A romantic comedy about friendships, flirtations, and the elusive "Fantasm!"

Hi! I'm Miranda Blake and this is my story. Well, sort of. It's more like a twisted fairytale, if you believe in them. Except there's no beautiful, young princess with perky breasts, perfectly coiffed hair and a sassy attitude. I'm closing in on fifty, thirty pounds overweight according to Weight Watchers, and, after nursing two kids and that bitch, gravity, doing her job, I'm lucky the ladies don't hit my knees. The gorgeous brown mane of hair is slightly frizzy from my ridiculous attempts to recapture my youth by dyeing the hell out of it. As for sassy attitude, well, it wasn't so long ago that I was a doormat. And the charming prince who sweeps me off my feet into the life of my dreams? I have a dog called Prince, German Shepherd, who knocks me on my ass if I'm in the way when the doorbell rings. Does that count?

Minx by Maggie Adams was so stinking fun to read! I have never had the pleasure of reading anything by Maggie Adams prior to this but now I must say I am dying to get my hands on some more of her work and anything else she may create for readers in the future. Minx is a fast read, one that you could devour on a dreary rainy day to brighten things up, or even perfect for a poolside read. As soon as I started reading about Miranda Blake I was hooked and found myself finished in one sitting. I would love to see more Miranda in the future because I feel like there is still so much story potential left in her character. *wink wink*

Miranda Blake is the exact type of person that I am so it was super easy for me to relate to her on multiple levels. She is such a good-doer for anyone and everyone that she often gets left in the dust with little to nothing left for herself. Now that is all about to change as she grabs life by the horns and starts to find her voice. I loved watching her grow to find that inner sassy voice that she always had but wasn’t sure how to use. Definitely a five star read that I will be finding time to re-read once again soon.

I downloaded this book from a public domain...can't recall which one. Unsure why it was listed on public platform as it isn't that old. Fun little romp with Miranada and her BFFS — highly reminiscent of Sex in the City. An unexpected divorce, a couple of makeovers, lots of wine (and whine!), six inch designer stilettos, and, of course, sex. Although I enjoyed SITC the first go-round, I rather think that theme should be retired to TV land Valhalla. IMO, it past the expiration date along time ago. Let's be honest, without Kim Cattrall, its just In the City.

Like SITC, Minx has its own Miranada. Unlike SITC, the latter's Miranada is a doormat... and an absolute klutz. In fact, Minx's Miranada is such a klutz that her boss gives her a pair of expensive sneakers to keep her grounded. ((rolls🙄eyes)) That gift could be misinterpreted by an insecure woman ... and this Miranada certainly is. There's a bonus gift to accompany the sneakers. Lemme just say...it's the BIGGEST no-no ever!!! Now, lets get to steppin.

Going through a divorce after twenty-five years of marriage, to a man that is worse than a bowl of melted vanilla ice cream between the sheets, Miranada (or the 2.0 Miranada now calling herself 'Randi') is supported by an eclectic group of women that seem to be lacking any goal in life other than catering and pandering to Miranada. In a nut shell, the BFFS tell Miranda/Randi that her look is dated and lacks sex appeal. As a supportive BFF often does, they tell Miranda, the doormat, that her hair needs proper styling.
Yeah, girl! We're here to support you! For starters, this whole Miranada package you're currently advertising is all wrong. Basically, what we're saying is (and you'll appreciate our frankness): We're big fat fakes! When you're not in the mix, we sit around picking you apart. Yes! We agree with you 100%. Your hips and ass are bigger than average. Lucky for you THAT look is all the rage! Men love holding onto a curvaceous woman, and by that, if one doesn't mind the subtlety, we suggest a healthy diet; not much weight. Would you mind dropping twenty pounds?

*Alright. That's my version of things...not an actual quote. Randi/Miranada, donning fresh colored tresses, is all dolled-up and ready to prowl. Unfortunately, Randi as Miranada is not cut out for life as a seductress. It was a kinda fun read. And...that's enough of that.

