DNF. I was looking for a nice romantic suspense story to pass a rainy miserable afternoon, but this one was just too much for me to continue! Heroine is a famous actress and she got herself engaged to her gay BFF because he has family issues and she wanted to help him. As the story begins, she comes home and finds blood in her house and her BFF/Fiancée missing. The cops are there and they take her to the station for questioning.
Hero is an ex-military guy and currently working for a security firm. He has a major crush on heroine whom he has met on several previous occasions but she doesn’t remember him at all! (*strike 1). Because Hero was hurt in the military in which he has scars on one side of his face and a bum leg, he feels he is no good for her. *rolls eyes & strike 2”.
However, what made me DNF right away *strike 3 *) is the following when heroine explains her reason for marrying the BFF:
“I’ve never had much luck in the dating realm, and we always joked that if we weren’t married by the time we hit our thirties, we would marry each other. We talked about all the wedding plans together. We shared everything going on in our lives. He was one of my best friends… I mean is. That’s why getting married wasn’t such a stretch.” I shrugged. “Only Nate had grown more secretive in recent days. I chalked it up to nerves over getting married. I knew that deciding to go through with it and asking me to be his fake fiancé had created a lot of stress and strife for both of us.”
“I know he was seeing someone on the side, and I was willing to break the marriage off. But if he felt it was imperative for him to live life under the guise of being straight and keeping his boyfriend a secret, then who was I to argue? Not only did he agree to give me a very generous allowance for marrying him, but he also promised me the option to have lovers on the side, as long as I kept it quiet like he did. This all seemed more than fair. And because I love planning a party more than almost anything, I was happy to follow through with my part of the bargain.”
I continued to tell the story of how I’d ended up in jail. The night before, instead of Nate indulging my whims and helping me select hors d’oeuvres and wine pairings, he had broken down and cried. The very last thing I needed was to feel like the bad guy, as if the wedding were my idea and I was the one ruining his life. That was when I’d snapped. I accused him of being ungrateful. I reminded him of everything I was giving up to help him. And I suggested that the very least he could do was to show a little gratitude and not try to make the entire experience miserable. Then I stormed off because if I’d learned anything in dealing with men, it was that having a mini-meltdown went a long way toward ensuring I would get what I wanted.
When I came home the next day from work, Nate was nowhere to be seen. He hadn’t called, which was unusual for him and only served to make me feel worse about the situation. We were off to a lousy start. If I wanted to be miserable while I was married, then I could marry a straight guy. At least then I wouldn’t have to go looking for sex since I would have someone who was there, ready, and on demand”.
For this reader, I don’t like selfish, hypocritical & unlikable cows as heroines. So DNF.

The BDSM angle to these books is getting old.
Story of Annabella (friend of Daisy) who is about to enter into a marrriage of convenience with her BFF, a gay man who has a lover and who has questionable business dealings. The more we learn the more we find that nothing makes sense. Not the family, not the mob, not their "bestie" relationship.

Just.... WOW!!!! I have yet to be disappointed with any of the books in this exciting series by Linzi Baxter. Yet again I was gleefully turning the pages of this newest book in the series to see what happened next. Absolutely FILLED with intrigue, secrets, murder attempts, hot alpha men and strong, amazing women. Just when you think you've got it figured out, WHAM you're floored by another twist of turn 😊. At no point was I bored. This book centered around Annabella, the kind hearted actress and friend of Daisy that we meet briefly in previous books. Having returned home from a day of filming she's stunned to find blood all over her BFF/fiance's room and a deputy suddenly standing in front of her mere moments after she got home. The kicker?? He's accusing her of killing Nate (fiance)!!! Immediately hustled from her house without shoes, phone or anything at all she's still in complete shock. How/why did the police arrive minutes after she did? What was going on, and WHERE was Nate? This book has you eagerly turning each page and wanting more. This series is most definitely one of my guilty pleasure. I can't wait for more!! It's not 100% necessary to have read the previous books in this series, but it helps give you back story and character relationships. Enjoy!!

Drama packed and suspenseful with a nice recap of the colorful multifaceted White Hat/ Blackwood Security team and their loved ones' skills and personalities. Daisy's plans to make happy memories opening a women's shelter in California go awry when her actress friend Annabelle's plan of a marriage of convenience to her homosexual best friend Nate ends violently. Instant attraction sizzles between Annabelle and White Hat Security/Blackwood Security ex-Navy operative SEAL John who is assigned to both protect Anabelle and solve the mystery surrounding Nate's disappearance. John's complicated and broken family as well as multiple attacks to Annabelle add layers of drama and suspense.
18+ recommended. Contains hints of BDSM, a little steam and a fair quantity of violence.

