Protected and controlled underground, Kyle and the other “gifted” teens have become pawns and “breeders” in a twisted plot devised by their unusual leader, Hartmann. With all of their families presumed dead, Kyle discovers that Hartmann has actually been keeping tabs on them and many have survived, including Kyle’s brother. When she finds that Ichiro’s family has also survived and are very close, she struggles with her own selfish desires and possibly losing Ichiro forever.
Having escaped their underground “school,” Kyle and Ichiro part ways as he goes in search of his own family when she finally tells him the truth. Now that she realizes her true feelings for Ichiro, has she lost him forever? Does she even deserve him?
