I actually enjoyed the concept of this story however there were lots of things that I just couldn’t get over. Mixing present and past tense is one of them, the spelling mistakes throughout is another (it isn’t Rouges... it’s Rogues... ROGUES.... unless you’re talking about a theatre in Paris where the first name is Moulin). There was also a complete 180 of the characters - like he hated her one second and then was declaring he wanted her the next - where the hell did that come from? Also introducing other characters’ POV 75% of the way through the story spoilt the flow. No one cares about Kayla when we are coming to the end of the actual real story. It was also like the author had so many ideas that they just wanted to get out there that they put them all into one book.

I think with a really good editor and beta readers that this writer could do something good here.

I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how this book has a 4+ average star rating. It’s awful. The plot is actually good - I’d love to see what a more experienced writer could do with it. The dialog reads like it was written by a middle schooler and if you took out the steamy scenes, it would read like an after school special.

Was there no editor on this book? There’s tons of misspellings, change in tense (in the same sentence no less!) poor sentence structure, wrong words, and times where a sentence begins from 1 character’s POV and shifts to another character.

I also felt that the resolution to the MFC finding her mate was a bit too convenient. I would liked to have seen there be more conflict there . . . A fated mate vs a chosen mate.

I don’t recommend this book. There’s too many other good books out there.

Crap ending

I read this whole story and I appreciate that someone took the time to write it. The story felt disjointed and choppy I felt like the author tried to tell everyone’s story and ended up with a sub par novel.

Alpha's Dirty Little Secret
By Symone Ross

I liked the story as a whole, but there were parts that made no sense and other parts were never cleared up.

Why was Amira sent to Xavier's pack out of the blue in the first place after he visited her parents? Why did he bully her and continually act like he thought she thought she was better than everyone else? She never gave that impression to anyone or acted that way at all.

This was a slow burn romance with misunderstandings on Xavier's part because he just assumed things instead of actually asking her what happened. Everytime it only served to upset Amira and make her unhappy.

Last...

The book is in Amira's and Xavier's POV. Some chapters were also in Kayla and Steven's POV. Those chapters were pointless and just fillers. Which considering how long the book is it would have been better if they'd just been left out. The angst level is on the low side.

I have a lot to say about the book. But over all I enjoyed the story and narrator. It’s a shifter story about an angry alpha and an unhappy pack member forced from her city home back to the pack house to train. The alpha seems to have it out for her and she can’t figure out why. There’s tons of push and pull between the characters. The bad guys aren’t always who they seem with violence and courageous acts the story keeps drawing you back in. There are moment where you want to punch characters in the face because they are oblivious to what’s going on or hug them because life sucks. I enjoyed the listening to this story but I had a few problems. There was a lot of short choppy sentences with repetitive words. One example is “I scrubbed my body vigorously and rinsed, cleansing my body. The use of body twice was to much for me. It happened a enough in the 12 hour book to start to annoy me. With a little editing the sentences would have flowed much better with out distraction. Another thing I didn’t under stand is why the majority of the book is in Amira’s point of view and then randomly you got Stevens or Kaylas point of view. There short bursts of POV seem to just add in odd tidbits that should probably have their own story. Yes Steven love for Xavier’s sister is important but it could have been told from Amira’s POV as conversation with them. Same goes with Kayla and her mates random spot light moments. I don’t think the switch in characters added to the story except for Xavier as his views directly involved Amira and their relationship. I think that Other characters story lines have value but they should have been the ones telling the story because for example, how is Kayla’s in-depth sexual frustration experience truly important to Amira and Xaviers story because this is a story about their love. Hit the high lights that could have been in a omg hers killing me cause he won’t make the first move conversation and then have what happened with shift explained when she is called for help. There are other examples but it feels like they were added to just make the book longer or she wanted to share so much instead of write more then one story. I would love to see their whole stories with over lapping timelines though. I have seen authors do this and it works well and continues to add layers into the stories and world. I loved the narrators voice. You could tell when she switched characters, feel emotions and she has an amazing cadence. My only issue was in the beginning you could her every in take of breath she took. Like she would take a deep breath read a few sentences take another big breath and read some more. It happened some where in the middle too but didn’t let very long. The beginning was a little rough but once she got into to the story she did beautifully.

Alpha's Dirty Little Secret is that this book is all over the place, poorly edited, and lacks focus. The story's concept is great, but after the first couple of chapters, it becomes painfully clear that the lead characters are idiots and absolutely no plot. The majority of this story takes place in a bedroom in the alpha house. The characters are not well defined and are one-dimensional. The pack or tribe seems to consist of only young members with no seniors in sight.

Amira is a college student living among the unassuming human race as one of them when she is, in fact, a shifter. During a break from school Amira's father and mother send her off to spend time training with the pack. But not before Alpha Xavier and his parents come to dinner. If Amira had any sense at all, she would realize that Xavier's treatment of her at dinner in her own house is just a prelude to what's to come.

