Welcome to the small town of Elm Ridge, Kentucky, where you’ll swoon, smile, and fall helplessly in love with the Green family.
Colton Green thinks he’s got life all figured out. He’ll run the Red Widow Bourbon factory—a business that’s been in his family for generations—build a beautiful home, marry a nice country girl, and start a family. After all, family is what the Greens are all about.
But all those perfectly laid out plans fly out the window the second he meets Grace Baker. There’s no room in his life for the big city legal eagle who’s recently joined his uncle’s law firm.
How could she fit in his plans when she’s accepted a case against his best friend? How could he still be drawn to her? And how will he stay away from her if she settles down for good in his small town?
Each book in the KENTUCKY GREEN small town romance series can be read on its own.
It was an okay story. I have to ask if the author has ever been to Kentucky? So many details of the book are much more suited to Texas. We don’t have ranches or cowboys in Kentucky. The horse farms are generally comprised of Thoroughbreds. You would never hold a camp for children and put them on a Thoroughbred. You would also not go to a party and see people square dancing in Kentucky in 2019. This is such an ignorant stereotype. We dance to normal music like everyone else in the country. Most of the bourbon information was at least correct. Anyway, you pretty much lost me with talk of cowboys and ranches.
Good writing...ok story line...too many characters - with similar sounding names which leads to some confusion at times. The story was too short to have any depth...no build up and when you think there will be...nothing. Falls flat. I kept waiting for something/anything to happen. And it was a love at first site and will you marry me within 2 months story. Nope. Male characters who are supposed to be “manly men” are so sappy... I wish the author had more oomph to characters and story line...it was a quick easy read but I won’t read anymore books in from this writer if this is any indication how all the other books will be. Which is too bad because she’s a decent writer.
Upon meeting Grace Baker, Colton believes he has met the woman of his dreams. When he learns she's accepted a case against his best friend, Colton's world comes crashing down. How can the city slicker be his dream when she is going to destroy his friend? How will he figure things out so everyone is happy?~
Olivia Sands’ Colton makes me want to move to Elm Ridge, Kentucky and join in on one of the Green family bar-be-ques! Colton and Grace were the perfect couple, with instant attraction — yet a slow burn — as they fall in love steadily, but surely. This is small town sweet romance done right!
However for me came up short. Colton and Grace are the stars of the show and there are so many supporting characters that you are left to sort out for yourself not knowing who, what, why etc. The storyline is weak and of course you realize this is the first in a series however it did not grab me sufficiently to want to read another book. 2.5 ⭐️⭐️🌟Stars is my take but please read it for yourself and make up your own mind.
This may be my first book by Olivia Sands, but it definitely won’t be my last. I loved the start to the Kentucky Green series and I can’t wait to read more. This series being set in my home state is just icing on the cake, lol. Colton and Grace meet and they are attracted to each other, but things aren’t what they seem. She thinks they’re getting close and he pulls back or he thinks they are and she pulls back. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say if you’re looking for a small town romance series with wonderful characters, then you will definitely love this new series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I believe that this is only the second time I gave a story 5 stars. If it gives you any idea about the stories I like, my favorite is "Atlas Shrugged " by Ayn Rand.
The first book in the Kentucky Green series by an Author I have not read before. A well written story that kept me turning pages. The storyline drew me in and the story flows smoothly from page to page. I want to read the next book in this series. Grace and Colton will have a lot to overcome before they get their happy ending. I enjoyed reading this book.
This was a sweet small town read w complete with the big family and nosey neighbors. Grace and Colton fell quick and easy. Sometimes when you know, you know.
Vita - per RFS . Ben trovate, fenicette.

A book set in Kentucky! Near Lexington!! I’m home!!! Well, maybe not. The KY that is described in Colton isn’t all that accurate for what this part of KY is truly like. I mean, do we have a lot of bourbon distilleries? Sure. Horse farms? Yup. Only those horse farms are thoroughbred or standardbred farms and those farms certainly wouldn’t open up their farms for youth camps. Those animals are way too valuable! Oh, and they are called "farms," not ranches, and they are not filled with cowboys. Now, do we have some youth camps? Yes, but the way the Green family’s businesses are described they are traditional distilleries and horse farms. There are other things, but those are the two most glaring.
Now, for the story between Colton and Grace…Grace is a newly divorced lawyer from Manhattan looking for a complete change to her life. Colton isn’t really looking for big changes, a relationship, or anything. They are instantly attracted when they meet, but their interactions are always very public and move slowly until the very end. There isn’t much build-up, just BAM! They have decided they are in love with one another. The characters are static and the story is about the same. All that said, it was OK. This book is more of a filler of time than one that you’re anxious to sit down with and absorb.
