3.25 STARS, ready for the game ★★★✩✩
This book is for you if… you've enjoyed the series so far and want to continue supporting the characters on their journey.

Preface.
I think I've mentioned this in another review recently, but I had a hard time keeping up with the review game in the last couple of weeks and the problem is my brain is about the size of a pea - hence I have trouble recalling all my thoughts on the things I read. Sorry for another lousy review, y'all.

Overall.
Well, I did like the story of Game of Shadows, mostly. Some things didn't make sense to me. The one I can recall still is that a very certain character had a distinct change in behaviour that just happened a little too fast to be authentic. It also didn't fit with his past actions either. Since all the books in this series are super short, however, it's not like I can complain too much about it - it's just what happens.

On the plus side, I really came to appreciate the overall diverse dynamics of Bekah's plots, which is especially outstanding if you consider the limits of the format Bekah tells the story in.

Yup, that's it. That's the entire review. Enjoy this floofy pupper instead:

What’s happening.
Being the princess of the Winter Court is not exactly what Ivy thought it would be:
time to get aquainted with being a fairy
gets to know her real family
intimate moments with Bear

But actually, it's a little something like this:
enemies around every corner
abducted loved ones to rescue
everyone she knows is in danger

So begins her quest to save her kingdom, her family, and her love.

This book has been quite well written with well fleshed out characters and interesting shifts in perspective. There’s a lot of world building done to really immerse the reader. The pacing is good and it’s easy to empathise with the characters.

The plot is interesting

I love fantasy stories, faes and magic, of prince and princess. I am getting hooked in this series and the challenges that Ivy must face and about to face. Though I still cannot comprehend the idea of swapping babies and ruining the lives of not only Ivy and Violet but the families involved. It was really cruel and I somehow wish that Violet will have a satisfying ending with her real parents. As for Ivy and Bear, so complicated yet one must sacrifice. And now I am beginning to like Arden, his character has definitely evolved in the story and of course Jules the best friend a girl can have.

i’m sorry, but i still can’t get over the fact that ivy ‘fell in love’ with bear in a matter of.. days? and only because he took interest in her and was kind to her? i didn’t feel the chemistry between them and everything in their relationship felt rushed and forced. and then she actually refused to 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 ardan because, wait for it, she 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫. i get it girl, i really do, but if your main concern is that you don’t know him, maybe just 𝐓𝐑𝐘 to get to know him instead of pushing him away?? and it was so ironic, seeing that she had no problem committing to bear after ‘knowing’ him for a couple of days, and being aware that he was lying to her like 90% of that time.

speaking of bear, he gives me 𝚊𝚍𝚊𝚖 𝚏𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝚜𝚑𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚖𝚎 𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚜 vibes, and i don’t like it, at all.

also, he didn’t tell ivy that there were other portals they could use.. 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬? she went to save him and then he withheld the information that could save her mother, knowing perfectly well that ivy wouldn’t be able to forgive herself if something happened to her mother because of her!

speaking of shatter me series, ardan reminded me a little of aaron, especially when he called ivy ‘love.’ and we could actually see the change in him, how he grew to love ivy. it’s true that her beauty intrigued him the most at first, but then what he wanted more than just her body was to actually get to 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 her, to protect her and to change himself for her. and i couldn’t help but notice that while bear was always rambling about how ivy is beautiful and how good she smells and how her body makes him feel, ardan actually wanted her on a deeper level.

one more thing,
how did the two evil sisters manage to get through the portal before it was sealed? especially if one of them was frozen??

Jules and Ivy rush off to save Bear and Nan from the clutches of Ivys evil aunt Alena. But,unfortunately it’s not so simple- Alena, knowing Ivy’s true feelings, has set a trap to divide and conquer the Winter Court. While Ivy is off on her rescue mission Alena storms Winter and agrees to a battle between herself and her sister Lyric. Bonds are tested and allies come from the unlikeliest day people in the third instalment of this fast paced far fantasy.

The characters have morphed into real beings by this stage. You certainly have your favourites and a few take you by surprise as they turn out to be different altogether. The writing is seamless and flows with natural fluidity. Again, the details are impeccable and I can visualise every detail (hello Padraic!) and I feel like I’m in the middle of faerie.

Bekah Harris has come up with an amazing series here. I definitely recommend this book/series to all Fae lovers. It’s the type of book that you can wholly concentrate on and never get bored, it’s very easy to follow along and it hooks you in from the first word.

The Winter Court stares down the barrel of upheaval in this third installment in Bekah Harris’s IRON CROWN FAERIE TALES saga.

Harris weaves narrative magic in an entry of this story that culminates in a dire endgame hatched by Ivy Hawthorne’s wicked aunt, who stands to gain the winter throne if she wins a deadly contest with her sister, and Ivy’s mother, Queen Lyric.

Simultaneously, Ivy’s desperate attempt to save Barrett Forbes generates even more conflict within Ivy’s betrothed—the Unseelie Prince, Ardan.

GAME OF SHADOWS is a winding tale of alternating victory and defeat—one that lands Ivy in a difficult position, where her duty and her personal convictions continue to be at odds with one another, and where her decisions will continue to play a role in deciding the fate of the kingdom she is destined to inherit.