Long story short. Xavier's a moody, broody, childish alpha who has the hots for Amira and shows it by being rude and obnoxious to her at every turn. Amira is too old to be naive and, to put it simply, is just a fool who can't control her hormones. On the other hand, after the story unfolds and his true mate, Farrah, is revealed--I understand the moody-broody attitude. As if trying to follow these two isn't enough, the author feels compelled to start another story in the middle of the first by introducing a new character, Kayla, which could easily be book two in the series.

Alpha's Dirty Little Secret isn't a stay up reading into the night read and forget every stereotyped story about alphas and their wolfpacks because Alpha's Dirty Little Secret shatters them all. And not always in a good way.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2.5 stars.

Plot: Amira's parents send her to live in the pack's house. There, she reconnects with an old friend and even gets some new friends. She also starts having dirty dreams because she's in heat, but her dreams are about the Alpha, Xavier. They start something, and eventually, Xavier declares to the whole pack that she's his, even though they're not fated mates. Although, when Amira finally meets her fated mate, she doesn't want to be with him because she loves Xavier, and he doesn't want to be with her because he already has a wife and 2 kids. They decide to mutually reject each other. But when Amira tells Xavier that she met her mate, he acts cold and says that their time together was 'fun'. He doesn't even give her the chance to explain that She rejected her mate because of him. Then she gets kidnapped, again. Well, she goes to see who Farrah is, and she kidnaps Amira. Then the whole crappy ending thing happens, and her father dies.

This was a good book, but the ending was not good. It was a crap ending. Amira just suddenly becomes pregnant with Xavier's child because Farrah injected her with something?! They didn't even conceive the child in the normal way which would've been way better for the story. The author also tried to include everyone's stories in this. She suddenly changes and makes this a multi-POV book, even though at the beginning it was one POV, which I think would've worked much better. All in all, the book had its issues, because I could tell this book was originally from Wattpad, but I did read it for 7 hours straight in one sitting because I stayed up until 4 am, even though I had to be up at 8:30.

"don't keep bringen up the 'you're not my mate' or 'I'm not yours' thing because I'm going to say it one time and one time only: I don't care! that shit means nothing to me. You do Amira, I do love you, and no, I will not give you up. No matter how stubborn you are at times, you belong to me. You're mine, and so is the baby you're carrying. I just hope you understand that"

It is an enemies to lovers story and even thought it's about werewolves and mates, the main couple aren't mates. They both rejected their mates because well the girl is cazy and the guy has already a family of his own. So that was an original twist.

This story is written in multiple POV and there are 3 couples that are followed at times. There is the main couple (Xavier and Amira) and then sometimes you followed his sister with her lover and in the end you follow a little of Allen and his mate. Overall it didn't bother me that it was written like that but personally I prefered them having their own story.

overall an amazing story and I would recommend it to people who like a werewolf story with a little bit of spice and a lot of second hand embarrasment.

Story - 2
Narrator - 4 (Her narration in her more recent books is awesome!)

I picked this book because of the narrator. I have listened to many other books she has narrated and really enjoyed them. This is one of the first books she narrated, and it was entertaining to hear her really getting into the characters as the book progresses. She did so well considering how many grammatical errors, strange word usage, and weird story direction changes she had to deal with!

As to the story... Clearly the author has some good ideas. However, this book was clearly not edited. It takes distracting turns and randomly adds new characters that take away from the main plot. The grammar is horrible. I really wanted to rate it higher, but by the end I was having a hard time getting through it because of all the issues.

A really enjoyable shifter romance

I read a lot of shifter books....I mean, a LOT, so they tend to get a bit redundant. I just happened to stumble across this little gem and am so glad that I did! I really enjoyed the tension between the fmc and mc. They are just too funny together and the steamy scenes, woooo girl! I would really like to read the sequel to this!
Yes, there are a few typos, but what book doesn't have them. My literally only complaint was the use of the term shoulder blade. He would be kissing her neck, from in front of her, them he placed kisses on her shoulder blade?!?! I think the author meant her shoulder or collar bone, but who knows. It is definitely worth the read!

This was a well written story about how a woman who wanted nothing more then to live a normal human life away from the pack and all the activities involved, however, her father had other plans, she was taking to the pack house. She make new friends, has to deal with the childhood friend who is now the alpha who is rude, arrogant, and sets absorbed so she thinks. She is drawn to the alpha even when he is rude and obnoxious to her. She is not approached by another other male and wonders why, soon she learns that the Alpha has said she is off limits. She is feisty, and outspoken to the alpha, she is in heat and having vivid dreams of the Alpha pleasing her body. Its a very interesting read with lots of twist and turns and hot heavy sex.

Concept was good but would have been better broken down into a few books. There were a few times it jumped into the perspective of secondary characters which was a bit confusing and almost like a filler- which with the length of the book, was really not needed.
Then the premise of the dislike between characters to all of a sudden being smitten, it kinda gets dragged out and then flipped so quickly and all consuming.
Also there were some confusing parts where a character talks but you aren't actually introduced to who it was so you have to go back and forward to decipher it a bit. With a good editor and separating ideas a bit this would be a good book/s!

I just finished Alpha’s Dirty Little Secret (Book 1) and The Unborn (Book 2) on Kindle Unlimited, and they’re both really engaging. Symone Ross builds a strong wolf-pack atmosphere, the characters are compelling, and the story moves at a good pace.

