All three books of the Obedience Training series in one bundle! Obedience Training Nathan’s failed at everything he’s tried to school, work, relationships. When he’s picked up in a coffee shop with the promise of a spanking, he figures he has nothing to lose. But life with Daniel tests his will and his nerve. Can Daniel lure him in with the promise of something more, or will Nathan resist his attempts to train him to obedience? Obedience Training 2: Bound Nathan wants what Daniel's giving him, but he can't help but resist at every turn. He no longer know where their arrangement stops and their relationship begins—if there even is a relationship. Can Nathan figure out what he wants? And even more, what Daniel is willing to give? Obedience Training 3: Broken Nathan and Daniel have a second chance to make things work, but Nathan wants more than just the kink. How can Daniel prove to Nathan that his feelings for him are real?
Arden Chase lives on the east coast of the U.S. with a demanding cat and a vivid imagination. She writes the kind of romance and erotica she likes to read: mostly m/m, mostly kink, and always devious.
Nathan, 28, is approached by Daniel in a café after losing yet another job. Nathan just doesn't feel like he's cut out for the professional world and has struggled to get his life together. Daniel, upfront and commanding from the beginning, suggests Nathan might need a spanking and then invites him to stay at his home until he gets back on his feet.
Nathan has no idea what he wants and reluctantly goes with the flow. He is somewhat resistant for a fair bit of this - I wouldn't call it dub-con though, it's more like he's fighting with his own desires.
Daniel is experienced with kink, but hasn’t had quite such a regular partner before and dives in too quickly. I was initially a bit put off by the lack of negotiation, but that’s actually sort of the whole point and they get there in the end and have a nice, explicit conversation about their dynamic.
It's ironic that Daniel insists so much on communication but entirely failed to communicate himself.
This has a great variety of scenes and I found it all to be quite well-written. There were even a couple things I hadn't read before, like the at the start of book 2, or the .
Wow, I really enjoyed this. Nathan gets picked up by Daniel after being fired for the third time in a year. He’s 28 years old and can’t seem to find any direction in his life. Daniel helps him to find himself though BDSM. This book is very kinky and I loved that, but it’s also a love story and I loved that too.
This is a series of three short story books combined into one bundle. Not sure why they weren’t written as one regular length book. I think the three stories could have been woven into an even better long book. I'm torn between 3.5 and 4 stars. I think the first story was close to 4 stars. The second was 3.5 stars and the third story was 3 stars.
In the first story, you have to be willing to accept the premise that the main character immediately goes home with a stranger that he just met in a coffee shop. If you buy into that, then the rest of the short story is interesting. I thought it was written better than most short stories in this genre, but more editing was needed due to typos. In the second and third stories, I didn’t buy into Daniel not understanding what Nathan wanted. He couldn’t be that dense especially after Nathan left.
The author indicates that there might be another story coming in the future with these characters. If so, I would read it.
