description So where to begin? I wanted to love this book. It had all the makings of an angsty 5 Star read. A hot British royal. A feisty heroine. Secrets. Lies. Hot sex. Sweet moments. Romantic moments. And the first 60% was fantastic and heading in that direction. Then the other shoe dropped and the last 40% of this book was drama llama overload. Time jumps. An entire year separation where the heroine (Although, props to this author for having the hero keep it in his pants during the separation). It just felt needlessly drug out and over the top, and then BAM everything is forgiven..THE END.

So yea, the first 60% was close to perfect. The last 40% of the book didn't work for me. C'est la vie.

Don’t Exist in Life.....Live In Your Life.

A sweet romance, full of angst, drama, a little comedy, and a second chance at love, that was told in dual POVs. While this story had all the makings of a great read, I had some conflicts. I loved the first half of the book. I thought there was great chemistry and banter between Oliver and Addison. But about 60% into the read, I started to dislike the heroine. She drove me crazy with her stubbornness. I got it and understood her but then the story went in another different angsty way. It wasn’t a favorite direction for me but I knew that in the end, the outcome would be a HEA.

I will say that I do love the author’s writing and Deceit was a lovely read.

5 Charming CROWNS

Ava Harrison's Deceit is filled with a angst, emotion, a charming as heck hero, and a heroine struggling to overcome heartbreak. I found these two to be endearing, sexy, and most importantly an example that love can be healing.

Ollie! My man. There are not words that will do him adequate justice. He is just all the things a hero should be. He is utterly delectable in looks and personality. I love that he brings the heroine out of her shell. He brings her back to life and shows her what real love and life is about. Sure, he makes mistakes. Big ones. He does however make up for it in the best way, which one would expect because, hello, he is CHARMING AF.

Addy is broken at the beginning of this broke. She is trying to heal by taking time away, hence putting her on the path to Oliver. What ensues is a relationship that awakens her, heals her, shows her that what she thought was a passionate love really wasn't. I love who she becomes with him, not because of him, but who these two are together.  Who she becomes when the inevitable conflict occurs is hard. There are moments that I want to shake her for her stubborn nature, but this is a result of protecting her heart. She heart was already fractured at the beginning of the book, and Ollie shattered it into the tiniest of pieces. So, yeah, does she make dumb choices? Absolutely, but she is broken a tad beyond repair, and although she is a fictional character, she is meant to exemplify human nature.

The story is angst and drama and explosive chemistry. Readers will definitely be emotionally invested from the beginning, and whether they like or dislike the heroine or hero or story, their emotions will be connected to everything that happens.

The one attribute of an Ava Harrison story is that she doesn't always write the conventional hero, heroine, or story. Olly doesn't follow standard romance hero protocal, and neither does Addy. The story takes a departure from the traditional romance trope, and at the end of the day, I respect any author who tries to shake up the norm and does it so well. So, will there be people who don't like the book? Probably. But what matters more than anything is her writing is impecable.

Deceit is a breathtaking tale. I was captivated by EVERY SINGLE WORD in this story.

I'm baffled, by the way Ava spins a story of pure gold EVERY SINGLE TIME and makes each and every book more passionate, more emotional, more intense, more beautiful than the last.

Oliver & Addison are simply wonderful. I am enamoured by them. The feels seep from the pages of this book, onto your skin, into your blood stream, straight to your heart. I was powerless to stop myself falling in love with them and this story.

Ava, you did it! Deceit is my favourite story by you! BRAVO 👏👏👏

Although I was intrigued by the synopsis, in the end I didn’t enjoy it.
All this push-pull and drama that took place made me discontented and the story felt cold and unemotional. I struggled to reach the last page...

I wanted to fall in love with this romance so much, as it contained a perfect amount of features of an angst-ridden narrative full of heated moments, intense chemistry and deceitful secrets. Initially the execution was flawless and illustrated the characters’ dishonest intentions and vindictive actions in perfect fashion. However, the conclusion was lacklustre and transitioned downhill for numerous reasons—including the heroine’s terrible personality change.

She’s exquisite when she smiles like this. Like a goddess come down to earth.

Fierce, confident and self-reliant, Addison Price isn’t to be underestimated. She’s relentless, with a keen eye for business, but she’s erected and fortified difficult to crumble barriers to protect her brittle heart. Addison’s characterisation is commendable, however, her admirable qualities became overshadowed by an unbridled stubbornness when difficult situations unfurl. I understand her hesitance to find love in life, as well as her wariness to believe another’s intentions because of past relationships, but her immature attitude to pretend her issues don’t exist is frustrating.

A man like him could convince a girl to lose herself—for at least one night.

