Fireball Whiskey
Merci is in a loveless marriage. She is the mother of two beautiful little girls and she is trying to keep the love and desire alive in her marriage without any hope from her husband. He never wanted to get married, and only married her because she was pregnant. Now six years, two kids, and a lifetime later, she can’t even get him interested in going out to celebrate their anniversary. So she will enjoy her evening alone. The first of time without her children, she will have her anniversary weekend alone.
Ryan is married to a woman who most likely married him for his money. He has been attempting to spend more time together, and to find ways of rekindling their marriage, and their love, but she keeps working against him. He decides that since she has made other plans for the weekend, that he will just go off and enjoy his weekend doing what he wants to do.
Neither of them planned on crossing paths. Neither of them plan to need the other. But when their hearts cross paths; when their touch ignites a flame that cannot be extinguished; they will share a night together that will change their lives forever.
Going Down
It is three weeks later and Ryan and Merci can't seem to get each other off of their minds.
Merci has finally decided to leave her abusive husband. She and their two girls go to live with her parents. She takes the money that Ryan gave her, and uses it to give herself a makeover and to buy some new things for her children. Something that they never had, always having received hand me downs. She is looking for a new job and attempting to get a divorce from her husband. Things are looking up in her life, but she cannot get Ryan and their one night together off of her mind.
Ryan is attempting to use a private investigator to find evidence that his wife is cheating on him. For the past three weeks, she has been acting weirdly affectionate, and he doesn't know where all of this attention is coming from. He is not interested, he wants to be out of his marriage of eight years, and to be able to move forward with a life with Merci. Things aren't going quite as planned. And at every chance she gets, his wife is there to mess things up.
Rushing to read the conclusion.
Straight Up
So we get to the third and final book of this trilogy. We find out that after the end of book two, Merci is now working at a law firm and has been able to move up quickly in her position. Many people believe that she has slept her way to the top, but that is not the case. Her superiors like her way of thinking and she has been an asset to the business. She is determined to continue to support herself and her two children, and nothing will stop her.
Ryan is attempting to stay with his wife. She is now pregnant, and he is trying to be supportive, kind, and loving in a marriage, where if it weren't for the child, he probably wouldn't even try. He is still fighting his feelings for Merci, but trying to do what he believes is the right thing. He plans to go to one of his resorts with his wife, and work to rekindle their marriage and to enjoy her pregnancy.
So much happens in this book and it ends in a sort of cliffhanger. So there is no way to know what will happen next. We know where things stand in a way, but we are left with so many questions. I wonder if there will be another book.