What Worked:

Strong Characters: Amira and her pack feel real and full of personality.

Good Pacing: There are enough surprises to keep you turning pages.

Balanced Romance: Heated scenes that don’t go over the top.

What Didn’t:

A Few Typos: Occasional grammatical errors—nothing major, but noticeable.

Unresolved Ending: The Unborn finishes on a serious cliffhanger, and there’s no Book 3 available anywhere (checked Amazon, Goodreads, Fable—you name it).

Bottom Line:
If you can overlook a handful of typos and you don’t mind an open ending, you’ll enjoy these first two books. But be warned: you’ll end up hanging mid-story because a full third novel hasn’t been published yet.

I felt like a lot of the story could have been condensed down. Those extra every day bits made the story dry. Then, there were inconsistencies in the story. Little details I would have to go back and reread to decipher the hows or whos about that instance. The redundancies in some parts are annoying as well. The POV change to Kayla? It didn't add to the story in any meaningful way, felt like fluff and a set up for a possible book for her? I don't know, it felt so out of place and detracted from the story, especially the time jump.

Disappointed

Struggled to finish this book. So many things were wrong with this book. It definitely needed better editing. One example is the scene where the Alpha and Amira are in a restaurant and the alpha orders Mountain Dew and then the busboy comes to fill his Pepsi. Another thing about this book is it was all over the place and there was so many things that seemed pointless. And to top it off, I was not overly fond of the main characters.

Alright

The story was okay, but it needs to be edited. It contains plenty of misspellings and incorrect words, for instance plains instead of plans. Also, the story doesn't flow in some instances and the scenes change without warning. There was one instance where the chapter was supposed to be in the past, some time had passed since the events of that day, yet there where no cues to indicate as much before starting the chapter. And the ending...

Amira goes to live at the pack house. Xavier the alpha tells everyone she is off limits but she isn't his "destined " mate because he all ready had one that he refused. Controlling non communicating male. Then 3/4 of the way thru the book we start getting insights from other character point of view. There was potential in the storyline and for a continuing story but I won't be following. And did the bad rejected mate get caught or did she get away?

Get through the start, then judge

This was an interesting read. I found some of the details on the first few chapters to be unnecessarily for the story line; but once you get through the start of the book then it gets good. I’m not a huge fan of the female lead, she talks a big game, but doesn’t ever back it up. I also struggled with some of the lack of consent - it’s unclear in the beginning - which made those pages difficult to read.

Such a disappointing read.

The mml and mfl spend the first half of the book hating each other for no apparent reason, all while also hate banging eachother, also for no apparent reason. The actions and emotions of the mml make absolutely no sense, and we're more roller-coastered than a bipolar on crack. Not to mention the choppy pov chapters from third party characters that offered absolutely nothing the plot or story.
Just trash

This book held my interest well and made me want more. Great tension between the two main characters, even though he was a great ass at first, unforgivably rude, and she seemed way too smart to fall for him without more ass-kissing on his part. And the end seemed unfinished, so maybe there’s a sequel...? Not sure but if there is, I will definitely read it! Thank you, Miss Ross. Well done!!

Annoyingly boring..

Nothing interesting about the mc and the alpha was a jerk. Don't get why the guy treats her like dirt while screwing other women. Couldn't stand the h and the heroine was pathetic. This was one of the worse werewolf book I read with boring storyline, unlikable douche h, weak mc, and no development. Gave up at 35%...DNF

Its an okay story, I just cant get over the lack of self control on the females part I have read bunches of ware books where the females are insatiable with there mate cant say no to them, this chick has no self control (even out of heat) or self esteam, with someone that is not her mate. And is really childish I was annoyed but I just cant leave a book unfinished.

OK story, but poorly written

The author tries really hard (IMO), but there’s just no easy flow and there are so very many grammatical errors it pulls you right out of the story.

It’s oddly plotted out so it doesn’t really make sense.

2-Stars because she tries, and that’s more than most of us will ever do.

PS the book(s) stuffing at the end was off putting

I saw this book on a list of the best wolf shifter novels EVER. Well… it definitely may be the most sex positive one. The heat level rings all five alarms. As for everything else, particularly the characters, there is a lot left to be desired. There is potential. It’s just too many characters, too much angst and not enough depth.

no, just no
Choppy, in the MC female character head too much.. MC male lead did like a 180 too many times, so too the female lead actually.
Random other characters POV for no reason and adds nothing, apart from adding page count. Like no.

Cannot understan the high ratings, maybe for the cover.

What can I say? Werewolf books are a guilty pleasure. I find it naturally hot or whatever. This is one of the best I read this year and look at that 3 day for the year to finish.
Ordinarily werewolf books are cliched, not so well written and sometimes they seem afraid of being hot and dark, this one is not the darkest but it is hot enough. 3/5 eggplants!=p

Abrupt ending but a good read

I really enjoyed this story but felt like it ended rather abruptly but maybe there will be a second book?

There was suspense and drama and I liked the focus on the supporting characters but feel like there is so much more that could be explored
