Greener Pastures is gearing up for a Shuffleboard Tournament to give the seniors a break from the nightly bingo games. Herman has never played shuffleboard, yet he allows himself to get talked into playing on one of the teams.
Meanwhile, Lance has brought Marcy and the Senior Sleuths a new Cold Case to work on. The victim, Nelson Greeley, was a veteran who was killed in his home. Initial evidence, what little there was, seemed to indicate a possible robbery gone wrong. Looking over the crime scene photos, Lola spotted signs of a dog being in the home, but Lance knew nothing about a dog.
What happened to the dog? Was the dog there when Nelson was killed? Did it run away? Will finding the dog help to find the murderer? Will the Senior Sleuths be able to solve the cold case?
Morgan Scott delves deeper into the personal lives of the characters in this book to help the reader better understand their attitudes and rivalries. The mysteries are well developed with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

What a fun, lighthearted cozy! I can't imagine anyone not loving this book. To be honest, this is my first book by M K Scott, & I'm not even sure how I ended up on their mailing list,but was offered this book as an ARC to read & review. I think the best compliment I can give it is that I so thoroughly enjoyed it that I've already purchased the first 2 books in the series!!
The characters are each unique personalities, and you really get to know them. The plot moves along at a nice pace, not at all rushed, but not drug out either. It's very easy to picture the group known as The Senior Sleuths. Their gentle teasing of each other, Eunice's bossy attitude & Herman's somewhat curmudgeonly personality, along with the dialog all ring true. Even the killer is semi sympathetic, if misguided.
A perfect cozy (even the length was just right: not overly bogged down with unnecessary details or too short as to be rushed) that I sincerely hope continues well into double digits.

Book 3 in the laugh out loud over the hill gang series does not disappoint! The Senior Sleuths, residents at a independent/ assisted living facility help the police solve cold cases. Of course Marcy, staying at the facility to recuperating from a gunshot, while her partner brings her cold cases to keep her busy. The senior's insights have helped before, so when a cold case of a murdered veteran comes their way, they are excited to get to the bottom of it and find the murderer. At the same time their living facility has a big competitive shuffleboard tournament and far be it from the senior sleuths not to be the most competitive! The characters are definitely characters each one very different. Herman is very straight-laced and by the book and has a crush on the former showgirl, Lola. Then there is Eunice a very loud mouthed senior who seems to know when something is going to happen and makes sure she is right in there who has an on again/off again relationship with Gus! And we have Jake who is a womanizer in his senior years and likes to see how many women he can charm. What a crew! I love this series and while trying to figure out the murder case, you are treated to some hysterical side stories that keep you laughing. Can't wait to read the newest adventure of the Over the Hill Gang! I received an ARC from the author, but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

The Senior Sleuths have a new cold case — an elderly man, Nelson Greeley, was murdered and his dog, Soldier, is missing — but the real excitement isn’t criminal: lifelong bachelor Herman, who’s always felt he missed his one chance at love, is entranced by retired showgirl Lola. And raising the fun factor even more, the newest activity is shuffleboard, with teams promptly forming: Eunice heads an all-ladies squad, while Gus competes against his lady friend with Herman and Marcy in tow.
Herman feels unsure pursuing Lola, especially when rakish Jake expresses interest in her as well, but in true Herman fashion, replies honorably to Jake’s suggestion of competition: “I do have an interest, but it’s really up to her, not me. Not sure why you’d care since you have most of the women chasing you. Besides, Lola knows you too well.”
Lola does indeed know Jake too well and promptly dismisses him in Herman’s favor when the latter admits doubt. After years of Jakes, she’s ready for a truthful, rock-steady man, and that’s Herman.
So while searching the victim’s home for clues, Herman manages to convince Lance to return stowaway Eunice to the retirement home so he & Lola can spend some time alone. Searching for the victim’s missing dog, they drop by the local shelter, and while Soldier isn’t there, Lola falls in love with Bear, a pup so tiny he’s kept in the cattery. As her devoted companion, Herman secures the adoption and sneaks Bear into her room.
While enduring drenching storms and suspicious aides to tend to the pup’s needs, Herman ponders the careful coin collection records kept by the victim, although the valuable coins themselves are missing. Jake hatches the idea to rip up the floor in search of hidden clues and valuables, which he finds just as the house is about to be demolished with a wrecking ball, and the contents of the musty box lead them not only to the victim’s missing dog, but the location of the coin collection and the desperation that prompted the robbery and death of the victim.
This leaves Lola and Herman to settle happily into what he thought was lost to him forever: a loving, trust-filled relationship. Marcy and Lance still dance around their feelings for each other, but Herman and Lola aren’t wasting any more time. Ain’t love grand?

