Hana is pressed into a marriage meeting with Takane, a scion of a business empire, impersonating her sister to save her father's job! Ready to put that fiasco behind her Hana is shocked that Takane actually seems interested in her! She is exasperated by his immaturity but intrigued despite herself at the fun she has as they try to outwit one another...


The Premise

Takane & Hana vol 9 has INSANE drama over this house!! And I loved every page of it. Takane sure knows how to act like a child when he wants to... but that is part of his charm. And I loved the fits he threw about Hana and her family living with him. After seeing him in the pit of despair it was lovely to see him back to himself. And seeing the cute interactions because they live such different lifestyles. The vol gets explosive though when Hana's childhood friend, Okamon, starts acting weird about Takane and Hana living together.


The Buzz

TBH I NEVER would have had the gumption to do what Hana does!! Yeah she goes and sees Takane's grandfather. He totally wows us (of course, Takane is cut from the same cloth except this old man has decades and decades on his grandson). I love their conversation and Hana's conclusion. And I really wonder if he knows... I kind of want him too but wouldn't it be more dramatic if he didn't?! In any case Takane & Hana vol 9 changes everything between Takane and Hana and I love just how serious we're getting here.


The Feels

Okamon's reaction totally blew me away though! This is the most we've ever learned about Okamon and it was great to see him fleshed out in Takane & Hana vol 9!! I love how super logical he is and how affected Hana is by his feelings. We finally understand a little more about their relationship. I ADORE reading from a minor character's POV and we get that from Okamon here. We needed it too. We knew he kept a lot to himself, but now we see just how serious he is... and I wonder what Takane's reaction is going to be... even more than Hana's own response!


The Visuals

I loved in Takane & Hana vol 9 how Hana honestly looked so much older when she was dressed as her sister. To see this come through in the art was impressive to me. I also really loved all the shots with Okamon and his whole soccer deal. This series totally wows me because I love all the changing expressions. It totally makes all of the comedy and relationships come alive in a way I miss in other shoujo manga, it really is a strength of the series.

Takane & Hana vol 9 is the best volume following Takane's descent into poverty!! These two have weathered the emotional bites... so can they take things to the next level?! Even though Hana is still in high school and Takane has his grandfather breathing down his back?! Can Takane rise to the chairman's challenge and form deep and abiding relationships?! I can't wait to see the story catapult forward in the next volume of Takane and Hana!!

Ahh the ending !! Okamon omg! I can’t wait to see reactions in the next volume!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm officially dropping this series thanks to this volume. Here's why:

1. The repetitive nature of the jokes, scenarios, dialogue, etc. has been grating on my nerves for awhile and this volume has finally left me raw. How is it that we are 9 volumes into this series and Takane, who is 30 years old mind you, still refuses to use his FUCKING WORDS and communicate his problems to Hana? I get that he only acts out of care for others, but considering that he's been called out for this behavior MULTIPLE TIMES and it's still happening is beyond inexcusable. And before anyone comments about how all series are repetitive and blah blah blah, I AM PERFECTLY AWARE OF THAT. Kaguya-sama Love is War is one of my favorite romantic comedies of all time and it is repetitive as hell, but I love it because I can tolerate the repetition since the jokes are still hilarious (in my opinion). At this point, the jokes are stale and overdone.

2. Hana's family is annoying as shit, barely serves any purpose, and quite frankly paint lower-class families as money-grubbing assholes that will jump at any opportunity for a better life with zero shame. Lovely.

