Reverse harem books

Rate this book
I'm seeing what to me is a new trope in romance novels, 'reverse harem', where a female is given emotional support (and love by three or more of the members) as they are bound together for some reason (a commando team goes into action, in YA it's a school setting like a club where the group is bullied by outsiders and pulls together for support. The guys bond together as brothers and the female finds that the guys can be more than predatory jerks. The attraction for female readers is the love bonding without sex, the emotional ties that develop - altho there are sexier versions that do have erotic sex scenes but I think it spoils the fun of the bonding.

My Desert Breeze YA novel Eden on the Frontier qualifies as a reverse harem book - pack train of settlers goes westward into western Pennsylvania frontier country in colonial times and in this enclosed group, sixteen year old Eden leans on the support of four young men, three of whom are interested in her romantically. A sweet backwoods romance that won a Pittsburgh writers award from The Author Zone Independent awards, first place for Young Adult novel in 2017. Young Eden is love-bombed as she and her young men try to find their place on a new frontier.