Nikki Delgado continues to mesmerize with a voice that has become as tied to this story in my mind as its own characters. I can’t get enough of this intriguing world Bekah Harris has imagined!

Ulmemini 11 - raamat, millest soovid, et tehtaks film Bekah Harris, Game of Shadows (Iron crown faerie tales 3) 189 lk, Dreamlake media 2019.

>Book Review – Game of Shadows
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 3rd in the Iron Crown Faerie Tales series and ends in a cliffhanger. Ivy saves Bear and her grandma, but finds out that Bear was sexually abused by both of her cousins. Ivy and Bear finally give in to their feelings, even though Arden starts to grow up a bit.
>Ivy and Jules go back to school, which is odd, as they were missing for so long. I guess the school doesn’t mind that many absences. Mean girl, Chelsea, is a fun surprise. She tags along with Ivy and Jules in order to save Bear and is a source of humor in a situation with sexual assault.
>This book is appropriate for a new adult (18+) audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The series started out as young adult, but the content has changed significantly. Rape and sexual abuse are not topics for a young adult book.

I started the series with this book so I was a little lost at first since there wasn't much of a summary or back story until you read for a while. I enjoyed the subtle shift in perspective between characters to tell the story and I quickly became engaged with their story and struggles. I really like bear, his loyalty and sacrifice for ivy who he loves. I can't wait to read more to see how it all works out and I hope they each get what they deserve. The villains and heroes are very clear but things are written with the possibility for each character to change either for good or bad. I like that idea that we each get to choose, no matter where we start we can change. Good story with well written characters. Now I just need to go back and read the first books.

Wow that ending! All I can say is Lyric is one of the best queens I have ever read about. Not only is she kind and compassionate, but she's ruthless and intelligent when needed. She loves Ivy and Violet too. And im so glad violet turned around and changed. Im so glad she found the man she loves. I hope ivy gets that. I think Ardan is the one who will balance her. As much as I love Bear, I dont think he will recover from everything done to him, especially now that he is a Prince of the Seelie Court. I think ardan is strong enough to stand by Ivys side. And Jules and Padriac are perfect. I can't wait to see what happens with them now that Padriac is king.

Read in about four hrs as i couldn't set it down!

Alena has defeated Lyric and become Queen of Winter. Bear in order to save Ivy's life agreed to marry Slaine...Ardan does as Bear requests and takes Ivy to the human realm to keep her safe. Ivy is almost catatonic in her grief and fear of what Slaine will do to Bear. In Meantime Barrett finds out he is the Crown Prince Of Seelie which us why Alena wanted him to marry Slaine. A lot of court intrigue and twists happen during this time and i find myself unable to wait to read the next book so im going to do so now. This series is definitely worth reading! Give it a try!
Enjoy 💜

I started this series on NY day and have not put it down since. I am definitely starting to lose sleep but in a good way. This is written so well it plays out like a movie in your mind. While the unseelie realm may seem dark and uninviting, Jules is definitely attracted to the heir to the throne. As her relationship blossoms you are left with the excruciating truth that bear is risking everything for ivy and beginning to like ardan more and more each day. Root for the underdog right? The queen is playing a tricky game of risk with the future of the Winter throne and Violet has quite a hand in play with the summer prince. This series will leave you wanting more, book after book.

Kudos Miss Bekah Harris! This book has been fun to read. The deception in mystery of it all has entice me to be a fan. I have it now grown to admire Arden, however, smallest, maybe, I still have to admit it. I see the love of my life in the audience character and I am ashamed. I haven’t noticed it at all before. I find them adorable. He had made mistakes yes, but all is forgiven. He had redeemed himself by helping Ivy free bear. I ship, Ivy and bear, yes, but now, I do not know if I ship Ivy with Arden yt. I do have to admit that it is beautiful. He is slowly redeeming himself, and admired that from the prince. I do hope he and Ivy get along in the future.

3 am and way past my bedtime

After devouring the first three book in essentially one sitting it’s time for bed since my alarm is due to go off in about 3 hours so I can go to work...but the temptation to start book 4 is so hard to ignore. After a battle that sees everything changing, in Winter court and across all the Fae realms, Ivy has a chance to reclaim what is hers and I cannot wait to start book 4! Hoping work is REALLY slow tomorrow so I can finish the rest of the books in this series!

Lots of angsty stuff in this book

Everything is going wrong for Ivy and Bear. If there is one bright spot it is that Arden has discovered that he has a heart and is capable of love. Everything seems to be crumbling as her evil aunt takes everything from Ivy that matters. But alas, there is hope yet, and a pathway to sweet revenge and a righting of wrongs. I am enjoying this series! On to the next book in the series.

Enthralling!

I can't seem to get enough of this series. Full of every emotion one can feel this series will make you a prisoner, but in a good way to its pages. I love the characters with the exception of Alena, and her rat fink daughters. Full of magic, suspense, romance, and on occasion some tongue in cheek humor. You will laugh, cry, and growl as you immerse yourself in this wondrous series... Well onto the next book!
