Four hundred years ago, Vampires discovered that the blood of a Phoenix granted them the ability to walk in the sun for an eternity. Ever since then, Vampires have been on a rampage and they have killed off nearly all of the Phoenix breed. Phoenixes' immortality only lasts as long as they are reborn from their ashes, but once drained of blood, they only turn into hollow stone. Twenty-five-year-old MEREDITH RAYNE is the last of the Phoenix species, or so she thinks. Ever since her parents were slayed by Vampires when she was ten-years-old, her godfather, SAMUEL LAWERANCE, has kept her hidden from the city. Now, a college student at the University in Las Vegas, her last name draws the attention of vampires. They want something from her-- something that her father stole before he was killed. As she unravels the secrets of her parent's past, she joins forces with a 1500-year-old Vampire, ADRIAN THORNE. His suave debonair captivates her, and he can't control this undeniable urge to protect her. With the entire Vampire species after her, Adrian risks everything to keep her safe, and this vow to protect her transforms into a vow to love her for an eternity.
I’d have to say this book was waaaaay better than I expected! The whole Phoenix vs Vampire was a very interesting twist. I don’t want to give too much away about the story but I will say this book was very well written and has a very intriguing story line!
