Silverlight #3

Peacemaker

Rate this book
The hypnotic third installment of the exciting new reverse harem Silverlight series by Laken Cane.

A mystical home, a powerful sword, and five fierce, passionate men of my very own. Life is suddenly sweet for a vampire hunter.
I'm given about five minutes to enjoy it before everything starts going sideways.

The city is determined to put new regulations in place--regulations that will harm the supernaturals.
My men are wrestling with issues I can't fix, no matter how badly I want to.
An irate demon blows into Bay Town, bringing with him a newly forged sword that challenges my precious Silverlight and threatens one of my most vulnerable men.

When I think the situation is about as dire as it can get, it gets worse.
Much, much worse.

An ancient evil is coming.

I'll have to resurrect the dead to have an army to defeat it--but I'll do whatever it takes to protect the supernaturals, even as I defend the sometimes brutal humans who oppress them.
But my priority is protecting the men I love.

Angus, the tortured werebull, Amias, the master vampire, Shane, the sexy hunter, Rhys, the gorgeous mystery, and Clayton, the newly freed ex hunter. And now there's a sweet but dangerous half giant sneaking his way into my heart.

They're mine. I am theirs.
And I will do whatever it takes to save them.
Even if it means sacrificing myself.

Expect the unexpected, anything and everything will happen in this book
I loved it and struggled at the same time

Book 1 ★★★★ - Wow this is new and interesting.
Book 2 ★★★★ - Ok so I can suspend disbelief and go with the flow
Book 3 ★★★ - Did I smoke something before I started reading this

(Firstly and side note; thanks for the great catch up and character summary at the beginning Laken! It really was helpful and I wish more authors would do it)

I don't know where to start or how to even process this.

Everything happened on fast forward.

Poor trinity needs a holiday! She goes from one disaster to another in the space of a paragraph. There's no down time, her to-do-list for the day looks a bit like this
✔ Meet mayor
✔ Banish Demon to Hell
✔ Flight Vampires.
✔ Meet Police
✔ Make sure all boyfriends are safe at all times
✔ Show lost soul its path
✔ Have sex with one or more boyfriends
Wake up and repeat

And this could all happen within the same chapter!
The narration was giving me whiplash by the end

..“I don’t understand.” “Yes, you do.” And then I did.
...and things went relatively well. Until they didn’t.
...I wasn’t sure I could come again. But then, I did.
...“I’m ready,” I whispered. But I wasn’t ready.

Make up your mind please Trinity

The Harem was fantastic as always. Love them all. What else can I say only Rhys...lol to you and your equipment

Will I read the next - Hell yes
Am I dying over it and can't wait - Not really

I want more explanations and more dialogue and less "trippy" please! I mean is Silverlight even in her hand anymore or is she just fighting in the air now??

It just makes no sense anymore...

In some ways this was 5 stars for me, in other ways 3.

I read it all in one sitting, and that speaks for the fast pace of the plot, which is engaging.

Trinity continues to be a great character, on the whole. She has a bit of a saviour complex and her going on about 'her men' every 5 minutes got a bit annoying, but she's a solid character.

The Harem is great in this series. They are all so different and well-drawn. Each has his own character arc and I really like the way every aspect of it is dealt with.

Maybe it's the fast pace, or maybe it's the fact I didn't re-read the other two books, but I found the world building a bit of a mess. I don't find this world very well explained and it just seems that random stuff is constantly thrown in and it just gets more fantastical. There's just so much going on, and how it all links is never really dealt with. It's like the author has these great ideas and just sticks them all in there, without clarifying how it all connects. I don't remember it bothering me so much in the previous two books, so maybe it's just because so more is introduced here.

Regardless, I really enjoyed it and think this is a great series I would highly recommend to fans of both UF and RH.

