A baker who sees the dead. One too many suitors. And a killer. Living in Honey Hollow can be murder.
Cutie Pies and Deadly Lies (Murder in the Mix 1) Bobbing for Bodies (Murder in the Mix 2) Pumpkin Spice Sacrifice (Murder in the Mix 3)
My name is Lottie Lemon and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, aka dead pets.
And for some reason those sweet, fluffy albeit paranormal cuties always seem to act as a not-so-great harbinger of deadly things to come for their previous owner. So when I saw that sweet orange tabby twirling around my landlord’s ankles, I figured Merilee was in for trouble. Personally, I was hoping for a skinned knee—what I got was a top spot in an open homicide investigation. Throw in a hot judge and an ornery detective that oozes testosterone and that pretty much sums up my life right about now. Have I mentioned how cute that detective is?
Lottie Lemon has a bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors and she has the supernatural ability to see dead pets—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in the occasional ghost of the human variety, a string of murders and her insatiable thirst for justice and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.
Living in the small town of Honey Hollow can be murder.

Here we have the first 3 books in the Murder in the Mix series by Addison Moore. I had picked up book 1 for free and wanted to try out more in the series. When the box set was on sale I grabbed it.
Here is what I thought on each book in the set:
******
Cutie Pies and Deadly Lies is book one in the Murder in the Mix series by Addison Moore. It’s a cute fun cozy mystery. It’s half romance, half murder mystery, with a dab of paranormal.
This is my first experience with Addison Moore. I grabbed this book; because it was free, the cover was attractive, and I liked that our lead Lottie can see dead pets. A little paranormal in my cozy mysteries is always something I enjoy.
The writing was good. The author is very descriptive and at times that became to much. Some of the sentences ended up being long and that distracted me a little.
As for our lead Lottie Lemon, that name LOL, can see dead pets; which are harbingers for ominous things to come. I enjoyed Lottie. She’s funny, quirky, and the paranormal twist on her seeing dead pets was a fun added bonus. The only down side to Lottie was that every man she runs into she goes off in her head on how cute or sexy they are. That type of thinking takes away from the story and can be too much, at least for me.
I did enjoy the secondary characters. Getting to know her friends and the other citizens of Honey Hollow.
The mystery was well done. It had enough clues and suspects to consider. There were a few twists and turns and the ending was a surprise.
Cutie Pies and Deadly Lies was a cute fun cozy mystery read. I enjoyed it and plan to pick up the next book.

Bobbing for Bodies is book two in the Murder in the Mix series by Addison Moore.
It’s the grand opening of Lottie Lemon’s bakery, she’s dating Noah, her mom has a boyfriend, and her friend Hunter is found dead behind her bakery.
In this novel we see how insecure Lottie is in her relationship with Noah. The romance and romance issues are more front and center then the mystery. We do do some sleuthing around with Lottie and it was surprising some of the secrets we learn about Hunter, but the romance was out their more then the mystery. I prefer it to be the other way around in my cozy mysteries.
Lottie still hasn’t told Noah her secret. On the other hand we do spend a lot of time with Everette, Noah’s step-brother. He has a way of getting people to tell them his secrets and he has figured out Lottie’s. I liked spending time with Everette, but I was unsure if they were going to have a thing or if it was a friend thing. It almost felt like we might get a love-triangle and I’m glad we don’t. I don’t like triangles.
We also see more of her mom who now has a boyfriend after years of just dating and not being serious about a relationship. And, of course she’s concerned that the new guy isn’t what he seems.
All and all Bobbing for Bodies was an ok cozy mystery.

Pumpkin Spice Sacrifice is book three in the Murder in the Mix series by Addison Moore.
To start Chapter 1 is a repeat of who Lottie Lemon is, what she can do, who her friends and family are and last who her boyfriend is. It's nothing new. If you haven't read the series then you know what's what at the start, but for those that have read in order it's just a repeat of information we already know about. It felt redundant.
As for the murder mystery it wasn’t in the forefront. And, what Lottie does to get answers in solving the mystery like going to The Jungle Club, you can guess what that is, and a nude swim class well let me just say the areas aren’t something Lottie would go to, so it was out of character. I just shook my head at what she was willing to do to get answers. It was all to far-fetched to me.
Then we have her friends, family, and boyfriend that keep telling her over and over to stay out of the investigation. She says she will, but she doesn’t. Now I get that we don't have a story without her getting involved, but something about her, her profession, and her breaking her promises make me wonder. Her character just doesn't make scenes to get involved in mysteries.
