Something Like Hate by Claudia Burgoa was a firework of emotions. It was heartbreaking and breathtaking. I swooned, I sighed, I cursed, I melted and I had this extraordinary experience. The range of emotions portrayed by the author in this unique and refreshing story is incredible.

This is not a simple haters-to-lovers romance. It has office romance, hate-to-love, second chance and everything wrapped with Claudia Burgoa's phenomenal writing. She always touches my heart with her honest, flawless and intense writing. She did not hold back unleashing heartbreak, sweetness and angst in this story. Miller is such an enigmatic guy! He is rude, career oriented, dominating, controlling and only cares about himself. But Claire, the asset of his advertising agency team changes him fast when they go on a fake relationship display in his sister's marriage. But soon some dramatic misunderstandings tear them apart. Now Claire has bitterness and anger in her sceptical heart while working her way up in the business world. And Miller is devastated, broken and sad while trying to be a man Claire deserved. Now their paths cross again and Miller is determined to win her back. Beg, borrow, steal- he will do anything!

I love Claire. Strong and independent heroines with sass, smart and heart of gold are one of the main feature of Claudia Burgoa's books. And Something Like Hate is no exception. I am so proud of Claire. And so attracted to Miller for the way he acted second time. He was a serious idiot to let her go first time but his gestures won my heart. Their chemistry is spectacular and ridiculously hot. They understand and complete each other. The staggering pain and desperation when they were apart really touched my soul. The chemistry was sultry and sinful. The emotional connection is soul numbing deep and inspiring. Even the hate was incredibly beautiful. Slow burn reached a new height in this story.

Something Like Hate by Claudia Burgoa was a swoonworthy, sexy and brilliant story. The storyline was refreshing and engaged me instantly. The writing was perfection. And the emotions captured my heart completely.

Claudia Burgoa has always delivered such beautiful books. Something Like Hate is just that, it was so heartfelt. What you would assume is an office romance as both Claire and Miller worked for the same company turned out to be a fake relationship story with some twists and turns along the way.

I love how Claudia creates these characters that are relatable and that will capture your attention. Claire and Miller has great chemistry and I found were well developed. You feel as if you know them with all the details given.

Something Like Hate will have you captivated from the very beginning. Claudia is an amazing writer and will have your heart and head all over the place. She will pull on your heartstrings until the very end. This is a fabulous read as Claudia never ceases to amaze me. I highly recommend this book!!

I love Claudia Burgoa's books, they are always heartfelt even when they are are the lighter side, and this one is no different. This book was broken down into two parts, before and after the wedding.

Miller is heading to Cancun to attend his sister's wedding and luckily for him Claire is heading there for a vacation with her girlfriends to celebrate her birthday, because his plus one cancels on him and he does NOT want to show up dateless, well you know how moms are when you hit a certain age "When are you going to find a nice girl and get married?", "oh I have the perfect girl for you" all of which Miller does not want to deal with.

Claire doesn't like her bosses boss very much as a matter of fact she has a few choice names for him, anyway, when he asks her to be his plus one she immediately declines, but of course you know he is going to convince her. But what you don't know and they don't know is what happens next an OH BOY!!!! Things are hot and heavy between the two, that thin line between love and hate becomes thinner and thinner the more time they spend together, until......

Well, that is all you are getting out of me because I am not spoiling anything. This was a fun read that was very hot. Miller melted my heart in the second part of the book, Claire was a strong female character that knew what she wanted and she wasn't going to let anyone push her around, I loved that about her.

If you enjoy contemporary romances, office romances, or the enemies to lovers trope I urge you to grab a copy of this book. Happy Reading!!!

Vacation Fling, Fake Girlfriend, Workplace Romance, Enemies to Lovers – Claudia Burgoa blends multiple tropes and I love how she did it. Something Like Hate has humor, steamy sex, a moderate amount of angst, and a whole lot of heart. It is a wonderful story of two people who meet and fall in love before either knows how to balance love with ambition, competitiveness, and sacrifice. When a mistake is made, it leads one to feel betrayed, decisions are made that cost the couple dearly. There is a fine line between love and hate and when one crosses that line, they may get where they wanted to be but who can they really trust when they get there and who will they share their success with? Can mistakes be forgiven? Can amends be made? Can trust lost be earned again? This is a spoiler free review, so you will have to read the book to find out!