I LOVED Minx by Maggie Adams!
It was a Featured Book in the Sizzling HOT Romance Book Club on Facebook, and it was everything a romantic comedy should be. Miranda Blake is not the typical romance leading lady--she's middle-aged, she has 'wobbly bits', and she's just a touch clumsy. But she soars to new heights with the help of her merry band of home-girls, in spite of being dumped by her douchebag husband of many years. Don't even get me started on him.
Minx is the perfect blend of laughter and tears, and it is ultimately a story of hope and second chances.
5 enthusiastic stars!!

A hilarious ride, with a woman that has life experiences and had the years to prove it! I loved that this was about a woman that is the same age as I am, in my fifties and that is ready ditch the c**p that life has thrown at her and find herself again, or at least find the woman that life has tried to bury under the normalcy of marriage up until now. Miranda was a funny woman, I got that she dwelt a little more than I would have liked on the past but I also liked that when she made her mind up to make the changes she was quite simply brilliant after all she had 20 or more years to make up for!
Now one thing I have to say is that I think she had a tad more to say that we got to hear and that the author could have expanded her story for a little longer, it was just a smidge rushed.
But what I can say is that what I got was a story that was easily paced and that didn’t feel stilled or hemmed in.
I loved her friends, they were totally epic, just the kind of women that Miranda needed to have by her side, and I would love to read a little more about each of them, they totally won me over.
Laugh out loud at times, a delightful read that totally held my attention and was a solid 4 stars

5 out of 5 stars

The story Minx by Maggie Adams is a book that I loved reading. It is one of those stories that had me smiling as well as laughing so much at times that I had to keep from falling out of my chair. I loved reading about the character of Miranda Blake. Miranda is a woman that I found funny, compassionate, and just plain fun to read about. While she says that she considered herself a doormat, I found her to be witty, at times sarcastic, kind, and loyal. I found myself caring about her with each chapter that I read and wanted her to be happy. The story at times includes strong emotions. This is a tale that grabbed my attention from the first chapter and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. There are additional characters that are introduced and I enjoyed reading about their part in the story as well as their interactions with Miranda. I found that the events that occur in Miranda’s life made it interesting and certainly not dull. This is a wonderful story to read and one I would recommend to be at the top of your to-be-read list.

This book made me late to work. LOL. I couldn't stop reading this book and I loved every word. I love that Miranda is just a normal housewife when her husband turns her world upside down and she has to reinvent herself and find who she is. She isn't some skinny stepford wife, she is so real and clumsy. She gets caught between two brothers but I loved this story. There was romance, humor, sizzle, danger and drama. Amazing book and I would read this author again just from this book alone. I highly recommend this book and author!!!!

This was my first book by this author and I truly enjoyed it. I found myself laughing out loud more than once and I enjoyed that Miranda wasn't the perfect in every way 20 some year old. She was written in a way that made her feel like a real person and I so appreciated that. I think one of my only negatives is that it wasn't long enough for me. I enjoyed everything about this book except I don't know that I ever completely connected to the story. It seemed to move a bit too fast and I would have loved more.

I will say that the very first line of the book was enough to grab me and I didnt put it down till I was finished, and my first introduction to Kimy had me rolling. I Loved Reed, once I figured out why he was the way he was with Miranda and although at one point I wanted to jump in my kindle and kick him in the shins he redeemed himself quickly in my eyes.

I really did love the whole of this book, and I love this authors writing and just simply wanted more of it. I definitely want to read more from this author.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

OMG this book was hilarious!!! I seriously LOVE the characters of the story. Miranda and her crew of best friends were so awesome to read. But the temptation tug of which brother, Reed or Ritter, was great too! Miranda’s friends are seriously the best people around. They lover her 110% and are going to do anything and everything to make sure she gets the HEA with a good guy this time around.

Miranda legit is told by her DB future ex its over. They are getting ready to leave for a cruise when he drops the bomb, she is being replaced by a younger woman and she is to get outta their family home ASAP. Miranda rallies her troops and they set to help her find herself and pick herself back up after 20 years of marriage.

What skills does an outta work housewife, stay at home mom have? Well she has enough to charm a playboy named Ritter into hooking her up with a job at his company. When she meets his very stuck up brother, Reed, she is confused as to how they can be so different.

