This book is a fast pace middle grade book, and this is the first book in the Evie Everyday Witch series. That is about a witch name Evie Everyday who just wants to be normal. There is a underlined massage in the book that is it is never good to change yourself to fit in. I love the message and the book is very cute and fun. I ordered a paper copy of this book for my daughter because I loved it so much. I may also get a copy for my daughter's school library. I think this book is good for kids 7 and up, but I think the best age for this book is 7 to about 13. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via booksirens in exchange for an honest review.

This was so very funny. The kids begged me to read on instead of saving chapters for other bedtimes. We laughed out loud so much. We can’t wait to read more adventures.

So right off the bat, the reason I chose to read and review this book is because of the cover. It reminded me of the show I used to watch a long while ago, Sabrina the Teenage Witch (yes there is a more darker version on Netflix that I also have watched and loved, and hope for another season soon). But yea the teenager has blonde hair, has a black cat, and just the vibe it gave off seemed interesting enough to check it out.

Book starts out well, describes the current situation of Evie Everyday (have to say that last name selection was very weird to me) and it tells what she wants to do, but hasn't been able to. The story starts when she is in 5th grade but it doesn't give a lot of details there, it is when she goes to the 6th grade and starts her new school that it starts. The girls cat name....is just what a child might name one lol. The name Evie comes up with for "normal people" kind of seems weird, but is a different word that children could laugh at and agree.

Every few pages had a cute small design that was interesting to see. I think many children would enjoy seeing them.

It's a cute story line that I think children would enjoy (personally I think it will appeal more to the girls than the boys, but then again, some boy aren't all into the same things)

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Evie is your typical sixth grader and all she wants is to be normal like the rest of the kids. There’s just one problem though. She’s a witch. And witches do not attend the regular school because they go to a special school for witches, of course.

Somehow Evie manages to convince her parents to let her go to the local school. All she wants to do is be normal. But things don’t go quite as she plans and things becomes anything but normal.

This is a really cute story. I think kids with an otherworldly imagination will definitely enjoy this series. I found Evie’s classmates and even her teacher in the regular school to be almost too mean to her and Mrs. Rogers is downright evil. But all this does allow her to become her best self, along with her “friends” she brought with her in her backpack.. I look forward to reading the next book.

Thank you BookSirens for the free copy of this ebook to read and review.

This is a middle grade children's book, aimed at pupils who are at least 7 years old. It is told from the point of view of Evie Everyday who is a witch who would rather be normal and go to a 'normal' school rather than a magical one. She gets her wish when her parents move to a new town . . . . but maybe things there aren't quite as normal as she hoped! The whole town seems to lack colour, and even the young students all except one dress in black. That one exception is Izzy, a friendly, colourful and completely different to everyone else. The school principal is Mrs Rogers and she seems to know just what Evie wants, though taking and keeping Evie's backpack with her magic wand and magical pets then not letting her have them back could be suspicious! Mrs Rogers also warns Evie to keep well away from Izzy . . . Just what is going on? You'll have to read it for yourself to find out!

This is a very different take on a magical adventure, with quirky characters, dilemmas on following your instincts competing with the desire to fit in, even when you sense something is wrong. It is a chapter book that is a fun read and has an important message about being true to yourself and your beliefs underlying the story. I suspect children will thoroughly engage with the story and the illustrations add to its appeal. I look forward to reading more books in this series in future and recommend teachers and parents check this book out if they think their children will enjoy it, too.

Thank you the the publishers and Book Sirens for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

Always Sparkle

In a world full of Lamron's always sparkle. Things are not always as they seem, that's an understatement when it comes to Evie attending a new school. Normal shouldn't be so bland but 3veryday Evie is trying to hard to be in the Lamron spectrum. Meeting new people is never easy. But fitting in shouldn't be so hard. Or should it. Things seem to be falling into place but at what cost? The ups and downs are evident when Evie keeps being called into the office. There are so many things that should be setting off alarms but wanting to fit in is making Evie easily blinded. I would rather have my close friends then to have to hide my popcorn.

