From the Wall Street Journal and Amazon #1 bestselling authors of Zodiac Academy, Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti
The cold-hearted vampire prince rules America now. And this is the United States of goddamn hell.
There’s only one way out of the blood farm my twin sister and I are enslaved to.
The Testing.
No one knows what happens to those who pass, and I fear being chosen even more than I fear staying in this place, waiting for the day they decide to drain me.
Some say the ones who pass their test are given to the vampire royals as playthings. Their cruelty is only rivalled by their beauty, so their castle isn’t a place I ever want to be taken.
One thing is certain in this hell we grew up in - we need to escape before we’re tested.
But the royal soldiers just arrived. And I fear our time is already up. This is a slow-burn paranormal romance with lots of action, strong female leads and alpha males. The steaminess increased later in the series.

This book series was like trying to mix GOT with DC with MU with LOTR with every other popular vamp love story out there. There was an original thumbprint but lacked lore coherence and tried WAY too hard with the "tone" of the texts. It was obvious they were trying to do the relatable mixed with the realm of the Gods type speaking and it fell flat.
I was able to fall in love with magnar and callie. I also ended up loving Montana and erik.
But I found myself saying, "OH MUH GAWD TOO MANY WORDS" so much that I couldn't give this more stars. My goodness the run on sentences, and then rambling, overwhelmed the mind. I reread paragraphs at a time just trying to make sense of it.
And then the worst sin of all was the stolen power of words. There would be an amazing moment and then the author would explain and I found myself skipping portions of text to keep from ruining the moment.
So unique but where is the editor in this, did they read it out loud, and who In heaven's name is their English teacher?
I have so many thoughts on Callie and Montana’s journey that I almost don’t know where to start. First, I’m so glad that this series was sold together because it read like an epic saga that you just couldn’t put down. The world building, the mythology, the character arcs were all brilliant and well-written. I was hooked from the first couple chapters in book one and I don’t think I slept more than 8 hours in the 6ish days it took me to read them—the books are THAT good. I’m definitely a huge fan of the authors but I’d been so wrapped up in the world of Solaria’s and Sinner’s Bay from their other series that I never got around to reading this one. But OMG am I glad I sat down to finally read. Beautiful story. Beautiful characters (hello Erik and Magnar) and I’m so sad so see them go! I need an epilogue or something. Now to come down from this book high I’m on. Great read!! One-click for sure.
Awesome boxed set!! One of the best series this year!!
Eternal Reign (Age of Vampires book 1) Love this series so much!! This series started out nonstop action, and was impossible to put down. The future world, where the humans who remain are treated worse than cattle and the vampires like royalty is so insane and it sucks you in immediately and does not let go. Two twin sisters begin two very different paths as one is forced into the life of the vampires and the other is led on a path of the slayers, who were thought to be exterminated over a thousand years ago.
I cannot wait to read what happens next!! Total must read of the year!!
Eternal Shade (Age of Vampires book 2) Love this series! It’s impossible to put down!! This series is amazing, nonstop action!! Once it hooks it’s claws and fangs into you, it doesn’t release you until the end, when it spits you out shouting, “No! It can’t be over yet!!!”
This book continues the story of the two twin sisters, each living two different nightmares, one of a slayer and one with the vampires. We learn some of the history of the prophecy that will break the vampire curse, of the four vampire royalty’s beginnings, and of Magnar, the slayer who slept 1,000 years to fulfill his role of destroying the undead once and for all.
This is one of the best series of vampires I’ve read in a while and it left me yearning to find out what happens next. So much suspense and so much depth to the storyline! I cannot wait to continue!!!
Eternal Curse (Age of Vampires book 3) One of the best vampire stories!!!! This series is so amazing! Two twin sisters have to face insurmountable odds, both facing very different paths, both with slayer blood running through their veins. The story is nonstop action as the two remaining slayers of the old world battle against the vampires and the vampires continue to try to find a way to break their curse. It is impossible to put this story down and as one book ends it leaves you needing more! I cannot wait to find out what happens next! A must read vampire story!