Oliver Blackthorn, conceited but somehow a sweetheart, is full of so much irresistible charm, you can't avoid falling in love with this hero. I don't condone his attitude whatsoever—a combination of secretive lies and devious deceit—but towards the end he tried to redeem himself. I can't condemn Oliver for his rectification; he harbours some serious levels of restraint and patience, considering Addison's unfortunate immature choices and decisions. It makes it difficult to dislike this hero within any capacity to be honest!

“This doesn’t have to be goodbye,” he finally says.
“Then what should it be?” I whisper.
“Until we meet again?” he responds.

Deceit had all the features and characteristics to turn into an unforgettable angst-ridden, enemies to lovers kind of romance, but Addison's indifference when it came to Oliver was too difficult to bear. Before the unneeded time jump, or the undesired separation, Addison and Oliver did have some serious chemistry that electrified through the chapters. It's unfortunate the way the drama was created and the sudden disjointedness in the way the situation was rectified.

5 LOVE THIS BOOK STARS!! Ava Harrison has blown my mind again with her beautiful words. Olly and Addison's story is perfection with sexiness, love, humor, lies, and some suspense. The story kept me turning pages and never wanting it to end. This book will be one of my favorites for 2019.

Deceit's plot line is exactly as the title suggest, a story about a relationship based on lies, the deceit of one character to another, all signs pointing at disaster. Only in this novel you want the deceit to be forgiven, Ava Harrison sees to that with compelling characters and the royal bloodline us readers are flocking to right now. It's the sort of novel that even deceives the reader, leaving you wondering if this romance has the ability to last or if it'll burn in flames. There's twists and turns and scenes that almost made me riot, and yet Ava Harrison had me hanging on to this fascinating story with everything in me.

"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all."

Addison, Addy, doesn't want to hold the fake smile on her face while she watches her ex say I do to the new woman of his dreams, even if it was her doing. Instead she chooses to use work as an excuse, setting off for the English countryside to view a plot of land with a confusing bit of history. Small countryside towns don't have a lot to offer though, with just a single bar and one handsome man willing to go scotch for scotch. Oliver, Olly, is back at his estate to help his mother, but he can't deny himself the fun of spending time with the gorgeous Addy. He only wants to help her live a little, no mess, no relationship, and so he keeps his true identity to himself. Like all no-strings attached relationships, what starts as a bit of fun and a lot of lust turns into something more. As they take off an adventures and explore their emotions Olly and Addy find that maybe living is the key to happiness, at least until the lies are uncovered and the deceit is revealed.

"The door slams. It closes on the lie. It closes on the deception. It closes on the deceit. It closes on us."

Deceit is angsty and romantic, an instant win for me. Plus I loved Oliver just as much as Addy does, even if he is the biggest womanizer in the royal family and has no idea how to apologize and win a woman back properly. I loved the journey I was taken on in Deceit. I'm not typically big on relationships built on lies and I admit I struggled a bit with Olly's natural inclination towards sex over words, but I found myself swayed to love the journey by the character growth, the lessons in the words, and the off-the-charts chemistry shared by the hero and heroine. Both Olly and Addy make some poor choices through out the novel, but it made Deceit feel more realistic and it made their relationship develop in a way that many romance novels gloss over. Ava Harrison is still a fairly new to me author, but she's slowly becoming a solid must-read for me, especially with this new release.

Alright, so there's this thing with me where I find it a bit difficult to connect to two extremely rich MCs. (One of them is rich works fine with me, two parallel worlds have it's own charm).

Maybe because their (MCs) problems and thoughts are quite different to what I'm used to (or sometimes even sound snobbish).
Maybe most of the time they ARE too arrogant for their own good.
Also, there doesn't seem to be much 'problem' in their love story as I don't find any 'Struggle' there..

Okay maybe it's just my mood rn but whatever...bring on the next book please.

Wer also auf ewiges Schmachten steht - perfekt :-)

**ARC REVIEW**
Addison is heart broken when her ex is getting married and to avoid attending the wedding with her family. She escapes to London on business or so everyone assumes.

Oliver - The Earl and silent playboy has been summoned by his mother to discover a piece of property that was once in their ownership may now become available. Oliver must do anything and everything to get possession of the property for his mother to secure her secret.

Allison falls for the endless charmer that Oliver is but after discovering his deceit, she's completely shattered. She feels so vulnerable realizing that what she had with Olly was all a rouse... Or was it?

Olly is beside himself and can't for the life of him find a way back to Addison to talk and ask for forgiveness. He will continue fighting, she's the one and he cannot let her escape.

This story is full with so many incredible moments, Oliver and Addison have with one another and in one day it's just all gone. Now we go through the pieces of them finding themselves then finding each other again!

I really need to read more from this author as this was a great read.

Deceit has two strong characters....Oliver and Addison.

