The Band of Cousins #7

Highland Devotion

Rate this book
The greatest heroes are soft-spoken.

Gregor Ramsay has never seen himself as a hero, but when the lass he fancies falls into the clutches of the Channel of Dubh, he’ll do anything he can to save her. Linet Baird will not be sold across the sea on his watch. Together with his cousin Connor, he follows Linet’s trail to Edinburgh, where it’s rumored they’ll find one of the Channel of Dubh’s final headquarters. There’s only one problem: Linet claims she doesn’t wish to be saved.

Although Linet didn’t ask to be kidnapped from Ramsay land, she’s grateful it happened. The dark secret she left behind was destroying her. Even so, it quickly becomes apparent that her protector Sela has limited power to help her. Just like her, Sela is in the grips of a larger organization, one controlled by cruel, capricious men who lack any form of conscience. When Gregor Ramsay offers to save her, she’s tempted to trust the lad she once fancied, but to do so, she will need to face the trauma of her past.

Simply awesome!

A fast paced story of mystery, suspense and romance. "A Band of Cousins", series, but can be read as a stand alone.
I was drawn into this story from the first page to the last. Well written and compellingly excuted.
The characters have depth, intelligence, charming and easy to relate and connect to.
The H/H are definitely destined to be together. Many twists and turns, and a few surprises along the way.
Another satisfying and memorable historical romance. The band of Cousins will keep you engaged and turning pages. Historical romance, Scottish romance, fans of romance with a HEA, mystery, fast paced, suspense will definitely enjoy HIGHLAND DEVOTION. I can't wait for the book in this amazing series. Hurry and purchase your copy.

We are first introduced to Linet in the previous book where she for some reason doesn't want to be saved from this illegal organization she's been pulled into. This book also definitely does more to set up the next/final book in the series. Excited for Connor and Sela.

This is a good Highlander romance, and a good addition to the Band of Cousins series. It can be read standalone, but will be much better if you read the Clan Grant series and Highland Clan series first. That is because there are many, many characters in this story, most of whom were introduced in one of the other two series.

This one gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

I liked Gregor a lot, and thought he was good for Linet. She needed someone gentle and caring to help her thru the trauma from her past, and he was perfect for that.

*** Spoilers Follow ***

I liked Linet, but didn't believe she would recover from her years of trauma so quickly. She had been a victim of sexual abuse for years, but she still had sex with Gregor very soon after they got together? I don't believe she would have been ready for that so quickly. Sexual abuse survivors usually take years to recover from their trauma, and some never completely recover.

*** End of Spoilers ***

I was glad that Gregor and Linet found their HEA -- they were good together, and she really needed someone who was willing to help her overcome her years of trauma.

I also liked most of the other characters, especially little Nari and Thorn, who were both adorable. I am interested in how this series will resolve, and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Another great addition to this wonderful series The Band of Cousins! Kidnapped, Linet Baird had been glad to be from her family at Clan Ramsey. She had been basically a slave for her brothers and father but also for another terrible reason she was trying not to let destroy her.
But as the group she was with were being attacked by warriors she had to flee with Sela, who was basically her keeper and it was her job to care for Sela's lasses who had also been taken. They were bought and sold, handled like cargo. But she could see Gregor Ramsey shooting arrows from the tree and prayed he would be safe. She just needed to get away from Ramsey land.
Gregor Ramsey was determined to find out what was pushing Linet to flee and stay with Sela and not come home. He had vowed to protect her and that is what he would do. They had spent time together when they were younger and at one time he had thought to declare for her.
An amazing story of love and redemption that won my heart. Don't miss this one or any in the series! You will not be able to put it down until the end!

Highland Devotion by Keira Montclair
Band of Cousins Series Book Seven
Gregor Ramsay and his cousin Connor are heading back to Edinburgh. They are getting closer to closing down the Channel, but for these two...there is more. Gregor is finding it's important to find Linet and bring her home. Meanwhile, Connor believes there is more to the Ice Queen than meets the eye.