Nate is missing and there is blood all over his room. Annabella is found holding a bloody knife. They are to get fake married to get his family to leave him alone about being gay. She is taken to the police station and processed as if she is guilty without a body. Nate’s father has been gambling above his means and has been working the mobs legal issues to pay his debt. Nate and his lover have left town to go into hiding. In the meantime, Anna is being framed for murder and there are attempts on her life but she doesn’t know why. John is a mercenary for Anna’s friends and is protecting her. Problem is, there have each had underlying feelings for each other. Now she is kidnapped. Will she find out who hates her so much to kill her? Nicely written. There are a lot of previous characters that kind of make this more of a novella in between books. Great story!

Another brilliant book in the world of White hat security and the people of blackwood security Once again we are taken on a wild roller coaster ride as the men and women of these two teams fight for justice Once again there will be drama and suspense and plenty of hot loving as they solve the latest mystery that affects them and their friends

She is found holding the bloody knife in a house full of blood and her face husband is missing. This all started when she tried to help him out as his family is giving him a hard time about being gay. She is arrested and processed like she is guilty of a crime but there is no body only blood. His father is in deep with the mob due to his gambling and his working on their legal issue to work off his debt. Her fake husband has gone into hiding with his lover and she is being framed for his murder and her life is being threatened but why? In walk John a mercenary who is helping to protect her but they both have feeling for each other and then she goes missing. Who hates her so much and why are they doing this to her? Good read.

I can’t believe it took me so long to find Linzi Baxter’s stories!
She is an another amazing author! She never fails with her books. She brings intrigue, drama and twists and turns that you’d never believe. She does it with ease but you realize that you believe the twists and turns because you live in her stories!
John and Annabelle are another amazing couple brought together by Linzi. Sure, Brock claims he’s responsible but I don’t believe him!
Brock thinks he’s responsible for all of the happy couples but when you pull your head up at the end of the story, you realize...Brocks not real! Once again, you’re living in Linzi Baxter’s story!
I adore this series! Can’t wait to dive into the next book!

Security after military service should be less dangerous but unfortunately the home front can just as many land mines. John is on another case before he knows it, once he see the tears running down her face. Annabelle is a famous actress but the movie playing out is real life and its a nightmare. John needs to figure out if her fiance is dead or where? John needs to figure out who setting her up or if they are really trying to kill her. Its face paced and intense. This is a great read featuring a scarred former Seal now Blackwood Security operative, John, and Daisy friend who’s a movie star and engaged to her gay bff, Annabelle. The actress is in serious trouble because her gay fiancé is now missing and she was found in a blood soaked bathroom holding a bloody knife by the cops. The cops are corrupt, the bff’s family doesn’t approve of his lifestyle and are in bed with the mob, we get various members of the Blackwood team, car bombs, a runaway sports car, a cray cray step mother, a father found through DNA, a selfish mother found friends and family to hold it together and lots of hot steamy scenes.

John finally has his turn and our quiet man does pairs well with Annabella, he starts out as a bodyguard and the case seems to be going one way but things do jot add up and they get the surprise of their lives when things come to ahead.
Ms. Baxter out did herself with this story, well written an awesome plot and of course characters cameos from the previous books.

Another great read to the series brings Annabelle and John's story. The author pulls you in with her detailed scenes bringing drama,suspense,action and a hot and steamy romance. The cast of supporting characters help to bring the story around. I loved and highly recommend this book.

Book seven in the White Hat Security series what a story it is well written and kept me turning pages. There is so much going on in this story and poor Annabella sure can not get a break, I am glad John came into her life when he did. I hope there are going to be more books in this series. Oh wow! What a book! Poor Annabella cannot catch a break and it seems life is taking a turn for the worse. I loved when John comes into the picture. The book is really well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end! I loved it and I would recommend this book to all!

Great read
It was hard to read about all the times someone tried to kill Annabelle. Glad her and John are making it work. Looking forward to the next book about Addie, Johns sister. Going to read the spin off series next. Hope they are just as good. Keep writing and I will keep reading.

I just love this series it just keeps getting better and better. This was another super read the storyline was good and sucked me right in full of action and lots of suspense and the chemistry between Annabelle and John is off the charts hot. This was a super read and I would highly recommend it.

Beautiful, action packed love story with brilliant twists, fantastic banter and of course interfering well meaning friends(Aaron, Brock, Daisy to name a few) and some new characters introduced (Gabriel and Abbie) another Baxter white hat that you cant put down.