Then their is the drama with her boyfriend Noah. She likes him, but she’s unsure. She’s keeping secrets from him. She plans to to tell him, but their ends up being to many disagreements or miss understandings. I just didn’t care for all the drama. Either they are together and trust each other or they are not together.
Last, Lottie is a baker and runs a bakery, but I don’t know how she makes any money when she keeps giving all her baked goodies away for free.
On a positive note: I like the revamp in the covers for this series. It’s better then the first publication and very cute. I like Edward, Noah’s brother, and I like Lottie’s friends.
Pumpkin Spice Sacrifice was ok. As for the Murder in the Mix series it has some interesting concepts and nice characters, but it’s just to working out for me. I gave the series a three book try, but I won't be continuing. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.
Cutie Pies and Deadly Lies That was really a lot of fun. I’ve read tidbits and pieces about these characters from farther into their future, so, knowing what’s in store for them makes coming back to see where it all began, kind of fascinating. I can’t say I was terribly surprised by who the villain turned out to be. My overly suspicious nature homed in that one fairly early. I’m rather proud of myself because I even had a lot of the motive correct too. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Bobbing for Bodies Before I really started to dig into this series, I was already a little in love with Lottie and the zany characters that surround her from what I’d seen from their cameo appearances in other series. This book kept me guessing from the moment it opened. I didn’t know who was behind the murder and I most assuredly didn’t have a clue why they did it. Those are the kinds of mysteries I love the most: the ones that keep me guessing, and keep me entertained and laughing with the hijinks and calamities going on in the background. Knowing a little about what’s in their future, I can’t wait to see how they get there. Pumpkin Spice Sacrifice Yes, I really am still loving pretty much everything about this series. Though, Lottie is starting to get a stern side-eye from me for having such a cavalier attitude about her own safety. I love the way they all inadvertently work together to make the pieces of the puzzle fit, in a way no one of them could do alone. However, this was another where my deeply untrusting soul picked out the true murderer and their motive before Lottie and crew got there. In this case, I’m kind of okay with it because I can feel inordinately proud of myself for figuring it out and there’s so much else going on that I was always highly entertained.
Lottie Lemon sees dead people, and read animals, and when she does, it's a precursor to tragedy. The first three stories in this series, we get to meet Lottie, her bestie, Keelie, her mom and sisters, her ex-, and two gorgeously hot guys, Noah and Everett, as well as a small town-full of interesting characters.. These are terrific mysteries, the characters are diverse and well-written, and the whole thing incredibly enjoyable. Addison Moore is a great writer, my one complaint being that once she fastens onto a good image she works it to death, but what the heck! I still loved these.
I found the characters ridiculous. Lottie is a self absorbed spoiled brat and Noah and Everett are shallow in the extreme. No self respecting police officer or judge would stick around or join in the antics with someone so willing to jeopardize the integrity of a murder investigation. She treats their requests to stop as if they are infringing on her rights as an independent woman. And the they apologize. Entirely ridiculous.
Hilarious laugh out loud moments 😂, mixed with sweet sentimental ones, sprinkle in some paranormal thrills, a smidge of mystery, and you've got a recipe for the perfect cozy read. 💓 Lottie Lemon has already baked her way into my heart.
Loved these books and I absolutely love the author. Addison Moore . She's magical with words. Truly.
"And just like fall, one of my favorite seasons of the year, I too feel as if I came into my own right along with it. I had never realized how much I held onto the failures of the past, the rejection, the abandonment that plagues me had all become etched over my soul like a badge of dishonor, and unbeknownst to me I had worn it with pleasure. I think it’s time to remove the badge, remove the shame and the disgrace that others have inflicted, that I may have inflicted on myself. It’s time to discover a new version of who I am and all that I can be. Time, in fact, has been my greatest teacher, ushering me through each new phase of my being. The metamorphosis continues as I stretch my wings and fly, as I fly so high I touch the stratosphere with the new opportunities presented to me. And I look forward to each new discovery as I lift the boulders of the past off my spirit, brush the dust off myself, and enter into the light of this new life. It is a beautiful, beautiful thing to realize that you are not defined by who you once were, that life is ever-evolving around you, and that you, in fact, are along for the magical ride."