Linet Baird had her reasons for not returning to Clan Ramsey, but now that things are changing...second thoughts have crept in. They are moving locations and her role as a healer may not be needed.

The cousins are gathering together for the finale. This book is slightly shorter because it runs the same timeline as Connor's. This is packed full of its own adventures though. Looking forward to the next book...as always. Great series.**Sexual content

Another awesome book by Keira Montclair

I have read most of this author’s books and always enjoy many hours of joy, escaping into an awesome world of an extended Family and Friends.I truly feel part of these people. This book is full of intrigue, adventure, humor, romance, with a touch of spice, in good taste, and a story of surprises. This story drew me in at beginning, and held me spellbound to end. I loved the hero and heroine, as well as almost all of the other people. There are some villains you dislike and happy when they get their just due. There are special birds, animals, and children written in to enjoy. I do recommend this and all of Ms. Montclair’s books. Do yourself a favor and read in order, because of reoccurring characters.

What a wonderful short story. As usual it was well written and flowed beautifully. It was lovely to read LInet and Gregor’s story. Having seen then in past stories it was lovely to see then coming together. Linet is strong and brave and Gregor, tender and understanding. I also enjoyed Thor and Nari and hope we see their stories in the future. I especially enjoyed this book because it was a short quick read. There was some mild sex and as usual this reviewer skipped it and it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the book. Now we wait to hear Sels’ story and how Connon will rescue her. I received this as an ARC and was a pleasure to review.

Gregor’s Story

As with all the books in this series/ world, Gregor’s tail was a page turner. All the Band of cousins are in it plus new characters to adore, 2 boys are as sweet as could be. How they are introduced is so cute. Of course there will also be some Grant and Ramsey favorites.

Linet is the heroine and she starts out meek in Gavin’s story, but you really see her grow in this story and find out why she really didn’t want to go back home. Gregor and Linet are a sweet pair and grow so much individually and more.

Enjoy... can’t wait for Connor’s story!

This series is Great!!!

Whoa this story was short but it packed a punch especially to the Dubh operation. Yes it's finally unravelling. Poor Linet the travesty and pain she endured I'm happy Gregor was her match. His patience and love for Linet shows us going through the fires of hell can make you stronger with the right person who loves and understands you. I do appreciate Keira making her stories relative to the travesty and sicknesses that plague this world. Happy Reading! Woohoo excited for Conner's story.

Well Done!

Gregor and Linet's story was short, but direct. It was surprisingly good. I was concerned because I knew going in the story was to be shorter. It definitely did not disappoint. There was action, intrigue and this deep passion and love growing between the hero and heroine. All of this, while the author kept us a breast as to what was going on all around. I look forward to Connor's and Sela's story. I hope it is planned for release very soon.

Vengeance is mine

Gregor doesn’t understand why Linet stayed with Sela. Linet has been hiding a secret for many years. When Linet is made to fight she sees Gregor and runs to him for help. As the band of cousins get closer to the end the leaders of the Chanel become more ruthless and the want vengeance against Maggie! A great read and can not wait to have the Chanel come to an end!

This was a terrific short, but jammed packed, book that had some of our old favorite characters & the meeting of 2 sweet boys that are such fun. I really enjoyed the intrigue, action & the amount of time it took Gregor & Linet to get their HEA - they were perfect for each other!

I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.

Linet won't leave Gregor will she??

I sure hope that a continuation is on the horizon. Because I don't, nay WON'T believe that this story with Linet and Gregory IS Quite over JUST YET. Please continue their stories. I really don't know if I can continue to read half written stories. It's breaking my heart. Ya know what I mean. Goodbye hopefully NOT forever. 😢😭

Fast paçed

This book really moves with the cousins taking a beating but never giving up. They are hot on the trail of the low lifes that run the channel. it's only matter of time before they catch the leaders of the channel but they have to hurry or they will miss the last three ships with a heart breaking cargo. Conners story next, should be good.

Reading this because I’m type A and have to complete the series. Read this in a few hours. I wish I had skipped it. Characters weren’t very interesting and no suspense as it’s the same plot with different names.