A cute story, based on several misunderstandings that could have been solved by a little communication, with a predictable ending...
It would have been nice to know why Grace’s ex wanted to sell the place so quickly, even if she found out by accident (it would have been another confirmation that it was a case of good riddance here...).
Eh. I am not sure I want to read anymore in the series. I found the characters very bland and not developed. Their relationship magically happened with very little interaction.
There are some days (okay, I’ll admit it happens quite a lot) where I find an interesting looking book cover or box set of books that attracts my attention. I do find myself judging books by it’s cover quite a bit and someday that may haunt me. Thus far, though, an attractive cover is just the start to get me interested.
Then there’s the Kentucky Green series by Olivia Sands. I received and mail from this fantastic author asking for reviews for her box set. I hadn’t read any of her books yet and the cover and the blurbs about the books in the box set sound like books I’d enjoy. Needless to say, I purchased the box set for the first three books. So far, I’m not disappointed!
Colton is the bourbon man of the family. He’s often busy with his bourbon business and spends lots of time with his large family. They seem to do everything together and happen to know everyone in their community. It seems everyone has their hand in something in this town that’s small enough to know everyone’s business.
Small town Elm Ridge, KY is a great place for farming and bourbon, apparently! It doesn’t take long for Grace to enjoy the slower pace and enjoys the friendships she’s gained even in just a few weeks time. She’s a mediator and a lawyer and has a way with getting people to meet in the middle. It’s amazing how far honesty can get you!
Colton and Grace seem to run into one another quite a lot. But, who wouldn’t in such a small town? Neither is looking for romance, and they both seem to push the other away. Will small town Colton be able to woo big city girl Grace? Will Grace’s time in Elm Ridge be extended?
Colton (Kentucky Green Book 1) by Olivia Sands is an excellent read! I really enjoyed how easy it is to go through the book and the light-heartedness of the plot. I’m a bit jealous that everywhere Grace looks, there seems to be a handsome man around, though! I look forward to reading the rest of the 7 book series! I give this book 5 out of 5 tiaras!
Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this story set in a small town in Kentucky full of friendly folk, large families and that slower pace of life. Grace is a big city girl who, through hard work, became a lawyer and licensed mediator. However she needs to change the direction her life had been going and opts to try the small town thing. Little did she realize just how drastic a change it would be… her plans of no getting involved with anyone, the expectation to interact with and become part of a big family through of her job, getting used to community ‘gossip’ in a small town … What was she thinking!?! Though she feels scared of the close-knit Green family, she cannot seem to ignore the draw she finds toward Colton Green. And Colton doesn’t think Grace belongs in their town, let alone handle a case concerning his best friend. Through rocky starts and bumps in the road, Colton and Grace find that doubts and detours can all be handled once they give in to more open communication and trust. The HEA is a given, but reading the story to see how they get there is the real prize … well written with very believable characters.
Lawyer Grace Baker just moved to Elm Ridge, KY. Recently divorced and ready for a quieter life than she had in NY Grace isn't prepared to fall for her new bosses nephew Colton and she knows with her past he deserves so much more than she can give him. Yet, can she walk away from the feelings that are quickly developing?
Kentucky bourbon man Colton Green is part of a huge, loving family that have all mostly settled in Kentucky and he has no desire to ever leave. Meeting Grace has him seeing himself with his own big family some day. But he has to remind himself that she is a big city girl, and would she ever be able to settle in his small home town? Plus, she is so hot and cold he can't figure out how she could fit into his life. When her past comes calling it seems obvious he won't fit in hers.
Sweet and clean, this book was fun and entertaining. This author has an excellent way of winding a story that keeps you interested and wanting more. I can't wait to read more of this series.
Leaving New York for a job in Kentucky, Grace is looking for a fresh start. She has an immediate connection with her new boss and Gloria, the office manager. What she doesn’t anticipate is the warm welcome she receives from the rest of the large Green family, especially Colton. Initially, Grace doesn’t seem to be his type, but quickly he rethinks his earlier expectations. Then there is Grace’s temporary landlady - my goodness! What an old stick in the mud!!! Gunner & his sis, Mackenzie, expose a compassionate side of Grace that was unexpected by all except her employer! As additional characters in the small town are introduced, I got a real sense of small town connections., and the potential for other stories. One little item that caught my eye, Grace’s ex left her bcoz his girlfriend was expecting. She apologized to Colton bcoz she wouldn’t be able to give him children. The ex’s gf lied - not pg. So I won’t be surprised if Grace & Colton have a whole string of little Greens!!! Can’t wait for volume 2 !!!
