This was a quick read that was tender sweet with delicate hits of delectable steamy bits, sigh, it was a welcome treat between the taut thrillers and murder mysteries I’ve been dabbling in of late. I have feasted on each of the three books in this delightful and entertaining series and have my fingers crossed that Ms. Elks will continue the series by writing books for each unique small-town citizen residing in this out of the way beach town. The storylines are engaging and easy to follow while the characters are admirable and worth knowing, highly likable, and hardworking. I want to join them for their next gathering of wine, whine, and gossip.

Carrie Elks takes us back to Angel Sands for the second chance romance between single mom Brooke Newton and "brought up on the other side of the tracks" turned success story, Aiden Black. I've loved getting to know this little group of woman and Brook is the last of the Angel Sands trio to get her story. She has a surprisingly edgier story with an interesting twist surrounding her son Nick. Seems that little miss socialite has her limits and like any good momma bear when push comes to shove, she's ready to stand on her own two feet.

Carrie Elks writing is always stellar. Her characters are so well developed and the characters arcs are always strong and cohesive. With Brooke, we've seen glimpses of her trying to take back her life. Born out of love, her parents provide her housing and childcare, but always seem to be strings attached, expectations. With the re-entrance of Aiden back into her life, she seems emboldened to break away from her all too controlling socialite parents.

Aidens's return to Angela Sands is a way of showing anyone who might care that he is a changed man. He was young and driven when he left, but he's still weighed down by his families history in the town. He, Brooke and her son Nick have great natural energy and connection to each other, but Brooke has a pretty massive secret that will shake up everything in her life. I loved how this played out as this secret is a doozy. Aiden is very protective of both of them and will be tested by his desire to shield them. There is no way but up for this family.

If you are looking for a series to binge read while enjoying the beach or your final summer vacation, Angel Sands series is the answer. there's just the right amount of angst, redemption, and romance. 5 Star book and series recommendation.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

Sometimes you start a book, thinking that you know what the story will be about. But then the story surprises you in such a way, that it leaves you unbalanced and curious for the rest of the story. And that’s what ‘Sweet little lies’ did to me and as a reader I couldn’t have been more happy about it!

I don’t want to give away too much of the story, but I can tell you that it’s indeed a second chance story. I love those. I liked how the story was told, how slowly you get little bits of Brooke and Aiden’s past. So you can understand why they broke up and what happened afterwards. The story was writing fluently, very easy to read but it also had his emotional moments. It’s told from both POV’s.

I liked both main characters very much. Brooke is strong in her own, gentle way and Aiden… well, Aiden is a bit more intense but also strong and protective of the people that he loves. They are both very caring people with a lot of love to give.

If you have read the other two previous books of this series, you will recognize characters of those stories. One of the things that I loved about the ’Angel Sands’ series is that the stories aren’t only romances stories but that an another great part of them, also goes about friendship. Especially the friendship between the three women Brooke, Ember and Ally. And it was wonderful to see how they supported each other throughout the series.

‘Sweet little lies’ is a perfect summer read and you don’t have to read the previous books to read this one.

Pov: male & female

Major Characters: Aiden & Brooke

Minor characters: Nick (her son), Jeremy (his brother/ Nick’s dad)

My thoughts:

This series is like a lifetime movie. A good lifetime movie, but still a lifetime movie. Everything is a little surface level. Jeremy comes in and out within a few pages. Her parents controlled her life but she was fine with thin within paragraphs.

I like the stories, but I wanted more. That’s my own issue. If I look past that and take the story for what it is, it’s a pretty good story. I like the way the friends are all interconnected.

Summary:

Aiden and Brooke grew up in Angel Sands. Brooke was from a wealthy family and was an only child. Aiden was the youngest of 2 brothers. His parents split up when he was young and his mom took a job as a maid in Brookes house.

Aidens family was extremely poor and lived in the bad part of town. He saw how hard his mom worked and was determined to achieve great things.

Jeremy got involved with drugs and crime.

Aiden met Brooke and they fell in love almost instantly. They snuck around for months because they knew her parents wouldn’t approve.

Her parents were very controlling. She was expected to follow in her dads footsteps and work for his pharmaceutical chain. She didn’t want that.

One day they went out to their spot at the beach caves and finally had sex. It was life changing. Her dad happened to drive by and notice her car in the parking lot. He ended up finding them together and was furious.