As the story unfolds, we begin to see different sides to both men. Neither is who we thought they were. Is Ritter the good guy or a DB? Is Reed really an uptight jackass or just a guy protecting his heart????

I seriously snickered so many times reading this book and loved, loved, loved how it all played out.

Minx by Maggie Adams. I loved this book. Its a short, hilarious read. Its the story of Miranda Blake who is almost 50 and dealing with all the "hilarious" things our bodies do to us during this time and also dealing with work, being overweight and trying to figure out what the heck to do after a divorce. She has a great group of friends that are her rocks and they are always there for her. She is super surprised when Reed a handsome devil, sweeps her off her feet and things begin to look up. This book is all about a woman who was used and abused for years and gets dumped and finding her way back to the woman she once was, sassy and classy. I loved this book and I hope to read more from this author.

This is a very enjoyable short read.
On the eve of a cruise Miranda Blake's husband tells her he wants a divorce. The house. And basically, she has to move out with her personal belongings and start again.
Enter her wonderful friends.
And a job interview...2 brothers...
And it's all fun and games after that!
Lots of fun and laughter to be had in Minx, as well as moments of disaster that we'd all recognise, but wish we could forget...
Happy Reading!

This short rom-com was everything I wanted it to be. We have funny banter, a woman who wouldn't let life knock her down and a group of friends that stand by your side no matter what.

We have Miranda who is trying to find herself after her divorce. I was enjoying myself with her cluelessness as to what affect she had on men around her. And I liked Reed from the get go. You could see he cared even when his words said otherwise.

Simply put - I loved it. I'm hoping we get to see more of this group of friends because they were hilarious.

Minx by Maggie Adams drew me becuase it's about a 50's-ish woman who's husband left her pretty much high and dry. She's reentering the work force, the dating scene, and life for "her" after 20 plus years!
With a healthy dose of humor, falling, tripping, broken heels, and great writing Minx was a fun, entertaining read.
Reed and Ritter gave "Randi" a run for her money, and her happiness.
Along with the 'tee-hee's' and the 'ha-ha's' there were those 'awwww' and 'what an ass' moments. There's a little for every contemp romance reader!

Minx was a fantastic Romcom! It was a cute romantic comedy and a quick read. I laughed so hard a few times and those sex scenes were WOW! The words that Maggie put in it made it seem so real. From the older woman bodies and walking in heals. Which I would be just like Miranda. I absolutely loved Minx and cannot wait to read more of Maggie Adams work!

Miranda Blake is in her fifties and thought she had her life all sorted out, apart from being a bit klutzy, that is until her husband suddenly wants a divorce, her out of his life and their house within a couple of weeks while he is on a cruise they were meant to be going on together, talk about a bombshell! As he prepares to leave the house, she is equally panicked and angry, she hasn’t worked since she got married, she gave up things for him and he repays her by having an affair, but she does give him a piece of her mind, which he doesn’t expect, but the satisfaction for Miranda is just what she needed, until exhausted she collapses into the spare bed. The next morning, she wakes up feeling worse for wear, but better after a shower, until one of her best friends comes in, gun in hand and nearly shoots her when Miranda attacks her with a hairdryer, both are as surprised as the other but when Miranda explains the situation amid floods of tears and collapses into another exhausted sleep and wakes up with her other friends rallied around her and ready to help out any way that they can, including talking her through why they love her and giving her soon to be ex-husband the nickname of “Rat Bastard”.

As the deadline to leave her home advances, she gets some advice and more help from her friends as they talk about what needs to happen for the divorce to happen and then after packing up her belongings, they discover that they need to take her shopping as he owns everything, including the clothes on her back. As the impromptu shopping trip starts to slow down and the ladies hit Starbucks, they insist that she does a catwalk strut, but when she tries, her klutzy nature comes to the fore and her new heels get stuck in a hole in the sidewalk and she stumbles face first into the lap of an extremely handsome man, much to her embarrassment., but it proceeded to become a horror show when she used his sensitive parts as leverage when she tried to get up which led to her falling back on her rear end all over again. This incident doesn’t stop him from introducing himself, asking for her number and promptly asking her out to dinner the next day and yet again her friends rally round and help her to get ready for her first date in years. As the drink and conversation flow, they get on well and when she blurts out that she needs a job, he says he will see what he can do when he casually name drops that he has a brother who owns the company he also works for and when his brother goes past them and introduces himself, she is a little lost for words and at the end of the night, she doesn't know which of the two she would prefer.

