When a demon murdered her parents on the night of her 15th birthday and her own mortal life was stolen, Sahara had no choice but to become strong and independent, fast. Her anger forced her on a quest for vengeance, which led the raven haired beauty to find her calling, that of a first-rate, immortal private detective. She worked alone, answering to no one. Then she met the very handsome Ben Taylor, a grieving brother who wanted justice for the death of his twin, murdered in an eerily familiar fashion. But, in finding the killer, would she also lose her heart? A must-read novel full of supernatural intrigue, and passionate romance, that will leave you hungry for the next installment of Vampire Vigilante Justice!
A great read but the fact that Hector is still loose rankles. What was he hoping to gain? A great plot covering witches, warlocks, the fae, shifters, a demon, a very determined vampire and a threat that has been in the making for years. Loved the characters from the overwhelmed hero who wants revenge for the death of his twin brother to the emotionally cut off heroine who was turned into a vampire and her parents killed by a demon on her 15th birthday. The new job is outside her comfort zone but against her better judgment she still takes it. It sounds very much like the death of her parents but surely the demon hasn't returned already. Her investigation with a fae and a witch leads her to the conclusion that the demon is back and he's killing around two people a day. Why? What is the common link? It's only after getting closer to the brother (much, much closer) that they work out what the common denominator is. They all have magical blood in their families. Working with the fae, she goes to ask and warn the families of the dangers. The demon is raising an army, an army to take over! There is only one snag - she's been kidnapped! Will the others work out where she is? Even if they do, will they be strong enough to take on the demon?
I find myself of two different minds while reading this work. The overall plot was imaginative and entertaining, populated with unique characters. The book was written well, for the most part. I do admit that the first chapter left me unable to form a rhythm in reading, due to what I felt was a maze of adjectives. The rest was much better but generally relied on serious use of exposition to tell the story. For all the bounty of speaking there was very little action. I do commend the author for a very tidy love scene, those are a struggle to concoct. The best of everything syndrome is apparent , which I despise, but that is a pet peeve of mine and may not offend others. The protagonists are never in much danger because they have, and are 'the best of everything '. The major complaint I have is the thought of intercourse with a room temperature anything. For the excess exposition, the BOES, and my necrophilia-phobia I have to give this 3 stars.
As an author of fiction myself, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It laid the foundation for what’s to come. Well-written with plenty of action and just enough lust. The sex scene was exquisite and well planned out. I love Sahara’s personality and the thought put into her character. It was a fun twist on typical vampire fiction. Definitely will read more from this author!
3.8 stars the books plots takes several twists and suspension which leave readers anxious to know what’s happens next.Elizabeth the author style of writing is of its own way.
