Kristi Belcamino is a USA TODAY bestselling author, an Agatha, Anthony, Barry & Macavity, award finalist, a newspaper cops reporter, and an Italian mama who makes a tasty biscotti.
-In another very good story centered around Gia Santella, we find Gia still caring for a young Rosalie, the orphaned daughter of a Mexican drug lord, while Gia is still living with James, the police officer who was shot and paralyzed, due to a corrupt police chief. -James is considering a very risky operation that he’s heard about, that’s conducted in Germany, which may allow him to walk again. He’s also frustrated at his life, as his private investigation business isn’t going as he’d like, so he has to rely on the money from Gia. All this is grating on him, so his relationship with Gia from his end, isn’t going well, even though Gia is trying her best to make it work. -Gia is contacted by her friend, Darling, who needs her help, and it involves the corrupt police chief. A group of hackers that she’s friendly with have hacked into the city computers. Because the police chief wanted the city to purchase a helicopter for his use, the hackers were demanding $5 million dollars in bitcoin which would deplete the budget and prevent the helicopter purchase. The group of 6 hackers were now being killed off, and Darling needed Gia’s help, as an outsider that Darling could trust, to warn the ones who were still alive. They were already told to go off line, so Gia had to go to each one in person. -At the same time, we’re introduced to a person by the name of Blake. Assisted by a close friend, he had started a web site, called Night Fall, which was dealing first in drugs and then anything that had to be under the radar of the police. The site took off beyond his wildest dreams. But one of his employees decided to leave when she saw that they were dealing in sex trafficking and Blake considered her a threat that had to be eliminated. He also believed that she had stolen money from his organization. -One of the services offered on his site was a hitman, and through the corrupt police chief, who he paid off handsomely, a very successful hitman was hired to go after Charlie and the other hackers. He was very smart, and very skilled and his talents included torture. All hits were thoroughly planned, and the rush that he got from completing a job was addictive. -All of these parts come together to form a great addition to the series as Gia must reach out to the various hackers to stop this demented killer, who is also aided by the police, through the protection offered to him by the corrupt police chief. You know that at a certain point, Gia herself will end up in his crosshairs. Though Gia throws herself into danger, she now finds herself holding back at times as her responsibility for the care of Rosalie keeps flashing in her mind. -The action scenes and the build up of tension, which is a signature talent of the writer, is on display here, making this a very enjoyable read and everything you would expect.
I am newer to Kristi’s writing and coming into Gia’s story several books in, but I absolutely love her character. She is down to earth, focused, strong-willed, determined to fight for what is right and those she loves, and willing to stick her neck out for the little guy. She also has a genuine relatable quality about her and I enjoy seeing the emotional depth that Kristi adds to Gia’s character to help keep her grounded.
With the continued series with one main character as a focus point, Gia’s life is ever-changing as she faces new obstacles and life events thrown her way to help her grow and move forward in her life. With Rosalie now added to her family, Gia’s day to day life becomes a struggle for balance as she tries to settle into a normal routine with the child while dealing with a rocky relationship with James and a new job that is requiring all her focus and almost all her time. The situation becomes even more urgent when her friends’ lives are threatened and she is the only one standing between them and harm’s way. With all that she is trying to juggle between her professional and personal life, she is overextending herself and something has to give. Unfortunately, amidst the chaos of life and death and fighting for the city, she takes a personal hit with devastating consequences.
Night Fall is a gripping, crime thriller that will grab your attention from the beginning and once you start reading you will not want to quit until the end. It is fast-paced, loaded with suspense and Gia’s special kind of kick ass on the side. The story is told in multiple points of view which helps give you a better understanding of the overall story and all the characters involved along with their specific emotional state and actions taken as a result. It is a well-written, engaging read and I am looking forward to seeing what Kristi has in store for Gia’s next adventure.