Her dad fired his mom and went to Aiden and told him they needed to leave town or else he’d tell everyone his mom stole from them. Aiden knew no one would believe him so the family moved. Jeremy had already been getting in trouble with the law so it wasn’t too hard to convince his mom.

Her dad told her Aidens mom got a job offer that was too good to pass up so they moved. She was hurt but thought she and Aiden could still be together. Aiden never contacted her again. She was devastated.

Aidens family struggled in their new town. His mom had a hard time finding work because she had no references.

2 years later, when she was just out of high school, Jeremy came back to town. She went to him looking for Aiden. Jeremy told her Aiden had moved in and was with someone else. She was devastated. Jeremy gave her drugs and alcohol and she was so depressed they slept together. 6 months later she finds out she’s pregnant.

She dropped out of college and had the baby. Her parents demanded to know whose it was but she wouldn’t say. The town turned its back on her. She had Nick and they moved into her parents guest house.

Eventually she goes back to school to become a vet tech. She’s struggling financially, and reluctantly relies on her parents for help.they provide her cheap rent and insurance for Nick.

She’s about a semester away from graduation and has a job lined up when she gets called to a construction site for a loose dog and sees Aiden.

Aiden got a job at a construction company. The boss liked him and he eventually moved his way up to second in command.

Jeremy got arrested he sent to jail. Their mom was devastated.

Their mom got sick and passed away. Aiden was devastated. He starts to realize he’s truly alone.

His company buys the abandoned resort in Angel Sands and his boss asks him to lead the project. His boss knows all about his history in Angel Sands. He accepts the task.

One day they find an abandoned dog and call the local vet. Brooke shows up. He’s shocked to see her.

One of Aidens crew is from Angel Sands and knows all of Brookes guy friends. He gets invited to a barbecue and brings Aiden. Brooke finds out Aiden will be there and knows someone will mention Nick. She knows she has to tell him.

Aiden meets Nick at the party. Brooke explains he’s her son. Aiden is shocked she has a kid.

A few days later she goes to his job and explains Nick is his nephew. He realizes she slept with his brother and is furious. He doesn’t want to hear her explanations.

She leaves and feels awful.

He feels jealous and awful for hurting her. He realizes his mom would have wanted to know her grandson. That she would have been thrilled. That he and Brooke weren’t together anymore anyway.

He apologizes and asks to get to know Nick.

They start spending tons of time together so he can get to know Nick. Nick loves it. They quickly fall for each other again.

She explains what happened with Jeremy. How she was looking for news on Aiden. That Jeremy said Aiden had moved on and she was devastated.

He tells her how her dad ran his family out of town. She’s shocked. She confronts her dad and finds out it’s true. She’s so angry she moves out of the guest house earlier than planned.

She and Aiden admit they’re in love with each other. He finds out Jeremy will be out of jail soon and could come to Angel Sands looking for him for money, and could find out about Nick.

He hires a PI and offers Jeremy a lump sum of money to keep away.

There’s a big fundraiser her parents run for her animal shelter. They all go and Jeremy shows up. Jeremy tells everyone he’s the father, and that Aiden tried to bribe him. She’s hurt Aiden made decisions about her life without her input.

She runs off. Her friends find her and tell her Nick is in the hospital, that he had an allergic reaction. Everyone rushes over, including Aiden.

She realizes Jeremy isn’t important. That Aiden was just trying to help her. Aiden apologizes and she forgives him.

They end up together. He gets Jeremy to sign away his parental rights and plans to adopt Nick.

"Sweet Little Lies" is an ARC provided by the author for an exchange honest review.

Carrie Elks is one of my favorite authors in the novel category. She can capture our heart and soul in every story she writes. I love her fluid writing, because she can take us to Angel Sands.
"Sweet Little Lies" is the third story she has written for her new series Angel Sands. What a fantastic story she has created for these two characters.

When I started reading this book I felt my heart gradually being stolen by Aiden. I loved his personality as a man, it's not easy to be torn from where we grew up and where we have the love of our life because of our social status. He suffered but succeeded in life and proved that his new status didn't change him. He never forgot the love of his life stayed in Angel Sands when he was expelled.
Returning to Angel Sands is reliving the past. Can he put all the hurts Newton family caused aside?

Brooke is the woman full of strength. A single mother, a student and still volunteer in the kennel.
Brooke is what all single moms are. A woman who struggles every day to give the best of her to her child and at the same time achieve her dreams and be a veterinary technician.
Happy for making her dreams come true and having the best child. She have the best life in the world. She hope one day she can find love, like her friends did.
What if the love of her life return to Angel Sands? What will she does when she sees him?

