Blurb:
She's his childhood crush. He's her best friend's brother.

Falling for him could ruin his future.

Keighly Kaye thought she'd never return home. She left an abusive father and a mother who wouldn't fight for her and her sisters.

On her way from school to L.A., her BFF Bertie asks her to come home for one week. The Headley Campground needs another counselor, and they're losing business.

Peter Headley is a nerd to the core. He loves game design and hates the thought of living his father's dream of attending Cornell. Family loyalty puts him in a bind. He has one week to decide.

When Keke returns home, he's reminded of how pathetic he really is. This gorgeous dancer couldn't possibly want a guy who's never even kissed a girl.

Bertie expects Keke to keep her childhood promise of never falling for Pete. The secret she holds could destroy him, and the last thing he needs is a broken heart too.

But one kiss couldn't possibly ruin a friendship. After all, Pete needs to learn...

Eliza Ellis is a new author to me but one that has impressed me with her writing style that is relaxed and realistic. I loved Pete and his sister Bertie who is three years old er than him. He is a bit nerdy and has crushed on her best friend, Keighly for as long as he can remember but she is sophisticated and older so why would she be interested in him? Bertie has also made Keighly promise to leave her brother alone! When she left for college she was happy to never go back home to her abusive father and the mother who wouldn't defend her and her sisters from him so when Bertie pleads with her to come home to help with her family business, a camp ground, she reluctantly agrees to be the counsellor. This puts her and Pete in close proximity. Will anything happen between them? Keighly is very self absorbed so will she even notice him? She also has a secret that could cause great upset. Beautifully written with passion, angst, mystery and love. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Definitely recommended
p.s. Keighly 'grew' on me during the storyline

honest review. I really enjoyed reading this story about Keke and Peter. Keke and Bertie have been best friends forever. And Bertie's little brother, Peter has always been a nerdy gamer whom they teased as the Hobbit. So image her surprise when she comes to help at Bertie's parents camp for the summer, that Peter is all grown up and filled out, heck she doesn't recognize him at all. Pete has always had a crush on Keke, but now she's looking at him differently and he is grown. He actually has an interview with a huge gaming company in California, but his dad is pushing him to go to Cornell. There's a new girl at camp who keeps smiling at Pete, and he has a hard time taking to pretty girls. Keke and Bertie made a pact that said she couldn't like her brother, but Keke is now finding that rule hard to follow as she tries to help him land the new girl. Things get crazy between Keke getting jealous and Bertie getting mad at her. Great story, light and easy to read.

Decent read

This was a quick read, only took a few hours. The writing was good and the dialogue felt mostly natural. I liked Pete, but I felt like he spent so much time trying to convince people he was grown up he forgot to act grown up. Keke seemed like a nice girl, but it frustrated me that she was so absorbed with how Pete looked. There didn't seem to be much between except a Portugal attraction. Overall it for like there were so many stereotypes that it became cliche. And it seemed a little harsh to call sometime crazy because they're on antidepressants and anxiety meds. This is my first book this author, and I would probably read more from her. It was a clean read with no sex or profanity.

He is her best friend brother and she is his crush. She left home never expecting to return as she had a bad time growing up. He asked her to help him out for a week. It will mean seeing her family. How is that going to go? See how it does

I have mixed feelings about this book. The premise is cute. It is a clean sweet romance. However, the author tells things from two characters perspectives but there is little difference in the way the viewed the event so it felt repetitive to me. I liked the characters so I may look for more books by this author and give her another chance.

Frenemies reevaluate.

I liked Pete and Keke. They both needed to set emotional boundaries for themselves. There were a lot of misunderstandings. I thought it was a realistic relationship. I liked it.

My first time with this author. It was predictable, but I liked it all the same. A fun, clean read with likeable characters. Probably more for teens, but light entertainment for all. I'm looking up her other books now. I'd read this one again.

I liked the character of Peter Hadley who spent all his free time programming and playing video games despite his intelligence and acceptance into Cornell wants to make a living designing apps. It was what he enjoyed and was good at, but not what his judgmental father wanted. I didn’t like Keighley “Keke” Kaye as much because she came off as arrogant talking about all the hearts she’d broken and how she could tutor Peter in how to get a girl. They both had judgmental harsh controlling fathers. She broke free to pursue her dream of dancing and acting in college. He gets a potential big break with a company that might want to buy his apps and hire him to develop more in Silicon Valley, CA. But he also has to decide if he wants to go to Cornell in NY. She’s just starting out in a struggling low paying to start career in LA. He is three years younger than her. And his sister is her best friend and she made a pact not to date him and potentially ruin their friendship. They can’t deny their attraction to each other, but is it enough to want to overcome all these barriers to a relationship?

Bertie has been essentially her bestie since middle school. Rule #1 from Bertie is that KeKe cannot like her little brother Petey.

When KeKe shows up to work at the Summer Camp at the Campground, she thinks the tall good looking guy is hot. Turns out he is younger brother Pete, and at over six foot tall, no longer so little. Also not happy to work for and with his family at the Campground, and hoping it is for the last time.

Pete has a shot at selling one of his apps, and working at a big gaming company. But first he wants to learn a bit more about romance. Who better to teach him than his long time crush?

Lots of secrets blow up throughout the long hot summer. Family illness, other romantic interests with some hurt feelings, big job prospects - an intense and emotional family drama and romance.

This is book one in the Sisters of Springfield series. Keke is Pete's childhood crush, Pete is Keke's best friend's brother and the rules are they aren't supposed to fall for each other. But are some rules meant to be broken? This is a fun and enjoyable read, a sweet romance, and a good story line. The story kept my interest and was fun to read.

Enjoyable Story

This updated version of Best Friend's Brother is really great! In our culture, we don't "accept" stories where the woman is older very well. Three years isn't a very big difference. Maybe books like this with help change perceptions. Keke is a bit... hmm... not sure how to describe her, but Pete is adorable. The relationship between them is really cute. Good book.

A sweet romance about "Keke" and her best friend's brother, Pete, who has certainly changed since she last saw him. I have always enjoyed the books by this author, but this was not one of my favorites. After reading some reviews, it seems that this was originally published under a different name. It isn't one that I had read before, but it is a very easy to read, clean, and sweet romance. The characters fall into the love-hate catagory.

An entertaining sweet best friends brother romance.  This enjoyable storyline had me engaged from the start with a forbidden type reunion. It includes drama, difficult fathers, family issues, business problems all sometimes getting intense but still a fun read holding my interest throughout. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.

Language: G (o+ swears, 0+ "f"); Mature Content: PG (hand holding and kissing); Violence: PG (emotional abuse)
This story wasn't bad, just boring. I didn't feel engaged with the characters, and, when I realized I lost interest in what they were going to do next (about halfway through), I stopped reading.

The H & h are so immature at the start, but we soon find that they've had to deal with some heavy issues.

It was all great until the end where he turns into the wasteful billionaire-romance caricature that I hate. You know, buying multiple cars, homes, a plane and helicopter.... Typical "rich people aren't real people" fodder.

Best friends little brother, a failing camp and an audition that could change Keke's life, this summer is gonna define so much for her and Pete.
I'm still undecided about this one.

This story is as sweet as the title promises. Yet, somehow it still tackles death, depression, low-self-esteem, and verbal abuse. It was deep without being too heavy. I couldn’t put it down.