The Senior Sleuths have another cold case to solve. This time it's the death of a veteran. The case isn't that old, it just went cold very fast. The victim's dog has disappeared also. It is discovered that he had a coin collection which can't be found. Could this be the reason for the murder?
Herman is sweet on Lola and they decide to go for a drive and get ice cream. They start talking about the case and decide they should go to the victim's house and search for an inventory sheet for the coin collection. That's when they discover Eunice in the back seat. The woman always seems to know when something is up. How does she get into a locked car?
There is also a shuffleboard tournament planned and Herman is on a team and doesn't know how to play. Herman is kept very busy in this story. He has the case to work on, learning to play shuffleboard and trying to keep Jake away from Lola. You really must read this interesting and fun story. Well constructed plot, well written, twists, murder, humor, an adopted pet.

A fun entry in a series that is about retired people living in a long term care facility that still have a lot of living to do! They have formed a group (Silver Sleuths) that help a recovering policewoman at the facility solve cold cases. Combine seniors sleuthing, facility living and activities, a trip to the dog shelter, and sweet romance to have a book that always has something fun going on. Each book in this series has been quite different from the previous one, and they all have been interesting and have had occasion to call on knowledge and strengths of the various characters. I am amazed/surprised/impressed with the sleuthing and thought process of this group of people. Don't be put off because the focus is on a different generation than usually targeted in cozy mysteries. They are a fun group of people and a testimony that quality life continues past retirement. Now if we could just settle the facts about Canadians and curling...

Lance gets not one but two dogs!
A great read. Loved the way Lance gets dragged into everything and the fact that he ends up with not just being saddled with one dog but two. The mystery actually was more front and centre with this read but it is their relationships that are so enthralling. As everyone, well apart from our resident Casanova Jake, starts getting paired off the antics just get better. Regardless of whether you are a teen or in your silver age, love can turn your whole world upside down.
Their latest case is the death of an army veteran. He had lived away from neighbours and it was only the accumulation of post that led to the discovery of the body. The sleuths find out facts that the police missed - a missing dog and a missing coin collection. Throw in shuffleboard, a smuggled dog, romance, a pregnancy and lovestruck seniors. Will they unravel who, how and why?

Never under estimate seniors-NEVER! They will get things done by hook or by crook! Police can't solve a crime--give it to this bunch of senior characters (and they are all lovable characters)--and even a old cold case will get solved!!
Of course they do have to sneak around--a lot. Luckily one of them has a car and is allowed out of the senior residence---the others just happen to go along for the ride (or sneak into the car!).
Meanwhile there is going to be a shuffleboard competition (hey it is better then the Bingo that is the usual thing they have as recreation)--but not all of them know how to play--who will win do you think? And what about the dog they smuggled into the no pets retirement home where they live?
You will laugh out loud at the antics that these seniors manage to do what they want to do--solve cold cases!

