Edith Livingston Grayson can hardly wait to shake the dust of Sweetwater Springs, Montana from her silk skirts. Finally her exile to the small prairie town is over. She is returning home to Boston with her son Ben. Home to society. Home to educated, upper-class people. Home to the ocean. She can’t wait to attend cultured entertainments, shop in exclusive stores, sail in the harbor, and use indoor plumbing—well, her brother’s home in Sweetwater Springs had indoor plumbing--but most of the town did not!
But Edith’s triumphant return is not at all what she dreamed. She finds Boston society isn’t the same. Or rather, she isn’t the same. For she’s left a piece of her heart in Sweetwater Springs.
Yet, her son’s family is in Boston, and Ben will inherit their business. The kind of cultured, sophisticated men she’s interested in are in Boston. Indoor plumbing is in Boston—or at least the part of the city she frequents.
Worst of all, Edith can’t help thinking of the rugged rancher she left behind—exactly the kind of man she doesn’t want, even if he does make her laugh. Cai Driscoll is bold, unpretentious, and firmly planted in the land of Montana.
Edith resolves to put Cai out of her heart and find happiness beyond Montana’s sky. She almost succeeds, until her rancher comes to Boston and challenges everything she believes is important.
Beyond Montana Sky by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Debra Holland is historical romance at its best—a warm, uplifting story of new love and second chances.

Beyond Montana Sky by Debra Holland Book 10 of the Montana Sky series. Historical sweet romance. Best read as part of the series in order to appreciate the overall arc. Edith’s story. For fans of the series, Edith is not the same woman that came to live in Sweetwater Springs. It’s her turn to find love, and no one realizes how much she’s changed more than Edith herself.
Sweetwater Springs and its residents near and far, have been good to and for Edith and her son Ben. Coming from Boston it took them awhile to appreciate the beauty and weather of Montana but the people were always friendly and helpful. Indoor plumbing and nearby neighbors may be scarce, but that’s no excuse for forgetting your manners. Or proprietary. Edith and Ben must now move back to Boston so he can learn the family business. Neither will find Boston as they left it.
A lovely and heartwarming romance and overall personification of Edith. She’s created deep friendships and an understanding of social discrepancies she never would have appreciated before Sweetwater Springs. It’s so poignant that she found her love and happy ever after. I truly love this darling and loving historical series.
Every book in this sweet historical romance series is wonderful. Debra Holland is an absolute star in this genre and Beyond Montana's Sky is just one more proof of her talent. I have enjoyed watching Edith evolve through the last few books and was happy to see that change continue as she gets her own romance with a man she wouldn't have looked at only a year earlier. While the book is sex free, the chemistry between Edith and Cai is strong We have not met Cai Driscoll before but he is just the kind of man we expect to meet in the Montana Sky series. Grief and a smothered since of humor is a common denominator for these opposites but there is a sexual draw that Edith can't resist anymore than she can resist the way he draws out the person she hasn't been for years. Unfortunately, she has committed to returning to Boston about the time she meets him. That hasn't stopped any of our Montana Sky mean and isn't likely to stop Cai. The wedding of Maggie and Caleb is icing on the cake of Beyond Montana's Sky.
I love series stories from late 1800's set in small towns. This is my favorite series in this genre. Set in Sweetwater Springs, Montana, readers have been treated to many interesting characters and one in particular is Edith Grayson, sister to the banker, Caleb. Edith is from Boston and brought judgemental upper class snottiness with her. Now that she's been in Sweetwater Springs for 5 years she is seeing people differently and doing a lot of soul searching and having quite a bit of self realization about changes in her attitude. Much of these thoughts are triggered by a man named Cai Driscoll. Cai has a ranch with many friends -almost -family collectively called the Andersons. There's a lot of interesting introspection from both Edith and Cai, good solid information about their backgrounds and realizations about the person each wants to be in the future.Debra came up with an interesting and atypical ending. Moreover, I am thrilled to read she is planning future Sweetwater Springs stories including more about the Andersons.
This book transports the reader to a different time, there are are nuggets all through the narrative that are like walking through a historical house. The main characters are delightful as was the case with previous Montana Sky books written by Debra Holland. Each of the 'Sky' books are complete and previous characters are a part of this story... Truthfully I don't want these stories to end, perhaps it's time for the next generation story, like Ben's story, whatever Debra's 'Sky' story is I'll be reading it!