This one had my emotions all over the place. I loved the characters, then I hated them, then I tolerated them and then I loved them again. I laughed, I raged, I will never admit to having any tears in my eyes. There were so many different feels and I couldn’t put the book down because I had to know which feeling was going to come next. Okay, okay. So, my breathing was a bit erratic and some extra moisture briefly accumulated in my eyes.

Something Like Hate isn’t an ugly cry book but you would have to be heartless to not experience some mild to moderate heartache for one or both of the characters. Since I said that, I will provide a lifeline to those sensitive to cheating (me, me, me). While there is betrayal and some real d-bag mistakes, there is absolutely no cheating in this book.

Claire and Miller own this book. It is their story, and unlike anything you have ever read before. It is many stories in one, just like life really is. It is many tropes, you can't classify it! It starts out Arrogant Boss/Invisible Employee, then Fake Girlfriend to Lovers, Friends to Enemies, Unrequited Love, Enemies to Lovers. As stated in the book, there is a fine line between hate and love. Both are very passionate and one mistake can trip you over the line from love to hate but many acts of love can bring you back over the line to love.

Claire is such a strong, smart, feisty woman! I adored her (as did Miller!). And Miller, he had my heart in Cancun. When he made that one mistake he regretted his whole life, I was so mad at him but what made me madder was not even listening to Claire and hearing her out. Men!

The angst in this book, well, I love angsty books, but it gets me riled up. I get fully vested in my characters. Claire's family was precious, yes, even Lucifer, I mean Lucas. And Miller's family was so sweet. I was both amazed and impressed at the lengths he went to to fabricate their romance. My heart melted at that and the fact that they both remained true to each other.

This is just a fantastic book, it has all the feels and does indeed have a HEA. Another best seller to add to her list and to yours!

5 Star Review of Something Like Hate by Claudia Y Burgoa

I have only read a couple of books by Claudia Burgoa. Each book has been well written with characters that I could easily relate to and this book was no exception. I was hooked from the first to the last chapter.

Claire is feisty, determined, strong and has no problem standing up for herself or those she believes in. Miller is definitely an alpha male who is equally as strong and arrogant at times.

Something Like Hate is spicy, humorous, a little angsty and at times frustrating. Feelings will be hurt and a betrayal will leave you reeling. Will the sacrifices made be worth it? Or can the trust which was broken be re built?

I really loved Miller and Claire, both separately and together, they really do make a great couple. The question is will they get their happily ever after?

One click and find out.

3.75⭐️

To give a bit of context, Claire and Miller work at the same company, where he is the CEO and she is one of the best employees.
He then has to find a date to his sister’s wedding and just so happens to run into her at the airport because they’re taking the same flight.
They don’t really appreciate one another. She thinks he is this arrogant boss with no regard whatsoever for his employees.
And he just knows her as a worker because they don’t usually interact much.

On to my opinion:
I thought the pacing was kind of weird when I was reading it. Being sent 2 years into the futur, not knowing what was going on and all that. But looking back on it, I think I liked it.
We got to know the main characters as a fake couple, on vacation, away from work. At the time they got to know each other and they started falling in love.

The second part takes place 2 years later.
I won’t say much to not spoil anything but it focused more on the job/companies and careers, and obviously their “relationship”.

In both parts, I both liked and disliked some aspects of their relationship dynamic. Especially in the first part, I thought they were falling so so soo fast for each other and that genuinely threw me off. But then what do I know about that lol

And I also loved that Claire didn’t have to give up her career, just to bE wiTh tHe mAn sHe LoVeD and all that jazz. She was a strong MC and stayed true to herself, her beliefs and wants. For that, we love her
Also, I feel like this is truly inspiring to see her stay focused on her carrier
This sounds so cringey to say but I swear this is truly inspiring me lol

Other than that, I loved that Miller loves her this much. But again something felt weird, especially when they were reconnecting.
It happens in books sometimes: this is when the guy is just obsessed with the woman’s body to a point where he’s just talking about how he wants to f*ck her, how her ass is perfect blah blah blah and I was honestly over it. I just wanted him to say he missed her, wanted to hold her close, see her smile and hear her beautiful laugh again lol

So I’ve been debating between a 4 stars or lower but settled for a 3.75

Alright, Alrighty Then! Claudia knew what to write to pull on my heartstrings. This book was above all else so compassionate and loving. It exposed 2 very different people who didn't believe necessarily in Love and Marriage. Yet, these two were Explosive in their connection and were drawn to each other with their souls.

