"It came swift like a missed breath, between dreams, taking that one special family by horrid sickness and a family curse that sealed their souls forever."
Pharafaneelya Weirden's Black Book is the first book in the Pharafaneelya series by Jaws R. which tells the story of an evil curse that is thirsty for souls. It all begins with the arrival of the Weirden family to Old Town. The family is well known and loved by almost everybody in the town except for a few. But at the same time, they keep a dark secret about a magical black book that will make anybody who gets the book pay for the PRICE. A few hundred later, a few people gathered together on a quest to find the Weirden's Black Book.
At a first glance, I thought this book like a typical horror story but when I read it, I realize that this story offers a new perspective as a thriller and mystery work. I love how the author started the pages with some background story of the Weirden family and how it's becoming the main point or reason that explains the next chapters. It is a little bit longer for an introduction story since there are many details in it but I enjoy the story.
The story is interesting because of these aspects ;
The story flow -I can say the story is like river water flowing calmly. From the beginning until the end, the story progressed very well. With some background story as an introduction and finally, the end which is what happens to the group of people after they managed to get the Weirden's Black Book(No SPOILERS). And the author also gives some clue to what comes next in the second book which is the continuation of the first one.
A labyrinth of intriguing -This book is full of surprises and some intriguing aspects that will make the readers wondered what will happen next. How the author pictured the gruesome details of what happens when the evil curse starts to consume the human souls. I really can't forget that scenes. Maybe for some readers, it is disturbing but the dark and macabre elements make the story more alive. Well, this is a horror-themed story, why not?
Besides that, this story is can be seen through a psychological spectrum when fear and loss begin to conquer the rational thinking of a person which can turn them into a totally different person. When suspicions begin to seep into them slowly, everything will change 360 degrees. From normal to insane and vice versa.
However, one thing that I dislike in this story is the constant quarrel between a few characters which is Mildred, Madison, and Dr. Pike which I find too often and it somehow makes them like childish person especially Mildred since she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. I am not saying that she is a bad girl but her characteristics seem unappealing to me.
In a conclusion, this book is worth reading because it is beautifully written, its simple words, not too bombastic and it never fails to capture my attention to exploring it despite one or a few things that distract me. Get a copy and ready to feel the shivers of the Dark Shadows from Pharafaneelya. 'A Pharafaneelya dream world, known as Smaerd. A backwards world of horrid dreams and visions.'
This book comes with a vividly new concept of horror set in a world that feels new and exciting. The author drives the story forward through dialogue that is often humorous and tantalizing descriptions of events and the environment they take place in. The storytelling sometimes makes me think of 80's movies and sometimes of very serious horror stories-but, the shifts from mood to mood go very well together. The only reason I did not give all five stars is that the language is sometimes a little clumsy and the ending was a bit abrupt. The book seems to need five chapters more for a more well-rounded ending. However, the language is also partly mesmerisingly poetic and the story lacks the usual clichés often found in other horror books. The characters are fresh and diverse and the plot is unique and unfolds in unexpected ways. I am a very vivid reader that has been at it for a very long time and I tell you: five stars or not, you should not miss out on the experience of reading Pharafaneelya Weirden's Black Book.
Pharafaneelya Weirden’s Black Book Author: Jaws R. A Review by Aya Perez
I have to be honest, there’s a Gretchen character in this tale, yes; she is a cliché in films and in books, but she is really daunting!
I was telling a friend maybe I could not finish reading the book because it was scary. But of course not, I will finish it! I just have to be courageous and be creative! So, what I did was I read it only during the daytime!
Yes, I am a faint-hearted one.
But yes, the book attains its purpose. What brilliant mind you have there, sir Jaws R. Great imagination and fearless. How did you do it?
As mentioned in the novel's briefer, the story revolves around the cursed book and it spreads a sinister.
There are many characters coming and going. But most of them stick in my mind and are unforgettable. Gretchen is one of them!
The plot, conflict, and progression of the story are engaging and, yes, chilling. There’s a little drag and repetition I noticed in the first part of the book. Maybe it could be trimmed for a more excellent momentum. Nevertheless, it maintains and glues to its essence as a terrifying tale. Yes, watch out with the menu of dishes during Mark and Mildred’s group adventure hunting the cursed book!
And the setting-created world varies from the beginning, middle, until end. I will not spoil them. Just read it and be haunted like me!
To sir Jaws R, thank you very much. I don’t think I could write a narrative like that. You are magnificent! Congratulations!