A story full of surprises throughout each chapter that makes us daydream about the beaches of Angel Sands and Aiden. This man capture my soul.
If you haven't read the Angel Sands series, you don't know what you are missing?

5 Tear-Jerking, Heart-Breaking Stars!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

When the boy Brooke has spent the last ten years aching for, returns to Angel Sands, now a strong, sexy man, she realises her secret will have to come to light, only she hadn’t banked on her past and future colliding with its own revelations. Will Brooke and Aiden fight for the future they deserve, or will it be over before it began?

I had been eagerly awaiting Brooke’s story from Carrie Elks’ Angel Sands Series, what I hadn’t expected was a tear-Jerking story that would break my heart and tear apart one of my favourite characters. Carrie Elks has delivered another excellent story that you will not want to put down.

The revelations this story revealed broke my heart for both Brooke and Aiden. I soon grew attached to Aiden and could easily see why Brooke felt for him the way she did. I wanted to hug them both, I wanted to turn back the clocks, and undo the decisions made, however, as with life, that is impossible.

Brooke was an amazing mother, amazing friend; she fought hard for what she wanted for both herself and her son, to give them a happy, contented life.

Aiden had turned his life around, he had shown those from his past that he wasn’t the label they had given him, he was ten times the person any of them would ever be.

What was truly beautiful about this story was how love won. They had it all stacked against them; however, their love was what kept them fighting for what they wanted and deserved.

The Angel Sands series is for all Contemporary Romance lovers, you won’t be disappointed.

Having read quite a few books by this author, I have now come to expect a certain standard and style of writing from Carrie Elks, she writes such amazing stories that toy with your emotions and gives you such a deeply loving romance story between her characters that will warm your heart. Sweet Little Lies absolutely blew all of my normal expectations out of the water.
This book was so full of secrets and surprises that it left me aghast, as a second chance romance Aiden and Brooke are two wonderful characters who are socially poles apart that after ten years find each other again for their situations to have somewhat changed. Once they both realise what went wrong for them all those years ago all the heartache and emotions they go through all becomes clear.
Just when I thought I knew how the story would playout for Aiden and Brooke, there was a plot twist, then another turn, until they reached a totally unexpected turning point in the direction of how their path to their HEA was leading them.
This story absolutely got to me and had me in tears, I found that I couldn't not feel all the hurt and emotions that Brooke goes through to get her man and protect all that she loved. Such excellent storytelling that sucked me in right for the start. Sweet Little Lies is now my favorite book in the Angel Sands series.

Ahhh it was so good to be back in Angel Sands.. and this story from the wonderful Carrie Elks brings you bucketfuls of sweet tender love! Everything I read from Carrie has me wanting to up and move to that place and become best friends with the characters! She keeps it real while taking you on a fantasy filled with hope.

Brooke has been controlled by her parents pretty much all her life, but little did she know just how controlling they'd been. This story brings lies and heartache along the way, but sweet sexy love in its wake.. just like the tide on the beautiful Angel Sands.

A few twists that I wasnt expecting kept me on my toes and kept the story from being cliche!!

Another fantastic read from a very talented author !!

A single mom determined to be independent reunites with the man she loved who left her over a decade ago.

Brooke comes from a family that is well to do in their small beach town. When Brooke became pregnant as a teen, her parents set her up in a small house on their property. Now, her son is eight and Brooke is about to take a step toward financial independence from her parents by getting a Veterinarian degree. Everything in her life is about to change for the better when she sees the guy she loved, Aiden, she loved as a teen after he left her without saying goodbye.

Aiden has returned to his home town after making a name for himself in the construction of luxury hotels. His new challenge is to reopen an old hotel that has fallen in disrepair. Knowing he might see Brooke, the girl he left behind, is even more incentive.

Brooke and Aiden are both full of emotions seeing each other again. Secrets and lies lurk between them as they try to find a way back to meaning something to each other again. Strong feelings and connection were never their problem, but the lies they keep could threaten a future between them before it has even begun.

Trope: Dual POV, unrequited love, second chance at first love, Single parent.

This is a sweet story with a twist in the storyline I did not see coming. No spoilers. These two fell in love as teens and never really fell out of it despite time and separation. Cute love story. Good HEA and Epilogue.