In a cute and quaint read this book is perfect for a tween trying to figure out where they fit in. The perfect little cozy mystery read. For myself at 41, ai was like, "HELLO THE WRITING IS IN THE WALLS!" But for a tween it will keep them in their toes. Give a few giggles and teach a little bit of a moral in being who you are always.

This is a cute series that is perfect for 7-11-year-olds. Evie is a witch who doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of her witch classmates and all she has ever wanted to be is normal. So when her parents move to a new town, she begs to attend the "normal" school. This book celebrates kids who may be different but are happiest when they embrace who they are. I loved Izzy and found her to be a lot more mature than Evie, but I think she was there to help Evie learn and grow. I was not a huge fan of the rest of her classmates, and the nemesis in this story was downright evil. This book was fun and never boring, and I think it would work very well as a read-aloud. The illustrations were adorable, and I only wish they had all been in color (some were in color). This would be a great story for reluctant readers.

Evie Everyday is an adorable character! She's what I imagine a sixth-grade Sabrina the Teenage Witch would have been like, except way more naive. This girl is super happy all the time and wants nothing more than to be normal. She's a witch, and she wants to be normal.

When Evie starts school at a normal middle school, she meets Izzy. Izzy is a normal girl who would love to be a witch. She's bright and colorful in a drab, black world. Everything is literally black in the entire town. And black is the new popular color for all the kids at Evie's new school. If she wants to fit in, she's going to have to ditch the super-colorful outfit and lifestyle she's been living.

While I understand that middle-grade books are intended to have very little parental involvement (so kids can figure out how to be on their own), I was surprised that Evie's parents really didn't notice ANYTHING that was going on - either with her or the entire town.

As an adult, I flew through this book in one afternoon. I've also started re-reading it to my 6-year-old and he's enjoying it immensely! The little drawings throughout the book are so cute and give you a little bit of a visual representation for Mrs. Rogers (the evil principal) and some of Evie's little magical companions.

Definitely a book I would recommend! I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

All she wants is to be a "normal" kid going to a "normal" school. But for Evie the Everyday Witch, fitting in isn’t easy. At Pergoria, her witch school, all her classmates made fun of her and she didn’t have a single friend. Then she moved to Wyndermere, and her parents finally let her go to the local school. Evie gets her chance to be an "everyday" kid, but it isn’t easy. While Evie shows up to the first day of sixth grade wearing her bright colored clothing (especially notable are her sparkly orange-and-pink striped stockings), she realizes that the whole school is wearing black!

Then she meets Izzy, the only other student in the school with a bubbly personality and colorful clothing to match. Izzy befriends Evie and encourages her to let her bright personality shine. But Evie has a problem: she can’t hope to be popular if she hangs out with Izzy, the biggest misfit in the entire school! Evie soon finds herself abandoning her first friend for the respect and adoration of the rest of her peers. Will Evie ever learn to embrace her true personality? Will she be able to balance being a witch with her obsession for being "normal"?

Opinion:
Secret Magic, the first book in the Evie The Everyday Witch series by Elena Paige is a fast, fun read that teaches an important lesson. One thing that makes this book special is how Evie sometimes breaks from simply narrating her story and starts "conversing" with the reader - addressing them directly and even asking them questions. I believe that this will help young and/or reluctant readers to connect with Evie’s story.

This story flips the traditional fairy-tale roles upside-down, giving witches a turn at being the "good guys." I love how Elena Paige uses a contrast between Evie’s sparkly style and the dull personalities of all the "normal" kids to break the stereotype that witches are evil. Young readers can transfer this idea and question other stereotypes they encounter.

Secret Magic will especially appeal to fantasy lovers ages 10 and under but teaches an important lesson that applies to everyone: never try to change yourself for the sake of being like everybody else, because you are the only you in the whole world.

Every child is unique, a universal truth. However, the moment he or she is able to discover the magic within him or her, it becomes priceless. Unfortunately, the very need to be accepted by peer group might hamper the child's development.