As the ladies gossip and demand the details from the date as they work on her resume so it is ready when he calls her a few days later and says that a position has opened up as an executive secretary and has set up an interview for her as he thinks that she will be perfect for the position and she does get it, as the lady she is replacing is about to give birth. As she is settling in to her new role, she overhears some conversation she isn’t overly happy about, but she isn’t in any position to challenge, or change, however, when the boss steps in and helps her out with it, she realises that she is going to have to figure out what shape the future is going to take and is asked to move to be his assistant when the one she has stepped in for returns after her maternity leave, this leads to her helping to organise an important fundraiser and while she is at the mall looking at things in person, she has to pop to the bathroom to avoid being caught while overhearing another conversation, however, when she comes out and tries to ignore the sales assistant hailing her, she runs into the boss whom she was just listening to, but her inability not to embarrass herself comes crashing in when she realises that she has been mooning the entire mall and while trying to put her clothing back into place, another unfortunate incident involving her underwear happens. Will Miranda ever be able to get through a situation without embarrassing or injuring herself, or will this nature be her undoing? Will she be able to get through the divorce without anything else getting in the way, or will disaster strike again and her choices be taken out of her hands? This is a romance in an unusual generation which makes it even more humorous as it is romantic and will keep you entertained all the way through and wanting to know more about the adventures of this group of friends at the end.

The blurb of Minx intrigued me and I thought it was going to be a fun read with an older heroine finding love again. It certainly contained a lot of funny and entertaining parts, but it just didn’t work for me.

I find that the story and Miranda had no depth. She was extremely juvenile and did not act her age. Her clumsiness was too over the top and unbelievable. I don’t understand how she could be the capable and respectable woman/mother as her friends described. How could she lived to be fifty and be described as classy with the amount of body parts and underwear flashing that happened to her within the short period of time that was featured in the book? The romance between Miranda and Reed was questionable. There were hardly any interactions and absolutely no connections or sparks between them before they hook up. Reed was a charmer and I loved how attentive and perceptive he was.

The side characters provided lots of entertainment and amusement to the book. Her four best friends were hilarious and I loved Agnes. However, the relations between the characters were a bit confusing. Four best friends were a little too much and I had a difficult time remember who was who and what their personalities were like. I thought I had missed out on the girls relations and friendship because this book was part of series and they had been featured before. However, I checked and this book is a standalone. Another puzzling part was I thought the Michaels brothers were strangers to the girls when they were first introduced in the story. However, I was surprised that two of the girls were actually close friends with them and they never gave any insider tips or gossip about the brothers with Miranda.

It was a quick read and had some funny parts. I hate giving a low rating as I know authors worked really hard and put in a lot of work to publish a book. I really appreciate their courage and effort, unfortunately, this book just didn’t work for me.

I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

MINX by Maggie Adams was a delightfully funny romp that had me smiling and laughing out loud as I read along. This is also my first read by Ms. Adams, and what a great introduction it was! I will certainly be going on a search to hunt down more of her books to explore.
I loved meeting Miranda, and the rest of the cast of interesting and quirky characters. They were really well developed, realistic, and relatable- this story is definitely character driven, and really wouldn’t be the same without them. But there is more to this story than just the humour- there is also loss, shock, confusion, friendship, strength, finding yourself, some drama, witty dialogue, and a great ending!
After 20 years of marriage, Miranda’s husband decides to end their relationship- forcing her out of the family home and replacing her with a younger woman. She is a little lost- and with little skills except those of a stay at home mother and wife, she’s not sure what to do. But with the help of her friends, she sets out on her ‘adventure’ of building a life for herself after 20 years of basically being a doormat. And so, the hilarity ensues.
This was a very short, quick and easy read. It zipped along at a fast pace, which made it a little hectic at times, and also made it a little difficult to fully connect with the characters. I would love this book to have been a bit longer, so we had more time to invest in the characters and their story.
Having said that though, this was a really fun story and I did enjoy it.