Aiden and Brooke had a romance in the past, when they were still very young, but they couldn't move forward when other people interfered in their relationship.
Aiden was forced to leave, with his mother and brother.
Years later, he returns to the city, now a successful man, responsible for the renovation and construction of a resort in Angel Sands.

Brooke had her life changed when she found out she was pregnant.
Now, on the verge of finishing her veterinary studies, her volunteer work on the reserve that cares for animals, and raising her son, she is startled to discover that Aiden is back in town. Now, there was no way she could hide the big secret she'd been keeping for years any longer.

This second-chance romance between them has the expected outcome. However, what actually happened years ago is a surprise the author brought to us.

Carrie's stories are always very engaging and well told, but this secret itself, I didn't like.

If I had half stars, I would have rated this book 3,5, leaning towards 4. I really like the story, I don’t remember seeing this anywhere else before (or once or twice)

I still love the small beach town vibe of this series, the found family and the ‘soulmate’ couple we get to read about. Although I really think book 2 and 3 are similar… Obviously there’s some things that are different but because I read one after the other, I guess it really jumps to my eyes.

I didn’t really like Nick that much, in the other book I was under the impression he was younger and I don't know.. He wasn’t as present in the book as Riley (Nate’s daughter in the previous book). I really like when children are part of the story, especially when there are single parents in the story !

Anyway ! Good thing is that the spice is slowly getting heavier and heavier so maybe the next will be the perfect amount !

I love the trope ‘poor’ boy and ‘rich’ girl having a secret romance in their teens, parents mixing and destroying said relationship and them finding each other again later in life. Seriously I love it, and honestly this one was pretty great !

This is one of those reads where I wanted to scream at Aiden, "if you cared or loved Brooke so much why didn't you go back or contact her?" He knew she wasn't to blame for her father and mothers behaviour. Poor Brooke, she was such a fabulous mum, a complete tigeress protecting her cub. She gave him love, support, understanding and friends who were family. His conception posed worries for me, Jamie was the lowest of the low, his behaviour disgusting. Yes they had a tough start to life but his mum did the best she could for them, instead of wanting to be a better man than his dad he instead became just as low. Nick is such a delight, caring, loving, sensitive, well mannered and bright. This is a second chance romance, it has some angst, control issues and a whole lotta love. The romantic scenes are moving and beautiful. It's easy to read and a happy ending, well written and realistic, characters are mostly easy to love though a few I must admit I wanted to yell at. I read the 3 first books in this series as a boxset, I've loved getting to know the people and the area they live in, I definitely want to read the rest of the series. Emotional and fabulous read.

*I received an ARC for my honest review*

Aiden is a kid from “the wrong side of the tracks”.
Brooke is a girl from a well to do high class family.

It had been 10 years since they have seen each other. The last time they saw each other, they had been caught together by Brooke’s father. Brooke’s father then had Aiden and his family sent away.

Brooke is now a single mother with a BIG secret. Aiden is a big shot director of a luxury resort. Aiden is back in town to oversee construction of a new resort in Angel Sands. Since it is a small town, they keep running into each other and with no other choice, begin to interact with each other. She has a big secret that she has never told anyone but her 2 best friends.

After learning the full truth from Aiden about why he left, Brooke confronts her parents and her life then implodes. Things only get worse when her secret is told to her parents and basically the entire town!

Will Aiden & Brooke be able to put the pieces back together and move on with their life?

I am blown away by just how much family drama is contained in this one book. And, from opposites attract to secret baby to second chances, this story also covers a whole bunch of different themes. The author blends it all together so skillfully that you don’t really notice how much is happening until it’s all over. I loved Brooke. She’s a fierce mamma bear but she’s also prone to the same human frailties as the rest of us. Aiden left me wondering a lot of the time. He’s got a ginormous chip on his shoulder, but you can also clearly see how much he cares for the people who are important to him. Nick was utterly precious with the soul of an old man in his little-boy body. I really appreciated the time Brooke and Aiden took to get to know one another again and to accustom Nick to this new person in his orbit. However, when they make mistakes, they’re doozies. Like the books before this one, the ending is everything sweet and adorable. I’m looking forward to reading even more in Angel Sands.

So far I’ve like this one the best out of the girl group — you knew there was real conflict coming with Jamie and you knew it was brewing with Brooke’s parents.