Addison is a strong likeable character. She’s trying to move on after being hurt by an ex. Then she meets Olly. He’s an intriguing character.
The chemistry between them is hot.

How can a relationship built on lies and Deceit survive?

Deceit is a well written story told through two points of view. I enjoyed it.

“He made his choice. This has nothing to do with you. He chose to lie. To be deceitful. He chose to use me. Hurt me. He chose to destroy me.”

Deceit is one rollercoaster. There are so many ups and downs, omg. I was hooked from the very beginning. I love Ava Harrison’s writing, and her heroes are always so fucking sexy and swoony. I can say that Oliver Blackthorn has officially become my new favourite. While I loved the first part of the book, I have to admit that I liked the second part a bit less. I’m not a fan of time jumps in the middle of the story and even if I get it, Addison ’s behaviour kind of pissed me off at times. Other than the drama overload towards the end, Deceit was a lovely read.

Addison Price is a successful, strong and beautiful woman. After a tough breakup, she has built walls around her heart and is fiercely convinced that there’s no place for love in her future. That is until she meets the very handsome, swoony, Oliver Blackthorn. Without spoiling anything, I have to admit that she drove me totally mental with her stubbornness at times. I understood her actions but I struggled with her unwillingness to communicate and hear Oliver out. I did like her independence though.

“I’m hiding myself from the world just as much as I’m hiding from myself.”

Oliver Blackthorn is the Earl of Lockhart. He’s cocky, arrogant, but he also has an endearing side. Ugh, I LOVE him so much. He’s sweet, fun and swoony as fuck. He simply stole my heart. I love how determined he is with Addison. He never gives up even when there's little hope. It’s hard to talk about him without saying too much, so I’ll just stop here. What I can say is that Addison and Oliver are explosive together. Their attraction and chemistry is undeniable. I couldn’t get enough of them together.

Overall, Deceit is a sweet, angsty, suspenseful romance packed with drama and twists and turns that will have your head spinning. I think I would have liked more scenes with Oliver and Addison as a couple, but like I said, I truly enjoyed their story.

Lies. Can any relationship survive when it begins with lies?! Is that something you can come back from?! This is the biggest obstacle Olly and Addy will face as their relationship progresses. Sometimes secrets aren't yours to tell and that's the situation these two find themselves in.

Addy is strong, fierce and has built walls around her heart so high she's convinced herself there is no room for love in her future. She's so successful she's never sure of men's true intentions. She's guarded and keeps her romantic feelings in check, that is until Olly brings out a side of her she keeps locked away.

Olly is arrogant and sure of himself to a certain extent, he is of course the Earl of Lockhart. But he's so endearing and not over the top, that's what I loved that about him the most. He treated Addy as an equal and loved all facets of her tough exterior.

I felt their connection in my heart. They both struggled in their relationship and I struggled with them. I was broken when they were broken. It was not an easy rode for Olly and Addy, their journey took time and understanding and I'm thrilled to have traveled that adventure with them ❤️❤️❤️

DECEIT by Ava Harrison is the story of Addison Pierce and Oliver Blackthorn the 16th Earl of Lockhart.
Addison is a strong, successful independent women but she is having mixed emotions about her former boyfriend getting married. Addison thought he would be the love of her life. Addison heads to a village in England to escape her feelings, this puts her into meeting Oliver. Oliver is sent to the village to handle a Estate Land issue which leads him to befriend Addison to succeed at his mission. What he didn't count on were the feelings she brings out in him...but their relationship is built on lies.
Enjoyed their story and I will be looking for more from this author.

Audiobook Review

Overall 3 stars
Performance 4 stars
Story 2 stars

I really wanted to like this one, but sadly, all of the angst and drama just didn't work for me. I knew there would be lies and obviously deceit involved, but it just became too drawn out and over the top. Things were going well at the start and I felt fairly invested in Addison and Oliver and couldn't wait for all the secrets to come to light. Oliver was more on the arrogant side rather than charming for me, but I liked how he disarmed the generally uptight Addison. They were cute together and their chemistry was scorching hot! Unfortunately, by the middle, the story began to stall for me and it felt overly repetitive. It seemed to take forever for the truth to be revealed, and I never felt like either character did anything to redeem themselves for their lies, decisions, or their selfishness. I did appreciate that it wasn't one sided though, and that mistakes were made by both characters. The entire Maxwell story line felt unnecessary and I wish that Addison would have displayed more of the intelligence and independence that her character supposedly had. I am curious about Addison's two brothers though and wonder if they will get their own books.