Eternal Vow (Age of Vampires book 4) A must read series!!! Amazing times infinity!!! This book was so amazing! This series just continues to get better and better with each addition! In this book, Callie and Montana are reunited and both both to vampires, but only Montana truly wishes to be. As the two sisters are reunited, one bound and in love with a vampire and the other bound to a vampire but in love with a slayer, the plot just continues to thicken.
This book is nonstop. I love the jumps back in forth from the past to now as both groups try to destroy the other and the sisters and slayers also try to decipher the prophecy. Will Montana have to be turned to set the prophecy in motion? Will her and Callie end up on opposite sides in this millennia old war between slayers and vampires? If you love vampire stories you absolutely have to read this story! It makes you feel for both sides of the war and is just incredible! These sisters write gold together!!!
Eternal Night (Age of Vampires book 5) Love those series! So addicting!!! Omg!!! This book was even better than the last and I did not think that was possible. The slayers and royal vampires finally join together and try to thwart the God’s menacing manipulations and Valentina’s rise to power. Years of being mortal enemies make this a tough alliance, but when Valentina captures Erik and Magnar, the two twin sisters will stop at nothing to get them back!
I can’t wait for the next book! I need it now!! One of the best series I’ve ever read!! Love this collaboration!!
Eternal Storm (Age of Vampires book 6) OMG!! That ending!!! This series just continues to get better and better with every new book that comes out! I am going to be on pins and needles until the next one! One of the best vampire/hunter/gods and goddesses series! A must read!
Eternal Love (Age of Vampires book 7) Love love love this series!!! Perfect ending to an amazing story of adventure, strife, beating impossible odds and finding true love and happiness. This series has been one of the best I’ve read this year and it was so amazing. The vampires and the slayers endured so much at the hands of the gods and I couldn’t think of a better ending for them and the gods than the one this delivered.
This was such an amazing series! I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of Montoya and Callie as they learn to survive in this dangerous dystopian world under the Belvedere Vampire's reign!
The series hooked me from the start! It was well paced, beautifully detailed, romantic and exciting! I really enjoyed the format in which the Authors flowed between the past histories of the characters and the present storylines, it was very smooth. Personally, I feel that they could have done a little more with book6 and the direction of the storyline there, but jumping into book7 was completely worthwhile!! Those Gods sure tried my patience though, but what do expect from such omnipotent beings?
Thank you for writing such a captivating series!! I look forward to reading more of your collaborative works.
I was expecting a lot of extra crap and inner monologues like in The Academy one with the Vega twins, but it was actually well written without all the extra fluff chapters.
My only real complaint was the ending because it didn’t make sense.
***SPOILER*** So when the curse was broken, the vampires guarding the realms were returned to being human. Since the group of heroes were also human, it took them a least a week or more to return to NY from Florida, on foot, with numerous stops along the way to eat, rest etc. Why didn’t the humans in the realms overthrow the vampire humans in that time? I’m sure that some had guns, but there had to be more humans than vampire humans in each realm. And even then, why did they continue to keep them contained? They no longer need them as a food source. They were the same, all needed actual food for nourishment when the curse was broken. But somehow, none of that was considered in the ending and the Belvedere’s resumed rule when they returned with no war or backlash, like none of the humans had animosity towards them for twenty years or so of suffering. Also, Valentina had said that she was going to release the people of the realms for hunting, which she had ample time to do since all she had to do was send word for them to open the gates while she was hunting the group. I’m glad she didn’t, but it doesn’t make sense why she hadn’t yet, … or how she found the holy mountain when the twins said that only they could see it…
Anyway, pretty good read if you look over the small discrepancies towards the end.
See my notes, highlights and commentary on Goodreads. Happy reading!
