Meant for More: The Proven Formula to Turn Your Knowledge into Profits

An award-winning entrepreneur and business coach outlines an easy-to-follow formula that helps you own your unique value, make more money, have more impact, and get more out of life--all without being pushy or sales-y.

Meant for More is a How to Win Friends and Influence People for the modern age. It shows you how to stand out in an increasingly noisy world by simply offering your unique skills and talents and helping others do the same. It offers tangible skills to use in all areas of your life, including work, to increase your success and do good while you're at it. It speaks to people looking to leave the 9-to-5 for more freedom and fulfillment; stay-at-home moms going back to work; young Boomers worried they're too senior (and expensive) to find new jobs; idealistic Gen Xers and Millennials unwilling to toe the company line; and experts in any field who want to cash in on their expertise while making a difference.
In Meant for More, an award-winning entrepreneur and business coach outlines the formula for getting the "more" you've been longing for: a proven system to sell yourself and your one-of-a-kind gifts to the people you were meant to help and reap the rewards that come when you stop giving away your gifts for free. The Meant for More Formula helps you upgrade your mind-set, unwrap your unique gifts, claim your value, and make irresistible offers so you can get what you're worth and make the difference you're here to make--in a way that isn't remotely pushy or sales-y.
We all long for more: More impact. More success. More fulfillment. More abundance. More freedom. More joy. But it's not necessarily easy to fulfill this longing. We all know someone who clearly has so much to offer the world but who holds back out of fear--fear of failure, or of success; fear of putting herself "out there"; fear of being perceived as pushy or full of himself. Maybe that person is you.

After 8 years helping corporate giants like Pfizer and Hewlett-Packard generate billions in sales and then finally following her passion to work in the personal development space—again taking small companies from 6- to 7-figures quickly—Lisa Sasevich was suddenly fired from her dream job the night before Christmas Eve. With a husband in medical school and two toddlers at home, it was devastating.

But, after some soul-searching, the “Queen of Sales Conversion” decided it was time to parlay her talents into her own profits—and to help others do the same. She started a home-based business—with nothing more than a phone line, a laptop and the stolen hours of the night after her kids were tucked into bed.

Her mission: To teach entrepreneurs who “hate the sales part” how to leverage their talents, products, and services into massive profits without sounding salesy.

A few short years and over $35 million in sales later, Lisa has helped over 15,000 thousand clients in 134 countries earn more by doing what they love most. Lisa’s company, The Invisible Close™, has been honored in the Inc. 500 and named one of Inc. Magazine’s fastest-growing privately held companies two years in a row. As Kym and Sandra Yancey of the eWomenNetwork put it, “without question she is brilliant at teaching others to leverage their unique gifts and qualities into a financial windfall.”

4.5 I should just give it a five already but I want to do the work and sit with the results a bit. Very encouraged and even more ready to do what I’m called to do.

I'm biased because I collaborated on this book (and had to read the proofs as part of my work--hey, I challenged myself to read 52 books this year, and this is a book, that I read!) but I learned a TON from Lisa and re-reading it reminded me of just how much I did learn and incorporated into my life. I know you can't really trust me to be objective here but Lisa is great at helping you get out of your own way -- both by helping you reframe your thinking and giving you super practical things to DO. If you're ready to some version of 'more' in your life, this book will help you make it real.

There was nothing in this book that I hadn’t heard before (bear in mind I read and listen to a lot of material in this space). There was a few useful nuggets but I found a lot of the advice very dated (calling yourself a guru and business cards being a must have) and was surprised to learn it was published in 2020.

Find Your Genius and Market It!

While I haven't read this book cover to cover yet, I’m very impressed! My initial thought, when I saw the subtitle, was that it might be about creating a course or writing a book based on your knowledge. The book isn't as specific as that. In fact, it's better! In this book, the author encourages you to figure out your zone of genius, claim it as such, and then take decisive action to make it profitable in ways that align with your values and comfort circle. I loved, loved, loved how, right in the introduction, the author looks at sales as service: "Ultimately, sales is about helping people say yes to themselves."

This service-based approach to sales is very much aligned with how I want to run my businesses. I was specifically looking for sales books, hoping to find ones that see sales as service but had been gravely disappointed until I found this book! Part of what I love about this book is that, at the very end, she provides a 30-day implementation plan. She states you probably have already begun to do some things in the book, but if you haven't, here's what you can do!

4.5 stars. This book was very easy to get through, offered practical tips and exercises in a well organized fashion. It may be a little oversimplified if you’ve already done a lot of transformational or personal growth work. Overall though, a really handy reference and Lisa sounds like a reliable, experienced, and caring mentor.