I just want to say that this is my first time reading any scary books, and I got really scared if you are heart tender or heart fainted, just run away don't open the book :D The writing style is great, the story length is just fine and nothing is boring at all. The events will keep you captivated. Pharafaneelya Weirden's Black Book was recommended to me by Booktasters, it is such a great read and very engaging. It is my first time reading horror. The story is about an evil curse that is hunting souls. It all begins with the arrival of a well-known and loved family by everyone in the town. The family has a dark book, book of magic, and curses that will make anybody who gets the book pay a price.

Pharafaneelya Weirden's Black Book" deserves high praise for its innovative approach to horror and its ability to captivate readers from start to finish. "The night is when dreams of memories of others are borrowed from the minds alike. These minds all share one thought, one mind, linked through the triangle that lives inside the black moon in the sky."
Such a strong sentence, and it's one of the many. This, at once, disturbing and mesmerizing piece of art was difficult to leave unfinished. From the naked description of horrors that people went through, to the indescribable sorrow of one remarkable man there wasn't a place to take a breath. And in a world so different from theirs [characters], everything they built is unimportant, withering out on the background of immense pain and fear. When the book chooses you, you can't hide. You'll find your fate beneath its creepy covers, no matter who you are. You have been chosen and assigned to something greater, beyond your own understanding. The Pharafeneelya's concept is sinister, loaded with sometimes annoyingly obvious symbolism of damnation, yet I recommend it fully; but be aware, it's not reading for cowards, and I look forward to reading where the Black Book ended.
I liked this book. At the first few chapters, I thought this was going to be some kind of creepy, supernatural horror story with cursed artifact and reckless adventurers looking for the artifact. Which is not something I usually read.
However, this book turned out to be much more exciting than the usual horror-adventure story.
One of the interesting thing about this book is that the characters are all really humorous and keeps the reader entertained well.I mean, I tend to get bored when a book is too serious, so I liked the humorous tone some characters had throughout the story.
Another thing I enjoyed was the simple but gruesome details of the curse caused by the Weirden’s book. I don’t really know how to describe it, but it’s just so…grim. In a good way. I usually enjoy those horrid details so I really liked the descriptions. It just depends on whether you like the horrifying details or not…if you liked reading Paul Sheldon mutilated then you should be able to stand this book as well.
Overall, I really liked this book, and will recommend it to people who loves horror novels.
Pharafaneelya is truly jarring in a broad sense. The first half of the story reminded me of children's gothic fiction, starting with the portrayal of the Weirden Family to the citizens of Old Town. Once I get into the second half, the genre kind of seemed to be moving in a a new direction. I never knew where the story was going to lead me, and I reckon that's the charming part about this book!
It's full of vibrant, absurd characters and we follow their development to the point their downfall. I think that's one of the satisfying parts. To see the effect of their shortcomings upon the lives of others, and how they continue to make those same mistakes without feeling that they are in jeopardy. 3.5 stars for me! This book is so mind-boggling, to say the least.
I stating reading this book with an open mind. I was not sure of the playwright format. It turns out that it quickly turned interesting. I story that have histories so novice like me can get caught up on the back story. The story starts when a family moves to a new town. the family has a special talent and that one of the talent is telling stories. Since, the Weirdens were good at story telling the town loved them. one day the Weirdens are hit with a tragic mishaps, and their lives and that of the town folks are changed for the worst. All because of a book. it then jumps to modern era, where a new ruler wants to remove the cursed book. The adventure begins. I gave a five out of five review.
I love reading horror. This book, though, simply wasn't my cup of tea. I received a free copy for an honest review, and well... I needed two attempts to finish it. It's not the script-like structure of the book that made it hard for me to read, but the to me completely lack of a proper plot and the phrasing.
Nonetheless I appreciate the hard work the author put into writing this book, and I'm happy that many other readers liked it much more than I did.
The book was great! I love the way it was written and just the whole story in general was great. Though I feel it can be improved because some parts got kind of repetitive. But overall, the book was great and the way it was written was very vivid with its descriptions and the way the settings were set up were very nice.
I'm a HUGE fan of horror books and honestly I loved this one sooo much. I think this book brings a new perspective into horror and I enjoyed it a lot. The story plot was interesting, the writing was great, the length of the book was perfect since I never got bored (considering the fact I'm a slow reader). Will definitely recommend to others :)
Really enjoyed this book, well written and well thought out and a good story about what lengths people will go to for power, status etc.despite the consequences that certainly did follow. Glad I didn't read at night though right before bed but I'd definitely recommend for anyone who loves a dark fantasy book.
It might have come late but late is better than never they say.. This is an interesting horrifying read that will satisfy you as a horror fan and will scare the hell out of you if you're that type. I recommend reading the book with full concentration and full imagination.
I don't read a lot of horrors but this book is, I would like to say, thrillingly good.
It takes you on adventure and engages your imagination with the vivid descriptions and storytelling. It left me scared, but to addicted to put down, and that's a job well done for me