3. Okamon. FUCKING OKAMON. Where do I even fucking start? I am so fucking done with this character; he was a bland, one dimensional childhood friend love interest who never did anything to start a relationship with Hana but is jealous of Takane for taking the initiative. He has been some kind of voice of reason to Hana, though to be honest his advice is shady at best, but in this volume he has the audacity to get on her case because she dumped a bunch of home-life exposition on him. I will admit Hana went a little too far into TMI territory (why would she mention that she can walk around in nothing but a towel in front of Takane and he won't do anything? Seriously, how naive-bordering on stupid is she??) but his tirade was completely uncalled for. Especially when he drops this gem of a line:
"If you wander up to some guy you're not even dating, wearing nothing but a towel...if something DID happen, people would say you were asking for it".
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK?! Yes, Takane and Hana technically aren't dating, but they're in an ARRANGED MARRIAGE PARTNERSHIP, which I don't know about you, but kind of ECLIPSES dating to me. Not to mention the fact that you're argument is effectively don't do this because people will blame you for any negative consequences? Not "don't do this because you could get hurt" or "because it's dangerous," but because you could be the subject of victim blaming? Woooooow, that's awesome! I can't imagine why Hana hasn't fallen head over heels for this jealous asshole yet! And no, him admitting that he's terrible for having these feelings does not justify his behavior, especially when he admits that he only started having romantic feelings for Hana when Takane came into her life and "threatened" to take her away from him. I repeat-WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! And to add the cherry on top, he confesses his feelings to her at the end of the volume. No, I am not fucking reading the next volume just to see how she responds because I could not give a flying fuck at this point.

That just about wraps up my thoughts. I'm not continuing with this series and have no regrets ending it. Thank you for listening to my rage-induced tirade, enjoy your day.

GIVE ME ALL OF THE TAKANE AND HANA!!! There was more great character development in this volume. With the living dynamic changing, it makes for an interesting shift in how they see each other. Especially Takane. I'm really excited to see what vol 10 has in store.

I devoured the series over the course of a couple of months. Took a little longer than I hoped because a few of them decided to take forever from Amazon. Hana ends up roped into taking her older sisters place in a marriage match never expecting that anything would come from it. Instead a we get a very sweet comical whirlwind romance between her and Takane. 

I ended up reading the first one and instantly ordering the rest of them it's such a cute series kind of a enemies to lover romance between them. I loved Hana she's an adorable character and I think because of her I'm going to do bubblegum pink hair next. Each manga has the pair growing as characters. Takane had a lot of growing to do but he get's there eventually. 

The artwork is as equally lovely as the story. I was captivated right from the start and fell in love with Hana and Takane's story. This is one of my favorite series that I'm so glad I purchased the set. They will always have a special place on my bookshelf and I know they will get some re-reads as I wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet. I plan to read the authors other manga as I loved this one so much. Highly recommend a perfect sweet romance.

OKAMONNNNNNN!!! 😭😭😭😭😭

That whole last chapter (and that one conversation before then) really hit me hard! I sooooo want him to be happy and just like GAH!! I want him to be with Hana so badly, but I somehow want Takane in the picture even though that can't happen and isn't even realistic. *laugh cries* Also Okamon FINALLY expressing his thoughts was everything (even if I did feel bad for Hana a little bit LOL)!

But another fantastic volume in this series! I admire Hana's guts on a pretty bold move she makes because she wanted to. Like you go girl!

I do have to laugh at how there are even MORE shenanigans unfolding due to the new living situation, even though I wasn't sure it was possible to amp things up even more. LOL! I'm definitely here for it even if my heart is still breaking on Okamon's behalf!

Nervously excited to start the next volume!!

Le président Takaba a osé, il s’est arrangé pour que Takane et la famille de Hana emménagent dans la même maison et cela promet des moments très drôles.

Hana se réjouit de la situation car elle espère enfin pouvoir se rapprocher de Takane puisqu’ils seront sous le même toit mais ce dernier n’a pas l’air du même avis !

J’ai adoré ce tome où même si la relation n’a pas forcément avancé, on retrouve une Hana déterminée à atteindre son objectif et qui n’est plus intimidée comme dans les premiers tomes !

La révélation finale laisse présager qu’il va y avoir des rebondissements par la suite ! C’est pour cela que j’enchaîne directement avec le tome suivant ! ♥

This was a very well done volume I loved seeing the antics of Takane and Hana living together, but the way this volume ended has me wondering in what direction the series is gonna go. I'm nervous, but am looking forward to what's in store in the next installment.

