Sophie knew one day she would pay for the path she took by working for the Morano Crime family. She didn’t seek it out, but rather fell into it after working as an accountant for one of their legitimate businesses. It was just so easy to cross over the line. She was paid very well and dating Nikko Morano was exciting. Yes, she knew there would be a cost, but not this… never this. After being brutally beaten and almost killed by a man obsessed with her, Sophie ran. The man was Nikko Morano. He ran the family's criminal empire. Sophie had worked for him and expanded his empire beyond the borders of the northeast. Sophie’s disappearance was a danger to the organization’s continued prosperity. Sophie knew too much…she knew everything. But it was more than that for Nikko, he loved her, was obsessed with her. Nikko had asked Sophie to marry him before she disappeared.Sophie found what she was looking for in a small town in Washington State. Peace. A peace that comes from giving one’s life fully to God. Now she had to decide if she could make things right by going back and undoing the wrong, she had done by expanding Nikko’s empire. Trying to take Nikko Morano down might be the last thing she’d ever do.
I really enjoyed the story and found it was often inspirational. I wish Ms Webb would have done a better job editing; grammar and sentence structure were distracting. The text often felt a little simplistic and lackluster. However, the theme of the story, God's gracious love, and care for the "one lost sheep" were marvelous. I enjoyed the book, and as an author of similar Christian suspense and romance in real world circumstances, learned a lesson by the way she told this story without offensive language or scenery. Well done! Thank you Ms Webb!