This is a book filled with many emotions. Piano playing - my tears; the banter - my joy; and, the story-line was perfection. We fans have waited a long time for this book as aristocratic Edith Grayson, with her “too tight” corset, has been the misery for many. Now, rancher Cai Driscoll has come into her life and all things tilted. I smiled as Charlotte grabbed the hearts of all she met. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend everyone take the time to read this great story.
I really have enjoyed every book in this series. I like the way the author developed the characters and story lines. I can see Sweetwater springs and I feel like I know the people who live there. It's always a joy to read what everyone is up to along with meeting new people to fall in love with. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series. You won't be disappointed.
I have disliked Edith Livingston Grayson and her son Ben from the moment that they entered the series in Wild Montana Sky. Although I had warmed up to Ben, Edith was another matter. Needless to say, I was not the least bit optimistic about her story. I should have had more faith in the author. I was truly humbled after reading this story. This was a reminder that grief can really affect a person deeply. Thankfully, time, people and experiences helped heal Edith.
I have absolutely loved all the books in this series, but Cai is definitely my favorite of all! His charisma and especially how he found laughter in her prickly moments was priceless! Their first meeting is high on my top ten best first meets list! And who could forget the lovable Farfar and Mormor! They're just awesome and wise influences in Cai's life! You must read this book!
I keep giving the same reviews, but, this series is that good! Who would ever have thought that lovely but haughty Edith could have a loving heart. This book has been like all the other Sweetwater Springs novels, a delight to read. Loved Edith, Cai, Ben, and all the characters. I highly recommend this book.
I’ve been waiting for Edith’s story for so long, and I was not disappointed! Debra Holland did it again. Wonderful sweet story continuing the Montana Sky Series.
I have patiently waited for the release of Beyond Montana’s Sky, and it did not disappoint. Revisiting Sweetwater Springs was like visiting dear friends. Witnessing the growth in Edith was refreshing. I highly recommend this book!
So glad we were able to know Edith's story. Her adventures in Sweetwater and in Boston- finding herself and healing from her losses.Then- surprise- a new love story for Edith. Loved this book!
Love this book. Looking forward to read the Wedding, the traveling, and how the Boston family life played out in the west. Please don't make this to sad I would have liked to meet Via sister. I 've read all the series in Montana Sky.
A visit to Montana for her brother's wedding, brings love to her closed up heart. Returning back to the parents of her late husband in Boston; she longs for the open skies and a cowboy.
It's a lovely story about two people who have second chance at happiness. It tells us you don't have to be young to make foolish mistakes. I do like the ending and I do enjoy continuing stories bout interesting people.
I wasn't eager to read this one, who wants to go to Boston to fall in love? After reading part of it I was drawn in just like all the rest by this author! I also realized I had missed one! Back to read#9!
An example of learning different perceptions of society’s levels of status. Eastern society learned that joy and happiness can supersede old conventional behaviors.
Didn't want to stop reading this book. Interesting and humorous! I would definitely recommend this author, and will read more of her works in the near future!
Finally Edith gets a chance of finding a beau, but he has to teach her how to write a letter first!
She promised him she'd write! But that had to be the shortest letter/missive in history! Sparks flew when they first met. But just because she had to move her and her son back to Boston due to a death plus her son is the only one left next in line to take over the family business (he's almost 17 years old)! Up to this point the Bostonian family had totally disowned them and that's why they were living in Montana but she still wrote letters to them about Ben even after Edith became a widow and she never heard from them until recently that makes Ben #1!
Edith and Cai don't have much time together, or chance to get to know each other before the move happens. She does start writing decent letters however! This seems impossible to them! But Can't grandmother sees ways it'll work and convinces him to go to Boston for however long it takes and court her proper! Cai is special character, he'll make you'll laugh and cry too,and he's one of those special cowboys that comes along once in a blue moon! Wonderfully written! Great Read!
I enjoyed this story about Edith. I knew she wasn't as snooty since Dellia's lineage had been revealed since the town accepted her. Happy to know she had a positive affect on her former in-laws. Now I hope we learn Julie & her girls learn the joy of the West plus love. I hope a new story will include Andre & Miss Collier's wedding with Caleb & Maggie's new addition. Of course, Pastors Norton others learn the joy of seeing others of varying stations of life. Yes, the wedding of Constance & e Angus's brother. Of course, New babies & celebrations maybe come Nowhere brides visiting for a reunion.
