Book 3 in "The Chronicles of the Immortal Council" series! A "Vampire for Hire World" novel!

Recently, Sam has been feeling the evil influence of the demon living inside her more and more. The idea of succumbing to the spirit's depravities isn’t something she’s ready to grapple with… and it isn’t something she can allow either.

On a late night flight over Monterey, Sam is attacked by an unidentified ball of light and disappears. Her friends, Allison, Veronica, and Julia Agrippina are unable to locate her. It isn’t until a normally silent person begins talking that all three begin to get very worried.

Empress Dowager Tzu-Hsi has encountered the magic behind Sam’s disappearance before. She warns them all that action must be taken swiftly if they ever want to see Samantha Moon again. The truth is, defeating the forces at play is imperative if immortals are to continue walking the earth freely.

While her friends employ every resource at their disposal to locate her and free her from her kidnappers, Sam is embroiled in a mental game for her sanity and her freedom. Locked in a psychic prison, she relies on her memories to figure out how to save herself and stop her captors from releasing one of the evilest powers known.

Sam is forced to engage with the demon inside her and convince the being to work with her for their mutual survival. For the first time, they both have to come to terms with the fact that together they are a more formidable force than they ever could be on their own.

Novella set in the Vampire for Hire World: Chronicles of the Immortal Council series written by DC Young. In this one Sam still has her dark entity inside her giving us a frame of reference to the chronology with the regular series.

The two intertwined storylines are. 1) Sam’s capture, attempted possession by a witch and rescue. 2) How Tzu-Hsi became Empress Dowager and had to flee China before being changed.

Footnote: 1) These stories are a great way to learn some history as long as you remember some of it has been tweaked to fit the characters becoming vampires.

Fave scenes: the hidden orchid, Veronica’s ‘whooshing’, Tzu-Hsi working the room and Hansel & Gretel.

Sams back!

Im glad to see that at least one of the off shoot series are still about Sam. Though I have to say, I really miss her interaction with her family. Both blood and otherwise.

Not HALF bad

A shame that the Samantha Moon story must continue with less talented ghost writers. The main story line is ok but a lot of overdone background history makes for an often tedious read.

Great

I love Sam Moon. The only thing with thus book is that it's just to short for my taste. But that's OK. Bring on the next one please.