The plot revolves around Evie Everyday, a witch who has magical powers within her. But she prefers to change herself and hide her magic so that she is liked by her friends. But does this turn out to be in her favour? Well, to know that please read about Evie in this delightfully wonderful story.

Elena Paige is a writer to look out for because she creates magic in this piece of her writing. The language used caters for the reading needs of 9 to 11 years old children. The writer also uses imageries extensively. These imageries are vivid and appealing. The only major issue I found as I read it out to my 6 year old was that the narrative was a bit jerky. There were breaks which could have been avoided. Despite the discontinuity, the story is really good and very likeable.

Evie Everyday represents the dilemma that a child with a special talent or unique abilities or giftedness goes through. In order to blend in or be accepted by the peer group there is a tendency to try and mask the giftedness behind mediocrity. However, there is a need to teach children to accept themselves or their friends for who they are.

As far as characterisation goes, Evie does stand out. The next one that stands out is Izzy. The others dont succeed in leaving an imprint. Evie and Izzy depict human emotions thereby making them a reflection of reality.

To sum up, Evie Everyday Secret Magic is a book in the series of adventures that Evie Everyday Witch goes through. It is a really likeable and a very good book if you have children to read out to. In case you dont, you can read it to appeal to your inner child as well. The three stars are only because of the jerks in the narration and sudden changes introduced that are a tad distracting.

P.S: Thank you BookSirens for sharing this story with me for free. I have not received nor do I intend to receive monetary benefits in exchange of my review. This review is my honest opinion after reading it.

description (

DISCLAIMER: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

TRIGGER: This is a sweet graphic children book. The story is beautifully told in wonderful illustration.

Meet Evie Everyday, a cute lovable witch who wants to be a normal girl like any of her friends. She went to Pergoria, a witch school, all of her friends made fun of her and she felt lonely because she has no friends. She later moves to Wyndermere, a local school where she wants to become normal like other kids. She does whatever it takes to be a normal kid but it's never been so easy. Evie at first shows up on her first day in bright colour clothing and realised that everyone at school is wearing black.

Evie tries hard to make friends with everybody at school but the only one that welcomes her is Izzy. She always encourages Evie to keep being herself including wearing her bright coloured outfit. So many things happen in that school and Evie's personality is changing. She starts neglecting Izzy and tries hard to befriend others. She even has an idea to hold a party at home without even inviting Izzy.

The end of the story is a little bit unpredictable. I love the twist that Elena Paige brings in the first book of Evie, The Everyday Witch series. The character of Evie is so lovable and as a reader, I am very much engaged with her. Elena Paige's little surprises also give a little bit of kicking in the end of story. The moral of the story is clear: be yourself and be kind to others! It is definitely a book worth reading!

First, I would like to say that I had not taken the time to read a children’s book for quite a long time. I am very happy that I chose this one.

I really liked the design so let’s start with the design:

1. The book cover is the cutest!

2. The images are both so simple and good-looking at the same time.

3. The little stars here and there make the whole reading-process very fun.

4. I loved the spacing between the lines. Usually, children’s book either miss that spacing that is SO important for children to be motivated to read, or they miss good in-depth content. Here, you will have both an easy-to-read page AND a real content.

Now, let’s dive a little bit into the message of the book. We all know that children’s books are important in the development of a child, especially when it comes to self-esteem. The message of this book is simple: be yourself. We follow the story of Evie, a young witch whose dream is to be… a normal girl.

Yes, we would all like to be witches rather than « normal », but she wants to fit in, and each and every child can understand her. Who has never been willing to become « the popular child »? Well, she manages to fit in (more or less) but wearing black or being a little mean sometimes is not her cup of tea. The thing is that now that she is « normal », she understands that being normal is not that cool when « normal » is just not our natural state. Her nature always comes back and she understands that by not being herself, she attracts friends who are actually not a good fit for her. What is she were herself this time?

It's a 3/5 stars book.
I received an advance review copy for free from booksirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I decided to read this book because it was about a witch "Evie Everyday" odd , cute name, also I like the cover and it wasn't too long in order to read and give my review.

