Haunted Healthcare #2

Haunted Healthcare 2: Medical Professionals and Patients Share Their Encounters with the Paranormal

Rate this book
Death comes in many forms, and medical professionals have seen them all. The first pair of hands to hold us when we enter this world, and the last to comfort us when we leave it, usually belong to a member of the healing profession. Where one finds death and drama, one also finds ghosts. Small wonder that doctors, nurses, paramedics, and the patients that they treat, regularly encounter the spirits of the departed. Sometimes those spirits are friendly. But not always... Join Richard Estep, paramedic, paranormal investigator, and cast member of TV’s “Haunted Case Files,” “Haunted Hospitals,” and “Paranormal 911,” as he uncovers the true-life hauntings of nursing homes, hospitals, and other places of healing. Welcome to the world of Haunted Healthcare...

I'm a 48-year-old child who has no plans to ever actually grow up.

I make my living as a paramedic, clinical educator, for a busy hospital system and work as a street medic in a 911 system.

In my free time, I serve as the director of the Boulder County Paranormal Research Society, and investigate claims of haunted properties, people, and objects on both sides of the Atlantic. I love to read, particularly SF/Fantasy, history and historical fiction, the paranormal, and basically anything that piques my interest. I appear on the TV shows Haunted Hospitals, Paranormal 911, Paranormal Night Shift, Haunted Case Files, and several others.

I am an avid video gamer, table-top gamer, and love to build Lego. My wife and I are the proud humans of five adopted rescue cats and one smelly but adorable dog.

Good read after a handful of DNFs and than having migraine for four days and not in the mood to read.

*read for free with kindle unlimited*

More interesting stories though I do wish there was more people telling than the ones we got. I enjoyed reading the tales, don't get me wrong. Just wasn't as hooked on this as the first book. A couple of times I was tempted to skip ahead to see how much more of one person's section was left.

I wouldn't mind going to Asylum 49 and checking it out though (and when I read a certain ghost hunter got pushed after antagonizing a spirit.. I wasn't surprised. What made him think that was a good idea to apporach this spirit like this after the life the guy had in there *shakes head* Lucky he wasn't more hurt, idiot).

Would still recommend this one, plenty here to keep the pages turning.

Side note: Kindle version is 201 pages on here not 130.

As a former CNA and Emergency Responder, I can tell you stories. Growing up in a haunted house and then being on a paranormal investigation team, I can tell you these stories are eerily familiar with what I've seen and the stories others have told me. This is a great second compilation of medical haunted stories.

This was a nice follow up to the first book. I really loved the chapter on Asylum 49 and hope to read that book about the stay there soon. I think this book could have been a five star but I got a bit tired of hearing all the stories Glynis had. Yes, i was still nice to hear stories but I don't know surely other people besides her had some to share as well.

I loved this book as much as the first one. So good. I also gave this book four stars. Richard Estep is a amazing storyteller with writing these stories from real nurses, firefighters, EMTs, and care workers. Can't wait to read more by this author. I liked these books more than I thought I would. I'm glad I read them. Amazing.

More tales of encounters of Haunted Healthcare

I like the simple style of the writer "talking" to you about the experiences he and others have had.
Believe or not, your opinion won't matter. These people believe what happened and honestly, so do I.

This is volume 2 of the Haunted Healthcare series from the wonderful author Richard Estep. I find that Richard's work is very easy to read. I read this book in one sitting and I really enjoyed it. His books differ from others because he relates the stories with loving care. His background is in paramedic and EMT work, and he is knowledgeable and considerate of the people working in healthcare. They in turn are comfortable sharing their stories with him and he relates the tales in a respectful manner. I personally loved the stories that featured the Grey Lady. He is articulate, knowledgeable and considerate. These stories may creep you out, but many have happy endings. I read this book using immersion reading while listening to the audio book. Narrator Jack Clancy has a perfect storytelling voice and it shows. Hauntings are based on the life lived, some are sad and others are frightening, but the human element is a major focus. A wonderful follow up to the first book.