*I received an ARC of this book from the author and I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Review for Night Fall beware of possible spoilers. Gia SANTELLA is asked in this book to help a group holding the city ransom because the crooked Chief of Police wants to buy a helicopter with money that would help the needy. The book started off a bit slow with a description of the deteriorating relationship between Gia and James who had been shot by the orders of the Chief of Police. James wants to try a cure for his paralysis in Europe but does not want Gia and Rosie to come with him. Gia also worries about how having Rosie in her life has made her more vulnerable since what she does fighting crime outside the law. The book gets more focused on the action as Gia meets the group members and gets her hacker friend Danny involved to stop The Cleaner from killing the last two members of the six. The sections referring to the cleaner and his cat are interesting and really help to illustrate his character even though he is not a character to be admired. Blake, the founder of Nightfall is also not a nice man but his character is not as developed but is more simply understood as greedy. He is trying to give people a safe way to buy illegal drugs but he is still a criminal and he gets what he deserves in the end. The action scenes between Gia and the cleaner are well written as are the scenes with her friend Darling. The dialogue helps to move the story along. Overall this was a good story but the relationship of James and Gia at the end is a bit distracting since The Chief is arrested but James leaves for Europe anyway. The epilogue with Dante on the beach is good and indicates that life is going to continue for Gia.
Kirsty Belcamino's vigilante heiress, Gia Santella, is a woman on a mission, as her seventh outing in the Gia Santella Crime Thrillers series soon shows.
Affairs of the heart are causing Gia and her crippled live-in boyfriend James to be increasingly at odds, as life and and love collide head on, despite Gia's main vendetta target being James's Nemesis - as well as her own.
Cybercrime on a vast scale, including, (but not limited to) hitmen for hire, people-trafficking and other nefarious deeds, is enabled by the eponymous NightFall site, on the so-called Dark Web, with the complicity of those self-seekers with power-lust and the money to satisfy their darkest desires
The website and its controller bring a tangled and dangerous reality to Gia's world, where events seem bent on shattering not only her life, but those of friends and loved ones too.
Book 7, Night Fall, by the wonderful Kristi Belcamino, promises a rip-roaring, all-action adventure like nothing you'll read elsewhere, with the riveting characters, amazing yet believably possible storyline and a human, flawed yet still exciting MC in Gia Santella - who's a female version of James Bond with a twist of Modesty Blaise and Lara Croft thrown into the mix.
Get your copy today and hang onto the grab-handle of,(your metaphorical version of) Gia's powerful motorcycle, as you tear off in search of more bad guys whose butts you can kick - what a woman!
The story is filled with dark mysteries and men who are willing to do anything for money. A hitman is hired to dispose of trouble makers, but Gia is doing her best to save them. She puts her life in danger over and over again. Thank goodness she has friends with outstanding technical skills to help her when she needs it most. Regretfully, she comes close to losing the ones she loves the most. She never puts herself first until it is too late. But there is hope for her to find new life and new love in the future.
All of the key characters in this story have two names. One is for their identity in the Dark Web and in the criminal website called Night Fall. The other is their real name. It is sometimes difficult to keep their identities straight as their real names are used infrequently, but are needed to fully understand what is going on and their relationships to each other. Regardless, the story is full of intrigue and quite a bit of violence as the hitman goes about his business of killing people. He is a sick bastard who enjoys the thrill of killing, so much so that it is truly an addiction.
There is quite a bit of sadness in the story as victims leave behind loved ones and dear friends. Also when Gia struggles with her personal conflicts and the love of her life who has been crippled and is frequently in a foul mood. She tries to be close to him, but her quest for justice often takes her away on short notice, which is bound to strain any relationship.
When Kristi wrote this book she was one cruel lady. But that was in a good way. Once I started reading it, it was hard to stop. By the time I finished it, it is past my bed time. Ms Belcamino continues to pull us into the life of Gia Santella. As Gia tries to get her life together, her kick-ass personality drives her to save those she loves and cares about. While fighting her own demons she still cannot seem to attain the happiness she strives for. The action in this book is non-stop and the twists abound. How Gia pulls it together in the end is a pure example of how well the author can write stories. My interest in this strong protagonist only increases as we are introduced to har life and I look forward to many more hours of action and thrills.