The big problem of Evie is that she wants to go to a human school and be normal like the lamron kids but she is a witch with magic power, she might be normal in the the witches world but not in the Lamron's. She is eager to do anything in order to be accepted by the human normal kids even rejecting her true nature and lying to everyone.

It was nice with a moral at the end that could serve kids today. Don't try to be someone else, just be yourself, popularity isn't and won't never be everything in life but how could we teach this to our kids with all these crazyness about followers and likes. People are more obsessed about popularity than before and unlike Evie, they don't want to be seen as normal.

Evie Everday is a good book for our kids for it is about true friendship, honesty and loving being yourself.

It reminded me so much of "Sabrina" and Evie could also be a good program on T.V for kids.

Unfortunately, I don't know if I will have the time to read the other adventures of Evie because I have many other books to read. Thanks to the author for this nice story. The drawings were really nice and I did like them.

Evie Everyday is a witch, and all she wants is to be normal. On her first day at school she meets a girl named Izzy. Izzy is really nice and different from all the rest. Izzy studies witches and harpies (which are enemies), so Izzy knows right away that Evie is a witch. Evie also meets the principal, who wants to “help” her fit in. She gives her a black dress and tells her to stay away from Izzy. Evie stops hanging out with Izzy and slowly becomes popular.
Evie suspects something is up with the principal and the other students. Izzy eventually starts ignoring Evie and stopped coming to school. One day at school the secret gets out that Evie is a witch, and everything changes. Evie - with the help of her cat - start figuring what's going on at school, and she even turns back to Izzy for help. Does their plan work? Does Evie get her wish of being normal? Read the book to find out.
Secret Magic is a good book. In Secret Magic, there's friendships, arguments, and magic. I loved the positive ending of the book. I also loved how real it was -- because every kid wants to fit in, and some struggle just like Evie did. It starts out slow moving, but then there was a lot of action. I would recommend this to 9-11-year-olds who like books about friendship with a magical twist.

What a cute little book this was. I'm glad I picked that one up to try. First of all, that cover reminds me of Sabrina the Teenage Witch so much. Also, it was a nice change from all the cozy mysteries and big plotted fantasy books I've been reading lately.

Meet Evie, a young witch who's spends her time surrounded by the supernatural, of course, goes to a magic school but has no friends at all. Her dream is to live a normal life, go to a normal school and make normal friends. Normal being non magical. Her parents agree to let her go to Windermere school and right on the first day, she meets izzy, the outsider at school. And things seem to be going well for Evie and she loves it. But then it goes too well and then weird things start to happen.

Secret Magic is a very quick read that I only paused for my lunch break at work. I liked the little arts throughtout the book, that was a very nice touch. The art, the story and the writing style are really well done and it will definitely appeal to kids of all ages for sure. I also like that there is a lesson in this book: never change for someone else. You'll never attrack the right people to you otherwise.

Who says that children's books must be read when you are a child!
I recently read a book written by Elena Paige. The book is about a witch, but don't be afraid she is not a cruel witch. It is a story of Evie Everyday. She always wanted to go to a school where normal kids go. Evie has been to the witches' school called Pergoria. There she learned about making potions, flying on a broomstick and how to disappear and reappear in different places. Evie didn't enjoy learning about this.

Evie loved reading books. She read in those books that normal kids learn about Maths, English and Geography. However, things change when her family move to a new town called Wyndemere. She found out that there is a school for normal kids in the town. She manages to convince her parents to send her to Wyndemere Elementary.
Don't forget that Evie was a witch. How can she have things which do not do magic? She also had a cat which can turn into a diary, a bat who can turn into eyeglasses, magic corn and of course magic wand. In the new school, Evie does everything to be like normal students. She decides not to use magic in daily life.
But then what's the fun in reading such a simple book if a witch does not do magic and do not face problems? So the author has sprinkled some problems in Evie's life too.
What was the problem? Who helps Evie in solving the problem? I cannot answer these questions because I am under a spell of non-disclosure.
Thank you BookSirens, for allowing me to read the free copy. This book is a part of the Secret Magic series written by Elena Paige.
This book is suitable for the age group 8-12. I give 4 points to this book out of 5.