Very good - some seriously sizzling scenes (the book almost started smoking), the ending was a shocker cliffhanger, and I still love the bond of the group. Amias was mainly in the shadows again but there were cool developments. Angus, the poor guy, he's a favorite. Like Jin and Leo. The caretaker job with the souls is a bit confusing. There are two villainouos groups in this one to fight, so the pace was strong and stayed interesting throughout. Only one more book after this one, just waiting for that published date.

Ah, Laken Cane does it again with this almost cliffhanger before the final book. I have to say I’m not ready for this series to end . Oh poor me. I love the protagonist whom is eminently likable, as is each of her disparate lovers. The story runs strong, and dominantly, apart and because of the MC and her harem who all have identifiable strengths. This has to be one of my favourite series evr and I’m left desparately awaiting book four.

Cliffhanger!

This book was so freaking hot! Like burn your eye balls out, HOT! I can’t even pick which one of the guys I like the best because I wish they were all mine. Lol! Seriously a great book! Ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger, so I feel twitchy knowing I’m going to have to wait see what happens next. Laken Cane outdid herself with Peacemaker.

Clayton, Angus and Shane I liked but the rest of the guys felt more like extras.

I enjoyed the series but this one not as much.

Agonizing groans, tears, fist pumps, exaggerated eye rolls, chuckles and chortles all out loud and all subconscious visceral reactions. If there was any time while reading this book, someone saw me, they would probably have me involuntary committed after filming me for a bit. At the end, I mourn the loss of the sheer joy and excitement that comes along with reading a book that was so awaited.

The developing relationship between Trinity and her Harem of men is always interesting to watch firsthand. But what caught my attention this time around was the relationships, the solid bonds that the men developed with one another. I knew that I enjoyed the mystery that is Rhys before, I just didn't know why. Now, I know, and holy crap! He's giving my other favorite a run for his money.

I read one of these books, this one in particular, and can't help but compare these situations to ones that have happened, are happening in the real world. The injustice, civil unrest, but mostly the way we treat those who are different from the expected status quo. Otherworldly awesomeness with real world application.

I'm already eagerly anticipating the next installment, while also preparing myself for it's finality.

I don't want to be the odd one out here but this was a wobbly 3 stars for me. Did I mostly enjoy it, yes? But here's the thing. Compared to any of the Rune Alexander books, there was none of the mystery, the relationship aspects were off and not deep in the same way and the action only so, so. To be honest, I would have scored it lower than 3 if not for the end.

I adore Laken Cane books but this is easily the worst I have read. Rune Alexander made me cry over and over and made me care and had me glued to the page. RH is hard to write but this book bored me and felt perfunctory. Maybe its just me but I believe the author can do and has done much better. The first two books were ok but this was enough to have me doubting whether I'd pick up the next. Not something I ever expected to say about one of Ms Cane's books.

Also I have said it before but the 'my men' is so last century and oddly patriarchal in sentiment. It also kind of relegates the guys to groupie status rather than distinct beloved individuals. What's wrong with 'the guys' or perhaps 'my guys'? And what was all the weirdness about Rhys's bits and the orgy in the kitchen. I'm down for group sex but that kind of felt icky.

More fantastic Urban Fantasy Reverse Harem shenanigans

This third book in the series is fantastic. It builds on the first two books, so you definitely have to read the first books, or this won’t make sense.

The author has an incredible ability to build tension and weave complex plot lines, all whilst connecting the reader with the characters with empathy. In this third book we see how Trinity, the bloodhunter, is forced to face a greater threat than any that has come before. A sort of cousin to the vampires has escaped from their containment. Rifters are as fast and as deadly as vampires, but they are immune to silver and can enter a house uninvited. If that isn’t enough Seamus the incubus is back to wreak havoc upon The Wayhouse occupants.

We see as Trinity starts to tighten her bounds with the men that she loves and learns to trust those men with her whole heart. They are all challenged with making sacrifices to the greater good and it’s heart wrenching stuff.

This book will have you reading with baited breath, turning each page faster than the last, as you get swept up in a fantastic story of blood, sacrifice and love.

