Kyle Singer knew she'd survive the comet with Ichiro, but the knowledge hadn’t prepared her for the guilt that came with surviving while the rest of her family had not. After arriving at the school, she discovers that Hartmann had kept track of the families before the comet hit—including Ichiro’s missing relatives.

Keeping the family’s whereabouts a secret, Kyle is determined to find Andy and use their sixth senses to bring her brother back to the school. To safety. When Ichiro finds out that his family is alive, he goes after them, sending Kyle out on her own. No one knows what they will find venturing out into a world ruined by the comet. Or if they’ll be able to return to the school before a second ice age hits.

Protected and controlled underground, Kyle and the other “gifted” teens have become pawns and “breeders” in a twisted plot devised by their unusual leader, Hartmann. With all of their families presumed dead, Kyle discovers that Hartmann has actually been keeping tabs on them and many have survived, including Kyle’s brother. When she finds that Ichiro’s family has also survived and are very close, she struggles with her own selfish desires and possibly losing Ichiro forever.

Having escaped their underground “school,” Kyle and Ichiro part ways as he goes in search of his own family when she finally tells him the truth. Now that she realizes her true feelings for Ichiro, has she lost him forever? Does she even deserve him?

INSTINCT by Niki Cluff is a riveting rollercoaster of suspense, angst and daring as one girl risks everything and discovers she has found more than she could have bargained for. Told in the voices of young adults, with all of the uncertainty and that youthful feeling of daring, this tale is both fantasy and coming of age when survival is paramount!

Niki Cluff has captured the ability to bring her characters to life and her world into reality as she creates a plausible tale that is spellbinding!