However, Brooke was essentially barely legal when she was more or less assaulted by Jamie. Sure, she takes the blame of being inebriated but in the end, she was taken advantage of. Had it been me, I would have made sure my parents were very aware that I was seeking answers about the one brother they unjustly sent away and ended up with the other one. They would have known their secrets and lies had some culpability in how the pregnancy happened. I wouldn’t just leave it as if I had sex with two brothers and treated it like it was normal. I can’t say I liked her rolling over like that while she’s on a mission of growth and development.

This was perfect!! I thought it would be a normal plot, he came back, finds his childhood lover, she is a mum, he accepts it and boom, they are forever in love. But no! What an amazing plot twist. It made the story so much more interesting, and I was crazy reading it. Once again, and I can't get tired of mentioning it, the writing is top-notch. Get me glued to the pages like an addiction. The main characters are so strong as individuals as they are together. It was so good to see Brooke getting out of her cocoon, always strong-minded. And Aiden is one of my fav male characters from these series. It is just so attentive and caring.  They are such a cute couple. I love it when the book premise is hope, I don't know... they get to see each other again  after so long...this things talk close to my heart. Amazing book!

Brooke is a loving single mother, and determined student. Since her youthful passionate romance ended, with the emotional upheaval that resulted, she has endeavoured to be a dutiful daughter. Imagine the shock when she sees Aiden, the source of youthful heartbreak and regret. He had returned to town for a new business opportunity. The story takes of from there with drama, recriminations, revelations, emotion and more. I liked the development of Brooke's character as she found her voice, healing and reclaimed love with Aiden. In addition Aiden not only solidified his relationship with Brooke and her son, he found acceptance and friendship. I thoroughly enjoyed this second chance romance.

I purchased a copy of the novel Sweet Little Lies: A Small Town Second Chance Love Story With A Twist (Angel Sands Book 3) by Carrie Elks and this review was given freely.
A little twisted with a heartwarming ending. Separated by Brooke's society conscious manipulative parents because of Aiden's poor background and criminal brother, single Mom, animal shelter volunteer, and vet tech student Brooke Newton reunites nine years later with the man she always loved, her son Nick's uncle Aiden Black.

I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and the views expressed are my honest opinions.

It was a Monday, it was a wet day, but that was okay as I had this visit to Angel Sands planned for that afternoon.

I bumped into some old friends and met some new ones. Angel Sands is a wonderful place to visit. Full of supportive friends, workaholics that still manage to find time for love with the amazing people that Angel Sands manages to attract with it’s sunny, beachfront magnetism.

Third in the series, Sweet Little Lies certainly reveals truth at every turn, a journey of self discovery for our two central characters Brooke and Aiden, truths that had been buried for years are bought into the light. A journey of growth and maturity, past beliefs and assumptions are thrashed out and cleansed. Mistakes are made and admitted, conflicts are resolved with communication simply and quickly.

I thought this would be the last book in the Angel Sands series, but wait, there’s more! I can’t wait to read the next one, I’m looking forward to another amazing chapter and another visit to this gorgeous town.

A great book in a great setting.

I have loved this series of books.

This is the story of Aiden and Brooke. They were together once, but were then torn apart by her disapproving father. Now he is back in town it is clear that the attraction betwen them is still there, but Brooke is keeping a big secret, so will they get a second chance when he finds out what she is hiding?

Once again, Carrie Elks has written an addictive, sexy story but what I’ve also found with the Angel Sands books is that there’s a real charm and homeliness about them. Firstly, I think that this is down to the strong bond the girls have and secondly the setting of the novels based in a small coastal town in America that’s filled with sunshine, laughter and community spirit.
Sweet Little Lies is Brooke’s turn in the spotlight.

I adored Brooke and Aiden’s story as I particularly loved Brooke’s personality; the single mom with hopes and dreams for a career working with animals. Brooke adored her son and the work at the animal shelter was her second love and these character strengths shone through Brooke’s personality. Aiden’s characters had a vulnerability about him, he’d turned his life around and was back in his home town to prove to any cynics he’d done good. However, Aiden couldn’t shake all the dirt from his history and once it caught up with him it would change his life and that of others.
A story with heart and soul that was addictively moreish

I was surprised by the storyline. I figured it would be your typical I hid the pregnancy from you because ....... I was hoping for a redemption story for the brother but I don't think that will be the case due to the ending. Great Story overall. Didn't really focus on the Spicy side as much as the previous books in my opinion.
