In 2014 her very first novel, with the very talented and gifted Best Selling Author and co-founder of Brown Girls Books, Victoria Christopher Murray, was published.
Princess is respected in all of her gifts. She is a dramatist, poet, motivational speaker, novelist, educator, producer, director, actor, dancer, and singer, but her favorite titles are wife and mother. She is married to Reginald R. Gooden. They collectively have six children. All of which are wonderfully gifted as well.
This creative nonfiction gem, which shares real-life events taking place in the author's life, reads like a novel. Gooden tells her story with simplicity, candor and vivid detail. Her experiences (set in the backdrops of Georgia and North Carolina) highlight themes of colorism, identity, acceptance and black-on-black crime within our african-american community.
Truth is transparent and reflective; it needs no dressing or filter. Gooden successfully shares her truths stripped of fluff and filler, getting right to the heart of her testimony in a manner that grabs and keeps your attention until the very last page is read. I experienced different waves of laughter and tears as I read this book about her life's journey. This book will spark conversation and provide another avenue of enlightened awareness for anyone who's dealt with such experiences to have their voices heard.
This is a glimpse into Princess's life, this beautiful lady has endured a lot and continues to be a blessing to others. This book will truly be a blessing to others. Her being transparent and her sharing her story will no doubt help some who is going through it or have been through the same thing. Thank you for sharing your story.