READ IT!

I got my groove back!!

Thank you Laken Cane!!!! I've been an avid reader from an early age, reading constantly. Recently I have been in a slump. Nothing sounded good or could hold my attention past a few chapters. And then I saw on the author's Facebook page that the third installment of her Silverlight series was getting ready for release. Yes, please, and halefreakinglujah!!! Once I began I couldn't put it down. I had to know what Trinity was going to do with her men, who were her friends, and who were her enemies. When Laken Cane writes I see the movie in my head and let me just say, if this is ever made into a movie ( and it really should be....as should her Rune Alexander series....and Waifwater Chronicles series) then hold onto your seats for the wild ride and bring a fan with you, Ladies (and gentlemen), because you're gonna need it!! I'm anxious for the next in this series but will be sad for it as it will be the final book in the Silverlight series. I do trust that Ms. Cane has something else brewing in her writing cave for us!!

This book is about Trinity and her men having to defend the humans against a new type of vampire that have few weaknesses. Trinity and her men will go to battle for a city that hates them and all supernaturals but before the fight is over big sacrifices will be made. Can Trinity and her loves make it out alive and unscathed?

This book was so much fun! So action packed. I loved all the guys and the way station (I kind of wish there had been more info about the people coming to the way station but it's a minor thing). I loved Angus and his grief, Rhys is secretiveness about what kind of supernatural he his. I wish we had learned more about Jade and Amanda but maybe in the next book. Leo and Shane are definitely my favorite guys and unfortunately Amias is my least favorite he just gets on my nerves for some reason but he does protect Trinity so I guess I don't hate him to much. All of the characters are awesome and the story was very interesting and hard to put down a great read.

What can I say? Trinity and her men are in one hell of a spot! Do they help the humans who want to persecute ALL supernats? Or, do they let the humans get what they really do deserve? Of course we know Trinity will do the right thing for all concerned- after all, she is THE Caretaker. But, that entails SO much! We get to see her bond with her men- REALLY bond (whew, how HOT!)- and Rhys (not gonna spoil ANYTHING here!), well, you'll see (LOTS of squeeing!!)! My only regret is that we only have one more installment of Trinity and her men. But, hopefully it won't be the final time we see these characters we've come to know and love! Oh, did I mention THE FEELS?! Laken Cane is truly evil...E...V...I...L!! LOL

This is an excellent series by Laken Cane..it is full of action, fighting, blood, love and lose. I absolutely loved books 1 and 2 book 3 did not disappoint me. I really enjoyed reading about Trin and her men...men that are all so different and bring something different and interesting to the story and to Trin. The ending of the book really struck me...I loved how Laken wrote the last few chapters from multiple POVs and we get to see what happens through so many different eyes...such a cliffhanger though had me wanting book 4 immediately!! Laken started the book off with a recap of book 1 and 2 and this really helps the reader get back into the story!! This is a highly recommended series and I cannot wait to see what happens next!!

I am seriously torn about this series... I really wanted to like it and for the first 3 books I thought I would but the 4th book really ruined it for me. I hated the ending in so many ways.

1st - It's a medium burn reverse harem that feels soo slow. Not just with the plot but with the heat of it all.

2nd - Like I said the plot felt like it dragged on but I had to keep reading because I wanted to know what happened, so around books 3&4 I started to speed read and, once I got to book 4 I literally skipped the middle/end thrid and read the ending and was soo glad I did because I felt like this series wased my time.

Again I really really wanted to like this book and this series... It had soo much potential but it dragged, and the sex scenes were PG-13 and it just didn't cut it for me.