After a string of solid 4 star volumes, I'm slapping this one with 3, and that's for Hana having the courage to go see the chairman and for Okamon's kokuhaku. Hana's family is beyond annoying in this volume and the bit with the nightgown and cap was cringe-worthy. Having Takane and the Nonomura family sharing the house has loads of potential but it certainly isn't realized in this volume; it's just wasted. Hana walking around in the towel is just baffling because she isn't stupid. It's just really frustrating because the potential for hilarity and character development in the house-sharing situation is completely missed and instead it's Hana's family acting like some stereotypical drunk poor people. Ugh. Up until now they've actually been pretty normal and relatable but now they are reduced to acting like the Beverly Hillbillies. And Takane was a lot more fun when he was living in the 1 LDK and learning how to be thrifty. I hope volume 10 is better than this or I'm done and I don't want to be!

Love

This manga never disappoints! It's always funny, cute, and just straight awesome sauce. Honestly I love it so much, I can hardly stand it. The waiting drives my crazy! With the bomb that wasn't really a bomb, because everyone knows, but is also still a bomb, because Hana is oblivious was dropped there at the end. I was like "NO, please don't be the last chapter!" *turns page, looks at sky, because it was the last page, and howls NOoOoOoOooo! Whilst kicking feet, and rolling all over the place.* Now I wait with baited breath for the next installment of my precious.... So, yeah... Read the whole series it's fire.

Definitely some changes in relationship dynamics in this volume. Still some things to work out, it was good though. I do wonder where the series will lead and how it will end. I continue to enjoy the characters though and the plot of this volume was fun.

Volume ricco di sviluppi e di colpi di scena. Innanzitutto, il nonno di Takane torna alla carica con una nuova idea: la famiglia Nonomura e Takane si ritrovano a convivere sotto lo stesso tetto, così da favorire la frequentazione tra il ragazzo e la sua futura sposa (che, ricordiamolo, dovrebbe essere la sorella maggiore di Hana...o almeno, questo è quello che crede il presidente). Ovviamente Takane è sul piede di guerra, ma non sembra esserci modo di far cambiare idea al vecchiardo. Ci prova pure Hana (spacciandosi per sua sorella): l'incontro con il presidente le fa capire che, a dispetto delle stranezze e dei metodi bizzarri, il capofamiglia è sinceramente affezionato al nipote e per questo vuole aiutarlo, a modo suo, facendogli capire che non può fare tutto da solo, che ha bisogno di crearsi una rete di persone di fiducia. E ovviamente una di queste persone deve essere la sua futura sposa. Diciamo, che il presidente ci ha visto giusto, visto che Takane ha la tendenza a non chiedere mai aiuto, ma, visti i rapporti a dir poco tesi all'interno della famiglia, il ragazzo ha bisogno di alleati. E quindi Hana inizia la sua opera di convincimento e questa convivenza le darà la possibilità di conoscere meglio la persona che sta frequentando. Certo, stare dietro a un soggetto come Takane non è facile, ma i momenti di "tenerezza" e quelli spassosi non mancano.

E poi c'è l'altro grande sviluppo: la dichiarazione di Okamon, il migliore amico di Hana. Da sempre poco amante del "matusa" (ovvero, di Takane) e dei suoi modi di fare, il ragazzo decide di prendere il coraggio a due mani e di fare un passo avanti. E quindi adesso la nostra protagonista si ritrova con un'altra bella gatta da pelare. Chi scegliere? Meglio l'amico di una vita - un coetaneo, giovane ma maturo e affidabile? O un personaggio decisamente più complesso come Takane?

Today's manga post is on Takane & Hana, Vol. 9 by Yuki Shiwasu. It is 200 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Hana, Okomon, and Takane on it. As it is the ninth in the series, you need to have read the read the first eight volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes humorous, slow burn love stories. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of the characters. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

Review- Takane's grandfather is putting him under a lot of pressure. Both in his job and in this relationship with Hana. Because of that Takane is being more difficult than usual. So Hana has to annoy him more than usual to get him out of it. Then Okomon just confesses to her and that is going to make things more complicated. I like how much communication there is in this volume. Between all the characters, from Hana and Takane to Hana's father and Takane's grandfather, there are no real misunderstandings in this volume. I am very curious about how Okomon's confessions is going to affect the story from here out.