Thank you, Ms. Adams!

I expected a lot of laughter from this book and I wasn’t disappointed. I had some great laughs while reading it and enjoyed myself. The plot was easy to follow and the writing style was easy to read.
The main character was funny, if a bit too focused on her flaws, but in the end she was THE BOMB. Her friends were hilarious and I wish all of them books to tell their stories. I will have to keep an eye open for them.
All in all of this are things that make me enjoy a book and I would normally give four to five stars. I do not for this one, because I felt all of it was rushed. Rushed through the beginning where Miranda got a really bad message and her life is in shambles at her feet. Rushed through her makeover when her friends build her up and she discovers herself. Rushed through a lot of scenes with potential and the promise for more only to get rushed in the end and leave me a bit unsatisfied. What I want to say is, this book deserves more words in my opinion. It deserves more funny scenes, more depth for Miranda, Reed, Ritter and the others and for the reader. Also, the dog did not get a lot of scenes. For him to be mentioned in the blurb I expected a lot more scenes with him and a lot of laughter resulted in him being there.
As I said, I enjoyed the book and like to read more of this crazy group of friends.

“Minx” is the first, fun, sweet, modern day, sexy, adult fairytale from the "Hell On Heels" series. Miranda is a middle-aged curvy housewife that’s blind-sided when her ‘rat-bast*rd’ husband leaves her for a younger woman... This heroine reminds me of 2 old sitcoms’ ladies like a sweet, bumbling, Lucille Ball from the “I Love Lucy” show, combined with a sultry, Delta Burke from “Designing Women” show :) ... Fortunately she has a group of wonderful, quirky, friends who are there to help her become a modern-day, mature Cinderella with an HEA. This unique storyline has relatable characters & witty dialogue that made me laugh out loud at times & makes it a real page-turner! Even tho I always volunteer to read this author’s books, these are my own feelings without any outside influences, so I can honestly recommend this to adult 18+ fans of fiction! I actually already bought, read & reviewed the 2nd fantastic must read, “Jinxed” first, so you could read these out of order IMO. Now I can’t wait for more, but I will!

Minx was a wonderful read by Maggie Adams and is also the first book that I have read by this author. The first thing that really made me want to read this book was the blurb, it was interesting enough to make me want to read about Miranda, the main characters but vague enough that I wasn’t quite sure what the story would be about so it was kind of like going in blind! I liked that I had no expectations about what was going to happen. I ended up loving Miranda! She was such a fantastic character to read about. She was so genuine and relatable – there were so many times when I just got what she was going through. I loved seeing her character evolve as the story progressed and I could definitely read more stories about her, I kind of felt there was so much more for her after the story finished.
I absolutely 100% recommend this story and I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Minx Hell on Heels #1 by Maggie Adams

This is the first book I've had the chance of reading by Adams. Minx is an amazing read and I can't wait for the next book.

Miranda is an older woman who has been married for twenty-five years. Now her ex husband wants a divorce. Her friends rally around her and help her figure out her new single life. The quote I chose for Miranda is: “You guys love me, you have to say that.”

Reed is the big boss of the family company. His younger brother Ritter is going around telling everyone that he and Miranda are in a relationship. The quote I chose for Reed is: “Why do you insist on wearing these stupid shoes? You are going to kill yourself! Do you realize you could have broken your neck? Falling over the edge of the railing? My God, isn't that how you met Ritter, tripping over in heels landing in his lap?”

Highly recommended for Romantic Comedy lovers.

MINX by Maggie Adams is a delightful quick and easy read that is a short story but there is nothing short about what is packed into this little tale. It is fun and the hilarity of it had me laughing out loud, hubby kept looking at me like I was a loon. The characters are quirky and delightful but I would have loved the story to be longer to get a better feel of them and their lives as a whole. Even though it is fun there is the serious side of the story where after your marriage breaks down you go through the stages of grief and you have to find yourself and who you are now and that is where the fun begins.
Miranda’s husband of 20 years decides their marriage is over and kicks her out whilst bringing in the younger woman. She goes through an awakening to find herself and love herself again.
If you love a story with a little quirk, then this one you don’t want to look past.