Evie is a witch who wants more than anything to be normal, which to her means dressing normal, having normal friends, and by all means, acting normal. She really, really wants to go to a normal school instead of the school for witches that she attends, and against all odds, she gets her parents to agree to this!! She shows up her first day dressed in her most colorful outfit, but she quickly realizes that the other kids are all dressed in black, with one exception, a girl by the name of Izzy. While Evie secretly admires the way Izzy acts and dresses, she decides that to be "normal" she can't hang out with or be friends with Izzy. As Evie does her best to fit in, she realizes that it's not as easy as she thought it would be to change everything that makes her, her.

I thought this was a very cute book with a great message. The pacing was quick and the book was very easy to read, and Evie really great into herself over the course of the story.

I think this is a great MG book, full of magic, which would appeal to younger readers that like fantasy, or to introduce them to this genre.

I'm giving this book 5/5 stars.

I’m not Evie Everyday Witch anymore. I’m Evie Everyday girl.

Evie is a witch, but the only thing she has ever wanted was to be normal and fit in. After moving to a new town and nagging her parents, she convinces them to let her attend a regular school and pretend to be a “lamrod” (normal spelled backwards).

This is a very cute and fast read that I would recommend to my 11-year-old niece or cousin, but that I am not sure if I should’ve picked it out for myself. I am sure I would’ve loved this as a middle grader, and the witch stuff gives me Lilli the Witch vibes: they are both witches, but present themselves as ordinary girls to the rest of the world. On the negative side, Evie is so keen on being normal and fitting in, that at times she comes off as rude and a bit of a bully, even if it is not her intention (especially at the beginning towards Izzy).

The book has several illustrations that are very pretty, I think it is a style that young girls enjoy very much. The font is a good size for the target age, and the layout in general is very nice to read. Overall, this is a very fun and recommendable read for a middle grader! Even I want to know how her story continues.

Evie has always wanted to be normal but she is a witch. She gets the opportunity to go to a normal school and feels this is her opportunity to fit in. She changes her clothes, and does everything she can to fit in. Until one day she is needed to be the witch she is.

This is a chapter book for children. It is an amazing book that is sure to capture the imagination of school aged children and encourage reading. The illustrations are fun and interesting. The characters are chalked full of personality making them relatable. The situations they get into are humerus and creative drawing the reader into the story. It has a great message about being yourself and accepting who you are. It also shows strength of character and how being popular is not the most important thing. Using your skills and talents are far more important. This book has what it takes to be a great chapter book for children, interesting, creative, fun and with a great message.

Secret Magic: Evie Everyday Witch #1 is a super cute book about being careful what you wish for. All Evie wants is to be "normal". After she and her parents move to a new "normal" town, she finally gets the opportunity. However, this wish will come at a price. Will Evie discover the truth behind what is happening in Wyndemere or will she be too blinded by the need to fit in?

I read this book twice because I felt I must have missed something the first time. I rushed through it the first time because Evie annoyed me so much. After a bit of time passed, it hit me. She reminded me of myself when I was her age. I was so desperate to fit in that I completely ignored my own interests in an attempt to get people to like me and not think I was weird. I also found myself being rude to certain individuals who did accept me regardless of what I liked because they also did not fit in. This was a brutally relatable read and I wish it had been available to me when I was in Elementary school.

I recieved a free copy via booksirens in exchange for an honest review.

The cover is cute, will appeal to it's target audience.

I felt it was a little all over the place at times. Like the author was trying jam too much into a small of time. It did all make sense though.

I think kids would love this book as there is always something happening and full of mad and exciting magic.

Having it set in a normal school is a great idea, I was worried that it would mean there would be no magic but there was quite a lot so it worked very well.

I really liked the idea that it flipped the idea of a child wanting magic. Making it the opposite, a witch wanting to be normal was genius and really well conveyed.