Finding love is hard. Not looking for it can be confusing. However, Miller found Claire after one weekend of family obligation and couldn't let her go even if he did the unthinkable. Claire was just the opposite. She knew love existed, yet her own experiences led her to making her career a priority. Miller Archer changes everything on 4 days and years later he makes his choices known even with a shady history. These two could only do one thing. And that one thing might hurt them both. Trust is the defining factor in this beautiful love story of pain and promise.

Oooooo this story is vengeance at it's finest! A thin line between love and hate indeed!

Something Like Hate is the story of Miller and Claire.  A chance circumstance brings these coworkers together and it also tears them apart.

The angst is off the charts! I kept turning pages wanting to see what happens.

Claire is a fantastic heroine.  She is fierce, she is independent, and she is also fantastic in her career.  I loved her strength after everything that had happened to her and what she accomplished.  Her need for vengeance is strong, but also tempered with the fact of her feelings for Miller.

Oh Miller, what a hero.  He is so wrapped up in his career and nothing will distract from that.  Until the chemistry between Miller and Claire heat up the pages! He realizes the colossal mistake he made and bides his time until he can make things right again.

I loved the secondary characters, both Claire and Miller's families bring so much more to the story!

I am so glad I was introduced and have the chance to read Ms. Burgoa's stories!! You can't go wrong!  Get your hands on this standalone book!

Wow! This felt like two stories in one. As soon as I broke the binding on this book, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Claire is exactly how I like my heroines. She is feisty, stands up for herself, takes no bull, and has a heart of gold. With such a strong female character, this book was a delight to devour. Miller Archer makes the perfect guy. He’s the guy you love…to hate. He is an alpha male, takes no prisoners, bulldozer of a guy. At the same time, you can see his façade crack and a heartbreaker emerge. Not only do you get two strong characters, but you get to travel to Cancun, New York City, Denver and maybe even London. The chemistry will burn the pages up and just as you think you’ll combust you shiver with the drastic change in temperature. From there you gradually warm up until you’re ignited again. At the end of the book, you will be fanning yourself and have a perma-grin on your face! I highly recommend this book to those who love an unputdownable book from beginning to end.

Something Like Hate by Claudia Burgoa is a standalone romance novel.
Meet Claire and Miller.
Claire is a talented employee, one of the best in the company. If only her boss wasn't such a difficult man to work with.
Miller Archer is the company's CEO , happily single and wants to stay that way. When his hand is forced he convinces Claire to be his fake girlfriend and their weekend together ends in disaster. Fast forward. After they have a major fallout, Claire quit and started over. New company, new city, new job. But years later she's back and Miller who never forgot her, hopes to get a second chance.
Something Like Hate is a complex story. A slow burn that fits perfect, a beautiful enemies to lovers romance that had me intrigued from chapter one. Something Like Hate is a nailbiting, unputdownble rom/com of it's finest and I recommend this highly entertaining book. 5 Stars.

When Miller needs a fake girlfriend to be his plus one at his sister's wedding, he bargains with his employee Claire to fill the role. But what was supposed to be for appearances only goes beyond what either one of them expected with a true relationship blooming. Until everything crashes.

I liked seeing Miller and Claire interacting with friends and family, it really added to the story. And the long road from Cancun to the end of the story kept me riveted, wondering how they would get to their HEA.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Clarice and Hannibal OR Han Solo and The Princess~

When Miller asks his employee, Claire to be his plus one for his sister's wedding, he has no idea what he's getting into. These two cracked me up throughout the book. Their banter is hysterical and the nicknames depict the mood they are presently in. I love how they fight, make up and take life by the horns.

Oh, Claire and Miller... My heart.

I knew going into this that it would be something special... and I was not proven wrong. Claudia Burgoa knows how to write a romance with a punch and this one had that punch.

This book holds everything I love. A feisty, fiery heroine and an alpha male. I was in heaven
Claire was a fireball that was not afraid to be herself, to stand up for herself, and for those that are close to her. She strong-willed, and will fight for what she believes in. I loved everything about this character.