A quick and easy read full of typical cliches and love-at-first-sight romance. Everything you’d expect when a newly-divorced lawyer moves from the big city to a small town and meets a hunky rustic man. Complete with a mention of horses, way too much information about the process of making bourbon, line dancing, and a man who actually says, “What in tarnation.” A predictable (somewhat cringey) book if you are just looking for a filler.
The thing that threw me off the most about this book was the “men don’t understand women” cliché and how hard it was for Colton to wrap his mind around the fact that a woman can be sweet, smart, AND strong... all at the same time! Not to mention, I hated the fact that this sweet, smart, strong woman just crumbled into a swooning maiden whenever they had any sort of physical interaction at all. Yikes.
I cant even say it was a guilty pleasure book because there was quite literally no spice and a tiny bit of build up that just exploded at the end.
This was the first book I read by Olivia Sands and I just loved the story. After the divorce, Grace Baker left New York and went to the small town of Elm Ridge to work at Ashton Green's law firm, Colton's uncle. When Grace and Colton meet, the attraction between them is immediate and they begin to spend some time together, but when some misunderstoods happen, they end up moving away a bit. At the same time, Grace has to deal with her ex-husband and the doubt if she will be contracted definitively by Ashton and if she'll remain in Elm Ridge. I loved the story and the characters. I'm already looking forward to read more about the other members of the Green family. I highly recommend the reading.
Grace was great at her job, meeting people at a casual gathering, was not easy, she keep repeating she could do it. Thinking of retreating, when her boss calls out a greeting to her. Meeting his nephews, Colton, a bourbon man, held her gaze. Both of the nephews, liked woman with a gentle soul, while their uncle has hired another cutthroat lawyer. Was there more to Grace, after she got away from the big city, and became her true self. One was learning to have a life, and go home in the evenings. Colton had his plans laid out of what he wanted, yet, there was this attraction between them, she came from from a broken marriage , and both seemed to take one step forward and two back. Good family story.
The swearing was mild, but still threw me off since it's my preference to not have any. Loved the foreshadowing, the subtleties. Felt like I got to know the characters and the community as a whole was quite believable. Freshly divorced, Grace moves from big city to small town to take a job at a prestigious local law firm. One of the local perks is her boss' nephew, whom she keeps trying to steer clear of...except that she's starting to believe in love at first sight. Colton is almost too in tune for a man who's apparently never had a serious relationship and flatly states that he doesn't understand women. Personally, I couldn't have fallen for him. It's clean on screen, despite her ex's idiotic/insulting best efforts, and the characters do grow. At least, Grace does.
*This rating is more so on an experience rather than the story itself* Okay….I had to DNF this (audiobook version). Apple Books did this author such a disservice by creating a digital voice based on a human narrator and creating this audiobook. The story alone has A LOT of characters with very similar sounding names so you had to really keep up with character change/introductions. The “narrator” would try and change tones between male and female characters but sometimes this wouldn’t work. The “narrator” would continue in a deepened or heightened voice for both male AND female characters so you wouldn’t know who was actually talking and it made the story incredibly hard to follow.
Colton runs a his family bourbon distillery, Red Widow Bourbon Factory which has been in his family for generations. Colton comes from a big family which Grace is not sure if she can fit in. Grace is a city lawyer looking to start over over her marriage failed. She found out that her husband was cheating on her and he thought the woman was pregnant (which she wasn't). Colton thought that she was representing his friend's twin, but it out turns out that was not the case. Colton and Grace have chemistry and it takes awhile for them to get going. The book was really good and I enjoyed reading it. No drama to speak of and lots of love. A definite read to anyone's list.
You will love this sweet clean romance from the first chapter. A lawyer, Grace moved from New York city to a small quaint country town to get rid of all the pressure and her cheating ex husband. The first week there her boss invited her to a cookout at his ranch and that's where she met Colton. When Colton was introduced to Grace, he was smitten by her beauty and the feel of her hand in his. The challenge was "on" and he ready for the Chase. They had their differences and difficulties, but they were able to open up to each other and fall in love. If the other books in this series th enjoy we are all in for some good reads. MK
What a fun book. This is the start if a new series and with the brothers and sister and all the cousins, there's a pleather of possible storylines. Grace is a lawyer who left New York after her marriage ended. She's looking for a fresh start. Colton runs the family's bourbon business. The instant they meet the attraction is quick but there may be an obstacle or two in front of them The storyline is sweet, clean and believable. You'll enjoy Colton and Grace, as well as the host of secondary characters. I was given this book for an honest voluntary review