Go to the top of the page and purchase this book. You will thank Ms Belcamino for providing the story.
Gia's life has changed. With the arrival of Rosalie, she finds herself enjoying a happy family: Matt, Rosalie. Django and Gia. But Matt is not happy, having been wounded, paralyzed and released from the police force by a dirty police chief. Hackers are holding the city for a ransom of 500 bitcoin or 5 million dollars. How can Gia help Matt put the dirty cops away and restore some of his dignity? Enlisting the help of her many friends and compatriots they embark on a dark journey through the dark web to get to the source of the black mail. Gia finds herself thinking about her domestic life and how to protect Rosalie as she bounces from one danger to the next. Her relationship with Matt is suffering as he struggles with what to do about a spina treatment program that may allow him to walk again. You have to read Night Fall to find all the answers. Kristi has done it again!
Every book Gia faces a new dilemma and this time we see she is still going after the corrupt cops, but also helping a group of hackers who are facing off with a hit man and dark web site.
It is an intriguing blend of suspense, crime and thriller. There is a dash of romance, but more the FYI g embers rather than the thrill of love. I have not been the biggest fan of James and while I hated what happened to him in the previous book, I found him to be a jerk in this book. True, Gia didn’t make the best call in a major topic, but his wrongs were harsh...IMO...
There are some editing mistakes with spelling and names, but not so much that they detract from the story. This can be enjoyed as a starting place in the series, but I would recommend reading them in order to see how Gia changes and the role of relationships in her life! Clearly I enjoy this series and I look forward to reading more.
First thing's first: I received an ARC copy of this book and am providing my unsolicited, unbiased review. Second, there are NEVER any spoilers in my reviews, so GO: Gia remains an amazing force to be reckoned with! Never disappointing, always thrilling, just the right amount of intrigue and full of passion as we view her (you can feel yourself interacting with) personal vs professional struggles! It is a beautiful thing to watch this character evolve and discover herself in each of the Gia Santella stories, as this badass femme fatale actually softens as she embraces her past and future. You can read this as a standalone, or read in order, but either way, you'll want to read them all. Do yourself a favor, get it now!
NIGHTFALL. Kristi Belcamino Hackers have gotten control of the city computers. James her boyfriend friend is trying to bring the corrupt chief down,,and getting more frustrated by it. The disappointment, making him angry and bitter. The happiness for her was with Rosalie walking her to school. Being no stranger to the gritty, evil side, knew something was going on corruption and murder was happening. What men or group was behind it and why. As usual Gia is caught up in it. With her friends Darling and Dante she will survive. A gripping tale, that unfolds and the reader are caught up in this tangled mess, will she lose everything and the city she loves. Another winner for author. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Gia has always had her own sense of what is right and wrong, and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her friends and loved ones safe. Legally, or otherwise.
This time round, Gia is tasked with finding and protecting a group of vigilante computer hackers, who after going up against the founder of a dark market website, are being hunted down one by one.
I love that we get multiple viewpoints to read from here, as it gives you a much wider understanding of what is really happening and why. It's also fun to delve into the minds of the bad guys!
This was another great Gia book, and I love that she is maturing and evolving as each book goes on. I'm excited to see what's next for her!
Gia has really changed with this series and I look forward to more from her. It's very important to read the series in order, they are quick exciting reads with a common thread. Each book has new villains and crimes but Gia's life is forever evolving. The world of hacking is foreign to me but this storyline was fascinating and I learned a bit too. We get points of view from Gia, bad guy one and bad guy two. It made for an interesting path through the story, getting into the mind of the criminal gave it a thrilling twist. I received an advanced copy but my review was written unbiased and voluntarily.
Yet another great read. The slowest of the series but with the subject matter being computers & hackers it's to be expected. Gia yet again kicks ass & the bad guys don't stand a chance once she is on their tail. With the help of her closest friends all with their own secrets & strengths Gia once again saves her beloved area. For those that have been following the series this is quite an emotional read. Don't be put off by it being the latest in a series it works great as a stand alone & you will want to read the rest of the series. Kristi has yet again got it just right with the mix of kick ass female lead with a growing softer side that makes her kick ass even harder.