My rating just keeps getting lower and lower. GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT!!! They go from saying "Magnar didn't know how to be a mentor, because he has never been one before and then they tell about how he was a mentor for a girl they took from a bad engagement and she controlled water. So... which is it? Then there is when Eric tells her he sealed himself away for 200 years in a cave. Later she askes.... Or had he chained himself and leapt into the sea so that he couldn’t go back on his decision? OMG!!! Now, they can't stop the fight, because apparently they forgot there are workarounds to the commands... Like her sister could put the ring on her to override his command!!! She could have thrown a fit and threw out the log and then later sneak away, but no let's be obvious, and then just give up. They are too stupid to be the saviors.... And it just keeps going on and on.... I have skipped parts already and now at 50% I think I may need to put this book to rest....
This is my "pandemic" read. It has been a great companion to curl up with in my recliner with my favorite fuzzy blanket and my cat! I don't want to give anything away about the book but I will say that I really enjoy how the authors use time jumping and first-person writing to give the reader insight into different aspects of the characters.
I was expecting this to be just another "vampire romance" sort of series but have been pleasantly surprised that it isn't just about the emotions of the characters (there is romance- don't worry!) but also about things like magic and a world lore that is really thought out!
I can't wait to see what the characters do to resolve the conflicts going on in their world while I strive to forget the stuff going on in my own. :)
I really liked this series. I liked the main characters and how they developed in separate threads but came together in the end. I could have done with about the equivalent of one less book. There were two of three times I felt the "MCs face off against MVs and nearly defeat them but the MVs happen to barely escape at the last moment" was overdone. I skipped through a lot of the fight scenes/battles in the later books because they were too redundant and verbose. Less could have been more in those instances. I stuck with the series to the end out of pure "I've read this much and I need to know how it ends" feelings. Do I feel like the overall storyline was good? Yes. Do I feel like the characters were well-written? Yes. Would I read the series again? Probably not.
There may have been one too many physical battles (in aggregate across all of the books) for my particular liking but everything worked. Really, really worked. It’s rare to find a completed series that answered every question and tied up all loose ends properly and provided a hard won, believable HEA.
I read this after getting through the current books in the Zodiac series as I was craving more from these great writers.
A bonus was reading the final note from the authors which explained a lot about how these books (and probably other series) were (are) written.
Now I have to wait impatiently for the next Zodiac Academy installment... ☹️
This story was began originally and had all the promise of success - enemy to lover romance, Vikings turned Vampires, Slayers, Gods etc.
This series started really well, but after the 3rd book it became quite boring, it felt like the story was dragged out and each of the main female characters had long wallowing moments of self reflection- weirdly, I also felt like the writing itself deteriorated.
I'd give the first 3 books 3 stars, and the 4th book 2 stars, I didn't end up finishing the final installment, it's unfortunate because I really enjoyed the romance between one of the couples but overall it just didn't do it for me.
The series is really good, it just it keeps going on and on and on. Several times it could have ended but it push even longer. Sometimes that's great, but not this time. I ended up skipping pages because it became so long winded and yeah boring. I absolutely hated that the swords and knives could talk. That was the most stupid thing to do with the book. Just that nearly stopped me from finishing the books. So if you skip the useless pages and tried to ignore the the talking knives, its great series. No, I won't read anymore of her books just because I'm afraid more objects will talk.
Now, I truly understand what it means when people state the story was dragged out more than it needed to be. Holy. Cow. This story should have been three books - the longest. I'm not sure agar the reasoning was to drag it out as long as it did because it felt like 70% of the story were fillers. I bought this bundle when it was on sale. I'm glad I did because I never would've bought the series. I promise it's not worth spending your hard earned money to. I did see the story has been re-released with new covers and possibly edits - nope. It's totally not worth it. Ayayay.... never again.
So glad I brought this book set. Montana and Callie. Humans in a vampire world. Trapped in a realm of hunger and fear. Escape is their only chance. Destined to be together with her sworn enemy Montana finds a side to Erik she never thought possible. Callie finds hope in a slayer and vows to end the vampire reign. Such a fantastic journey taken through this series. Loved every book. The journey each character takes is amazing. I highly recommend this set.
I only picked up this series because it was free on kindle unlimited and now I am searching everywhere for the box set. I've only made it to book four, but I haven't been able to put it down since I started it; reading for five+ hours at a time when I should be sleeping or working. It's a beautiful story of good vs. evil, love and hate, prophecies and curses. I don't recommend this for younger teens as it can get a bit steamy and there are several f bombs dropped, but other wise it's an easy, intriguing, satisfying read. Enjoy!