Whew there's a lot going on in this book! Trinity is, as usal, pulled in every direction at once.
I get that she is..well..Trinity. But I think the guys show be showed some respect and credit. They are not incapable of defending themselves, but she is always "protecting" them. I know she loves them, has all this "power", and doesn't want to see them hurt, but somethimes it seems a little deeming..at least to me. It gets a little redundant when it seems like that is in every other paragraph.
That being said, there is plenty of action, drama and heat to so engross the reader..me..that I finished it in 1 sitting.
And the ending? Knew it had to be coming but still...what a gut punch! Can't wait for the next installment.

Wow....I am just....speechless. This was phenomenal from start to finish. From finally finding out what kind of supernatural Rhys is, to the fast paced plot with twists and turns and heartbreaks which Laken does perfectly. I could not put this down, and my heart was in my throat for the majority of it. Hats off to another amazingly, heartbreakingly, wonderful book by Laken.
I also love how at the beginning of the book there was a "the story so far" along with a character summary, which made it so much easier to get back into the story :)

I love this series so much. I have been hooked from Bloodhunter, to Peacemaker. Each one just makes me more invested. I really enjoy Trinity as a main female lead. She is strong, loyal, funny, the perfect girl for all of the hot as hell guys who she is with. There is one scene that was over the top hot, just look for a certain kitchen scene. As always the action and suspense is spot on in a Laken Cane story. Seriously though if you have not started this series, pleas do so. You will not regret it!

Queen of Sex and Violence does it again!

I'm practically speechless at the moment. But, not too speechless to stop me from raving about this book! Laken has managed to kick up the horror and the heat when it was already so very intense! Obviously, it's what she does best. This book, this installment, was everything. So much love. So much pain. So much steamy deliciousness. So much violence. And so much more. If you haven't already, what are you waiting for?! Pick up this series and dive into Laken's amazing world now! You will not be disappointed!

I have no words after that ending! No words except to say what a book! I enjoyed the first book of this series but didn't love it. I really enjoyed the second book of the series and was getting pulled in. I floved this third book and have just read it all in one seating as I was that engrossed in it. This book brings all the story together so far and I wasn't expecting what happened to happen! It was full of dark danger and it was full of heat. I enjoyed it and I really need book four now! Five stars from me.

Fabulously Flawless

I am absolutely in love with this series. I couldn't put this book down. I love Laken Cane. Her writing is fabulously flawless. It's a beautiful thing to read a book and think about it days after you read it. You feel as if you're beside Trinity & her men ( yum! ) fighting the battles or having sexy time.
I'm both excited & dreading the next, final book. I want more, more & more. I can't get enough of Lakens book!

Love this series❤❤❤

Just keeps getting better and better. Laken really took it up a notch with the sexy times🔥🔥🔥. I may have shed a tear or two, but don't let that deter you! This is the best one out of the series so far!! I will be really sad to see the series end, that's for sure.

Thanks again for that recap, it was a big help when I don't have time to reread the series.

Buy it, people!! You won't regret it!

Oh my freaking god!

This book slayed, it lay waste to the enemies and my emotions. If I could curse on a review it f*cking slayed me. I'm not sure I'm going to recover from this one. One of the best books I've read this year to be honest, that ending though had me caught. So much freaking yes! Laken Cane once again throws us to the monsters and expects us to know how to f*cking swim.

Just like the first 2 books this one draws you in until the end, leaving you wanting the next book now. Trinity and the guys not only love and protect each other but those round them, however they are tested time and time again and this book is no different. The flow is great, characters that your drawn to and there is plenty of action, sexy time and twists to keep you hooked so.... bring on book 4!

So wow that was an epic ride for sure. Loved this book but I found a few things about it odd pertaining to Rhys. But everything else was fantastic and I can not wait to see how this story ends! So many questions I'd like answers to Laken but I'll have to wait and see. Definitely a must read for anyone who likes paranormal reverse harem books!

Good book.

I liked this book but it was short. Finished it in less than a day. Lots of stuff happen in the book though. I'm pretty sure trinity didn't sleep for the entire span of the book. And I have to say half the time trinity annoys me. Not enough to make me stop reading but it's there.