I give this volume a Four out of Five st

Aufmachung


Gefühlt hat dieser Manga unfassbar viel Text. Geschrieben ist es gut und gespickt mit Stichelein und Sarkasmus. Die Wortgefechte, die die Protagonisten austragen sind wirklich unterhaltsam.
Der Zeichenstil könnte wirklich toll sein, wenn er denn mehr detaillierte Zeichnungen erhielte. Leider sind die Chibis der Mangaka nicht so meins, aber das ist bestimmt Geschmackssache.


Protagonisten


Takane ist ein arroganter Schnösel. Und obwohl er beruflich ein hohes Tier und sehr erwachsen ist, so kann man das privat von ihm nicht behaupten. Für ihn zählt nur eins: Hauptsache Luxus.

Hana ist Oberschülerin und rotzfrech. Außerdem kann sie kontern, Hola die Waldfee.


Fazit

Mimimi. Ich weiß wirklich nicht, ob ich es weiter verfolgen will oder nicht. Es dreht sich immer wieder nur im Kreis, dann kommt wieder ein Punkt, der mich total anfixt. Irgendwie finde ich es grandios und bin zur selben Zeit genervt davon. Wie gern würde ich irgendwas mal voran schreiten sehen, aber die Schritte sind so minimal, dass man sie kaum sehen kann. Es ist zum verrückt werden. Ich glaube man kann es Hassliebe nennen.

Can it truly be a shojo romance without a love triangle?

Shiwasu doesn't mince any words, and propels this volume ahead of the typical "love confession" ploys, so altogether I'm not upset about this development at all. It doesn't feel forced, or like it took too long. Takane and Hana's relationship continues to be dysfunctional and yet weirdly cute? But I'm really notsoquietly rooting for Okamon now.

(I'm not going to clutter my blog with reviewing each volume, but suffice to say, if you're on the fence, go read this series starting with the first one.)

So... the last volume ended with Hana's family and Takane moving into the same house due to his grandfather the Chairman's scheming. It picks right up with that, and neither party seemed particularly happy, although Hana's family is much more on board, with really no other choice. It felt so cruel to see them played that way. It was refreshing though to see Hana be the one that confronts the Chairman on it while Takane was basically turned away. At least he had the heart to see her, and while I have to assume the "juice" thing was a jab, she managed to show some spunk right back. The comedy meter was lower here as things become more serious with Okamon finally stepping up to the plate too.

Takane and Hana living together? Now this is a twist I didn't see coming. I'm starting to hate how Hana's family is just uprooted, and manipulated on every level. Is this really the family you'd want your daughter to marry into? I mean sure, money is a thing. But seriously? And Takane is just being a jerk. An entire floor to himself where he can literally look down on everyone? I'm seeing some sweet moments, but I'm also so irritated sometimes that I feel like I'm losing momentum on reading this series.

When the series started, it was cute. Like the age difference will always be the glaring red flag, but I liked that it started out that these two just genuinely liked spending time with one another. Now the series feels like it's dragged on way too long, and most of the side characters are annoying as hell. (Hana's family is the worst.) At this point, some of the plot points are getting ridiculous and not in a fun way, more like the mangaka is trying everything to make this series keep going.

Also, Hana should go with Okamon. Sorry not sorry.

То че е задължително, така е, но ми се струва рано за тази част от историята... Или пък не? Томовете са само 18, все го забравям, следователно вече сме в средата.

Honestly, I like Takane but I’m really tired of stories where the guy is in love with the girl best friend but she doesn’t know it, then hot guy comes in and guy best friend admits he’s in love with her, but it’s too late and we know girl ends up with hot guy.
I’d really like to read a manga about a guy and girl best friend dating already, and just having their adventures and all.

This was a bit cliche in some parts but it is cute. I am glad we get to see more of Okamon, who has been a support character until now! I like the cover of this one so much. I was sad to see Takane lose some of the lessons he had learned, but he is beginning to try to be a good... Whatever he is... In his own wa.