Funnier than Janet Evanovich and addicting as Twilight, Addison is worth a thousand reads! *Murder in the Mix Books 1-3
I would actually give this 3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed all three books, the characters are likable enough and mysteries were good and kept me guessing. My biggest drawback was how every good looking guy we had to read how she wanted them. Her best friend I could not get into at all, she spouts off with inappropriate statements which made me want to gag her. The first book Cutie Pies and Dead Lies, Lottie sees the dead pet of a woman and knows something bad is going to happen to the previous owner. When it turns out to be the body of a woman that she has had a conflict with, Lottie decides to clear her name. The second book Bobbing For Bodies, I liked a little more. I loved learning more about the story of Noah and Everett and getting to know them a little better. In this book Lottie finds the body of a good friend and wants answers to who did it, which takes her to places she didn't expect. The third book Pumpkin Spice Sacrifice we have Lottie instead of seeing a dead pet sees and dead person who looks like Everett which leaves her terrified that something will happen to him.
On the whole these were fun reads, the characters are varied and the mysteries kept me guessing. As a bonus there are some yummy recipes in the end of each book.
The lead character is a little too self-absorbed. She claims to be trying to help friends, but she doesn't share her ideas/thoughts in ways that will be the most helpful. I want to yell at her sometimes. But the story is interesting enough to keep me reading. The food-related descriptive passages are a nice detail, but there are a lot of "butter yellow" items and things "dotted" around (pumpkins, kisses). I look forward to the growth of the characters and relationships. Plus there is a hint of origin secrets to come.
I was excited to listen to this box set but it’s read by AI. There’s no real inflection or emotions conveyed. There’s mispronounced words and not all of them are homophones (lead as in leader or lead as in pencils is one example). There’s no way to tell just who is speaking. The first book was okay, but really short and kind of sudden in how it ended. I got to book 2 and I just couldn’t take the robot reading anymore. If it was a human who was reading this book and read it like this AI did, I would’ve quit reading long before. I thought I could hang but I really just can’t even.
Murder in the Mix is a fun set of mysteries by Addison Moore. The characters are described just enough to keep everyone straight but not too much to be stuffy or boring. The mystery is a true who done it which keeps you in suspense until the end. My only complaint is the love story is a bit much. I would rather delve into the mystery with less he and she.
This is a great series. It's witty, funny and so very entertaining. The banter and interaction between characters is at times laugh out loud funny. The mystery stories grab and keep your attention as Lottie attempts to solve them. My favorite character is Everett. This is truly an enjoyable series. Highly recommend!!
A really good read though I did only read 1book then go back 2 more times after reading other books in between. I did enjoy the writing and characters so will keep reading the series.
An enjoyable read the author does not excel in plot what Chick fil that is wonderful characters unbelievable settings you'll enjoy making these characters apart of your life
The first three books in Lottie's series are great. She sees ghosts of dead pets who lead her to find both bodies and mysteries. Great books. Can't wait for the next ones.
I fully enjoyed the first three book in this series. The characters were relatable and fun. I enjoyed how Lottie always seems to get into trouble bit always seems to get herself out again. Looking forward to the next book.
Nothing way out of the ordinary, but I don't bread these books for heart stopping plot twists. We do get to enjoy two handsome men as focal points and the descriptions of the desserts are divine.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series and wii read all of her books. The characters are fun and well fleshed out and Lottie’s sleuthing is as clever as it is amusing. Hoping for the best for Noah and Lottie!
All the desserts alone in these books are enough to make you drool all the way through these books. The murder mysteries are just the icings on the cakes! Look forward to diving in further!
I enjoyed these books. I look forward to reading the books in this series. The interaction between the characters andd the inital meeting with the two men was very interesting. Lottie has an unique ability and how she acquired it is integral to the story. For fans of the paranormal cozy.
I absolutely loved each of these books! Everything about them kept my interest and I had to force myself to stop each night...only to keep reading off & on each day until the end! I lope Lottie and Noah get married and Ivy moves to another state.
Murders and a little paranormal help. Lottie sees ghosts, and they help her solve murders. Of course, the men in her life want her to stay out of it. Like that's going to happen...
Great characters, murders that are hard to spot before being revealed. Well edited, no proof read errors. All sorts of people and all sorts of activities abound in this set of books. I found them to be a lot of fun.No recipies included.
This book gives you a little love story, a little family, and a lot of suspense! Enjoyed all of the above!! I'm going on to the next Addison Moore book!
