs and desires. And look it is all wrapped up in this fantastic cover. I enjoyed all of the books in this anthology. Each of the short stories were unique in their own way, but the authors manages to maintain the demon theme while bringing us action, adventure and HEAs. I will be on the look out for more books from all of these authors.
I read Gracen Miller's installment Hex. It was a well crafted world of demons and humans woven together. The idea of a no holds barred tournament between the human heroin and demons is incredibly imaginative and well-written. This author has a fantastic grip on storytelling.

This was a great story with a Bad A$$ female main character and a Sexy Alpha Male! There is definitely a Love/Hate relationship between Nina & Hex ... Nina LOVED to Hate Hex and Hex just WANTED Nina!