Overall the characters were fun and exciting. I liked the friendships in book, well the ones that counted.

4 out of 5 stars

I got this for free for an honest review

I've already read a Middle Grade by Elena Page and I love the quirky, fun stories she comes up with. Those books are all for children after the age of about 7 and they're definitely fun to read. If you have kids or grandkids and you want them to read something fun, Elena Paige is definitely someone you should take into consideration.

This story here is a first in a trilogy and it's about a girl who's a witch and all she wants is to be normal. She wants to do the normal boring stuff all the "Normals" are doing. She begs her parents to go to a normal school where she can pretend to be normal and fit in. Nothing goes according to her plan tho and when she makes it to being normal, this might not be what she have wanted after all.

This was a quick, fun read and as I said, if you have kids who like to read, definitely give this a try.

Have you ever been the only new kid in class and felt like you really didn't fit in? To make matters worse, at your previous school everyone was super competitive and you weren't? Evie, the new girl, would do just about anything to blend in. Just be normal for once.

Is normal even possible for a sixth grader and a witch? We will find out as Evie makes her way through the school days and each one becomes more weird than the last.

A very enjoyable quick read, full of magic, and preteen angst. There is a happy ever after ending which brings with it some good advice recognized by the kids for themselves.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. would rate at 4.5.

Cute story about a likeable if naive and slightly ditzy girl who had to learn the hard way that sometimes what you think you want isn't really what you want at all. Strong positive message without being preachy. It did have the absentee/oblivious parents that seem so ubiquitous in this type of story.

The illustrations were adorable!

kids verdict - it was funny! The girls commented on the crazy fashion and cute pets, the boys talked about the monster and bits of potty humor. Everyone thought Izzy was a super way good friend to keep sticking around with how much of a pill Evie was being. We made bat glasses and kitty journals - some of the things the kids pretended they saw with their magic glasses was hysterical! Love a book that gets their imagination going.

Thank you Booksirens for the free ARC! I overall enjoyed reading this book but there were some problems I had with it. One thing was that it was just super random. Evie's sidekicks were your typical cat and bat but then she has a corncob that pops corn when it's stressed? The actions of the children were also super weird. You'd think that Evie would notice that something was wrong with how everybody was acting and be suspicious of the principal but she's so focused on being 'normal' that everything just goes over her head. I thought Paige did a great job with writing from the perspective of a child though because I really felt like Evie was telling me her story. I feel like a child will really enjoy this book because it is quite imaginative and I loved the illustrations!

Books about witches are generally something I avoid. But this book is different because it's for young readers. I knew it would be light-hearted and fun. Besides, I loved the colourful cover.

Young readers will love the mayhem of the main character, Evie. She's different but doesn't want to be. She wants what most of us want--to fit in and be accepted. As a result of this strong desire, Evie allows herself to be moulded into someone she's not, at a significant cost to herself.

There is often a lot happening in this story. The terms weird, fun, and mayhem describe the characters and storyline the best, in my opinion. I believe young readers will enjoy what they read and will want to return to Evie's life to see what she gets up to next.

I received a review copy of this book, and this is an honest review.

I received a copy of this for free.

I liked the premise, I love Isadora Moon Goes to School for example. But I have to say this disappointed me a bit. The story is really random, as if it's told by a child, but it seems younger than a sixth grader. Younger children might enjoy that though. I personally wasn't a fan of the simple anime style illustrations. The moral of the story is good though; be yourself, trying to be ''normal'' to fit in just doesn't work, and makes you miserable.

Evie is a young witch. Her family of witches is anything but normal. When her parents decide to move to a new town, Evie seizes the opportunity to "fit in." She desperately wants to be normal so she convinces her parents to allow her to register at the local school. What could go wrong? Everything!

Evie gets herself into impossible situations that get her into trouble with her family and new friends. How can she fix this dilemma? In the end, she must commit to the inevitable.

This chapter book is full of fun, Coming of age, humor, twists and turns, all wrapped up in an easy-to-read format. A good choice for beginning and reluctant readers as well as middle-grade audiences.