Joyous mayhem of a mystery

The dynamics of this wonderful group of senior sleuths illustrates all too well that we revert to our high school selves sometimes! It's so loveable and relatable as well! Eunice is the type that's great as a friend but pity help you if you cross her ~ as Gus repeatedly discovers. I laughed out loud so many times at the antics and repartee! It's precious to see Herman and Lola in the early stages of .......Who knows what or where it'll go! But it's sweet❣️Oh yes ~ the mystery part of the book ~ surprise ending when they find and piece together enough clues from their crazy outings (early dawn for example) to inadvertently collar the murderer! Brilliant and heart warming tale....loved every minute!

No spoilers. It's so refreshing to read a book that isn't from the point of view of a 20-something. I like that's it's about more mature characters who still have a lot to contribute to life. I have to admit that I got a little irritated at Herman for being so negative, but at the end, he came into his own and seemed more positive. It was fun to view events from a senior viewpoint, and the author accurately portrayed the pettiness that comes from living in a senior living environment, which was humorous to read. This is a light and quick read and I look forward to the author continuing to develop these characters.

I am never disappointed by the books written by this author, and of course this one is no exception. The seniors at the aged care facility get bored very easily and bingo every day is just not one. After a suggestion from one of the residents, a shuffleboard competition is being held. The oldies are every bit as competitive as any young person, so they are busy stacking there teams with ringers - if they can. Whilst this is happening the group help Marcie with police cold cases is given a case regarding the death of an old veteran. They find clues that the police didn't see and follow the clues. The end result is them finding the killer

This story is about some senior citizens that live in a nursing home and all the gossip, friendships, and 'hooking ups' that a place like that can handle. Here there are a few of them that actually help the police solve cold cases. Crack open this book and get to know them, their personalities, problems and of course how they can solve another cold case. Oh and this one has a shuffleboard tournament going for it too. Sit back and get ready to laugh at these wonderful characters. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

I love this series featuring senior citizens who investigate cold cases. This time they investigate the death of a Veteran, while preparing for a shuffleboard tournament. This book is skillfully written with a fun plot, entertaining characters and a great deal of humor. There are multiple story lines within this cozy mystery. I’m looking forward to the next book! I was given this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.

The senior sleuths are at it again. What a fun and entertaining story. Love this series. These seniors are not the type to sit and wait for their time to be up, they are getting out and causing havoc and solving murder mysteries. The gang is great, love them and all their quirky ways. The senior center they live in has their hands full trying to keep them in line. However, as spry and alert seniors, they are not about to sit and play bingo without also playing detectives.

Late for Shuffleboard is a delightful mystery with senior citizen sleuths. I am glad I am not in charge of the assisted living facility where these sleuths reside. I cannot imagine trying to corral them! These quirky folks are amazing as they help Marcy, the recovering detective, solve cold cases. Everyone has plenty of time to look over these old cases and come up with some new information. If you enjoy cozy mysteries and look for main characters over 30, this series is a must!

Valuable coins, a blooming romance, and competition
Love the quirky characters who stumble into clues and get up the courage to take chances, both in investigating and in romance. The cold case intrigues the reader while the aging characters interact like teens in the blush of new love and sporting competition. Highly recommended.

Another great story
Just finished my second book with the Way Over The HillGang and I loved it as much as the first. You can actually visualise the group of people as you’re reading and there is plenty of exciting things for them to do in solving cold cases. I am gonna be on the lookout for any other OTTG books. Go on treat yourself , you spend more on a coffee.

Love this group of senior sleuths led by recuperating Marcy. They may be elderly but their minds are not feeble and their hearts are strong. Love the little side stories . Cannot wait to read more of this series. I was given a free ARC by the author. My review is freely and honestly given

Enjoyable
this book was a joy to read because it was about elderly people who call themselves the 'super sleuths ' . The characters were vibrant and leapt of the pages. It was funny and dramatic at times.

Late for Shuffleboard was a good book. The Senior sleuths and having dogs in the story was really a good idea. I liked how the characters told the story their way. A good read.

Loved this book! The Senior Sleuths are absolutely delightful! They are always into something and I love the senior romance! I didn't see the end coming! This series keeps getting better and better!