Miller is an alpha CEO, dominant, arrogant and when he wants something, he gets it. He is everything I love in a male lead. EVERYTHING. So. damn. hot. And I was a fan right from the beginning. Like, can he be my boss, please??

He doesn't want a relationship. He loves the single life. He is in his prime but when forced to ask Claire to be his fake girlfriend, things changed and what starts out as anything but love, slowly grows, to insanely hot sex, lust, passion and then love, with twists and turns along the way. These two were hot as hell. Like kindle melting HOT! I devoured this,... Twice. I couldn't get enough.

This book held so much. It was an Office Romance/Enemies to Lovers/Rom-com and more. It had it all. I laughed, I sighed happily, and it kept me on my toes packed with hate, lust, passion, romance, heat, angst, and one hell of a HEA... It ticked all the right boxes in my opinion and will be a book I will be going back to read again, and probably again.

I LOVED IT

Claudia's writing style was on point and she made it easy to fall head over heels for these two characters. I devoured this book with ease.

THIS IS A MUST READ. No bullshit. READ IT!

5 spicy hot stars!

Claudia Burgoa has delivered another incredible, hilarious and exceptionally written romantic comedy. Something Like Hate gave me everything I wanted and so much more. It’s a creative blend of humor and steamy sexy times with just a touch of angst.

Miller and Claire were so easy to fall in love with and I just couldn’t get enough of these two. They were well developed characters which I became completely invested in and loved every moment of their story. Their fake relationship/enemies to lovers trope was executed wonderfully. And with their sizzling chemistry and sexual innuendos, I just knew these two were going to heat up the bedroom. Trust me when I say, Miller and Claire were down right explosive together and seriously burned up the sheets!!!

Claire was my spirit animal with her sassy, smart mouth and fierce personality. I truly loved her character from beginning to end. I mean as soon as I read her nicknames for Miller and what she thought of him in the beginning had me laughing out loud!! And Miller, with his charming demeanor and the hero you love to hate at times, still managed to capture my heart. He was full of witty banter and certainly gave Claire (of course he had nicknames for her too) as much as he got. Although they made each other crazy sometimes and their relationship certainly wasn’t easy (cue the angst), Ms. Burgoa did a very good job of demonstrating without a doubt, that these two were meant to be together.

Something Like Hate was delightful, sweet and sexy in all the right places. This book is exactly what I needed to put a huge smile on my face and to make my heart happy. It’s a definite one-click worthy, five star read!!

Something Like Hate by Claudia Burgoa is a emotional , unique, erotic experience that will have you rooting for Miller and Claire. This office romance/ enemies to lovers romance read will touch your heart and your soul. It's full of feels, steam and romance. I couldn't get enough of the story! Whirlwind romance, passion, drama, angst, broken hearts , sad tears, big hopes, forgiveness? True love ... can their love end up in an HEA? I enjoyed the twists and turns that this story took me to. I didn't expect to be hooked so fast or to be so sad when Miller and Claire's story ended. What a beautiful romance!! As always, Ms. Burgoa writes emotions that translate into a phenomenal story.

4.5* Feisty Stars

I got introduced to Miller and Claire when their novella was part of an Anthology. I loved their short story and hoped Claudia would bring us more about these two feisty love birds because they certainly had a story to tell. When my ARC arrived, I was beyond excited to be reunited with them.

This is a slow enemies to lovers romance that was heartfelt and real. Miller and Claire are so easy to fall in love with, their chemistry palpable and the banter between them witty. The secondary characters were a great addition the story and they were very lovable and fun.

I highly recommend this wonderful good feel read that will leaving you satisfied and smiling.

Many thanks to Claudia for my copy to read and review.

Something Like Hate by Claudia Y. Burgoa is a sweet and funny yet steamy rom-com. Miller owns a company and Claire works indirectly for him. Not surprisingly, limited office interactions between them have led to some preconceived ideas. A chance encounter at an airport leads Miller to request a favor from Claire. And wow, does that one decision change so many things for them both. A judgement call by Miller develops into unintended consequences that don't seem to be recoverable. Miller has a saying "Failure is not an option". Fortunately, his determination will eventually serve him well. Love the humor in the story as well as Miller's interactions with his family. This book is a perfect blend of angst sprinkled with humor and heat.