I was looking for a book to read and these authors are on the top of my favorite list, but vampires are not really my thing. So I got a sample read and I was hooked on the first page! I read all 7 books in less than a week. The story line is unique, the main characters believable and likable, the bad guys deplorable and the twists and turns surprising. I’ve read allot of their books, and I have to say this was my favorite series. (Even over Zodiac Academy.) Highly recommend to readers of fantasy novels.
I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters and how they came together. I am glad that everything worked out for both Callie and Montana and the friends they made along this journey as they both fell in love with great guys.I was sad that Eric's brother Miles and husband didn't make it so they could have been together in their new empire that they all created.
I did enjoy this book and loved the characters. World building was good especially the past. I did have an issue with one of the chapters in the last book where POV of the twins was switched in funny way. Montana was bitten by a viper and Callie carried her away from the fight but then the next paragraph saw Montana in the fight worrying about Callie that was bitten. That was confusing. Anyway, I loved the story
This book series takes you on a journey you won't expect. There is everything in it. I can't describe how often I wished that some things didn't come that way or the characters had to endure but in the end it shaped them in some way. But honestly: I went totally on a rollercoaster ride here. After this series, I really needed some comfort romance books.
And this is a book about Vampires, humans, Gods and Slayers.
I couldn’t put this book down, I lost an entire week completely immersed in this story. I didn’t want it to end and I’m now stuck with an immense ‘book hangover’ and I can’t find anything even remotely as good to read. Great story, great characters and there was not a single moment that I wanted to speed read through, which is probably a first for me. I’d recommend it to anyone
A group of young warriors are cursed because of their parents and turned into vampires by a diety . To be turned back into mortals they have to break the Charlotte did they know it would take thousands of years. In the process another group of warriors become slayers that are the enemies of the vampires. But the curse can only be broken by a set of sisters that the gods refer to as the sun and moon
This series had just about every in it. Really enjoyed that it wasn't boom bam, everything settled. I LOVED one couple, while the other tended to annoy me (hence 4.5) and I tended to speed through a lot of their parts (making sure I didn't missed anything important) but reading at the end the sisters each wrote one couple....I know understand. One's style moved with me more.
I love the intertwined storyline of the 4 main characters. Callie is a bad ass warrior but Montana is the quiet bad ass. Things you do for love!
I read all 7 books in one go, every bit of downtime I enjoyed with this book series.
I’m going to miss Eric, Magnar, Callie and Montana but I’m definitely going to miss Julius!! His character cracked me up in loud laughter more than once!
Truly in the top 5 vampire series I've ever read. And I read a LOT! The characters and storyline evolved at a pace that kept me enthralled. I fell in love with the people in this series. I cried, hurt, laughed and suffered and rejoiced with them. Hated for it to end. P.S. The sex scenes were written in such a way I'd be comfortable keyring my 13 yr old read them
This series is addictive. It has a bit of elements from multiple genres from Norse mythology, dystopian society to supernatural romance. A journey of twins as different as night and day, but just as tethered, will leave you wanting to read the entirety in one sitting. The writing in Age of Vampires is so well done, you will catch the feels for sure.
This series kept my attention throughout. The different POVs made it very enjoyable. Getting to know the characters so well from their past to the present lent this series something unique. So well written I found myself feeling strong emotions towards certain characters and situations having to remind myself it was fiction. Very fun read overall. Highly recommend
I don’t write reviews often, but I had to for this one. I was entirely enthralled the entire series. It’s a very fast read if you want it to be, but I enjoyed the characters and their relationships so thoroughly I read this entire series over a month and a half. I’m half-tempted to read it again just to enjoy the world all over again. Amazing, highly recommend.
These books have a little bit of everything love, hope, desire, family, war, peace, friendship, and sadness. Love the story lines and the characters. Really couldn’t put the series down. It had a movie playing in my head as I read the story. Truly loved it!!
