Good read as Brielle and Ayden ignored the negativity and racial slurs and became rather close. I was hoping Ayden and Shelly could escape Buck and his violent, evil nature. There was plenty of action and unexpected instances that kept me reading to see how justice would be served.

"Burning of the Cross" by Niki Jilvontae

My Rationalization:

I will say that the title really got my attention. I found "Burning of the Cross" one good read that will take the reader through a little bit of it all 'from raw emotions, to love, hate, anger, despair to hope.' This was definitely one of those reads that will take one through quite a few twists and turns to the very end. I felt sorry for all of the abuse than Ayden and his mom had been subjected to for years by this hateful evil person. The novel really covers how evil a racist clan can be. What an ending! You will only have to pick up this well-written novel and read it for yourself to see how these characters make it out of this horrible situation. To the author... job well done!

DEEP!!!!!!

Ayden and Shelby didn't stand a chance with Buck ignorance and hatred. Buck treated his son and wife like property. The abuse and terror he subjected them to turned into dislike. Ayden was nothing like his father. He try his best not to succumb to the ill will of Buck. Meeting Brielle lit a fire in Ayden. Brielle had no clue of Ayden background. Her intuition was telling her something was off. If only she would have listened but her feelings for Ayden lead her and her friends into what was supposed to be a Holiday of fun straight into a house of horror. Buck thought he had gotten to Ayden and had it all figured out. He didn't count on Brielle and her crew of friends sticking together and refusing to lay down. Buck was fueled by hatred but survival overpowered his plan.

From your lips to.....

I was completely prepared NOT to like this book. I abhor racism and the hatred of minorities for no other reason than they're minorities. Reading about a thriving, barely concealed racist group operating in plain sight was beyond infuriating. Yet, the story delved deeper to reveal mystery, mental health, secrets, pride and even love. I'm in awe of how this story evolved and can only hope to realize the fruition of several aspects of it
1) the racist pig's removal from office
2) the election of a highly qualified, unapologetically black woman to the highest position of power
3) a rise in black power groups that seek to help and uplift their people and finally
4) universal, unbiased love
Fantastic read Niki Jilvontae....... thank you for sharing

Different !

This book was definitely different from others. I did enjoy it. Buck was a evil individual and he got exactly what he deserved. My heart felt for Adeyn but, his plan gave me mixed feelings about him. I like Brielle. She was tough and very strong minded. She had her beliefs and stood for her organization but was still willing to give Adeyn a chance. I would have loved to know how things turned out for the rest of the characters in the end especially Shelby. Great read Niki !

Even though this was a great story, I didn’t care too much for it because of all the race tensions that are currently happening.