Don’t be afraid of the dark… But be very, very afraid of Night Fall! This is another amazing adventure with Gia! Seems the police chief needs to be put in his place (i.e., prison). How to do it, though, with the whole police force and maybe some feds protecting him, takes Gia and her friends going the tech/hacking route to bring justice to the city. Lives are lost; justice must prevail. This story has all the elements of a tense read: murder for hire, corrupt cops, a dark web site wherein you can buy anything. Don’t put this one down; something might happen while you’re snacking or sleeping that you won’t see coming. I was worried about Danny, for sure! Great story, Kristi!
It didn’t even take a minute for me to fall for this one
Gia, local vigilante, gets sucked into another hair raising case. As the story progresses things become complicated, a chance to settle old scores arises, and all of her personal relationships change. I absolutely love Gia and her sense of justice, the scrapes and near misses keep the stories engaging. It didn’t even take a minute for me to fall for this one with all of the growth from the supporting characters. I can’t wait to see what Kristi Belcamino has in store for Gia’s next adventure.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
I just love the Gia series and this one now has me longing for more. It's like a drug. I wish I could binge on Gia like I binge on Netflix. This one was about computer geniuses who have a site on the dark web where you can hire assassins, buy drugs, sell drugs and hire yourself out as a hit man among other criminal activities. Now Gia has to find this hit man before he or she takes out a friend of a friend and her computer hacker friend while trying to expose her arch nemesis the chief of police.
I love this series and this author! Love Gia! This book is intense, powerful, moving, interesting, complex, inspiring and just plain badass! Every page kept me riveted and I could not put the book down! Lots of twists and turns and intrigue throughout the book. Interesting and complex characters. Gia is going through a lot of changes and is able to handle things much better than she used to . This is a real winner of a story! I am so happy that I found this author! Cannot wait for the next story of Gia!
Yet another 5-star Gia book!! A non-stop thrill ride of action awaits you in this book with an unexpected twist. Every book seems to expose the reader and Gia herself to more facets of her emotional character. Fighting corruption from the top down to a dark website offering drugs and assassins for hire, she doesn't stop until the job gets done. And when people she loves get caught up in the mix she protects them as fiercely as she goes after the bad guys. Quick read because it's impossible to put down!!
Another thriller in the Gia Santella series. Once you start reading, you do not want to quit until you finish the novel. Kristi Belcamino gets your interest from the beginning. Night Fall is a dark market web site that sells almost illegal product. The chief of police in involved with this organization and covers up their crimes. When a group of hackers join to expose this organization, people start to die.
Excellent read! If you are a fan of the Gia series, this will not let you down. Gia must hunt down a group of hackers that are responsible for several murders. The tangled web unwinds and justice comes to those who deserve it. Gia still is a strong, kickass gal who gets the job done at all cost. Loved it and can’t wait to read the next adventure!
I was fortunate enough to receive an Arc copy of Night Fall and Gia is just an awesome character! Kristi Belcamino shows all sides of Gia, that she is caring, shows love for Rosalie and care and support for James. She has A kick ass personality and stands up for the what she believes and what she believes! Night fall is a great story that you need to read as well as the rest of the series!
The biggest heart in the world, extremely fierce and protective of those she loves, she is a force of nature. Gia, you never disappoint. Thank you to the author, Kristi Belcamino, for bringing this beautiful, strong woman to life. A captivating series, I recommend highly!
Great book from the beginning we find gia fighting for those she feels have been wronged. Loved her continuing relationship with Rosalie and the ups and downs with James. Great Book from start to finish
Good one for crime fighting Gia .She'll have to take down a killer and those that sent him.Meanwhile her home life is not the best.So she is fighting on two fronts, for the innocents and her loves.
I was lucky enough to have gotten a ARC copy of this book from the author. I am volunteering to leave this review. Great book plenty of twist and turns that will have you reading until the last page.