I also read a story about a health care professional who worked in a place where when people were close to dying the elevators in the building would go all wonky. With that in mind I work in a hospital and I was taking an elevator to the basement. When it was time to go to another floor I closed the doors and all of a sudden they opened again with no one in sight getting on. If that wasn’t enough my radio blared static right after. That was enough creepiness for me.

Richard is back with more stories based off the topic of haunted healthcare. He writes these amazing books on topics that many wish not to pursue but have become so fascinated with because the evidence is there and it is really here with us. People see things all of the time and believe it is their minds playing tricks on them. That's why I appreciate writers like Richard who is interested in hearing what you saw because he believes in this stuff, experiencing it first hand himself by being a paranormal investigator. He's a talented writer and with the second book I felt more passion coming off of Richard and his writing, he had already mastered the first one and now it was time to keep going with great stories and a lot of confidence in his abilities as a writer. He shares the stories of others experiences and you can truly see the image in your head of where Richard is taking you as a writer and what happened to these people who had paranormal experiences in hospitals.
Richards is a very educated writer and someone with tons of information based on many different topics, and I can't wait to read more by him in the future. Thank you Richard for such great books to delve into, and validate that things do happen in hospitals!
I hope everyone goes out and buys a copy of this book and the first one!
Enjoy everyone! =)

Touching Follow up to the First Book

His background is in paramedic and EMT work, and he is knowledgeable and considerate of the people working in healthcare. Hospitals and healthcare facilities are the focus of a show on Travel Channel that the author is often featured in. He is articulate, knowledgeable and considerate. Excellent Read

As usual the author never let's me down. I was able to finish this book within 2 days and I'm sad to say it's over. I love reading experiences from people who work in the medical field, to know that they really do experience this stuff and aren't afraid to share let's me know that anything I have experienced is real too! I really hope there is a 3rd installment of this book. I would love more stories!

Eh?

It was just kinda dragging and boring. I was reading it aloud to my Husband while he gets his steps and cooks (it’s just a fun thing we do back and forth for each other) and I kept trailing off and nearly falling asleep! The stories didn’t impact me in any way, and all in all it’s just an easily forgettable snooze fest. The first book had a lot of heart, this one though... didn’t really have anything.

I enjoy this author a great deal. He takes care to lay out exactly what happened with an open and analytical mind. Mostly, though, I enjoyed the humanity with which the stories were told. The potential ghosts and their stories were treated with respect. The people who encountered them were treated with respect. I was happy to hear this author has not one but two television shows. I'm enjoying them too!

Spooky, yet realistic stories of the paranormal.

I really enjoy reading Richard Estep's books and stories.
He has sympathy for medical professionals, as well as any spirits or ghosts that may have been left behind.
He also has a rational approach. I can't imagine him saying "Show yourself", and then, when there's a small knock fifty feet away, him screaming and running away like every single ghost hunter on TV!

So, keep up the good work, Richard, and thank you!

Enjoyed

I have read his previous books and have found them to be easy light reading. Each story has good detail without being wordy. This book is easy to read at night as you are in bed for the night or somewhere noisy where you need to tune people out. I can't wait for the next one.

Enjoyable

This isn't a book that will scare you once again I found this book to be informative and interesting. I plan to read other books by this author because of how he told the stories. They way they were written was to give a person an understanding about the paranormal and not frighten you.

Interesting and Slightly Creepy

I work in a newer hospital, but I started in an older one before the move. The stories he writes about are believable for the most part and I like how he will reference other ghost hunters. This particular book focused more on a friend, but did involve others. Something nice to read for fun chills and around Halloween.

In this second installment of Haunted Healthcare, medical professionals share even more stories of their brush with the paranormal. Several of the chapters revolve around a single person, who has multiple encounters, some in the same building, but others in various places.

Interesting read overall.

Intriguing!

As a fellow paramedic and paranormal enthusiast, it is a great for me to join Richard as he shares these stories. Fascinating to think of the line healthcare providers walk which allows us to bridge the veil between worlds. Great read!

Asylum 49 will always be haunted

I've seen so many investigations on tv about this place. I thought it was just lousy acting. Mr. Estep made it a little more real to me. I very much enjoyed all the stories