The highlight of the audiobook was Shane East and I enjoyed his performance very much. He had just the right amount of swagger and charm to pull off Oliver. He was equally amazing during the more emotional scenes as well, especially the one between Oliver and his mother towards the end. Lucy Rivers did a good job, but I felt her voice sounded more muffled and not as clear as Shane East. I also didn't particularly enjoy her male voices and did have some difficulty differentiating between the characters. Overall, this was an angsty and slightly frustrating listen/read for me.

If there's a romance with heartbreak before the happy ending, I want to tap it ;-)

And this book promises that in spades right out from the very title.

An American woman is fleeing from a hurtful past into the English countryside where she meets a dashing gentleman who sweeps her off her feet. Unbeknownst to her, he's hiding an agenda that ties with her job and his noble family. The first part of this romance is centered around their easy, passionate fling. I enjoyed the flowing way it evolved from an affair to a deep bond, especially because of his pespective, we're aware of his growing lies and remorse. I loved the poignant separation, but when the truth comes out it lacked a bit of drama. It was really too short.

Later on, the consequences for both of the characters really paid off in suffering and guilt and mistakes. However, they never really talked beyond the fighting over the lie. The tension is unbearable as Addison is trying to overcome her meltdown over Oliver's betrayal. On the one had, it's bittersweet and dramatic, but on the other hand it's frustrating because they really spend half the book apart :-( At least, the female character really evolves and learns through a hell of emotions. She becomes stronger on her own. That was cool. I liked the reasons behind the deceit.

Though Oliver is not exactly a knight in shining armor, he's definitely a man in love. And this couple goes through emotional turmoil before they claim their hard-earned, rocky ending. Entertaining read in general and a good plot though it took the couple too long to reconcile.

I'm with the other reviewers who had mixed feelings about Deceit. Oliver and Addison's entire relationship is built on the lie that he doesn't tell her who he actually is. Okay, I knew that from the blurb and was okay with that diving into the book. Despite the fact that he was keeping something major from her -- it would have a huge impact on the property she's trying to sell on behalf of her family's company -- I liked the relationship that was developing between Olly and Addy. They were cute, they were sexy, they were flirty.

But after Olly and Addy's relationship implodes, and she just shut him out completely without giving him the chance to explain, the book kind of fell apart for me. The rest of the story dragged as she tries to move on with another guy, lying to herself the entire time that she loves Maxwell. (I did love, however, that Olly remained faithful to Addison during that time as he tried to win her back.)

The book culminates with all of Oliver's family secrets finally being explained, and she understands why he lied as he did. But by that point, I wasn't as enthralled by the story anymore was just reading to get to the HEA that I knew was coming for these two.

Ava Harrison is a new-to-me author, and even though I have mixed feelings on how much I liked Deceit, I liked enough of it to check out books from this author in the future. I received and advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

5 Star Review Deceit by Ava Harrison

I have no idea where to start with this review. Deceit is an extremely well written story that blew me away. It was a wonderful book to read and Ava Harrison had me riveted from the first to the last chapter as she wove her story.

Addison is fleeing from the news that her ex is getting married and she escapes to the countryside where she meets Olly. Oh what a man Oliver Blackthorn, the 16th Earl of Lockhart and 33rd in line to the throne is.

The chemistry and intensity that smoulders between them was scorchingly hot. The love, the lies, the suspense and the humour all worked together to bring you a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

I thought I would find it hard to like Olly, but really there was just something about him that intrigued me from the start and I fell for him hook, line and sinker. It was great to watch Addison grow throughout the story and she became so much stronger than even she thought she could be.

Olly is a man of secrets, a man who falls in love and yet lies to her. Can their relationship survive when it is based on lies?

Although it was a long and rocky path to happiness, I am certainly glad that Olly and Addison finally got there is the end.

Omg I was 24/25 chapters in and I still couldn’t for the life of me get into this book! I actually got the audiobook bundle of this book series featuring different couples cause it was on sale and a 3-in-1 deal so I was like why not, but this first book is just so damn boring I end up falling asleep while listening to it every. single. time. And what makes it even worse is that the female narrator was so freaking dreadful to listen to. I couldn’t even be bothered to skim it and find out what happens in the end with how much I didn’t care about the characters (who were also hella boring and fell short). Yawn.

Done. Put a fork in me I am done. This book is so angst filled, ugh feels like she crushed my heart. Honestly, this world Ava built is something else. You get so caught up in the book you don't realize you are not actually a part of it. To me, that is pure gold. Having a relationship based on lies is a dangerous thing. I am not rehashing the plot..y'all can read, but this book...this book y'all will steal your soul. Told in dual pov, it's really easy to get sucked in when you know how each character is feeling, thinking, doing. Another masterpiece for sure.

To be honest I didn’t really care for Oliver. I just bought I’d like this one after reading about Grayson but I was wrong.
Addison and Oliver really didn’t have a connection to me. The whole he’s an heir to the throne whatever was so boring.
