Rokul and Tella

Cliffhanger Warning!
Tella is a botanist, one whose expertise may be just what the alien-human alliance needs to figure out what the crater dwelling creature is.
Rokul is an adventurer, a soldier whose belief in military might is absolute.
They shouldn’t enjoy each other’s company, but they’re both risk takers, and the mission might just be the biggest risk yet.

This is the eighth book in the conquered worlds series, and is part of an ongoing continuity. The background story arc began in the previous book, and it is this story that ends on a cliffhanger, although the romance is wrapped with a bow!
Our alien friends remain stranded on the human colony, having defeated the Xathi, and are now concentrating on a new threat... a living threat that has created craters where none were before.

Another enjoyable addition to the series, this, like the others, has a lot of action, a fast paced romance, and a hero and heroine with a happily-for-now (but only because that background story is still going!)

Recommended for those who love sci-fi romance and alien heroes.

Botanist Dr Tella Briar thrives on fieldwork and hates being stuck in a laboratory. But when Strike Team Two member Rokul releases her for a deadly vine an attraction between them is a bright flame that cannot be ignored. They need to work together if they are going to figure out what is happening to the planet whilst they try and keep things between them professional. Used to fighting, can he persuade the brilliant but stubborn woman to stay with him - after all, she is worth it.

I really enjoyed this love story mixed up into a mystery about the plant life of the planet that was threatening them all. Tella was a feisty yet passionate woman who always considered things carefully with Rokul the fighter who was impulsive and a determined fighter for anything and anyone who was important to him. They were perfect opposites. I loved the times when they had to care for each other as well as the comfort that they received from each other. Well written and easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

Dr. Tella Briar is a botanist, exactly what the planet needs with a giant plant causing issues below the planet's surface. Rokul tends to act first and think later, a habit that has once again gotten in trouble, but since that trouble leads to him meeting the sexy new botanist, maybe his punishment isn't so bad. These two have an instant attraction to each other, though their personalities certainly clash at times. I liked that they were actually working to develop a friendship and not just a physical relationship, it helped with the insta-love.

The plot is definitely moving at a fast pace. The new intelligent vine creature is proving to have more than a few tricks up its proverbial sleeve (you really need to read the previous book for the background on this creature). While the romance certainly has a complete arc in this book, the overall plot has more of a To Be Continued feel to it.

Loved main characters

But could not stand the “ending”. This book ending was like several in series. Felt like old black and white serial movies that ended abruptly leaving you hanging.
Felt like the characters were again, lacking in reason and deductions, logic in how to investigate and help the disturbed unground creature. As well as a sense of urgency by anyone in the know in finding solutions
Not to mention the “relationship” did not feel like they would have been in love, just hook up. Though there were funny moments, like the carnivore plant.
I love the planet and the idea, but feel like the author did not grasp how the civil action that colonized planet, built cities, with power, etc would have been much more advanced. As well as know much more of fauna and flora, geography.
With the alien technology especially the Aurora crew they would have been much the better. With rebuilding and updating tech.

Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?

This story gave the answer to the previous book but it doesn't detract from it being a standalone.
Although I got an answer the plot thickens as to the why and wherefores.
I laughed our loud at the humour Elin wove into the 2 main characters. The h was dry witted and has the H's number from the start.
Now, I was thrown into the forest and it's menace
Although i learned of the flora in book 1, this time, the plot takes the suspense and weaves it through the plants. There was indeed, a big dilemma and I liked the way this book developed the angst.
The tone in this story is definitely different and I enjoyed the banter between H and h and the fellow characters. Not since Mariella did i get a more personal novel and the romance virtually dominated. It's fun to have a light hearted listen.
Piers, yet another accent, I'm in awe.

Rokul isnt the type that thinks first before he jumps and often gets in trouble. This time getting in trouble could be the best thing that has ever happend to him..... he meets botanist Tella who not only is intelligent and sexy but she can fight and out drink him and doesnt take nonsense from any of the team members and puts them in their place.....which has Rokul falling inlove with her.
Working together to find answers and solutions on how to defeat the new threat a romance blossoms between the two.
Another action packed book in this amazing series that will have you on the edge of your seat.....can not wait for the next book to come out... i reccomend this series to everyone.

Loved it!

Rokul ad Tella are one of my favorite couples thus far. Rokul is a powerful warrior who thinks with a military mind. Kill first ask questions later. He finds out quickly that doesn't always work ! Tella is a botanist tough, intelligent and sassy a great .watch for Rokul. I love the growing relationship between these two and the witty banter back and forth has been my favorite. As all the previous stories there is action, adventure and triumph over adversity, along with a healthy dose of passion and love! Highly recommend 😍💖

The imaginative world in this series, as it's described, keeps on amazing me in each book. I've been in love with the conquered world series from the start and Rokul is no different. Tella is perfect for the strong and protective, Rokul. She is as brave as she is intelligent, which in her field of work is a very good thing. Together they make quite the pair in their sci-fi, romance story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

One of my must reads!

I absolutely LOVE these books, I can’t get enough of them! Each story continues the overall plot and there isn’t too long a wait before the next book in the series is released! I stumbled across these books and I’m so glad I read the first one. If you like sci fi with hot alpha aliens and snappy heroines who can stick up for themselves then these books are for you!

This book started off strong. The action was so-so. I know fighting sentient plants my not be as exciting as fighting another alien race but I feel like this book didn’t have a good enough resolution for me. I was reading, flipped to the next page but that was it. That can’t be it. I know the story will continue with the next book but usually there is a more wrapped up ending, this felt more like a cliffhanger. Oh well, on to the next one.

Loved It

The book was just as great as all the previous ones and holds your attention from beginning to end with one disaster after another. It's packed with adventure, action, humor, love, and steamy sexy scenes that leaves you saying ahh with awesome characters? A very highly recommended series and so ready to read the next book.

I need to read the before this one!

This was good read. I need to back and read the books that came before it so I know the whole story. I loved the characters and I would like to see the previous relationships before they got to this point with the crazy plant. Is there a hint in the early book?

Fun read

I really enjoyed this book in the series. Two characters who are intelligent and funny, who learn to better understand someone else's point of view. My only complaint was the end was a little flat.

Pretty Good

I liked reading this love story, but for some reason it just felt like the last little bit dragged out longer then it needed to. Was slightly disappointed with that, but hope the next book is as good as the books previous to this one.

very good

This was good. The use of humor in intense situations. The lack of filters. The way the planet has use for everyone. The sentient being now in play. So much going on. And it ends with everyone in a dome. Need to continue now 😋

A Fantastic Sci-Fi / Romance .
I absolutely love this story . It's so intriguing and full of action . I think it would make an absolutely fantastic movie or television series . This Rokul and Tellas tale . The Conquered world story continues this is book 8 . It is so interesting . I couldn't put it down . I cannot wait for the next . Rokul's an alien warrior and Tella Briar is a botanist .
This is after the Xathi invasion . An alien plant like creature is attacking with long vines . General Rourh and his group hirer Tella to help stop the creature . While Rokul and Tells fight the plant life maybe a relationship blooms . I really enjoyed reading this story . Tella is as much a warrior as Rokul . I highly recommend reading this story . Looking forward to more in Conquered World .