Something Like Hate had so many of my go tropes in one book that I swear it was written for me. (It wasn't really) This story is a office romance, pretend girlfriend, love/hate, second chance and so much more. I enjoyed every word written, even the angsty stuff. Claire and Miller were awesome, their banter made me laugh, and there were times I wanted to scream, Miller do you know why? Whether they were in the bedroom or out, they were so passionate, and I simply adored them.
If you like a fast paced, light hearted, fake relationship, then this is a book for you!

Claire and Miller’s story is one of my favorites by Claudia and one I will NEVER forget! I loved their journey even though it broke me at times it was the hope their loved held that kept me completely absorbed in the book!

Claire and Miller definitely didn’t start out like you would think and they ended even faster than I wanted because life doesn’t always go as planned! But fate never fails if they can only listen to their hearts!

Something Like Hate by Claudia Burgoa is the extended full length story from The Accidental Hookup novella. The full length novel is a doozy of a story. It steps over the line for any Human Resources Department, oversteps employer/employee relationships, business protocol, and redefines friendly professional competition in a cut throat market.

Miller is forced to attend his sister’s destination wedding in Cancun. He doesn’t have time for the wedding let alone all of his family nonsense even though he loves them dearly. His mother is trying to set him up with the bridesmaids so he tells a little white lie and says he is bringing a plus one. Now he needs to find a date for the weekend. He gets his best friend to line one up for a price. At the last minute she backs out. He’s at the airport without a date and the plane for Cancun will be boarding soon. When he spots Claire, his superstar employee from the media advertising department, he devises a plan. He is going to make Claire his plus one.

Claire is finally taking her much needed vacation that “almost” didn’t happen because of her greedy bosses. Now her one of her bosses is trying to bribe her to be his weekend girlfriend at a wedding. At first she wants nothing to do with him until she realizes this is an opportunity to get more vacation time and an all expenses paid trip to Tuscany.

What starts out as a business transaction turns into a fun vacation hookup for both of them. Miller decides to spend the week with Claire in Cancun. Paradise doesn’t last forever and business butts it’s ugly head. Miller leaves Cancun and Claire without an explanation.

Claire is not only embarrassed and humiliated but she’s also mad. Her exotic beach vacation was ruined by her boss. She’s dreading returning to work but never imagined how bad it would be. While she was away on vacation she lost her account, her promotion, her job, and Miller. Nothing can fix this kind of humiliation and heartbreak.

What happens next is more than Miller doing a little groveling, it will take years for him to gain her forgiveness.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book because love wasn’t easy. Claire and Miller both had to work really hard for their professional lives and love lives. They had to learn things the hard way in order to fully appreciate their feelings for one another. There is a thin line between love and hate. Which side will they end up on? Read the book!

I fell in Love with Miller and Claire when they first appeared in the vacation anthology collection, Spring Fling. I am so, so happy that Burgoa gave us more of their fun, and steamy, forbidden/second chance romance!
Claire Solis is hardworking and extremely talented at creating social media campaigns. She is about to embark on a vacation with her friends when she happens to run into the very demanding and sexy CEO of her company on her flight. Miller is on his way to his sisters wedding at the same tropical location. He is desperate to convince the very beautiful Claire to help him avoid his mothers matchmaking. Claire is determined to enjoy her vacation. When Claire gives in to help Miller for the weekend, she never expected to have fun with the surprisingly kind, loving, and swoony man who put her before everything. Miller knew Claire was smart, but he was seduced by how in tune and protective she was with him. When they agree to a casual, no strings weekend, neither wanted it to end. But when work gets in the way and unexpected and shocking events happen, they are torn apart, breaking both their hearts. Years later, they meet again under very different conditions. Miller was a changed man thanks to Claire, and now he needed to break down her walls, to earn her forgiveness and trust. He is determined to prove to her that they are meant to be together, forever. Burgoa took Miller and Claire on a very unexpected journey that was so engaging, fun, and sexy. I loved Claire's strength, and sass, and Miller was so kind, patient, and swoony, and their chemistry leaped right off the page! I really loved their family who were all so loving, and supportive, and added some of the most hilarious moments! This is a wonderful, witty, steamy story that will keep you turning the pages and capture your heart. I loved everything about this heartfelt, charming and sexy romance!