Minx

My first book by this author and it was truly an amazing and funny read. It was also sexy, full of humor, compassion, a real understanding of friendship among friends. The characters were awesome. The star of the book was so clumsy it was hysterical. Miranda made the choice of going it alone after her rat bastard husband wanted a divorce. Well she definitely made a better life for herself by doing so. He didn’t deserve her anyway. And her friends stood by her through it all. The way true friends are supposed to do. This is one book that was so good to read, and I was so glad I had the opportunity to read it. It will make you laugh and believe life can go on after a divorce, even when you reach an age you think it is impossible to do so. I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend it to the readers. You won’t be disappointed. 🥰🥰🥰

Minx was a fun read! Hilarious mixed with OMG I'd so do that if it happened to me. Newly separated/divorced Miranda-now Randi-oops, maybe not-is let loose on the world. Newly poked, prodded, redressed, and coiffed by her gaggle of girlfriends to face life and getting rid of the excess weight of the loser hubby, she still would like to curl up in bed and watch TV or read a book. Too bad her friends know better. Forced to find her way in the dating and working world after taking care of the loser and her children after twenty five years is a shock. Getting the job is easier than she hoped, but the men-not so much. Especially when it involves brothers!

Grab Minx, laugh and know there is hope for middle aged women! Especially if you too would be vertically challenged in high heels!

Off the bat this is a short story, and a hea. It’s about an older woman who already has grown kids and her marriage has fallen apart. She has a very odd set of friends. Honestly it reminded me about a group like sex in the city girls. So it went at a semi fast pace, at one moment she is asked about the divorce and the next it felt like she was already divorced and working. At first I thought the main guy was going to be Ritter, but then it became noticeable that it was going to be Reed. They start their affair and yes there is a hiccup and he basically dismisses her. This is where to me the drama happens and I liked it. The only thing that I didn’t like was that she didn’t make him grovel for forgiveness. Over all it’s a cute cheesy short story with a happily ever after.

Minx by Maggie Adams is a five star novel. I love how the author uses an older character and makes her sexy and necessary again. This was a nice quick read as we got to know Miranda. As an older woman, she thought she needed to take a break from relationships and just find herself. Then she finds herself, literally, in the lap of a complete stranger. He is gorgeous and with a voice that makes her weak. When he offers her a job, she knows she needs to take it even though she doesn’t believe she is qualified. After she starts the job, she realizes she can do the job and she isn’t too bad at it. When she meets her beau’s brother, she can’t decide whom she likes more. Then things start happening at the business the brothers are in charge of and she might have to take sides.

This is one of those stories that is right up my alley.

Good friends - check
Redemption - check
Humor - check
Quick read that held my attention - check
A little mystery to hold my interest - check

This book is on the shorter side and because of it, moves at a very quick pace. There were a couple of characters who I constantly rolled my eyes at (I'm looking at you Matt & Ritter) and I wanted to write them right out of the story and some of the situations were odd, but I found the story an enjoyable one and would recommend it.

I will be checking out other books by this author in the future.

I enjoyed this book. It's fast read that I read rather quickly. I loved Miranda. Life as thrown her a curve ball, but it's a blessing disguise because she may just find her HEA. Miranda is an older heroine who finally going to find the true and be free to be that woman. She's deserves a guy who will treat as the queen she is. Poor Miranda though she's a klutz and she finds herself in many embarrassing situations, but that's what makes her so likable. That's one of my favorites sides of her. I also love Miranda's group of friends. They are mix bag of awesome. This book sure does take unexpected twist that had me gasp. It's an easy read that will have you laughing and happy sighing.

Minx by Maggie Adams is a fun and entertaining book that will have you laughing out loud the whole way through.
I hadn’t been sure if I would like this book when I first picked it up. I had really connected with the blurb yet it had had such good reviews. I am definitely glad I gave this book a chance.
The main character was not just likeable but so relatable. She was fun, witty and thoroughly enjoyable. The journey she has to go on is one that could happen to anyone and it was great to see the way the author handled it all with such ease.
Ms Adams has a great writing style. The story flowed well and I found it to be well paced from start to finish. This was a thoroughly enjoyable book.
