Proteins are the basic building blocks of the human body. But most people are malnourished in amino acids, which are required to form protein—a deficiency that can lead to diabetes, obesity, cancer, and chronic diseases. It’s a serious problem for which Dr. David Minkoff offers a powerful solution in The Search for the Perfect Protein. A medical doctor and IRONMAN triathlete, Dr. Minkoff provides a new appreciation and understanding of these vital components of life and wellness. He examines the healthful or harmful effects of the foods you eat regularly. And he explores the importance of clean proteins in your diet while offering indispensable guidance on where to find them. Not all proteins are created equal, and they’re not just for bodybuilders. Whether you’re female or male, young or old, an athlete or a couch potato, The Search for the Perfect Protein will lead you to a stronger, healthier life.
There was some good info on toxins that kept my interest, but overall the book was a long-winded ad for the author’s product, Perfect Amino. If he had mentioned it a few times, I may have been tempted to try the product, but the gratuitous marketing discredited the entire book for me.
This book is broken down in to simple concepts that most can grasp. There are a few testimonials, and some case studies throughout the book. For anyone who has been perhaps searching for that "untouchable, unknowable" possible answer to their health issues, this book and Dr. Minkoff's product might be a possible solution?!? Yes, he does have to mention his product throughout the book, because that's what he's basing his knowledge and remedying of health for his clients.
There was some very useful information in this book that drove me to find more depth from other sources. Overall I feel like I just read a very large pamphlet for the Author’s product, Perfect Amino.
This book is so good. Both my husband and i have read it. If you are interested or even wondering about and desiring to understand your body and how to care for it I highly suggest you read this book. It is well written and packed with information.
Excellent information. I learned a lot. It tended to push their product a lot, which distracted firm the valuable information within the pages. I can see where this could be a turn off for others, and thus they’d reject the other great information. I was able to ignore it and learn. The information was well explained and presented, otherwise. It connected a lot of dots for me, answering many questions I had had about protein intake. The case studies were fascinating.
I discovered this book by Dr. Minkoff while researching the topic of leaky gut. This is an excellent book about the usefulness of predigested essential amino acids. Everyone interested in maintaining their health should read this book and embrace the recommendations by Dr. Minkoff.
Needed some editing. Probably biased as he dissed my profession regularly. But can’t give a good rating to something citing blog articles and make arguments that have logical fallacies. Do I think there may be truth in what he’s saying? Yes. But not presented well
Perfect Amino provides the 8 essential amino acids that your body needs to produce protein. Nothing else comes close, even though big pharma, and big business try to say otherwise. This book, written by world renowned medical expert, Dr David Minkoff explains how amino acids and protein are the building blocks to getting healthy, staying healthy and getting your body as fit as possible. At 71 years of age, Dr Minkoff not only cures patients with chronic diseases and works with high level athletes, he practises what he preaches. He has completed 42 Iron Man events and is still training and competing.
If you're studying nutrition, this book is a good supplement for your education, or if you'd like the study a bit before deciding to major in a degree program.
As an autistic person, diagnosed before my vaccinations, I'm sceptical about his beliefs on vaccines.
I'll understand if some see this as a sales pitch for his Perfect Amino supplement, but there's still good information about how your body works.
Ultimately, a pretty good resource, written well enough to be easily understood, but a couple controversial claims.
I thought there was a lot of good info on protein and nutrition as well as the elements that are making healthy living difficult. I feel like I learned a lot even as a health and wellness coach. I didn't agree with all of his asserts ( for example I can't condone a Paleo diet as the most healthy) but I did think most of the info was well documented. I take Perfect Amino and have noticed improvement in my athletic endeavours.
